Elaine “Lainey” Devereaux has taken a break from her corporate job at her father’s business to search for answers. Her mother tried to tell her something while on her deathbed and Lainey can’t move on until she learns what her mother was trying to tell her. Using her mother’s journal, she follows in her footsteps across the country while penning a successful travel blog. Her mother’s next journal entry takes her to Bluestar Island.
Jack Turner is a graphic designer who has been working remotely but is expecting a big promotion that will have him leaving the island for New York. In his haste to get home for a mandatory Zoom meeting, he is unable to stop his golf cart before hitting a woman who had stepped into his path.
Jack and Lainey are soon spending a lot of time together but can they handle what life has in store for them?
The author has created such strong characters in this 4th/9th Turner Family of Bluestar Island romance.
I felt for Lainey immediately. Losing your mom is hard enough but knowing she died with a huge secret would have been devastating. Making it worse was that her dad knew but wouldn’t tell her. I loved that she found her mother’s journal and took off on her own to learn more about her mother and what both her parents had been hiding. The journey wasn’t easy and getting hit by a golf cart wasn’t a great welcome to Bluestar Island but Lainey didn’t give up. She was determined to find the truth.
Jack was dealing with some secrets of his own. Most of his family lives on the island and the family ties are strong but they don’t know everything he is dealing with. He feels a job in the city will be a good way to reboot his life. He is such a good man and doesn’t know anything about Lainey but he volunteers to take care of her as she recovers from her injuries. His family also steps in to help.
With the Spring Fling readers meet and reconnect with Jack’s family and other island residents. They are a close-knit group known to be marvelous matchmakers and they are ready to work their magic again. They can see what Jack and Lainey are trying to deny. But Lainey has her own secret that could blow up their whole relationship. It was fun to watch from the sidelines.
Bluestar Island is a special place. Many have lived there their entire lives. They are strong in their beliefs. Some of the women can be a little overbearing but their hearts are in the right place. They look out for each other but welcome newcomers. It reminds me of how small towns used to be. It is a place I would love to visit. I may not want to leave.
What I really enjoyed was the bit of mystery. What was Lainey’s parents secret? I thought I had it all figured out but Ms. Faye threw in a twist I didn’t see coming and then the twists kept coming. I loved the way the story played out.
A Lighthouse Snapshot is a charming well-written romance filled with surprises. I escaped right into the story and was delightfully entertained. I love stories of hope and second chances. I also love stories that include lighthouses. Ms. Faye offers a Bonus Epilogue at the end of the book. Be sure to click the link to read more of Jack and Lainey’s story. I can’t wait to read more of this series.
I have loved every book in the Bluestar Island series, and A Lighthouse Snapshot is no exception! It’s the ninth book that takes place on Bluestar Island, but it can be read as a standalone. It’s a charming, clean romance with secret identity and opposites attract tropes.
These books have such a cozy feel to them because the setting is this small island where most of the residents know each other. Some of the residents overlap in the series, but the recurring ones only play small parts in each book. The more I read of the Bluestar Island books, the more I feel like these characters are my friends. They would be if I lived there!
Lainey Dell has been following a road trip that her late mother took. She found the journal, and she’s convinced that her mom came to Bluestar Island. She’s just not sure why. Lainey’s a travel blogger and photographer. But that’s her secret identity. She is actually Elaine Devereaux, a contract attorney and heir to her father’s huge fortune. But, she loves the life she’s been living since taking a leave of absence after her mom’s death. Lainey is a very likable character with a determination for finding the answers she seeks.
Jack Turner has lived on the island for almost his entire life. Most of his family still live on the island. In fact, when Jack collided with Lainey, one of his brother’s had just proposed to his girlfriend. Lainey had taken the opportunity to capture a snapshot of the moment when, trying to get a good shot, she stepped in front of Jack’s golf cart. Talk about an awkward meet-cute! Jack is determined to remain single, but he finds himself falling for Lainey and her easy-going nature. Jack has experienced grief and disappointment that’s led him to this singleness vow, but Lainey breaks through his tough shell.
As I said, the island setting is so cozy, and I want it to be a real place that I can move to! It’s a ferry ride away from Boston, but it feels like a completely different world. The downtown shops are adorable, only golf carts are allowed on the roads, people are (mostly) friendly, it’s got the ocean…what more could you want?
The romance that develops between Jack and Lainey feels authentic even though they haven’t known each other very long. When you know, you know. They say opposites attract, and it’s true with this couple. Lainey brings out the best in Jack. I really love this couple!
I highly recommend A Lighthouse Snapshot for its island setting, opposites attract and secret identity romance tropes, well-written characters, and page-turning plot. I couldn’t put it down, and I think romance lovers will adore it!

