Maeve is perfectly content with her simple life in the woods…until an unexpected encounter with a wizard thrusts her into an unwanted magical apprenticeship. Although she’s reluctant to leave her struggling family behind, Maeve will do anything to help her ailing brother, including honing the magic she didn't know she possessed until she has the skill required to perform a magical cure.
One day both her magical education and carefully laid plans go awry when a mistaken ingredient creates not a spell for healing, but a curse that transforms her into a frog. Left with no other course, Maeve is forced to rely on the wizard and secret prince, Alden, whose distraction with anything not pertaining to magic leaves him as the last man she can rely on.
Unaware of his new frog companion’s true identity as his apprentice, Prince Alden and Maeve work together to compete in a magical contest whose prize will give both of them their greatest desire. Amid all manner of charms, spells, and enchantments—as well as the dangers brought by the other competitors and a mysterious curse slowly robbing each contestant of their powers—Alden and Maeve will need to find the strength to overcome the obstacles hindering their journey in order to open their eyes to the possibility that the greatest spell of all might not be the magical ambitions they’re striving for, but the true love that has been in disguise all along.
Inspired by The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Frog Princess
Camille Peters was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah where she grew up surrounded by books. As a child, she spent every spare moment reading and writing her own stories on every scrap of paper she could find. Becoming an author was always more than a childhood dream; it was a certainty.
Her love of writing grew alongside her as she took local writing classes in her teens, spent a year studying Creative Writing at the English University of Northampton, and graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in English and History. She’s now blessed to be a full-time author.
When she’s not writing she’s thinking about writing, and when’s she’s not thinking about writing she’s…alright, she’s always thinking about writing, but she can also be found reading, at the piano, playing board games with her family and friends, or taking long, bare-foot walks as she lives inside her imagination and brainstorms more tales.
Another adorable story from this author! The magical apprentice storyline was so cute, and I loved the twist on the Frog Prince! Overall, the story is pretty low stakes, but that makes it a very cozy read that focuses on the character development of the two leads!
Get ready to be immersed in a world of wonder, magic and romance!
As usual Camille Peters created a rich world so realistic you can almost taste it, with characters so endearing you want to remain with them forever.
Alden was an absolute delight. I adored his corky personality in Forgotten and loved him even more in this book. His persistence in getting what he wants--Maeve to be his apprentice then to win the competition--is utterly endearing. At first he seems slightly cocky but you soon realize that it is just a front, as he constantly feels the need to prove himself as more than just his station in life.
I absolutely adored Maeve and her spunk and determination. She wants nothing more than to create a better life for her little brother. She has been taking care of him and her mother for most of her life. The idea of learning magic while tempting, is only something she is willing to do, not for herself but to help heal her brother.
Their back and forth was absolutely delightful and had me laughing so many times. Then when she accidentally turned her self into a frog--*gasp*. I was so impressed with how realistic it felt.
Talking animals can easily feel cartoonish or cheesy but this didn't feel like that at all. The attention to detail made it feel like turning into a frog could actually happen. As a frog her perspective was completely different all the way down to how she sees the world. And she can't start spouting sonnets, she needed a little magic to give her a voice, otherwise indecipherable croaks and hops are all she has to communicate with.
I LOVED this book and can't recommend it enough! An enjoyable magical journey all the way till the end with unexpected twists and turns and of course sweet and swoony romance (only kisses).
This was a fun twist on both the Frog Prince and the Sorcerer's Apprentice!
I really enjoyed how Camille Peters weaved the two tales together, and I liked how Maeve and Alden's friendship developed between the intertwined retellings.
I was a little fuzzy on the details of the competition- I found it hard to follow what was going on or what the stakes even were, so it was one of those things that I just didn't question too much and just went with, which I'm okay with doing in this type of retelling.
Are you ready for another delightful Enchanted Kingdom Chronicles book? I loved it so much! I was excited to see that the author had another book written in this series. And I loved how she brought back characters from the first book and they had a part to play in Prince Alden's story.
Maeve and Alden were fun to watch banter back and forth as they first met. He was very excited to discover her magical abilities and to try to convince her to join him and learn more about magic and develop her own gifts.
I adored watching Maeve discover who she was and what she was capable of. And the same with Prince Alden. They both had a lot of growth that needed to happen and I loved watching them help each other to do so. Sometimes Prince Alden was a little oblivious to Maeve and her needs as his apprentice, but he was a little determined and sidetracked in his pursuit of becoming a better wizard.
