A Cup of #2

A Cup of Wanderlust

Rate this book
Alexis Gorgun, the author of the ‘Cup of’ series, is back at it in this hilarious and steamy rom-com about a vacation fling between Hayden, an overworked CEO, and Bree, an impulsive artist.

When your hot, rich seatmate asks for your phone number on a plane, you’re supposed to give it to him. But not this time. I’m having too much fun playing games with big shot Hayden Watson to give into him now.

One twelve-hour flight later, and I’m *this close* to offering him everything he wants. Turns out Hayden is the best distraction. And I need all the distraction I can get from the fact that Istanbul is the last place I ever wanted to visit.

So, when he suggests I stay with him, I propose a new game between us. One brimming with temptation, testing who can resist the longest without giving in. But Hayden has two conditions of his own. The first is that we continue our truth and truth game from the plane, and the second is that we end when the trip ends.

We started out as fun and games, but what do you do when you accidentally fall for the one man who’s supposed to have an expiration date?

✨ARC Review✨

This is the first book I have read from this author and I can safely say it did not disappoint and I will 100% read more from this author in the near future 🫶🏼

This book follows Bree and Hayden, and I honestly clicked with these characters so much as I found them so relatable. Bree is just a beautiful and strong woman inside and out, she suffers from PTSD and my heart broke for her at times🥺 Hayden is completely burnt out from being over worked (and I related so hard with my own job rn). Bree and Hayden actually meet on a flight, as they are seated next to one another, and this is how the adventure begins.

As we journey through this book the characters become closer and closer and start to heal one another in their own ways. I enjoyed the character growth of both Bree and Hayden. This book really hits you right in the feels, I swooned, I laughed my ass off, and I teared up 🥺

These characters also had AMAZING chemistry and we get quite some steamy scene🌶️

I loved how both characters took a gamble/risk and it turned out to be an experience of a life time and this is clearly evident as the book progresses. Like you only life once so you might as well enjoy life at its fullest.

Tropes:
- Slow burn
- Forced Proximity
- Friends to Lovers
- Insta-Lust
- He Falls First
- Golden retriever/ cinnamon roll MMC
- Mental Health Rep

Thank you so much to the author for providing this e-arc for my honest thoughts✨

Alexis Gorgun is new to me and I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this book. However, I was blown away by how incredibly well-written this book was. It was a perfect mixture of emotion, love and adventure.

What to Expect:
- Forced Proximity
- Slow Burn
- Meet Cute
- Friends-to-Lovers,
- Insta-Love
- Cinnamon Roll Alpha,
- He Falls First
- Mental Health Rep
- Travel
- LOL Moments

Bree was strong in every sense of the word. She suffered from PTSD and it wasn’t easy for her. I felt for her because it kind of hit home for me, as I suffer from severe PTSD and have done since my childhood. She was so strong-willed though and pushed through so much of it. Hayden is extremely overworked and he’s really unhappy but when these two meet they embark on an adventure of a lifetime, which ultimately changes their lives!

I’m not going to give too much away, but I will say that this book was so beautifully written, so descriptive and the fact the characters toured the city of Istanbul experiencing everything it has to offer. The beautiful culture and delicious food and how the author describes all these places, the food, the drinks, the culture and all the experiences they had together. It’s giving me an itch to travel!

As the book progresses, these two get closer and they form a connection and they begin to heal together in ways people would not understand. It’s a bumpy ride and it’s a long road ahead but with each other, they are forced to be reckoned with.

This book may have been a rom-com, and yes, there were so many parts that had me laughing my head off but it was also emotionally charged and had depth and growth between both of the characters as a couple and them as individuals and everything they had been through their live and then you add in the off the charts chemistry and undeniable attraction between these two and you get some pretty hot and steamy sex!

I’m so glad I took a chance on this author! I am excited to check out the rest of her books!

5 STARS!

In the beginning, this was really good. It was quick, funny, entertaining and the banter was really fun. But the minute they got together it’s like someone else started writing the story. The amount of cringy and cheesy shit said, the unnecessary third act break up - i really wish authors would stop with it, contrary to what they might think it doesn’t always make sense or make the book any better - and don’t even get me started with the dog thing. That was the most ridiculous reason for anyone to spend money and travel to a whole other continent. I’m really disappointed with how this ended.

