Carol Dawn was born in Maysville, Kentucky, USA, under the name Carolyn Jacobs. Carol is a stay-at-home mom where she spends her days making pb&j sandwiches, picking up toys, and giving her kids more cuddles than they want.
At the young age of five, Carol received a reading medallion for reading over twenty-one books in an eight-week period. So, her literary journey began. She wrote poems, songs, short stories and read many books.
Carol has a slight (MASSIVE) obsession with alpha male/insta-love romance books. If she isn't reading about them, she's writing about them.
When she isn't writing, reading or playing mom, you will find her watching re-runs of Stargate SG1, Startrek Voyager, cooking, coloring mandalas or performing her favorite songs for her invisible audience.
I love that Carol Dawn can take real life mental "abities" & tell her characters stories with such amazing words! I can't wait to see what's next with the Obsidian MC!
This was an absolutely awesome book. Venom and Sophia were an amazing couple. This has got the makings of another incredible series by Carol Dawn. I can not wait to see the rest of the characters come forward in their own books.
I can’t believe I waited so long to read this book. I’ve read Infernal Sons by this author absolutely devoured it but this book is by far the absolute best.
Sophia has been through so much trauma and I love how the author shows her struggles with moving on and coming to terms with what happened. I like that the author showed how Sophia struggled but at the same time took steps to try and get her life back and feel some semblance of control.
As for Venom…. I have no adequate words. He is complete perfection. Slight spoiler, he has Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and the way Ms Dawn presents it is different from other DID characters I’ve read. Venom and his alters are just amazing. I love that they work together and truly one entity. I’ve never read it in a book where they can communicate with each all the time.
This book is just amazing. There are very few typos (less than 5) that happen at the beginning of the book. Even with those typos I still couldn’t bring myself to give this book anything less than 5 stars.
I wish I could give this book more than 5, stars .
Before going ahead with my review however, I must stress that this book does have triggers in regards to domestic violence, being held against their will and abuse in a variety of forms . All of this is mentioned in the front of the book that the author clearly states.
As a survivor of domestic abuse I did struggle at first reading this book but as I read more and the story unfolded I couldn't put the book down .
The author obviously spent countless hours researching the subject matters that align with this book not only in regards to domestic violence but D.I.D ( DISASSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER) which Venum the main character has.
By the time I finished reading this book I fell in love with the characters and story and I have a knew appreciation for all of the people who work tirelessly with any victims of abuse and mental disorders.
I'm looking forward to reading more in this amazing series by author Carol Dawn .

Absolutely got engrossed in this story. So much intensity and pain along with love and eventually happiness. The men in Venom’s mind are every bit a part of him and help him cope each and every day. When they find they need to protect and cover the women who enter their lives they will do everything possible.
Wow! Another amazing book and wonderful start to Obsidian MC. The author was able to take something tragic and heartbreaking and show that life can still be happy afterwards! I can't wait to read the next story in the series!
I have loved every book Carol had wrote, I admire her writing characters that are always diverse and not that stereotypical blonde hair blue eyes perfect body. This book tho took it to a whole new level. This is my opinion is the best book Carol has wrote. Venoms DID is handled and wrote so well and I love his alters (Miles, Doc and Xander) Sophia is a great MFC she is strong and loving and badass. This whole book is amazing and is a definite re read. I hope Carol never stops writing.
Travis is special. His mind is filled with others that are part of him. And saving and meeting Sophie settles all of him. But she has demons that will take all of them to save her.
Echoes From Within by Carol Dawn is Venom and Sophia's book. It was dark, gritty and disturbing at times. Venom's character was very interesting. His past was really horrendous. Sophia's story was so sad, dark and very emotional at times. It was a slow burn in the romance department. However the storyline was unique and left me satisfied. We did get a HEA as always in Carol's books. Kudos!
Heed the trigger warnings. This is a dark book. We were introduced to Venom and his multiple personalities in Bitsy and I wasn’t disappointed in his book. Sophia suffered through a traumatic life event and met Venom in the worst possible way. The storyline was handled beautifully and very well written. Like all of this author’s books, I couldn’t put in down! Another well done book! I look forward to more of this series.