And Maeve accidentally cursing herself and becoming a frog. It created so many great scenes! Prince Alden might be a bit embarrassed after her curse is broken and he thinks through some of their conversations. Hahaha! But the readers will sure love it all!
I loved the goodness of both of these characters. Camille Peters is a master at creating characters and developing their character arc. She creates real and relatable characters that her readers can feel a connection with and have a desire for them to achieve their dreams and goals in their stories!
Another win for me by this author with this book! Now I'm anxiously awaiting to see what else she has in store for me and all of her readers!!!
Content: Clean.
I received a copy from the author via StoryOrigin. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.
– this is part of a series, but can be read as a stand-alone
– this is told from Maeve & Alden’s points of view
– Maeve’s brother is sickly
Review:
If you love the enchanter with an enchantress in training dynamic (similar to K. M. Shea’s Fairy Tale Enchantress series), you are going to love this story! I loved getting to know both Maeve & Alden as the story progressed with neither truly knowing how the other lived/grew up until it came up in their conversations. I loved that Maeve actually slightly resented Alden at first with the little bit of information she discovered as to why he needed an apprentice, but due to her froggy predicament she stayed longer than she probably would have. It gave her an opportunity to truly get a chance to see the man behind the wizard that Alden was and things that affected his decision in choosing her as his apprentice. I also loved getting to see the magical book again (I’d first seen this particular finicky book in The Beast and the Enchantress – which I believe is Alden’s parents’ story) and it’s ‘hand’ in making the both of them realize that they fell for each other in the midst of their adventure. I am so excited for the next book in this series and to go back and read the first one when I get the chance to!
Summary:
Maeve never dreamed of a life outside of caring for her ailing brother alongside her mother and she still doesn’t. But after a recent run in with a wizard, Maeve discovers that she may have another way to help in her brother’s care by way of magic that she never knew she had access to. Though hesitant to leave home during her family’s constant state of need, the strong desire to give her brother a better life has Maeve agreeing to accompany the wizard in an apprenticeship with the goal of learning more of the healing properties of magic. But in her haste to help her brother get better, Maeve makes a mistake that leads to accidentally creating a curse instead of a healing potion. Now in the form of a frog, Maeve must turn to her mentor for help…but finds it difficult to voice her situation and identity due to the curse’s restrictions…
Alden has aspirations that can only be achieved through a magical contest that he finally receives an invitation to shortly after having acquired his new apprentice Maeve. But the steps of the contest prove to be more complex than he expected to encounter and when he summons his magical book companion from home for help, it for some reason brings along a frog surrounded in magic. A frog who soon becomes a quite insightful companion that helps him decipher what route he should take on the contest’s tasks. But something else appears to be afoot in this contest that has both contestants & the judges quite concerned – the surprising diminishment of magic within all the contestants. With timed tasks and magic seeming to grow weaker and weaker, Alden and his frog companion have their work cut out for them if they are going to end this contest with a favorable outcome…
"Charmed" by Camille Peters is a captivating blend of The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Frog Princess, taking a delightful twist on the more familiar Frog Prince narrative. This was my first time reading a retelling of The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Frog Princess and I was thoroughly intrigued by the creative and magical story woven by Peters in The Enchanted Kingdom Chronicles. Maeve's journey from a simple life in the woods to an unexpected magical apprenticeship unfolds with engaging character development and a rich tapestry of magical elements. The unexpected twists, including a magical competition (with the reveal about the true cause of the underlying issue throughout the competition being something that I really enjoyed as I really didn’t expect it) and Maeve's frog transformation, keep the reader thoroughly entertained.
True to its title, the story is utterly charming and enchanting, infused with so much creative magic that was such a pleasure to read and really brought the story to life. I really enjoyed the heroine, Maeve, who for all her spirt, is such a caring person and devoted to her younger brother, Corbin who was a very lovable character. Her banter with the wizard and prince, Alden, was really enjoyable. Alden, a male character who is also grappling with self-doubt and insecurities, provided a refreshing read. His journey towards growth and love, particularly through the enchanting connection with Maeve, resonates deeply. Though he had his flaws and insecurities, he was a good man and such a good fit for Maeve. I really enjoyed both characters' journeys of falling in love and growth, but especially Alden's, as his resonated with me on a personal level.
