Location Drawing : Drawings from Around the World

Rate this book
It is said that if you can’t draw well you can’t paint
well. I am one who believes that to be true. Also,
a good drawing often overshadows a lesser colored
painting. I have taught drawing for 26 years at a
highly recognized college illustration program and I
have sketched in 56 countries. This book shows some
of those drawings in a variety of approaches and
several different tools. Pencil, ink, colored pencils,
etc. Some of these were done on location while sitting
on a bench, stair, rock wall or any spot available.
And some under a roof’s overhanging shelter from
the drizzle of rain, others done in the comfort of my
studio from rough sketches, studies or photos, or
earlier sketches.
There are many things to learn in order to produce
quality drawings. Perception, balance, composition,
value, perspective, focal points, quality of line, what
to include and what to leave out, field of vision, tips
for beginners, etc.
