A look into what makes a man who has nothing left but the comfort of liquor and the joy of what some would consider freedom in its purest form. It's a sad look into the psyche of the American people and our feelings toward mental health and the homeless population. The book gives a well illustrated explanation of how the titular Bowery came to be as infamous as it is. Going as far back as the 1800s to show the natural depravity of man in its most unabashed form. It's a book I'd highly recommend checking out. It's only 187 pages so it's not that long of a read if that concerns you at all.