In addition to the delightful narrative twists, "Charmed" further explores Demetria, the daughter of Gladen and Astrid from "The Beast and the Enchantress." Demetria's inherently good lineage contrasts with the uncertainty surrounding her character, adding depth to the narrative. The anticipation of potential revelations about her path and choices, coupled with the intriguing connection to her parents, enhances anticipation to further explore her story and I hope she will receive an installment in this charming series. The desire to explore Ciaran's story, who seeks a solution for his kingdom's curse in the upcoming book, further contributes to the excitement surrounding The Enchanted Kingdom Chronicles crafted by Camille Peters.
"Charmed" stands as a fantastic installment in The Enchanted Kingdom Chronicles, skillfully blending magic, romance, and creative retelling. Peters weaves a tale of self-discovery, change, and overcoming doubt, making it a compelling addition to the series. As the story unfolds with unexpected twists and delightful characters, readers will find themselves eagerly anticipating the next enchanting adventure in this magical world.
*I revived an ARC in exchange for an honest review and all opinions are my own.*
If I could sum up my review in a single sentence, it would be to prepare yourself for a magical journey complete with a feisty heroine, quirky love interest, and a touch of amphibian transformation.
Maeve was so easy to root for. Every interaction with her brother had me in tears. She is a feisty heroine and her love and dedication for her brother had me melting. I also adored the magic system and the way magic was approached in this book. The way magical theory was explained had me chortling. As a college student, I can verify that it was extremely realistic. On the same topic, even the way Alden was 'teaching' Maeve magic at the beginning of the book was eerily similar to the way many of my professors teach.
Changing topics, I was pleasantly surprised by how riveting I found this book. Normally I tend to steer clear of any sort of fairy tale retelling that involves one of the main characters turning into an animal. I feel like unless there is a good storyline going on in the background, the entire experience is painful. I was very pleased that Charmed was able to remain intriguing, even once Maeve turned into a frog. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time!
I also want to talk about Alden. The instant he came on page I began dying of joy. His character was reminiscent of the old Disney movie The Sword in the Stone. He seemed to be a younger, attractive version of Merlin. In short, he has all the eccentricities and quirks that make a wonderful wizard, and an interesting character, paired with the charm and intrigue necessary for a good love interest.
Overall, Charmed is a charming book (pun intended) filled with romance, adventure, and magic! It was so satisfying to see Maeve’s journey progress and see her grow as a character. I highly recommend this story for anyone who is a fan of fairy tale romances and magic!
Another excellent story from Camille (How does she do it every time?)
I loved Maeve and her feisty and witty, yet caring soul. Her curiosity is something I relate to very well and I loved how that was also what Alden first loved about her and that he wasn't impatient with it. Both of their arc was amazing throughout, but especially Alden's. He was a mysterious character in Forgotten and I wanted his story and I was not disappointed at all. He had his flaws and insecurities, but falling in love with Maeve challenged him and brought out his better character. He was always kind and thoughtful and he was a good man and perfect for Maeve!
Their banter was so good and not boring at all! The lake scene was hilarious for me, and I laughed out loud and even had to take a second to close my eyes and picture it😂. I could imagine Alden's confusion and suspicion at times since her voice was of a male while she was a frog and I was here for it!!! Corbin too was a sweetheart and he reminds me much of my little sister as well!
Besides all that, again, the world building was done in a magical way and I can't wait for the next story, especially with all the dark mystery surrounding King Ciaran.
Demetria is also another character that I don't hate but would love to know more about, and wouldn't hate if she has a story in the future. The reason her character is interesting to me is also because of her parents, Gladen and Astrid from The Beast and the Enchantress. Her parents are inherently good, but I can't help wonder the same about Demetria and even Dahlia. Hopefully my questions will be answered if/when they get a story!
But overall, loved this story and Camille continues with her unique stories and banter!
4.5 This was just so cute! I was excited to read Charmed, the premise seemed like it could be a good book and I ended up really enjoying it. Charmed is the second book in Camille Peter’s Enchanted Kingdom Chronicles. I had not read a retelling of the Sorcerer's Apprentice so it was cool to read especially because it was also mixed with The Frog Prince. I really enjoyed the characters in this book and I was hooked from the beginning. Mauve was so enjoyable. She was so fun and full of life and fire. I liked how she spoke her mind but she also cared for those around her. She wasn’t someone you could walk over. Alden was a sweetheart although he does get caught up in his endeavors and dreams. He really wanted to prove himself and he struggled with his own self esteem. I loved the adventure that Mauve and Alden went on together. They learned to see each other in different ways especially as they worked together. Mauve turning into a frog was not part of her plan but she was able to truly admire Adlen behind his eccentricness. And Alden began to see how good of a friend Mauve had become. The romance was sweet and I was drawn into the story. I read this book really quickly. I liked the characters. It was fun meeting new characters and seeing old ones. Charmed is a clean fairytale inspired romance. I would definitely recommend it and I am so excited for the next book!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
Maeve's banter in this book cracked. me. up. I love her attitude, but her love for her brother Corbin was what endeared her to me. I loved that she had so many strong motivations throughout this book; I felt like she was a very relatable and compelling character, especially because I am a caregiver myself, and her desire to help her brother above all else tugged at my heartstrings.
