From Survivor to Striver: How gratitude can transform you into a superhero!

Rate this book
Life isn’t like a superhero movie. There isn’t a script, and while you don’t plan for bad things to happen, they happen anyway. Sometimes, they keep on happening without a break in the action, and if you look up in the sky, you may see a bird or a plane, but that’s it. In these times of despair, it’s easy to let negative thoughts invade your mind and darken your mindset, enticing you to take actions that might hurt yourself or others.

But it doesn’t need to be that way.

Within the pages of this memoir/gratitude journal, you can learn how to see a light in the darkness and flip a negative mindset into a positive one. You can deepen your relationships with family and friends and widen your social circles. You can offer hope and inspiration to others who might be struggling themselves. Best of all, you don’t need to come from a different planet, wear a high-tech suit, or get bitten by a radioactive bug.

Imagine how powerful you would feel if you could overcome virtually any situation with the power of your mindset and make the world a better place for others at the same time. You would be the hero your community deserves and needs.

The tights and cape are optional.

From Survivor to Striver is an inspiring and down-to-earth story about surviving life’s toughest challenges with courage and resilience. Chris keeps it real, sharing his journey in a way that is raw, honest, and full of hope, showing how a mindset of gratitude can turn pain into purpose.

My favorite quote from the book is a mission Chris gives to the reader: "I challenge you to perform one small task for someone else each day. It could be picking up a piece of trash off the ground, holding the door for someone, letting someone know that you like their shirt... You will be surprised when you discover how easy it is to make someone's day better when you think about how to make them smile."

Part survivor story, part gratitude journal, entirely worth a read. From Survivor to Striver offers inspiration to those who are looking to shift their mindset to be more gratitude-focused. Chris offers his own story, with plenty of geeky references, humor, and humility. The second half of the book offers plenty of exercises for those looking to implement some TAG in their own lives. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to try reaching their own goals while simultaneously enriching their lives with the power of gratitude.

TAG: From Survivor to Striver by Chris DT Gordon is an inspirational message regarding the importance of being thankful. Delivered in a quirky and relatable way, TAG inspires people with the strength to overcome and live a life of gratefulness.

Gordon chronicles his near-fatal experience with necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating bacteria). Rather than wallowing in self-pity, he chose to focus on the positives in his life. His highly charged optimism turns his situation into a learning and growing opportunity that he shares with everyone. Two highlights of this book are Gordon’s attempt to qualify for the Boston Marathon and his encounter with his hero, Weird Al Yankovic.

This book is a funny, inspiring story for anyone who embraces running or their inner geekiness.
