For most of her life, Taylor O’Shea preferred being a loner. After her mother was incarcerated when Taylor was seven, she grew up hard—thanks in part to her construction-worker grandfather who made her tough as nails. Finally, in Chammont Point, Taylor, for the first time, finds friends who love her for her rough edges, not in spite of them.
With her best friends in tow, she heads to Arizona to face the woman whose bad choices shaped the very woman Taylor has become. But the family reunion brings disappointment and even more surprises, leaving Taylor with more questions than answers.
Now that Taylor’s discovered she has a half-brother, Lonnie, she sets out to find him. Helping him rebuild a life worth living becomes a mission that may save not just Lonnie but Taylor herself. Sometimes, however, helping family can push you to the breaking point.
As a teen, Marci Bolden skipped over young adult books and jumped right into reading women's fiction and romance novels.
Marci lives in the Midwest with her husband and numerous rescue pets. If she had an ounce of willpower, Marci would embrace healthy living but until cupcakes and wine are no longer available at the local grocery store, she’ll put that ambition on hold and appease her guilt by reading self-help books and promising to join a gym “soon.”
The Breaking Point is the third book in the Chammont Point series and I have been looking forward to Taylor's story after already having read the first two books in this series. While this is part of a series, you can read it without having read the first two books, but I do think it helps to have read the others given the other characters do make appearances in this book.
Taylor O'Shea has always been one to rely on herself and it's been that way since she was young. Much of that has been a product of circumstances and the fact that her mother's choices when she was a child led to her being raised by her grandfather and she had no relationship with her mother. Now years later, she wants closure and also wants to see if there's a possibility of having the relationship with her mother that she didn't have before. What she gets from the interaction with her mother is not at all what she expects. She ends up with more questions than answers and learns that she has a half-brother she never knew about. Will she be able to find her half-sibling and will that be everything she expects? Or will there be more heartache in her future?
I enjoyed how this entire story unfolded. I appreciated the friendship between Taylor, Darby and Jade and how they were chosen family for one another. The support they provided for one another without question was fantastic. When I started this book, I have to say I anticipated that there would be more of a romance angle to it, but I in no way missed that and I actually feel like it was more poignant without it. I know there was a bit of a tease, but I enjoyed that the focus was on what Taylor was dealing with, as that to me was enough. This was a really well written, enjoyable addition to this series and one I would absolutely recommend.
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of the publisher and the author in exchange for an honest review**
Marci knows how to write books that bring out all the emotions.
Taylor’s struggling with things from her past and wanting to make amends so she can move on. She is faced with challenge after challenge but combines to move on. She is surrounded by an amazing group of friends that support, encourage and listen to her.
There are many times I was so frustrated for Taylor and wanted to give her a hug! Marcie writes her characters so beautifully and gives us stories that are not always filled with sunshine. She writes characters that are strong, determined overcome past trauma and to make a better life for themselves.
I was so glad to finally get this book. The thing I like about Marci bolden is that her book series' can stand alone or be read together. It was great to see the development of this character and her relationship to her friends. This is the second series and I look forward to reading more of marci's work
Why is “The Breaking Point” the exact same as “The Restarting Point” which I’m reading on Google Books? How do I return it? When will the final be finished?