Alden made me smile in the best of ways. He was gloriously flawed and quirky and not at all the perfect prince so typical of fairytales. He wanted so badly to be seen for his accomplishments instead of what name and title he was given at birth, and I loved that about him. He felt like many of my male friends I've known in real life, which made me feel connected to him.
I felt like these two characters just completed each other. They challenged each other, supported each other, and helped each other in unexpected ways that made their romance blossom in a way that felt authentic and ADORABLE.
Also, I always love Camille Peters's inanimate objects that are sentient, and I LOVED seeing the spell book again! It very much had its own personality and thoughts and I was so happy to see it reappear!
I am always delighted by the surprises I find in books, and every time I thought I was SURE I knew how the book would turn out, I would get surprised and loved it!
So cute! I love how I always come away from Camille Peters's books feeling all the fuzzies because of how wholesome and uplifting they are. Everyone needs a bit of Charmed in their life!
This is perhaps one of the most delightful fairytales I've ever read, definitely one of my reading highlights this year. True to its title, the story is utterly charming and enchanting, infused with so much creative magic that was such a pleasure to read and really brought the story to life.
I adored our feisty heroine, Maeve, who for all her spunk is such caring person and devoted to her younger brother, Corbin (who was so precious! I just wanted to snuggle and protect him every time he appeared on the page). Her banter with the wizard and prince, Alden, was so much fun. I also adored our hero, Alden. Though he had his flaws and insecurities, he was such a good man and such a good fit for Maeve. I really enjoyed both characters' journeys of falling in love and growth, particularly Alden's, especially since his resonated with me on a personal level.
The plot was thoroughly enjoyable as well, filled with an abundance of magic, sweet romance between a mentor and his apprentice, frog shenanigans, a dash of mistaken identity, and a magical competition. I loved every moment.
This is the first retelling I've read of The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Frog Princess (which I've since learned is different than the more famous Frog Prince fairytale), and now I want to read more. This was such a creative and magical story in The Enchanted Kingdom Chronicles and I'm already eager for the next book!
A fun mash up of The Sorcerer's Apprentice and The Frog Princess.
I love stories where the main plot is a competition filled with varied trials and challenges so I was really excited for this story. The creativeness of the different stages was amazing - I also loved that it was the frog princess tale that was retold as usually it tends to be the frog prince.
Maeve was such a fun character, her creative ways of seeing the world made her the perfect balance to Alden who focuses on the books and theories of magic so when they come together, they make a brilliant team. She's also such a self-sacrificing person - helping the people she cares about in whatever way possible and always putting herself last.
Both of the main characters are very similar in the journeys they go on as they realise there's more to life than what they believe their assigned roles are - for Maeve, it's being her brother's carer and for Alden it's his magic. For Alden especially, he learns that it's ok for dreams to change as we grow and experience new things that cause our perceptions of the world to change.
It was great getting to understand more of how magic works in this universe and seeing some familiar and new faces. I'm really looking forward to King Ciaran's story, getting a glimpse of how desperate Ciaran is to cure his kingdom in this book makes me glad we don't have to wait too long for it - not to mention Hades and Persephone is one of my favourite myths.
This was a charming second installment in the Enchanted Kingdom Chronicles!
I adore fairy tale retellings and love Camille Peters imaginative worlds she’s crafts. Despite my knowledge of fairy tales, I don’t often read retellings of “The Frog Princess”. Even when I do, they’re typically odd or the reader can tell the author stretched to make relevant tie-ins to the original text. Camille Peters version is not in this category! Charmed was absolutely adorable and fun!
