When the book goes into great detail about horse care and winery management, it sounded really well-researched and interesting, but when we got to a section I actually know something about (pregnancy) there were enough glaring errors to make me question whether the rest of the story is as founded in fact as I thought. (For example, getting an over-the-belly sonogram at the first OBGYN appointment, the doctor asking if they wanted to know the sex at that appointment, and then later on, painful contractions being labeled as Braxton-Hicks.)
The book really falls into the same trap as many others in this genre, where the couple has serious, deal-breaking problems that they never really talk about. They fight, they have sex, and then the MMC quietly fixes whatever he did wrong, if he can, or else the FMC just forgets to be mad about it if not. They aren’t really nice people or good for each other, but they’re both stage 5 clingers so they make it work.
