Sorry, while I loved books 1-3. I did not care for the plot direction and pacing in books 4-5.
Never liked Jake, but I maybe could’ve gotten over that in time, but didn’t like the midnight witch and the hybrid plot line. Still don’t like Jake.
She needed more time with her family and developing relationships. After books 1 and 2 - she never tracked down another mate for her agency. Then the author destroyed her agency.
Basically we ended up with crisis to crisis enemies and nowhere was there time for good character interaction and growth. We never got to explore the rich world and character developments of creating a pack, magical society etc…instead we get a crazy person running around killing people for fun.
Midnight witch was an idiot and should’ve died in book 3
Having different plot twists doesn’t necessarily make a good story hook.
Also the twist with Stephen in the previous books was a pretty hard twist considering book 1.
Summary:
Didn’t like Jake Needed better pacing and character development Needed to explore the rich magical world Midnight witch and hybrids shouldn’t have existed and a different villain should have been there
Never using her tracking powers effectively again after book 2.
“My compass is gone. Nothing holds meaning anymore, and nothing will—not until I bring my best friend back home.” - Toni
In the previous instalment, Toni discovered that their new client Mekare Graves was in fact the Midnight Witch. Not only had she been responsible for killing Damien but she and Stephen had been in cohorts all along and had poisoned the Dark Donna with the rhabo drug while her guard was down. In the aftermath of the deadly confrontation that ensued, Rosalina went missing.
Present Day
Despite her Trackers skills, Toni has been unable to locate Rosalina. While everyone assumes the worst, Toni refuses to give up.
Meanwhile the Midnight Witch continues to wage war on the Dark Donna by mass producing hybrids and spreading chaos across St Louis. When Toni thwarts one her plans, she unwittingly becomes the new target of Mekare’s retribution, threatening not only her livelihood but everyone that Toni holds dear..
The Tracker’s Dawn is the fifth and final exhilarating instalment of what has been a thoroughly entertaining series. Fast paced, exciting and jam packed with a tumultuous range of emotions, each instalment has been escapism at its finest.
Ms Seymour is one of my go to authors for her wonderful knack in creating personalities that inspire and entertain. Once again she did not disappoint. The character development throughout has been phenomenal, each showing real depth, substance and camaraderie.
This has been a truly memorable series with a plot that has held me hostage from the offset. I initially thought that the author faced a huge challenge in tying up all the loose ends in one instalment. I needn’t have worried. The plot was clever and well-structured, building to a climax that was neat and satisfying.
While it’s always sad to say goodbye to characters that one has become invested in, the author has hinted at two possible spin-offs that suggest we may not have heard the last of Toni and her team. I truly hope so.
Highly recommended for fans of urban fantasy, slow burn romance, witches, mages, werewolves, vampires, Fae etc
Tracker's Dawn is the fifth and final book in the Mate Tracker series. This is it, Mekare, the midnight witch, who has been a thorn in everyone's side is stepping up her game in this one. The body count is climbing, the city is in utter chaos, and there is one final last-ditch effort to save Jake from the pact he made. Things are looking quite bad but Toni isn't the type to give up, not anymore, and she is more determined than ever to keep the ones she loves safe.
Toni has been through a lot in the past few months or has it been weeks? Either way in a short amount of time Toni's entire life has changed but she is taking everything in stride. She's staying strong, fighting not only to protect the people she loves but to protect the city she loves. Toni is an alpha through and through, her werewolf powers have gotten better and her tracker powers have grown exponentially, opening up brand new doors for her. I love how Toni's relationships are at the forefront in the story, her mother and siblings, her unbreakable bond with her best friend Rosalina, the new friendship with Eric and Damien that is growing into a powerful bond. Toni can face all the things thrown at her because of the people she's surrounded by.
While Jake may have made some huge mistakes, he is now one of the people Toni can count on. Toni's and Jake's relationship has evolved, they are mates and their love for one another is stronger than ever. Jake has grown a lot, he is starting to take care of Toni by supporting her, being there for her emotionally, and holding out enough hope for the both of them that by the end of all of this they can still be together. I will admit I didn't like Jake at the beginning of this series but I really like him now plus there is this one scene with them in Elfham that made my heart so happy. Jake and Toni make a great team and after all the ups and downs they deserve to be happy with each other.