The heroine, Maeve, is caring, intelligent, and can hold her own in a battle of wits. So often strong female characters are written as stubborn and I find it hard to root for them just because they don’t want to “bow down” to whims of others. Maeve had her opinions but was also willing to learn. She knew her limits. And knew she needed to confess to the handsome wizard she accidentally cursed herself into a frog. There are complications, there’s a wizard competition, and there’s the pressing of time with magic dwindling and young Corbin’s life fading. I loved getting to know Prince Alden better in this book after meeting him in “Forgotten”. His chapters provide readers a new perspective on some edgy characters and I love it!
The audiobook was masterfully narrated. I loved the frog voice, which really made the misunderstanding between Maeve, Mae, and Alden stronger in the middle act.
Many of Camille Peters’ books include unique and enchanting magical elements. My favorite part of this book was that it includes a lot of magic, giving Peters the opportunity to fit in many of her creative magical ideas into this story. I loved all the different charms, curses, types of magic, magical theory…It was all fun to read about! I loved that Alden, the male protagonist, was the one to struggle with self doubt, and how much Maeve helped him with that. (Often it is the female protagonist struggling with that trait, it seems.) Further, I loved that our two protagonists seemed like a good fit for each other and helped bring out the best in each other, however it did feel a little uneven to me. It seemed like Maeve made Alden whole and helped him so much, but it didn’t feel like Alden contributed as much to Maeve. I had a bit of a hard time seeing why Maeve fell for Alden. Something about the progression of their relationship didn’t flow for me, but I still enjoyed the characters and story very much. I am really excited for the next book! It sounds fascinating. I really love this author and her books and highly recommend this one as a unique fairy tale retelling and for anyone who loves stories involving magic.
It's funny how we can go through our lives working towards what we *think* we want, only to discover that which is of true value along the way. The story of Maeve and Alden is a great illustration of that idea, starting out pursuing magic for the sake of magic, and end up transforming their dreams to create some magic of their own. Along the way they go through many doubts and challenges to come out on top; this is something very relatable to me in my own life, though there is still uncertainty of my own outcome.... the adventure likely will continue for some time yet before there is even a chance at a happy ending. But that's why books like this give me hope.
Besides the story itself, there was so much thought that went into the world they lived in. The magical theory, the charms and spells and rules behind potions... all of the practices were a refreshing addition to the story. Especially nice was how the couple started as friends and colleagues and were able to add another dimension to their relationship. They found a way out of the "friend zone" and hopefully I will, too, someday. A great read, and I am already looking forward to the next chapter in the saga!
10/10 Enchanting book! I loved the combination of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice with a frog curse. Even more fun is such a curse was often threatened by Prince Alden’s mom in the Beast and the Enchantress! After Forgotten, I was excited to learn more about Prince Alden. His character arc in this book is one of growth and self-discovery. I did not expect him to struggle with insecurities, but it was interesting to watch him work through them. Maeve was also an interesting character. I wasn’t overly fond of her at the beginning, but she grew on me. The plot was excellent. Good pacing. I did not expect that ending. I also don’t know that I agree with the choices made by the main characters at the end, but they’re better than the choice in Forgotten. The power dynamic aspect to the romance might be a bit questionable, but the author handled it well enough that it didn’t feel toxic. In the end, I would comfortably and totally recommend this book. It was a lot of fun to read!
*I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.*
Maeve and Alden had a different story from what I am used to from Camille, but it worked for the story. The characters were a lot more focused on the plot of the book than each other, which is unlike most of Camille's books. However, I don't think it was necessarily a bad thing. It worked really well for the characters and I think that them falling in love happened at exactly the right time.
One of my favorite parts of the novel was Maeve's love for her brother, Corbin. He was very sickly, but a very sweet boy who Maeve loved very much. Their relationship really enriched the story to me.
But if I must be honest, my absolute favorite part of the novel was getting to see characters from the previous book, as well as characters for the next. It was so interesting to see what was happening then, what had happened, and what was coming next. It was a very interesting story-telling. It worked well.
I definitely recommend reading this book and I can't wait for what else Camille has in store.
The Princess and the Frog story has always been one of my favorites, and I ADORED this one!! I absolutely love the growth that both the hero and heroine in the story experience! They go through such a deep, self-reflective journey. I really enjoyed Alden’s in particular. He learns so much and really grows as a person. I loved Mae’s background and family life. It adds such sweetness to the story!
The creativity with the magic in the story just blew me away!! I had so much fun discovering magic alongside Mae, and the tournament was so clever and delightful to read about!! (It made my Harry Potter loving heart happy!)