Now i’m not one for writing reviews but after seeing this all over tiktok and being lucky enough to have this book sent to me By the amazing Alexis i just knew i needed to do this.

Bree a girl who’s just removed the final letter from her exs name and blocking him has decided the only way to get over this heartbreak is to book a spontaneous trip to Istanbul. After boarding her flight she’s hoping that no one takes the last seat on the plane next to her. No one like the middle seat…

Hayden a CEO in desperate need for a vacation has just found out his assistant has booked his ticket for the wrong class. A man who’s use to travelling in style has to slum it up in economy after finding out there’s no seats left in buisness and no other flights… Naturally he’s unhappy, who really wants to sit in economy for 11 hours? Sure as hell not me.

When Bree realises “mr hottie” will be taking the last seat next to her maybe the middle seat won’t be too bad. After talking on the plane Bree and Hayden make an arrangement. Spend their 10 days in Istanbul together and go their separate ways. Simple right? Keep each other company and then go back to being strangers. A lot can happen in 10 days but what could possibly happen this time…

Now i’m not normally one for cute romances, i’m definitely a dark romance type of gal. But wow i am so glad i read this. A cup of wanderlust is my first book written by Alexis Gorgun and i can happily say it won’t be the last. The chemistry, the story and dammm those spicy chapters had me hooked from the first page.
I encourage anyone who loves a cute romance but also that forced proximity to give this book a read!!

Literally glazed through this book because of how dissatisfying it was, my gosh.

Hayden and Bree glad y’all are happy but please fix your drinking problem fr. If you aren’t getting drunk you’re having sex, it’s meh the first two times but it occurring in every other interaction is wild.

Please the interaction with the main characters were soo hating because what in the wattpad high school graduate were those interactions😦⁉️ it was the worst thing ever.

Was not a fan of anything in this book except the description of the food it was doing a bit too much but it’s food soo i wasn’t that upset

A Cup of Wanderlust by @alexisgorgunauthor

This is Book 2 in the "A Cup of. . " Series. I'm reading this as an ARC, I didn't think I would have time to read book #1 in time to get this one done, but . . . I ATE THIS BOOK UP. It took me about 5 collective hours to read this book, and every time someone spoke to me, interrupted me, or I had to do things like - eat? Cook? Life? I got mad.

So, this story is phenomenal.

Our MCs are travelers, heading away on vacation & and meeting on the airplane. The connection is instant for both sides, and they end up spending their entire vacation together.

Bree - FMC - is vibrant, beautiful, unexpected, and full of life! She exudes confidence and joy at almost every turn. She appears to be the embodiment of the phrace "live life to the fullest", meanwhile, deep down, whe is just running.

Hayden - MMC - is gorgeous, broody, passionate, and a workaholic. He cares more those around him than he does himself more often than not. He appears to have the strength & confidence of the Gods. Meanwhile, deep down, he is cracked & feels unlovable.

These two have decided that at the end of this vacation, they will go their seperate ways. Or will they?

************************

This is my first ever book by Alexis, and I am pleasantly surprised. It was very well written, the scenery, the experiences, the flavors, and the sensations just float off the pages. I felt like I could experience the world that our characters were experiencing. It was quite magical.

Excellent Read.
Highly Recommend.

A Cup of Wanderlust like its name implies is a fun, flirty, freestyle adventure between two souls searching for purpose. 10 days of challenges lead Bree and Hayden on a winding journey of passion and healing. The spice lasts for days, and set against the beautiful backdrop of Turkey this novel feels like a vacation.

Two things I liked

1. Well we definitely turned the spice dial up a notch that’s for sure…and I’m not complaining. Added to that Turkey is such a beautiful location that I makes everything feel just a bit more magical.

2. Alexis Gorgun has yet again shown us how journeys of trauma, hope, and healing are done. I was impressed with the last book, A Cup of Zodiac, and I was not disappointed this time around either. Very well written, very well done.