Mekare was the plot twist I didn't see coming. The midnight witch caused all kinds of havoc, I mean I cannot believe the damage that she's done. I will admit she is smart and crafty, only someone like that can get away with accomplishing all the evil that she has done. The amount of people she killed alone is stunning. not to mention all the underhanded play, just wow. The best part is that it's finally revealed why and I didn't see it coming, it makes sense in a "crazy person" sorta way why she did what she did but really chick was intense. The magic, the family drama, the werewolves hierarchy, grumpy alphas, snooty mages, and killer action scenes made for a very entertaining read.
Tracker's Dawn is the fantastic conclusion to Toni's adventure, it was filled with action, romance, magic, danger, had a few plot twists, and was overall a fantastic read. Toni and Jake got their happy ending but things are far from over, Toni's little sister Lucia is heading off to college and starting an adventure of her own in a new series with her as the leading character. I can't wait to jump into Lucia's shoes and I hoping that a few of my favorite people make an appearance or at least a mention.
I just finished binging this series and here’s a short couple of explanations for why, despite being good, I didn’t give it 5-stars. If you’re going to code a book as a romance, it should have romance. I barely felt it at all this entire series. It was more of a paranormal mystery. It was decent, and I liked it, but that was a huge negative because I was distracted waiting for a romance that would never really come. Secondly, considering this is the “Mate Tracker” series, there’s very little mate tracking actually happening. Not to mention actual tracking seems to take a backseat around book 3. Those are my biggest upsets, in all honesty. Not a bad read though.
It was a decent end. Book 4 was the weakest, IMHO, and book 5 brought it back. We also get to know Toni's little sister, Lucia, better which I enjoyed. Rosalina is still my favorite character, closely followed by Eric. Still a little weirded out what she's dating someone Toni's mom dated, but I can get over it since it's a fictional book universe. Makes it seem like Damien was meant to be in Toni's life one way or another. Which is sweet.
Things I would have loved to know: 1. Did their tracker agency ever take off? 2. Did Toni have to join Jake's pack? 3. Did Toni ever build a true relationship with her bio dad
Things I wanted more of: 1. Red and her personality 2. Eric Cross 3. Toni 's mate tracking cases 4. Rosalina's POV 5. Toni's late Dad history 5. Toni's brother story
I listen to the series via audiobook and Loved the narrator for the 1st four books, the 5th book narrator made everyone sound like an old person. Think evil grandma baking cookies. Except the cookies are poison. Definitely did not match the characters whatsoever. That being said, I'm still thankful that author did choose to finish the narration. I would have hated to be left hanging, because goodness knows my toddler wouldn't dare let me read, so audiobooks it is ♥️
This series has been awesome from the very start. Each book has been addictive, entertaining and so exciting that I have not been able to put them down and this last book is every bit as awesome as the rest of them. The world building is incredible and the characters, well I have watched them grow and develop as have their relationships. This ending is just epic and so suitable for this series, it’s full of action, magic, mayhem, twists and turns and some surprises and our questions are finally answered ! It’s been an incredible journey and one that I am glad I went on!
OMG, this story keeps you wanting to finish it in one sitting. We start with them searching for Rosalyn and trying to get her back from the Midnight Witch. Then Midnight Witch is causing chaos all over the city. Jake is still set to marry someone else. Tom is keeping Rosalyn's secret about the hybrids and what really happens. So follow the journey to the end for Toni, Jake, Rosalyn, Eric, and Damien. You will not be disappointed. I received a free copy for my honest review.
I received an advance copy from the author. This is my honest review.
Well, this last book certainly starts off with a bang! After the way the last book ended, I was certainly eagerly anticipating getting my hands on this one and finding out just. What. Happens. And there’s no waiting, no beating around the bush, we get thrown right into the thick of it from the very beginning. And I loved it!
Being the last book in this series, everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was going to have to be wrapped up, a monumental task for our author as there was still so much left unresolved by the end of book 4. And for the most part, it all gets addressed. As a reader, my curiosity about all the big events in this series were answered. Some I felt were wrapped up a little too quickly, but that’s understandable considering just how much was being juggled going into this final book.
