After making a careless mistake with my best friend's boyfriend, my life starts unraveling before me. I've always been the unpredictable one of our group, and in a moment of weakness, I sought comfort in the wrong person. You live and you learn, right?
Well, not exactly.
Destiny had other plans, and a car crash propelled me into the enigmatic embrace of Chaos, the underworld's savage leader. There’s something strangely enticing about a familiarity that tempts me although it shouldn’t, a shroud of mystery hiding a secret that I’m eager to learn.
Chaos presents me with a chance at twelve days. Twelve days to mend the mistakes, to understand the true meaning of love, and to feel the magic of Christmas once more.
Will the villain get the girl in this comedic PNR demon shifter romance?
This is a steamy paranormal novella where love, redemption, and holiday spirit merge in surprising ways. Dive into the story that early readers are calling “different and unpredictable” and “an absolute page turner.”
Honestly, I really only finished this because it was short. I thought about DNF'ing several times, but I powered through to see if it could change my opinion.
Dallas is unlikable. This opens with her cheating with her best friend's boyfriend and not caring at all because "he's no good for her anyway, so I'm doing her a favour." Then, when their other mutual friend confronts her about it, she flips him off and still has no remorse. She continues to cheat with him throughout the book despite knowing full well that she shouldn't. She's a horrible friend, even acknowledging that herself, and I just had no desire to see anything good happen to her.
This book also has a huge ick of mine in it that was hard for me to get passed. I'm not a fan at all of pet names being used right off the bat with someone. The first time Dallas meets her demon, he's immediately calling her 'my love' and 'kitten.' While it may make some sense down the line with what's revealed (very predictably), I cringed extremely hard, and I had a hard time continuing. The interactions with a lot of the characters felt really awkward and clunky, too.
This one just didn't do it for me. I love a good redemption arc, but this was a collection of stereotypical romance tropes with characters that I just couldn't care about. The concept was there, but the execution just didn't do it for me.

this was Happy Deaths day mixed with a Christmas Carol in the worst way possible
the main character is SO unlikeable, selfish and just straight up annoying, even after a whole book of “character development” her improvement is so minimal it was pretty much nonexistent and to top it all off the romance was kinda cringy and so weirdly paced that by the time the plot twist hit it didn’t really have any impact since they had no chemistry either way?
Following a bad decision and lack of support from her best friend, Dallas intends to walk away. She doesn’t intend to walk directly in front of a moving truck, however, and is shocked to find herself somewhere that definitely isn’t heaven. The handsome but cunning leader of the underworld offers her a chance to avoid her fate: She must go a single day without making the same type of mistakes that landed her in this situation. She has 12 chances, starting now. Can Dallas truly change for the better, or is she doomed to fail?
This novella is both a hornier take on the Christmas Carol-esque concept of paranormal-induced self improvement and a short steamy read in its own right. I think that the main character was written pretty well, particularly as “unlikable” characters go. Her growth throughout the book was decent, and I liked that there was a focus on her being a bad friend and the steps she takes to remedy that. The increasingly bizarre ways that she manages to “die” each time she fails were also a fun, dark bit of humor that I thought worked very well with the story.
There is a major plot line involving infidelity, which I think is important to know before going in. I think this is the kind of story that you’re not really supposed to take too seriously, but it was entertaining and fast-paced. The ending was both a little predictable and a little confusing, and there were a few aspects of Dallas that I think could have been explored more to flesh out her character, or at least give us more background to explain how she got into this situation in the first place. But you know what? I enjoyed this quite a lot. If you’re looking for a spicy read with an equally spicy main character, this may be for you.
3.5/5 A little predictable, but innovative and sharp.
Oh boy, where do I start? "Twelve Dates Later" is the literary equivalent of spilling tea (literally and figuratively) on your best friend's boyfriend and then getting sucked into a demon-filled dating show as a redemption arc. If that sounds bizarrely intriguing, that's because it absolutely is.
First, let's talk characters. Remember those impulsive decisions you made when you were younger? Yeah, the protagonist makes them look like child's play. I mean, accidentally getting involved with your best friend's beau? Classic rom-com mistake. Ending up in the arms of an underworld demon named Chaos? Now, that's a Monday.