One thing I didn’t

1. This really only applies if you’re an animal lover. While I understand the trauma personally, those parts were some of the hardest to get through. But I stand by my previous statement that it was really well written regardless.

Overall, the sun and fun of the Mediterranean was a nice reprieve from the cloudy skies of the northern west coast. As the second book in a series, it’s a great follow-up and continuation to Anders and Zoe’s story but also works well as its own spicy standalone. A great reminder that life could always use a little spontaneous adventure.

I received a copy of A Cup of Wanderlust by the sweet Alexis Gorgun for an honest review.
And let me tell you, I am so happy that she sent it to me.
I started reading this and was instantly drawn in to the story, Im not going to explain the story as most are doing that but I will explain my feelings.

Bree is one whirlwind of exitement and Hayden is too, but you wont notice until he lets lose.
Their conversations made me laugh and feel and cry, and that chemestry plus the bantering..... I LOVED every second of it.
Plus it is set in Istanbul so that makes a nice change as well, feeling as if you yourself are on a mini holiday!

This book is so down to earth and so good written that it sucks you in and make you live the story with them.
I loved the build up to the smexy bits (DAMN THEY WERE SO GOOD!!) But also the more serious parts of the book.
I even cried towards the end because I was sucked in so deep.
I loved this book and wish I could read it for the first time again.

Its a short (for me) book that was a good read in between as I normally read the morally grey and dark romances.
But I am pretty sure I will turn back to this one more than once to relive their story.
This was my first book from Alexis but it will definitely not be the last.

I loved this book! It was the perfect mix of adventure and love. The characters are deeply emotional and strong willed. Bree is suffers some deep PTSD issues from an attack. Hayden is overworked and miserable. Together they embark on an adventure neither of them ever expected.

I don't want to give too much away, so I will keep this one short. This book was amazing. It was a beautiful adventure of culture and food. Lots of food. Our characters tour the city of Istanbul experiencing all it has to offer. Going to places that are beautiful and exotic.

Hayden and Bree heal each other in ways they can't imagine. But it won't be an easy road. They will hit many bumps along the way, but in the end it will be rewarding.

I enjoyed the story and historic aspects. It was interesting and highly entertaining. The dogs made a interesting storyline. The troubles and issues our characters face is life like and easily relatable. You can't help but feel the fear and trouble that our characters go through. This book is full of soul searching.

I recommend this book to all you adventure seekers out there.

Looks like I need me to find a multi-millionaire on a 12-hour plane flight. Hello, I need a Hayden in my life, because the banter between Hayden and Bree is quite literally what I want in a relationship. Can we also take a minute to appreciate how Alexis Gorgun was able to depict the traumas of both Hayden and Bree, more so of Bree's trauma, but I still loved seeing Hayden's side. Being able to read through Hayden's POV was everything. Knowing about all the small moments and how he was so intrigued by Bree from the start. I love reading Dual POV books, because we actually get to see the guy's point of view on the romantics. Obviously, Hayden was written by a girl, but we girls can only wish that there are guys like Hayden out there, maybe without him telling us we are a mess though. But like it's okay Hayden I would forgive you too, maybe. Bree was so strong for handling her fears of dogs and when she finally let Bibet touch her, I teared up. I also cried when Bree and her mum finally talked and opened up, it was a very nice touch to the book.

I received this ARC for review, all opinions are my own and given freely. Thank you Alexis Gorgun! 🤍

A Cup of Wanderlust turns out to be book 2 in the “Cup of” series. I did not read A Cup of Zodiac before reading this. I do feel as though it can be read as a stand-alone but I definitely want to read Zodiac in the future. It’s my understanding the characters do intertwine throughout so perhaps read Zodiac first if you’re really into knowing the who’s who beforehand.

The very first page had me hooked w Bree’s tried and true way to filter out the “weeds”. I found myself w a goofy ass grin on my face throughout this entire book. I really liked both main characters, Bree and Hayden. This was one of those feel good reads for me. The one and only thing I didn’t really understand or see the point of was them depriving themselves of each other for a few days when they agreed they were going to hook up anyway! I mean sure it adds to the slow burn but their chemistry was smokin from the jump so why deprive themselves. Haha. Not only was this book a feel good rom-com w plenty of spice, it also harbors learning to face fears, follow dreams, forgiving and loving yourself. Which I absolutely adored.