This is not the first of Ingrid Seymour’s series that I have read in its entirety, and just like her Supernatural Academy series, it leaves the reader satisfied with how things play out. And its not boring! We start off with some action, which is followed by planning, and then the last part of the book is just action, action, action, one thing after another. And even during the planning stages, its still got that underlying tension simmering slowly beneath the surface. I could practically feel it bubbling. This was a thoroughly enjoyable series as a whole and I’m excited to see what Ingrid Seymour comes up with next!
Explosive ending to Toni's journey, with a small bridge to the next series. With Rosalina held captive, Toni's world has zoomed in on single task - save her friend and defeat the Midnight Witch who kidnapped her, while also trying to make Toni's life a living hell. Forming a strong bond with Eric, Damien, and resolved to keep Jake by her side, Toni slips from one dangerous situation to another, escaping death and revealing shocking secrets. Yet after everything she went through, she can still lose it all, starting from her mate. Despite the fact the plot of this series diverged from the original path significantly and I was sad there was no more tracking agency, very little tracking in general, and a different villain that suggested in the first 2-3 books, the final book of the series was satisfying. It was packed with action, leading to epic climax, with a storyline that twisted sometimes in very surprising direction. I really liked Toni and her small pack of misfits, and appreciated how the burning question with her real father was resolved, even though I'd love to see more relationship(s) development in the book. The characters were already well formed, almost everyone's position was completely clear, and all plotlines converged to the conclusion. All in all, I really enjoyed the series, and believe Lucia will be no less interesting FMC than her sister.
I have loved this series! This well written book wraps up all of the loose ends and brings us the romantic HEA (happily ever after) that we wanted. BUT… I love that more could be added to the story later on. We assume they get married, but what was the wedding like? Did any drama happen? Do her abilities continue to increase, and if so, how? I want to know more about the relationship with her biological father and half-brother. If her father dies, does that pack automatically go to her half-brother, or her, or do they run the pack together? Does her marriage to Jake bring those two packs together? And if she’s married, does she run the pack with Jake? Since she is also an alpha, can two alphas run a pack together? Has that ever been done? I’d love to see more interaction with the prince. Does Jake keep his PI business open? And once the mate tracking agency is open again, do they join forces occasionally to find people? There’s so many new questions, and maybe a new series could be written to continue this story. We never want to say goodbye to the characters we love!
This final book is explosive! There is so much happening all at once! Mekare has unleashed hybrids all over the city. Jake's arranged marriage has been moved up. Time is running out and fast for everyone! Jake has finally won me over! I didn't really like him in the first two books but he has redeemed himself.
Everything leads up to one epic conclusion. Action, adventure, intrigue, sadness, despair, heartbreaking moments and the love of all the people around you. This book has it all!
This is a fantastic series and I hate to see it end! Seriously why do all good things have to end? So not fair! Maybe we can get a novella in the future to see how our favorite characters are. I really want to know how things go between Toni and her bio dad Travis!
It wasn't terrible. However, there were so many things I didn't care for. A lot of time is spent on what I call filled words. If some of those were removed and more time spent on character building I'd have enjoyed it more. Also, I was not a fan of Jake and the romance. One person commented in the first book; his reason for leaving was ridiculous and what melt them apart also absurd.
I liked some of the basics of the world. I also liked the authors take on sides. I did not like that we never really get the full picture of Toni's gifts but that after5 books I still have only a mediocre sport for her. She is not my favourite heroine.
It was a free read with unlimited. I certainly would have been very disappointed if I'd have spent additional money on the book.
I wasn’t ready for this series to finish but it finished oh so beautifully!! I’ve literally grown with these characters and laughed with them and cried with them and I’m so sad to see them go. But I cannot say it enough!! This was a spectacular way to finish it. I will NOT be giving away anything because each little surprise was like finding another present with your name on it! I can say that this author has become an automatic read for me. And I seriously hope with Lucia’s series I’ll get to see some glimpses of my favorites in the future!!
Finally! We discover more about the midnight witch. Have our final battle. Toni bags her man. She talks to her dad though I wish there was more there. We don't know what happened to the Craig pack so maybe trouble will appear in another book. I have a feeling Seymour will dabble with Toni's siblings, especially Lucia. Lets not forget her brother shows up on basically the last page so there has to be more there, right? I enjoyed this storyline. I really really want prince kykll's story. He is fierce and I would love more of him.