Also, P.S. Corbin is the most adorable, sweet, character! <3 He is just my favorite!!
Maeve and Alden are a fun pairing! Alden is motivated to prove his worth as a mage and taking on an apprentice increases his accomplishments. However, he is unprepared for the new challenges that he will face as he pursues his goal. His decision to take on an apprentice is fortuitous because Maeve is the perfect compliment and challenge to him.
Maeve, of course, has her own goals, namely providing for her family and finding a cure for her brother. Her journey leads her to discover new ways to help others with magic and stretches her to realize who she can be beyond just her family.
I like the theme for both characters of realizing their original dreams can change and not feeling guilty about it when they are called down a new path.
Camille Peters’ most recent novel is such a good story. I wanted to read it again just after I finished it. It’s a tale closely related to The Frog Prince and The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. The romance is slow but so sweet-going from acquaintance to almost enemies, to friends, and then to first loves. Each is willing to give something up to love the other-what a good lesson of a true relationship. And I love how Maeve is such a loving caretaker to her brother who is sickly. Reminds me what many of us as parents and caregivers of our parents do and sacrifice. Brought tears to my eyes many times.
Such an embodiment of friendship and understanding this novel weaves an (almost) enemies to lovers web. "Perhaps the greatest magic is what is found on the journey to achieving our dreams, where we come to realize that what we thought we wanted and what we truly desire are different than we initially imagined." Just a beautiful sentiment that comes from this insightful novel. How two people can work together with strengths and weaknesses that compliment each other to make a better unified force.
Thank you to Ms. Peters for an advance reader copy in exchange for a fair review. These opinions are my own.
I loved the mashup of the frog prince and sorcerers apprentice! Maeve is such a strong and kind person and it feels like she was exactly what Alden needed in his life to be his best self! It was cool to see how he opened up her world since she had been so closed off while helping her family. Maeve and her brothers love of magic meant there was no chance she could jump at the chance to learn magic.
It’s a great journey of self discovery and I was totally jumping to conclusions through it and I was totally surprised by the competitions’ conclusion! A perfect happy ending!
I really enjoyed this book! It was very magical and fun. I loved the magical element, it added another layer to the story. I also loved the cast of characters. I liked Corbin and Kai (hoping one of them gets a story). I loved Maeve and I liked Alden. I loved Alden, a little quirky and awkward but such a sweetheart. Their romance developed at a good pace. I also loved the frog parts of the book. They were hilarious and also very sweet. Overall, I quite enjoyed this fun novel. (I am looking forward to King Ciaran's story!)
I truly enjoyed the magic of this beautiful story. The slow burn friend romance was so sweet and I just loved all the details from the magicians apprentice and the frog prince. The tasks were so fun and the magic so beautiful. I was surprised by so many things and kept getting more excited to see what would transpire!
Such a wonderful read and so excited for the next installment.
I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Such a cute and sweet book. It really comes full circle with the way she wrote it. There’s so many hidden messages and cute things worked into the book. Highly recommended for all ages.
There’s just a few little references to people you may have heard or seen in the first book. Definitely can read this book as a stand alone though.
Very fun twist on the traditional princess and the frog retelling.
Oh how I loved this book! This is one of the best books that Camille Peters has written! It was so fun and different. I loved the elements of magic! The Sorcerer's Apprentice is not a retelling that is done very often. It should definitely be done more! I loved Maeve. She is such a strong, kind character! The story was great and the world building was excellent! I highly recommend this book
What a fun story! Camille combines The Sorcerer’s Apprentice with The Frog Princess and magic happens! The characters come to life as she takes flawed people and sends them on a journey of discovery and love. They grow so much and learn who they are while discovering how to help each other and make the world better! The details are so realistic which makes it feel like you’ve known them forever.
Camille Peters has done it again. This is now her second series that I have read and I absolutely love it. I'm all about the slow burn romance and this book was not a disappointment. Maeve is such a fun character. This was the perfect twist on The sorcerer's apprentice and the frog princess. I would absolutely recommend reading it.
What an amazing Princess and the Frog retelling. It was magical yet still realistic. I really liked the relationship between Alden and Maeve as it developed from annoyance to friendship to more. My favorite part was when Alden accidentally broke Maeve's curse. His surprise was exactly what I was reading for.
This book was so amazing! This characters and world building was so good! I absolutely loved the romance. I was smiling the whole time. The writing was beautifully done and I enjoyed this book so much! I would highly recommend this book.
