Kōsuke Fujishima (藤島康介, born July 7, 1964) is a Japanese manga artist.
Born in Chiba, Japan, he first came to public attention as an editor of Puff magazine, his first job after completing high school. Fujishima originally intended to be a draftsman, but took the editorial role after failing to get a drafting apprenticeship. He later became assistant to manga artist Tatsuya Egawa in the production of the Making Be Free! manga, and in 1986 began his first original manga series You're Under Arrest. His second manga series Oh My Goddess!, also translated as Ah! My Goddess, is extremely popular and has made Fujishima a household name in Japan. In addition, he is also well known as the character designer for several games in the Tales RPG video game series and Sakura Wars.
He is known for his love of automobiles and motorcycles, and several of his series and their characters reflect this, such as in éX-Driver and Oh My Goddess!.
This one is actually a bit thin, but it introduces an anthropomorphized character: the Gate between heaven and earth. The gate comes seeking information, but for me, as delightful as the characters are, it just seemed like an excuse for lots of innuendos and a bit of fanservice. Still, I truly adore this series.
A new character is introduced: The Gate. A physical manifestation of the gate of Heaven. She knows just how to push Belldandy's buttons and she gets pushed to the limit. It's entertaining to see even someone like Belldandy has a limit.
Love You to Death: Urd has done something to Keiichi, and when he says the word 'love' the women all faint. Literally.
Return to Base: Peorth has gotten orders to return to Heaven. Getting there, though, proves to be a problem. The three goddesses work together to get Peorth back through the gate.
The Forbidden Gate?!: It turns out the gate is a living being who happens to be in a bad mood. The gate loves to collect information, but she also wants some experience. She wants to be kissed and she grabs Peorth and kisses her. She kisses each one and they pass out.
Gotcha? Gotcha!: The gate chases Keiichi, wanting to kiss him, but Peorth, Urd and Skuld manage to put something together to capture her.
A Goddess's Duty: Keiichi blocks them. The gate falls for Keiichi and says she's willing to open the gate; all he has to do is insert a huge key into her.
I Open Just For You: The gate returns to its normal form but Peorth still can't get through. It's going to be necessary to shoot her out of a cannon like a circus performer.
I like the new character 'Gate' but it seems like there is a new one every volume. There aren't many stories about the goddess sisters and Keichi anymore. I agree with a fellow reviewer that, after 31 volumes and close to 1.5 yrs story time, the main love story is just left hanging. I can't believe that an adult male would live with a girl he loves without trying something.
The art is still phenomenal, and I love the girls' clothes as always. Unfortunately the story is dragging its feet and can't seem to get Keichi and Belldandy together. I'll finish the volumes available in the States, but at this point I'm not optimistic about story or character development.