Alexis Gorgun is a new to me author. I can say w certainty, I’ll be watching for her books in the future.

I dedicated a post on my bookstagram to this book, check it out here:

ARC Review.
Let me tell you that this book did not disappoint. First book that I have read from this author so I wasn't sure what I was getting myself into.

Two people meeting by chance, each going on a trip to Istanbul. Bree, struggling with the effect of PTSD from a traumatic event and Hayden, extremely over worked and trying to escape.
A mistake in ticketing puts them together on their long plane ride and they are both drawn to each other.
Making a deal to spend the next ten days with each other during their vacation there. Hayden showing her around the country and just enjoying the time they have together. A trip fling and nothing more. Things slowly chance as they explore together and start falling deeper into each other. Both loving they time, yet both dreading when it will end.

I do not usually read Romantic Comedy, leaning toward dark romance. This book was definitely worth the read. It was super cute and the spice was sooo delicious. This book is a must read!!

I received this ARC from the author, Alexis Gorgun, in exchange for a review. This was the first of Gorgun's books that I have read, and it will not be the last!

This was such an easy read and very well written. It would have been a one-sit read if I didn't have to make a Thanksgiving casserole (LOL). The story follows Bree and Hayden, who meet when they sit next to each other on an international flight. They decide to spend their vacation together. Without any spoilers - I really enjoyed the growth of the characters individually and together. I was rooting for and identified with both of them in certain ways. I think a lot of readers will be able to connect to them. The ending was *chef's kiss*

I have not read the first book in this series, but it was fine because you can read this as a standalone or after the first. Just depends on what you prefer!

The story is very sweet but ALSO spicy! Buckle UPPPP.

Thank you to Alexis Gorgun's ARC team. I really enjoyed this!!

3.5 ⭐️ rounded down

I loved the chemistry between the MC's and their families. The way Haydens family accepted Bree and hiw they plotted to hunt her down at the end was Hilarious

I love how Alexis portrayed the Trauma possessing I love how it was messy and imperfect and not always easy rather than the instantly perfect one that's always in books sometimes

I hated how Hayden used her Trauma and insecurity against her. Even tho she played on his rejection issues. But I didn' feel like it was great enough for that impact and the grovelling to me was was very mid. And I wanted him to do it more

Bur hiw the author described Tyrkey and went for it rather than lets say the us or UK was an amazing move on her part. Now I know where to go if I'm ever in Turkey for touring

I also feel thus was very over rated on booktok or bookstagram for me it wasn't actually as glamorous as it was portrayed to be but it was a good book over all

This book was adorable. It was a nice break from the dark romance books I have been reading recently.
The story was adventurous and fun with lots of giggles at Bree's antics. There's a bit of angst, but it's built in well. Both of the main characters are fun, and they draw you into the story so well. Hayden's family is the best, and I loved every bit of them.
This book does cover some hard emotional trauma and scars, but it is done so well that your heart hurts for them and heals with them as they go. Not gonna lie, I judged Bree's distaste in animals in the beginning, but as her back story is revealed, I couldn't help but root for her. Both of the main characters were written well, and I am so glad I had the honor of previewing this book.
The epilog was the perfect ending.

This is my first book by the author and while it is totally different than what I normally read( think suuuuper dark mafia and mc/ secret society type books) I actually really liked it! It was a great pallet cleanser in between darker reads. The fmc is my favorite she is spunky and while she doesn’t really know what she wants to do with her life she knows what she wants when it comes to men and isn’t afraid to get what she wants or leave when she isn’t into it anymore. The mmc is a sweetheart with a dirty side. He knows what he wants from day one and isn’t hesitant about going after it. The insta attraction was a nice read. I definitely recommend for those who may like modern romance on the more descriptive spicy side

I absolutely loved this romance between Hayden and Bree, two of my favorite characters ever. The trust and vulnerability they shared in small earned increments is so sweet and the games they played to get there sexy and fun. Their dialogue and banter is clever and witty, and their chemistry is hot from the moment they meet. The story of the dog, Bilet, and how he helped others added such an interesting heartwarming twist. The narrative is so well-written and unique that I didn't want it to end. Fortunately, I found out there is a book before this one and I immediately bought it. They work very well as standalone novels, but share a few characters.

