Kōsuke Fujishima (藤島康介, born July 7, 1964) is a Japanese manga artist.
Born in Chiba, Japan, he first came to public attention as an editor of Puff magazine, his first job after completing high school. Fujishima originally intended to be a draftsman, but took the editorial role after failing to get a drafting apprenticeship. He later became assistant to manga artist Tatsuya Egawa in the production of the Making Be Free! manga, and in 1986 began his first original manga series You're Under Arrest. His second manga series Oh My Goddess!, also translated as Ah! My Goddess, is extremely popular and has made Fujishima a household name in Japan. In addition, he is also well known as the character designer for several games in the Tales RPG video game series and Sakura Wars.
He is known for his love of automobiles and motorcycles, and several of his series and their characters reflect this, such as in éX-Driver and Oh My Goddess!.
World: The art is stunning, the details for the characters, the vehicles, the sense of motion and the small beautiful emotions, perfect. The world building is small and intimate like the rest of the series. The world expands a bit but it's always because of the characters.
Story: A wonderful end to the racing story and a cute and emotionally strong story with Dr. Moreau. The ideas behind it are basic and expected but it's the emotions that really make this book so special. The next arc with Hasegawa is also great with a focus on her and her growth. This change in focus from Kei and Bell is a nice little diversion.
Characters: The focus on the robots and then Hasegawa was great. We get more depth for them and see that the world and the characters of this world are not just about Kei and Bell. I love it.
The main appeal of this volume seems to be on Banpei and Robo as a professor finds them so interesting he wants to take them apart. It's leads to growth for the two robotic characters and Robo even gets a new name that isn't just robot. It's a sweet moment today the least and its continues to make this series worth reading.