Will Lainey and Jack find love and happiness on Bluestar Island?
Elaine “Lainey” Devereaux A bigtime corporate lawyer turned travel blogger is searching for the secret that her mother tried to impart to her on her death bed. Lainey is so devastated after her mom’s death that she takes her mom’s journal and follows her path, looking for the secret. Eventually, Lainey ends up on Bluestar Island, where she finds Jack Turner and more than she bargained for when it comes to her mom’s secrets.
Will Lainey allow the past to rule her present and future? I was immediately drawn to Lainey. She is kind and is a truly nice person. Even when faced with horrible circumstances, she strives to be her best.
Jack Turner Jack is one of the Turner siblings. He is a graphic designer. After staying too long at the family furniture store and in his haste to get home for a meeting, he hits Lainey with his golf cart. The two of them hit it off and become fast friends, which leads to more. Although, Jack’s past may be an issue if he can’t get beyond it.
I like Jack. He is a gentleman and believes in the truth. I truly like the way he likes to watch his nephew and is there for his family.
Five Stars My rating for A Lighthouse Snapshot by Jennifer Faye is five stars. I am a sucker for a good love story with a happy ending. I recommend A Lighthouse Snapshot to all you sweet romance readers.
Check out the recipe for The Elegant Bakery’s Whoopie Pies at the back of the book. They sound yummy!
Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of A Lighthouse Spotlight by Jennifer Faye.
Lainey and Jack’s story in A Lighthouse Snapshot by Jennifer Faye, book four in the Turner Brothers series, is a beautiful and touching story; about family, hope, and second chances in life and love. We are back in Bluestar Island with another sweet, touching romance about another of the Turner siblings; graphic artist Jack Turner and island visitor, Lainey Devereaux.
Jack is hoping to get a promotion so he can leave the island and move to to NYC, while Lainey just arrived on the island. After her mother’s death, Lainey discovered a journal her mother kept during a year of travel and reflection. Following the entries in the journal Lainey is hoping to find some answers to the secrets she believes her parents hid from her. Jack and Lainey truly meet by accident; not quite a meet cute. Jack accidently runs into Lainey with his golf cart, leaving her with partial amnesia; while knowingly she keeps her identity to herself. Feeling responsible for her wellbeing, Jack is determined to help her navigate the island. With both Jack and Lainey keeping secrets from each other, neither expected that feelings would grew between them. Bluestar Island holds the answers to the secrets Lainey’s mother and father tried to hide from her; surprising, yet angering her once she uncovers them. Once all the secrets are revealed facts are made aware that could sabotage their relationship. Fortunately the residents of Bluestar come together, allowing Jack and Lainey to realize what is truly important in life.

By the time I read the end of this book? Boom! Mind blown! No spoilers but I will admit that I never saw it coming. Great story. Elaine “Lainey” Devereaux and Jack Turner have... let’s call them secrets. They aren’t bad for anyone else, just their own truths imo. Within those ‘truths’, Lainey and Jack have heartbreaks in their pasts. The best part, for me, was reading how they worked through them as their relationship grew. There’s a wee bit of mystery woven into the story – that’s where the spoilers come in – and how they deal with their private mysteries (by themselves and then together) makes their relationship all that more special, at least for me.
Gonna be vague here but I really understood Lainey’s issues as at one point her profession intrudes upon her current life. They don’t have a ‘meet/cute’, as it involves a golf cart accident, but all is well, even if there is a bit of memory loss involved. And Jack’s cat, Tux. Pretty dang typical, that’s for sure! And adorable.
But these two make such a great couple that I found myself cheering for them from the start of the story. And the town. OMG. Not sure the term busybodies covers some of the folks! But the town of Bluestar really sticks together and I think teaches both Jack and Lainey what is important and how to live. Really enjoyed the read. Loved it!
We are back in Bluestar Island with another touching story in the series about the Turner siblings. This time the story belongs to graphic artist Jack Turner and island visitor, Lainey Devereaux. While Jack is hoping to get a promotion that would take him to NYC, Lainey has just arrived to the island following her deceased mother’s journal. She hopes to get some answers to the secrets she suspects both parents hid from her. These two literally meet by accident, when Jack collides his cart with Lainey , leaving her with partial amnesia, while she purposely keeps her identity to herself. Feeling responsible for her wellbeing, Jack is determined to help her navigate the island. What neither expected were the feelings that would develop. But what happens when Lainey discovers the secrets her parents hid from her? What happens when lies by omission affect the relationship? The story was engaging from the first page on. A story about family, hope, and second chances in life and love. Another sweet, clean and touching addition to the series. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Booksprout. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
As Lainey’s mother was passing away, she tried to tell Lainey something but died before she got out what she wanted. Lainey asked her father about it, but he wouldn’t tell her anything. As she wanted to know what they were keeping from her, she went searching in her mother’s chest in her parents’ bedroom. She found in the bottom of the chest her mother’s journal. She then took a leave from her father’s company where she was a contract attorney. She stayed out of contact with her father as she knew he would want her to come home. She ended up on Bluestar Island following a cryptic note in her mother’s diary. She ends up in an accident with short term memory loss so doesn’t remember why she is there. Jack Turner, the one who hit her is striving to take care of her while trying to get a promotion in his company as a graphic artist. They are drawn to each other and spend a lot of time together. As they tell each other their secrets, they try to help each other come to terms with their past. When secrets come to light that effects both of them, will they be able to work through the betrayals.

