Losing the love of your life and giving birth to the twin boys you created out of love in the same day can’t be easy! I’m sure it’s devastating actually and unfortunately, this was the case for Suga! Now 5 years later she is still picking up those pieces of grief as a single mother. Malachi knew the life he lived could result in death so he ensured Suga wanted for nothing even after she was gone. Despite having the life they dreamed of she is still missing love. After finally putting her boys in school she had no idea that their coach would end up repairing her shattered heart in the best way possible.

This was a promising read. I know this is fiction but the pace of the story felt unrealistic towards the end especially for someone still heavily grieving the loss of her love years later. I enjoyed the patience X showed and was glad they all got the HEA they deserved. 3.5✨’s

3.5 ⭐️. I thought this was a cute single mom trope. Suga gave birth to twin boys the same day she tragically lost their father. Five years later she’s still grieving and unable to move on until she meets Xian. Xian is her sons’ PE teacher. He’s already fallen in love with her boys before they connect. Once they do their relationship goes really fast. One date and he staked his claim. There was parts of this that didn’t hit for me. I also don’t like the grieving trope as much when the mc starts to play second best. Like she moved on but still was breaking down about the ex. I get grieving is a process but damn. My favorite part is the twins. They don’t play bout eachother and will jump you lol. I would give this a try.

Single Mother

I liked the premise of the story but at some point it began to be a bit much. It was nice that Suga had support from her brother in law, but when did he have time to look after his own family? Suga had only known one man so her hesitancy to get back into the dating scene was understandable. But how did she make that giant leap to marriage after knowing X for a minute. I absolutely disagreed with the language the adults used around her five year old twins and consequently the language the twins used. That whole situation at school was wrong. To beat a child like that, bully or not, was near criminal. And it was extremely unrealistic to think that any school would handle that situation so lightly.
Suga spent money, even in her generosity, as if it was endless. Add X's spending and this was nonsensical. I can see nothing but children growing up with a sense of entitlement. I lost sight of Suga's scars with all the over the top storytelling.

Xi came through with all the BDE. He didn’t play no games and knew exactly what he wanted and went for leaving no room to question his actions. Man what the ole folks say “dem churning done been here before”. Mav and Memph had cracking up you never know what they were going to say. The twins didn’t play about their mother nor either other. They came with all the smoke and Lil Timmy’s a** found out when he got double them hands. I bet his little a** will sit down somewhere now and quick picking on other people kids. I love how Miles step up for Suga and boy’s to make sure that they were always good and not alone even when he was going through his know struggles. Man Suga was so strong throughout this story. She grieved a triple loss so close together but with Miles and his wife help she pull through and didn’t let over take her. I love how hard she went about her boys and I wish she would have laid hands on Timmy’s mother because her ratchet a** needed to be checked. Amazing read and I hope we get a spin-off with Ja and Sammi’s story.

...this book seem to have real potential but once she started dating it kind of fell flat. Everything moved soo fast with no true definition as to why. The characters wasn't truly flushed out to show a mutual connection besides saying they had one. The men sounded more feminine in their dialogue revealing a woman wrote the story a little too much ex. ("And is!") that's female lingo seriously. I also didn't like how immature Suga seemed with the kids about wanting to fight other children & the level of hood that showed up in her. I guess she seemed more mature, business oriented & focused on pursuing her dreams. The men as teachers seemed mature & focused on making a greater impact. As the story continued it seemed like everyone was very immature, at the wrong time! I decided to stop because I kept trying but it fell flat to me.

Wonderful series so far.👏👏👌👌

I love when the authors of a publishing company get together and do series like this. It gives you the opportunity to read from authors that may be new to you. This is my 1st read by miss toliver and I must say I am impressed. I will definitely read more from her. I love her Xiam and Suga. I knew it would be on and popping when she jokingly called him daddy. 😂 Their chemistry and the seggs 💦😋 was amazing . i loved ❤ that She did not fight her second chance at love. her road to love again was not long and drawn out. She was hesitate but jumped right in. I was appreciate a good insta love story. 🙌👏👏 great job miss Toliver I'll be checking you. Definitely 5 star!!!!

Happy Tears

This book was so good and heartwarming. It was sad that Suga lost Malachi the same day that she had their twins. I loved the twins bond and how they didn’t play about each other especially Mav. It was good that Miles was there for Suga and the twins and that Keegan wasn’t in her feelings about him always being there for them and they were all just one happy, supportive family. I like Ja and Sammi together and I feel like they need their own book. The only thing that was missing was what if anything happened to them that took out Malachi.

Single Mother🩷

I love thus story and was glad I gave it a chance. Sometimes I avoid the single mom books because they are so vulnerable and downtrodden. This definitely wasn’t that. The tragedy in the beginning had my whole heart broken for Suga. Malachi was prepared for his absence. Miles was such a good uncle. The good people in her life kept coming. I’m glad we were able to witness her and her boys on the other side of heartache.

Okay Suga!

First, my book nephews were a trip okay. I loved their bond at all times. Chi really did his big one knowing there was a chance he wasn’t going to be around and I love that big bro was a stand up guy. Xi was a well written MMC and his bond with the boys was genuine from the start. Suga was a boss lady fr fr and had the biggest heart. It was good to see her get the love she deserved.

Good

A good read with some drama, grief, pain, and new love. I enjoyed this well written story about second chance love. The characters are all likeable, interesting, and loveable. The scars left behind after the deaths of three loved ones ate hard to heal. But love can bring about some healing.

All the feels!

Kandis is a new-to-me author and this was such a great intro to her work! I was in love with all the characters from the very beginning. Suga definitely deserved the HEA she received. The Twins stole the show for me! They were the show! So much personality in 5 year olds. I loved them down!😂😂😂

so cute

omg i loved everything about this story from suga dealing with grief to finding love again. Xian is perfection I love how he loved suga while still allowing her the time & space she needed to grieve. Them rwins were a mess but how could you not love them & the fact that Miles encouraged suga to find love cant do nothing but respect that. Absolutely loved this

Phenomenal read 💜💜

I loved everything about this book. It did have me very emotional but I pulled through it. I just loved how Suga had the love she needed after her fiancé was killed. It’s never easy losing someone you loved so deeply. Miles is a true man looking after her and the boys when his brother was killed. Xian came into her and was a true man of his word.. 💜💜💜

Scars of A Single Mother

I like this story from the beginning to the end. Malachi wasn't only a street king but a real man. He didn't have a lot of women that he dealt with his status and chose the woman he wanted. Military was a good woman in her own sense just was broken until she was given another chance to have the happiness she desire.

Good job

This was a really beautiful story. I loved how Suga gave love a chance again. Xian loved her though all the pain. You don’t find many men like him. Miles was a great brother and friend. Ja and Sammi needs their own story.

This book was good from the beginning to end. because as being a single mother that I am, I understood her to the fullest and everything she was going through. Suga was a strong boss woman who made it through the storm and she still was blessed.

Understanding

This was a good read. I'm not sure Suga was completely over her first love. It bothered me a few times how she handled things but it doesn't take away from the story

Definitely different

First time read for this author. The storyline was good, characters relatable, but the language from the five year old twins was ALOT!
