Toby's been building up quite a reputation for himself. Well, he likes to think so.It's therefore no surprise that when things go wrong for any of his canine friends, he gets called in to help them out. But this time, it's personal. The Pointy Woman is back and Toby has a bone to pick with her.
I enjoyed this book. This book is slightly different to the previous books in that Toby the spellbound hound isn't working a case for anybody else, in fact he is following up on the possibility that the witch who killed his human is back. Of course this is never simple when you are a dog and he has a lot to over come to bring the killer to justice, like transportation, talking to a non witch and making sure his current human doesn't become the next victim. It's fun getting the story from a dogs point of view and experiencing the obstacles he has to concur. I love the way Toby makes new friends along the way (and in each new book) and I hope it's not the last we have seen of this unusual pair. How the author comes up with ideas is just magical and sparks the imagination of both young and old readers or listeners and she ratchets up the fun level at the same time. Glad to see this is not the end of the series.
After seeing the pointy woman at the house in the country and the dog show, Toby is determined to prove she is back and to finally being her to justice for killing Old Joe. The problem is Old Joe's granddaughter is busy with work and Toby will need the help of some new friends and transportation in order to find out what the pointy woman has planned and more importantly why she is back because whatever she is up to it can't be good, for anybody. I liked the narrator. Even if the story wasn't good he would still make it an entertaining listen. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Toby, the intrepid Wizard dog, is still trying to find the Pointy Woman who killed his hooman, Old Joe. However, his new hooman, Clarissa, refuses to continue to put him in danger by helping him in his quest. Sal, the rat who has come to live with Toby, thinks that he might know a way to go to Blackwell Manor and search for her. That's how Toby meets Frank, a fox, and Hedda the Hedgehog.
Soon, the four new friends are traveling by hot air balloon toward the manor. However, a horrific storm crashes them before they can make a safe landing and start their search. Toby also meets another wizard, Rory, who knew Old Joe and might be able to help Toby get justice for Joe.
Before Toby can do what must be done, Clarissa goes missing and Toby has to try to communicate with her boyfriend, Detective Ed. But, will the pair be able to find and save Clarissa before something horrible happens to her?
This series is so much fun with all of the talking animals, mixed with magic and adventure. The author does a great job in describing things that Toby encounters and building up a sense of urgency. If you enjoy a well-written cozy mystery with a bit of magic and animals, you will like this book as well as the rest of the series.

Toby, spellbound hound and aspiring wizard, is a pup on a mission. Convinced that the pointy woman who killed his former master, Old Joe, has returned, he’s determined to check out the dilapidated house in the country. When Clarissa is reluctant to take him, he investigates alternate forms of transportation, first learning to ride a bike and then chartering a hot air balloon piloted by a hedgehog. He also meets a retired wizard, Rory, who warns him away from the woman and the mansion. But when Clarissa is kidnapped, Toby will do whatever it takes to rescue her. Now he just needs to figure out how to get DC Ed to understand him.
Jeannie Wycherley delivers another fantastic adventure for our favorite pup and his hoomans. This mystery is a page turning romp with plenty of humor and tension. The perspectives of the animals, Toby along with Sal, the rat, Moriarity, the cat, Godfrey, the goose, Frank, the fox, and Hedda, the hedgehog are nicely balanced with those of the humans in the story. Rory’s connection to Old Joe gives Toby some closure to that loss. Previous events in the series are alluded to but the story can stand on its own. Looking forward to more of Toby’s shenanigans.

Toby and his friend the rat, Sal, are in Toby's shed while he is painting. As he sits painting a woman he realizes it's the Pointy Woman,Miranda Dervish. She's who killed his first owner. Getting even with her is what has him perfecting his wizarding skills. Clarissa Silverwind, Old Joe’s granddaughter, comes in and notices the paintings. She chides Toby for his obsession but also understands it. On one of his walks he meets an old coven member of his first human. But when he mentions the woman's name of who killed him, the old man gets skittish, Somehow he's got it into his head that if he learns how to ride a bike he can get to the house where the pointy woman is. When Clarissa finds out why he wants the bike she tells him that it's too dangerous and she's giving the bike back to the child he took it from. Then he threatens to get another and try to learn how to bike. If he knew blackmail was a viable way to get her to take him, he would have tried sooner. Will he find the Pointy Woman there? Will he ever get his revenge on her? A great story with a little humour and a lot of mystery.