This was an amazing story to add to this series, got to give it to Carol she kept me turning the pages with this emotional rollercoaster ride of emotions. Sophia had it rough, but Venom gave her what she needed and helped her turn into a strong female.
Venom is an interesting story. I have never read a book with a character that deals with Dissociative identity disorder (DID). This book was different than others. This series is going to be very good.
Well that was a good read. I loved Travis and Sophia’s story ❤️❤️❤️ Venom and his three close friends all together in one body are amazing. 100% recommend this book to everyone ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ you will not be disappointed 😎
I was so looking forward to Venom's story and this book did not let me down. Great characters and plot along with good twists and turns.. Good action and suspense. Looking forward to more books from this series.
A really good start with this new series, Obsidian MC. Travis/Venom had a horrible childhood and witnessed something that no child should ever, and in turn he wound up with DID/Dissociative Identity Disorder, or better described as other voices/characters in his head, Miles, Zander & Doc. Sophia herself suffered unimaginable pain at the hands of pure evil, Malachi.
The storyline flows well and keeps you turning the pages.
Carol has said from the beginning before even writing this book on her Facebook page, that this series would be darker than others that she's written, even though to me some of the stories in her Phantom MC were dark also, so if you have any TRIGGERS, then this series may not be for you.
I still highly recommend because Carol can weave her stories and characters into people that you love; especially Ma & Pops, but the entire Obsidian MC club have wonderful characters that you want to get to know better, just like with her next book, King.
I loved the love story between the 2 characters but the rest was kind of much. Please start putting bold trigger warnings. Yes this is an insta love HEA story. However, it is dark! Trigger warnings: With rapes, babies brought into the world from said rapes and then the babies were taken and sold. The ending was too fast as well. The climax of the book was thought out really fast and anticlimactic as well. However, the way the author has been writing the last several books, this one was better than the others. For some reason this author, looking for major differences between each book, makes the characters have disabilities or flaws that vary with each book. This one was a multiple personality disorder so it wasn’t so bad. It was just different. Unfortunately I probably will not read more from this author because the books are getting worse. However, I did like this one better than the previous ones so I gave it 4 stars.
Omg I do t have the words! This book was Amazing!! Miss Carol I forget for a time that I absolutely love your books and how awesome they truly are until I put up another one of these books and simply live for them 😍😍. Omg I absolutely love Vemon sheesh he was absolutely amazing and so were all three of his alters love love love them! Sophia ❤️😭my heart broke for her man and what she went through but the strength she has was amazing and I’m so happy she made it through. The last chapter omg I cried It was awesome great book!!!
I love Venom and Sophia! Sophia is so strong. After all shes been through. Venom is an amazing man; and xander, miles and doc. Lol. Two strong amazing people having survived strenuous circumstances to find each other. And let’s not forget little Allie and baby Hope. What an amazing family. What an amazing story. It touched me so in many ways. I laughed at times. I cried at times. This book made me feel every emotion. I would definitely recommend it.
I enjoyed this story. Carol Dawn did a great job on Venom and Sophia's story, the story was written well, the plot was strong, the characters were as well. Sophia and Venom, they were made for one another, their connection was strong, the two were drawn to each other, their chemistry was off the charts, steamy, they were great together. The two made a strong pair. I'd suggest reading. Thank you, Carol Dawn. Great work :) Looking forward to reading more :)
Following a traumatic childhood, Venom develops (DID) Dissociative Identity Disorder – he has 3 other personalities, all of which are as likable as him. Sophia has survived unbelievable horrors when they meet.
Another excellent story by Carol Dawn, it’s dark and gritty and covers sensitive and traumatic situations. Plenty of danger and drama. I read it in one sitting and I’m looking forward to reading more of the series.
This book was dark but so good. The characters were so unique and made you not want to put the book down. Venom was such a dynamic character. I have never read a character so fascinating. I loved the relationship they all have. Sophia broke my heart but I really liked reading her journey. How she handled things and her thought process were so much more real then I have read before. I am so excited to read more of this series!
