I didn’t expect this devotional to stay with me the way it did. Numbers: A Devotional Look at How God Led Israel Through the Wilderness by F. Wayne Mac Leod took a book of the Bible I usually just skim through and made it feel real and personal. Reading through it felt like walking alongside Israel in the wilderness, but also quietly seeing parts of my own life in it too. Those moments of waiting, confusion, and not really knowing what’s next, it all just felt familiar in a way I wasn’t expecting. What I liked most is that it doesn’t feel heavy or overly complicated. It’s simple, reflective, and honest. It doesn’t try to force lessons on you, it just gently helps you see them for yourself. And somehow that makes it stick more. It also reminded me that even in seasons where things feel stuck or uncertain, God isn’t absent. That was probably the part that stayed with me the most. It’s the kind of book you read slowly, not because it’s hard, but because it makes you pause and think without even trying to.