This captivating tale is brimming with adventure, featuring unexpected assistance from a most charming source. A delightful read from start to finish!
Ever since I stumbled upon Toby, Old Joe, and Clarissa a few years ago, I've been utterly captivated by this series. It's a rollercoaster of emotions - sometimes heart-wrenching, sometimes spine-tingling, and often downright hilarious. Toby and his friends never fail to bring a smile to my face, especially with their witty banter and endearing camaraderie.
If you've ever dreamed of a world where a dog can not only talk but also understand humans, then this series is an absolute must-read. Jeannie Wycherley has created a truly magical universe filled with unforgettable characters and enchanting adventures.
As I reached the last few chapters, I found myself slowing down, savoring each word, reluctant to say goodbye to Toby and his companions. Once again, Jeannie Wycherley has expertly woven Toby's story to a magnificent finish, leaving me eagerly anticipating the next installment. I simply can't wait to embark on another thrilling journey with Toby and his friends!.

Jeannie Wycherley delivers yet another enchanting tale in "Up, Pup and Away", the seventh installment of the Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery series. This book captures everything fans have come to love—heart, humor, and a dash of magical mischief—while raising the stakes for our favorite canine hero.
Toby’s journey in this story feels both fresh and familiar. The pacing is excellent, with plenty of action and intrigue to keep you hooked from start to finish. The world-building continues to shine, blending whimsical charm with suspense in a way that makes the setting feel alive. New friendships add warmth and depth to the narrative, making this adventure even more memorable.
David Winter’s narration is, as always, a perfect match for Toby’s voice and personality. His performance brings out the humor and tension beautifully, making the listening experience immersive and thoroughly enjoyable.
If you’ve been following Toby’s adventures, this book is a satisfying and delightful continuation that you won’t want to miss. Highly recommended for fans of magical mysteries and clever canine protagonists!

Toby faces his most personal and important case tracking his arch nemesis and bringing her to justice. In the previous book, Toby thinks he sighted the Pointy woman at a dog show. Now he has visions and is fixated on finding her. Clarissa is helping with research in some ancient texts, but Toby strikes out on his own you locate the Pointy woman’s home. With the assistance of some new forest friends and new (to Toby) modes of transportation, Toby finally finds her. Toby also befriends an old man in the park, but can’t decide if he is really a friend or foe. This is the most life threatening adventure for Toby and his friends. It is also the most heart clenching and tear jerking book. I loved it! The characters are so well developed and grow and mature over the course of the series. Toby and Clarissa are so well suited and I enjoy how they interact. Perhaps Clarissa’s boyfriend DC Ed will learn Toby-speak too. The narration is outstanding. His performance brings the characters and story to life.
Audiobook review: The narration is very good, easy to understand with different voices for the many characters.
Story review: Absolutely love this book and the whole series! It is very original and extremely entertaining. Toby, the Spellbound Hound, is a delightful main character. A dog who can communicate with witches, wizards, and other animals and is always on an adventure. He meets many other interesting animals and persons along his way, making friends normally or sniffing out the bad characters. This story has him searching for the woman he believes is the evil "pointy lady ", the one who killed old Joe, his orifinal human. Clarissa, Old Joe's granddaughter, Toby's current human (owner), is trying hard to protect him. You have to chuckle at Toby's reasoning and adventures as he goes about his daily activities. Both him and Clarissa have a big heart. I loved the ending of this story and can't wait to see what will come next.

Up-Pup-and-Away - a review by Rosemary Kenny. A fabulous comic-thriller by the talented Jeannie Wycherley, Up-Pup-and-Away sees Toby, (aka the Spellbound Hound) Silverwater, plus Sal the sewer rat and two more new friends sail aloft, to hunt down Toby's nemesis the Pointy Woman in the witch's lair and learn what's being plotted there. Toby's 'hooman' Clarissa and her policeman boyfriend Ed are soon in danger too, but thanks to Toby's information in the nick of time, evil is thwarted - leading to an HEA for all. Heartwarming and exciting, be sure to read Up-Pup-and-Away ...it's guaranteed to satisfy!.

