David Archer was born and raised in Bakersfield, California. He is a fiction author and novelist, writing in the mysteries and thrillers genre. His approach to writing is to hit deep, keep you entertained, and leave you wanting MORE with every turn of the page. He writes mysteries, thrillers, and suspense novels, all of which are primed to get your heart pumping.
This is not the Peter Black I know and love. He seems to have lost some of his sparkle. He’s no longer the cold calculating Spectre that everyone fears and respects. He’s a shadow of his former self, he’s got a proper job, a salary and a girlfriend. I want Azrael back, the silent, unseen and unstoppable assassin.

Probably the Best or 2nd Best Post Mother & Magda Peter Black Story to Date
Ever since Peter's meet up with Michael's mother when Peter and she were both 17, this story fares well with that fateful meet up. Ok, I take it all back - they've all been great stories. I have been thinking of when Peter has to turn himself in when Michael is adopted by parents across the street from him and they subsequently going on the run with Michael wanting to learn of all the trade element of what made Peter Black, Azrael. They are all great stories to read. Read them all - only the next one has grammatical errors that make it appear rushed.
Archer & Vogel wrote a story that brings Peter Black to vivid life! While he survives egregious physical wounds, he somehow rises above it all to come out on top. The plot is incredibly complex with surprises around every corner that otherwise could have made the tale totally unbelievable. But not so.
This was the first Peter Black yarn that I’ve read. Intend to start at the beginning with book one!
Yet again Peter Black has to take on an enemy who is hell bent on killing him and unknown to Peter is closer than he thinks and ultimately is someone who he trusts. With the help of an investigative journalist and his friends in the C.I.A Peter finally finds out who the enemy is but cannot stop the destruction of the C.I.A headquarters at Langley and ultimately the deaths of many of the people who worked there.
I don't know where David Archer and Vince Vogel keep coming up with these plots, but the intrigue and action never disappoint! I will say that the grammar and spelling got a little sloppy during the last couple of chapters. I reported some of the errors and overlooked others.
I'm looking forward to the next novel. I love reading about the exploits of Peter Black!
As this story continues to unfold, the resilience and strength of those who guard this country on all levels is highlighted. Through the knowledge and talent of these authors we come to know, empathize, and care for Peter Black and his " family"... It is a testament to both Vogel and Archer that these fictional characters have become " people" that live and breathe to the readers....
The story explodes out of the gate from the first page and doesn’t stop until the end. A convoluted tale that rocks Peter Blacks world. Black is set on a path from someone long ago seeking revenge. As he follows the trail he rises to the occasion to save those he loves and his country. Couldn’t put it down
Lots of thinking is required to keep up with the various twists and turns. I am going back in the series to book 2 and I’ll read the whole series. Great depth to the characters and a full well developed story. Hopefully the earlier books lay the foundation and are good reads too!
Peter finds himself fighting an unknown enemy, losing fellow agents along the way. Unbeknownst to him, his old leader has left a hidden threat waiting to get revenge. He is forced into doing a killing that turns him into a wanted agent when he tries to save his son. ENJOY!
The “Peter Black” series was exactly what I was looking for. Quality reading, characters I learned to love (not the bad guys of course :)), and the unexpected and gripping suspense that outstanding action packed books provide. I want more of the same, that’s for sure!
I guess the authors needed to get the word count up. So many unnecessary repetitive adjectives!!!!!! The story was interesting. But it was hard to plow through all the unnecessary adjectives to enjoy the story. Please stop doing that. I have enjoyed the earlier Peter Black stories.
Everything Peter was taught, and learned on his own, comes to a head in this book. Some people he know and respects are gone while others betray everything Peter believes in. Only at the end do we know who's on which side.
This was absolutely the best of the series. All have been excellent and loved every one. I was definitely drawn in with book one and keep preordering each new one. Great writing and very exciting stories. I'm hoping for more Peter and Kara.
Plot could have worked ok but it was written atrociously. Flowery when should be succinct; multiple syllable words when single would have made point. > 50% of book should have been cut.
Expertly written! All the drama and excitement you need without all the flowery descriptors. Right to the point! Love that. Don’t waste my time describing the surroundings when someone is in a life or death moment! Awesome series!
I really like the Peter Black series but I am finding that there is too much rich description that does not really add a lot to the narrative and I tend to speed read through it. One could suggest that it is "padding"
These books never fail to please. Daily life prevented me from finishing earlier but I loved the rush that this exciting thriller gave me. If there is one author that hits the mark , it’s David and whoever he is collaborating with. Top marks from me. Thanks David
Another masterpiece by David Archer. Truly a page turner that weaves together the intrigue of black ops with the never ending violence in the Middle East while throwing in a touch of romance. Great book!
My reading: three stars. This book was the least favourite bookout of the series. I liked Peter and Michael being the lone wolves rather being in a group. I found the dialogue just dragged so much that I end up flipping to the last three chapters to read the ending
Lots of twists and turns in this book. Enjoy reading the series. I am holding of reading others that are downloaded in my Kindle. Looking for the next sequence in this series.
This was a fantastic episode in the Peter Black genre. Very on point and really great plot. Can't for the next chapter!!! 20 stars plus !!!!! Thanks , Carl Clause