After attorney Lainey’s mom tries to share important information while on her deathbed, Lainey is consumed with curiosity and decides to use her mom’s old journal which describe a car trip she took. Arriving at her final destination of Bluestar Island, still none the wiser, Lainey’s inattention causes an accident which involves Jack, a life-long resident of the island, eager to escape the confines of his family. Lainey feels an inexplicable attraction to the abandoned lighthouse on the island, and the real story begins… Ms Faye weaves an intricate plot, combining small-town life on the island, the attraction between Lainey and Jack, her newly volatile relationship with her powerful father, secrets they are all keeping from one another, which all culminate in an explosive incident, in all senses of the word!. This was a great book. Every time I read a book in this series I want to find this island and visit. This was Jack and Lainey’s story and they hit it off right away. There were several twists and turns in their courtship but they kept coming back to each other. I thought I had Lainey’s secret figured out but Jennifer Faye really surprised me.

A captivating and intriguing story as Lainey sets out to retrace her mother's steps to Bluestar Island. A chance encounter with Jack leads to memory loss, friendship, love and deception which creates tensions and stress. I loved this book and the bonus episode. I highly recommend this book and author.
I read this book as part of an advance reader team and am providing a voluntary review.
This was a special story in The Bluestar Island series. I felt emotionally drawn to Lainey. I wanted to know her mom's secret and what her mom's journal would reveal. I also wanted to know what she would find on Bluestar Island. I was not disappointed as Lainey found more than she could have ever imagined and that made the story so much fun to read. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review
This is a great series. Lainey goes to Bluestar Island to seek answers to her mother's deathbed secrets. She tries to take a picture of a couple getting engaged when she is hit by Jack's golf cart. She suffers short term memory loss and struggles with where her belongings are and why she is there. I don't want to share spoilers, but this is another great book from Jennifer Faye. I was given an advanced reader copy of this book and I highly recommend it.
Another great book by the amazingly talented Jennifer Faye. I love how the characters interacted with each other. They learned things about themselves, and the way the situations were handled was thought provoking and helped the characters develop. I highly recommend this book!
I just loved Lainey and Jack but felt bad she kept things from Jack, but also kind of understand in some way. This was a great mix of romance, secrets from the past and present along with finding out what you want in life.

Jack and Lainey meet in a rather unusual way, he hits her with his golf cart, but the friendship that develops helps them both deal with their grief and lets them open their hearts to the possibility of new love. I enjoyed reading about all the interesting characters on Bluestar Island.
This clean romance was an enjoyable read. The characters were relatable and the story realistic. I gave this 3 stars because the story felt bare bones. I felt it could have been more descriptive.

With food for thought and depth of emotion, Faye has a way for getting under your skin. A Lighthouse Snapshot is cinema worthy. It digs deep into the unknown recesses of the heart and touches the soul. Beautifully, breathtaking. Hauntingly, unforgettable.
Lainey Devereaux found her Mother’s journal and begins a journey that leads her to Bluestar Island where she is hoping to find answers. What she finds is secrets from long ago. Jack Turner is finally on his way off Bluestar Island for a job in the Big Apple, until he sees a beautiful woman come rushing into his cart.