For a novella, the pace feels like you've had three espresso shots and are sprinting through a haunted Christmas maze. But let's face it, it's the kind of wild ride we need after two years of 2020-esque vibes. The story is spicy, sweet, and wrapped up with a sprinkle of holiday magic. I could almost smell the pine trees, feel the cold December air, and sense the impending demonic doom.
If I had a dollar for every time I wished a book was longer, I'd probably have about twelve dollars, fittingly. But in this case, I genuinely yearned for more pages. The fun and fiery plot combined with the unpredictability of the ending made me wonder: Why can't all holiday tales involve steamy demon romances and major life do-overs?
To cap it off, the plot twist? Chef's kiss. Did not see it coming. In fact, it was like expecting a plate of cookies and getting a gourmet dessert instead.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
DNF at about 4 pages in. So the protagonist starts off explaining that she slept with her best friend’s boyfriend. And then going on and on about how it wasn’t that bad and he was cheating already and she just got caught up in the moment and everyone should calm down. Then her other best friend comes up and tells her she was wrong and that was a shitty thing to do. And she ROLLS HER EYES. What a jerk.
Well, maybe she will be redeemed during the story, but at this point I do not care to see that journey because the author painted her as such a selfish asshole that I hate her. I hate her at just a few pages into the book. That’s saying something.
did this have the best writing in the world, the most developed (or likeable) characters or the best quotes? not exactly, but was it a short, fast-paced novella that was entertaining for the most part? yeah i guess. i did guess the “big twist” at the end, but i think the tropes that this book advertises itself as having contributed a lot to that. i did get frustrated at the fmc’s complete incompetence at trying to get through her days to complete the task she’s been given, and found her really unlikeable as a result 🤷🏼♀️.
SPOILER WARNINGS!! REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS!! Ok, now that warnings are written, heres my review. Couldn't move past page ten! The fact that this book starts off with the fmc ranting about sleeping with her best friends boyfriend with no remorse, I couldn't get past that. Then, when her other best friend tries to scold her and still nothing, I realize this is a ick i can't read about. This has nothing to do with the author but with my own beliefs.
12 day of do overs to get your life straightened out. Why not? While there isn’t much spice to it it was still a great book over all. By the end of it i kinda had an idea of who was who but the surprise factor was still there. I mean your best friend and the demon your pining over are the same person it’s a win win in my book. While Dallas is a little stubborn she obviously learns her lesson. Definitely recommending this book to a friend 😊😊
I enjoyed the banter of the FMC through the book. She's definitely sassy, but in the beginning, it seemed a little over the top. I could tell how it was going to end/who Chaos really was mid book. If you don't like the cheating trope... you're not going to get into this book. It's apparent that in the beginning, the FMC doesn't care she slept with her best friends boyfriend. Overall, I think it's a good quick read.

The book starts with the FMC sleeping with her supposed best friends bf, then laughing when she gets upset..... and it just gets worse from there. What I'm guessing is supposed to be funny or clever banter falls flat in the fact that the characters just aren't built well. Hard pass.
On one hand, I enjoyed the book enough to finish it in one sitting (though it's 130something pages). But I didn't love Dallas as a character. Sure, she somewhat learns her lesson, but she spent most of the book letting her horniness rule her and wasting alot of the days. Still a tad confused by the ending as well.
3.5 ⭐️ This was a fun quick read with some solid spicy scenes! I was a little disappointed with the FMC complete lack of self control in many of the situations she found herself in, but I suppose it was part of the plot.
I loved this book, the storyline was great, I loved the characters especially Chaos/Kellas ❤️ this book had me gripped from the start and I didn't want to put it down. Plenty of spice, love and feelgood reading Loved it!!
This book was very… interesting to say the least. I liked the premise and Dallas showed a lot of growth in repeating the same day over and over. I wish it was longer!
Loved this cut little short story, the main girl has to restart her day over and over again. She need to change things for the better with her friends. Loved the endin
