Very good book to understand and create business stories of your own. It combines good explanation with examples and relevant insights on the subject. It has theory, practice, examples and it seems to me that in this way you get the most value out of it. Would definitely recommend it!

This is a book that, in its own way has got me hooked again on implementing and making storytelling part of what I do. Not just professionally, but also personally. Dolan and Naidu both made it easy for anyone to pick up the book and make use of some of the principles they teach. Highly recommended read for anyone from any background.

That said though, they made some pretty strong claims about what to do and what-not-to-do in storytelling which I found too restrictive, such as the claim that one shouldn't start telling a story by saying "Let me tell you a story." Having had my own experience of storytelling, I find that being flexible with yourself and giving yourself a certain degree of freedom, instead of being bogged down by do's or don'ts rules works best.

A story is not the same as a metaphor or an analogy. Metaphors and analogies provide your audience with an easy way to compare something but do not necessarily engage or inspire. Beware the metaphor or analogy that itself needs further explanation. In a business context you need to use a combination of metaphors, analogies and stories.

Metaphors and analogies when you want to give your audience a quick way of understanding something, and stories to connect, engage and inspire. Use the language appropriate for that particular audience.

Simple and clear guidance on storytelling

This is a very simple and clear book on how to bring storytelling into you working life.

I have already leveraged and shared 2 stories from this book, in my own way, as the stories were so relatable to what I was communicating.

This is a good book to help start the journey into storytelling.

Helpful in understanding the beauty of dialogue. Storytelling is an art that needs to be honed to perfection. It takes time, practice, and the right audience.
Biggest takeaway is that if the audience is not right, cut your losses and move on.