Audiobook: I enjoyed this story as much as the others in the series. I felt for Toby as he worked through the events which helped him to recognize his old foe. I understood how Toby's suspicions started to affect his emotions and his perceptions. I appreciated the moments of humor which lightened some of the heavier themes in the tale. I liked Toby's newest companions: the fox and the hedgehog. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. I was entertained by David Winter's narration as his performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which reflected my honest opinions regarding this audiobook.
Up, Pup and Away: A Paranormal Cozy Animal Mystery is book #7 in the Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery series by Jeannie Wycherley.
Toby is on the hunt for the Pointy Woman. He can’t investigate on his own so he relies on current and new friends. I started this series a few books ago and this the most intense one. I love Toby. He is trying so hard to be a wizard and protect his friends. I was holding my breath at the end. I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

This book was filled with tons of old and new friends. Carissa, Detective Ed, The Pointy Woman, Sal, the rat, Toby, and new friends with the fox and hedgehog.
Toby and Sal were the duo that I never knew I needed. I am so happy to see that Sal was a main character in this book. His personality really got to shine through. When Sal snuck in when Carissa was taking a shower, so that he could clean up as well and Toby sniffed his paw and agreed that he did smell good was hilarious.
This book was a fun read as always. Looking forward to the next installment in this series.
Toby decided he needs answers to some of the questions that have arisen through out the books as some things start to come full circle as he goes on what could be a very dangerous quest for answers. I always love seeing Toby and his wee rag tag team working together along with the people he and Clarrisa come across.

I've loved all seven Spellbound Hound Magic and Mystery Books. But this latest book has been my favorite. Toby was so brave and smart in this story - and still as snarky as always. It was a wonderfully spooky story. I loved meeting Rory, and Toby's new foxy friend. I hope we see them both again. I'm also wondering whether Ed is going to remember communicating with Toby and what that will mean for his relationship with Clarissa. Great read!
Toby is determined to find the Pointed woman who killed Joe - but will it cost it cost his life - and that of his friends? Love this series - the characters are so beautiful - I love Toby! And the story lines are always unexpected and fun :-).

It's a cute mystery. Toby is a dog, and wizards/witches can understand him. He's on the hunt for Miranda Dervish, who he also calls "The Pointy Woman" because she is responsible for the death of his previous owner, Joe.

I couldn’t stop reading this! It was completely edge of my seat heart stopping. I don’t want to give anything away, but Toby’s adventures were terrifying! He and his friends could have died! This whole book was one thing after another and it was all, hold your breath and cross your fingers. I can’t wait for more of Toby’s adventures!
Set aside a day for this delightful contemporary family-friendly rescue cozy set mainly in Sun Valley in South West England where Toby the Spellbound Hound is again protecting Clarissa Silverwind from the Pointy Lady, there may be mention of commando training, and no creature is left behind.

This is such a good series. I won’t give away anything but the last couple of pages brought tears to my eyes. My heart goes out to Toby as I’m an animal lover and the things he’s been through in his life, so far, really hit hard. He’s made some good friends, both human and non human. Then, he’s met some not so nice humans too.
Toby’s obsession with the pointy woman borders on the crazy. I do understand that he needs closure for the murder of Old Joe. I love how he makes friends with all different types of creatures and how Clarissa doesn’t even bat an eye. I love these stories, they are so much fun!
Ohhhh Toby misses his Old Joe, so much!! I thoroughly enjoyed this latest adventure! And how awesome that Ed is catching on to just how incredible Toby truly is!! Such a lot of fun!!
Toby's nemesis is back the pointy woman. Toby is determined to catch her and put an end to her evil. He makes some new and interesting friend's. I love the story told from Toby's point of view and the struggles of being a trainee dog wizard. The narration is perfect.
This was my favorite book of the series so far. The narrator brought the story to life. Toby and Sal are fun as roommates. When Toby goes in search of his nemesis, he finds being a hounded, even a Spellbound Hound, does not make distance travel any easier. A delightful story that had a satisfying conclusion and excellent narration.