The big finale has come as Tori and the rest try their best to beat Mekare and the hybrids. There were some surprises and upsets but they win at the end but not without cost. A good story with some sad parts, rage parts and quite a few funny scenes in between fighting and overall worry. Entertained while I had my fingers crossed to see how it would end and how Mekare would be defeated. And if Tori and Jake would get their happy ending. Just a fun and entertaining ending.
I loved this series from the very first book and this is a bittersweet moment for me because I really wanted to read the end but I also don't want it to go. It's an amazing story, I absolutely hated Jake at first but in the end I realised why Toni loved him. I don't need to go into the details of the books but all I can say is, READ THIS!!! I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Unless you have no sense of imagination or adventure that is. 😂
This ending is epic! I thought they would never kill Mekare. It took forever for Rosalinda to hook up with Damien. Now that I finished this series I see why Lucia decided to accept the scholarship. Her skills are legendary. However, they don't hold a candle to Toni's. She saved so many people. And holy hell the night she spent with Jake before they broke the pact was so steamy. That boy knows romance. Although he's mine! 😆
I’m conflicted. Five books in and I’m both delighted that the Mate Tracker series has reached a pretty darn perfect conclusion, and totally bummed that, no matter how truly excellent The Tracker’s Dawn: Sunderverse is, there will be no more books in this particular set. I guess that’s overall a good thing, review wise, as telling folks a series and it’s concluding chapter is kinda good news, but I’m still bummed even though I do highly recommend this book and series.
To an otherwise great series . Toni and Jake. Rosalina and Damien. Great character pairings. This whole story was ambitious. So many loose ends and storylines that took up pages but led nowhere. The resolution was rushed. Very rushed. But the lead up to it was incredibly drawn out. The final chapter was such a let down. It made no sense. Doesn’t set much up for the next series and it feels like Toni’s story isn’t quite done.
So sad to see this series come to an end but excited for new things to come! Toni and the crew fight a no holds barred battle in this final installment of the series…trying to defeat the Midnight Witch and break Jake’s pact so he and Toni can finally be together. It was a perfect ending with an unexpected surprise 😊
I can't believe it's over, but man was it worth it. This series was especially phenomenal! It had everything I needed and more. Romance, besties, action, suspense, drama. It was just the best. So well executed, I was on my seat through the very last page. With an HEA that's perfect, this series is great for YA and NA paranormal and urban readers alike!
This book gripped me from start to finish! There were some twists that I didn’t see coming at the end, and I loved watching Toni come into her power and find her pack. The only thing I wish we could have seen at the end was how her tracking skills changed and seeing her agency come back together!
Finally Toni gets answers, her real father, and her mate. That midnight witch twist was completely unexpected. I'm going to get in my reread next weekend. Just now I just speed read it so I would know what happened. While it's the last book in the series there's a spin off with Lucia heading off to do demon hunting.
I enjoyed every single moment of Toni’s adventure with her friends. And her protagonists Stephen, Walter and Mekare's antics and machinations kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for more. Hopefully we will see more of Rosalina, Damien, Eric and Jake in the future.
I really enjoyed this series and the book. It's cool how Mekare was finally taken out. It wasn't how i expected but really awesome. I also enjoyed how the hybrids came to their end. I thought that was perfect. My only problem is I feel like Toni and Jake were left in limbo. I think they need another book.
i completely devoured and binge read this series in 2 days? nights? i didn’t sleep 😅😅😅 MY HEART IS SOOO HAPPY. This squad of friends/misfits made an awesome pack and i couldn’t be any more happy how everything turn out. Loyalty, integrity and above all LOVE was everything.
“Love kind of has that effect on people. It makes everything so much better.” ❤️❤️❤️
This was a good wrap up to the series and how about that twist of who the midnight witch really was 👌 Toni and Jake finally got their HEA and everything even worked out between Toni & her bio dad. Enjoyed this series from beginning to end. Definitely recommend reading 📚
This series was amazing. I finished it in two days that’s how enthralled I was. I have been reading a lot of series that have hot and heavy scenes constantly and this slow burn was such a nice change of pace from that. The story line was phenomenal. I was definitely here for all the challenges Toni had to face and I wish I knew more about what happens between Damien and Rosalina.
This one didn’t quite live up to my expectations. It was good, but certain things were a little of a let down. We jumped passed some events—events I’d been waiting to see through the whole series—with just a summary after the fact. It was wrapped up nicely but it was more tell than show and that bugged me after I’d waited through 5 books