I received a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

If I didn’t have to adult, I would have finished this book in a day! I adore the individual stories of Bree and Hayden, but the story of them learning to be really vulnerable and eventually loving each other was captivating and beautifully written. As a reader, I was rooting for them from the very start! And as a bonus, the spice is absolutely fabulous!

The real “star of the show” though is the setting. After reading this book I want to see all the sights, eat all the food, and drink all the drinks! What an incredibly magical place for two people to fall in love.

Don’t just add this to your never-ending TBR, make this your next read. You won’t regret it!!

This is an arc review. I was so excited to read this book, because I have not read anything from this author before. I love me a good story with back-and-forth, sarcasm, jokes, and love. Hayden is top-notch, and I just love the dialogue and back-and-forth between the two characters. The history and events that happened to Bree and her mom were heartbreaking but I’m glad they worked through a lot of it. The story makes me want to travel now. The spice was absolutely perfect and I love that there was also a really great story. I will definitely be reading the other book in the series now, and looking forward to other titles by the author.

Genre-> YA romance
Tropes -> vacation fling, healing

Plot -> i’m sorry but the writing was just like wattpad? like it didn’t flow well, in fact even wattpads got better writing. i feel like the author tried to just force the third act breakup to add drama, and the plot line was interesting, but just not executed well—

Characters -> Bree - she’s so unique and quirky wow. but after getting to know her character, i’d say she’s a solid 10

Hayden - the reasons he argued for at the end were just… pointless. literally way too forced and out of his character. but he did good when trying to win her back.

overall rating-> 2.2/5

I was happily surprised by how much I loved this book.

I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy via the author on Facebook, and I'm SO glad i signed up.

It was a HOT (Smokin' hot) strangers to lovers, vacation to forever romance, that had me laughing out loud and smiling so much my cheeks hurt.

Every single character had depths, growth and most importantly... loveable. You follow them on a journey of love, self discovery and smuttygoodness.

I couldn't stop reading... and I recommend you buy as soon as its available!

Hayden is the new standard for boyfriends - both real and fictional.

This was the perfect mix of spicy, romcom, and emotional depth.

The descriptions of Istanbul were gorgeous and make me want to go back (provided I have Hayden as a guide!)

One of my favorite reads in a long time, 10/10 recommend.

*Warning: the book does include PTSD due to a dog attack and brief, vague recollections of the attack itself. As a huge dog lover, I was a little hesitant to continue when the MFC has a strong dislike of animals but part of the book is her overcoming those fears and trauma.

A cup of wanderlust is truly a magnificent and wholesome romance story. It was written beautifully. This is my first story by this author but will definitely not be my last.

This is a slow burn book with perfect amounts of tension, but when the spice started it really started!
Hayden and Bree are up there with some of my favourite book couples ever! I just want to go on their adventures with them for the rest of my life!

LOVED this book!! 2 strangers meet, decide to take a chance on each other and spend 10 days together. 10 days and done..or so we think. Loved that both Hayden and Bree are perfectly imperfect!! You find yourself cheering for their HEA.
If you want honesty, romance, some past baggage and 2 characters who are so close to taking the leap to push through their issues and finally find love…this is your book!!
I just loved Hayden & Bree and am looking forward to reading more from this author.

I absolutely adore travel romance, and this book is one of the best that I have read! It grabbed ahold of me from page one, and didn't let go. The banter between Hayden and Bree made me laugh out loud so many times and they kept me on the edge of my seat with the "will they, won't they". I loved every single second of it. I never thought to visit Turkey, but after the way the author described the places, food, people, etc., I totally want to look into it. I cannot recommend this book enough.
