I helped an injured woman… and in return got pulled through a portal to a magical world and set in the path of a pack of wolf shifters searching for their mates. When they find me, one will claim me. I probably should've asked the woman what it means to be claimed. I definitely should've asked her what mating entails, and if there's a way to get back to Earth. But I didn't, she disappeared, and frankly, I'd rather not make it back home. When the gorgeous pack leader finally catches me, he tells me I'm never going to leave his side… then bites me. And suddenly, I'm lost in a forest called the Broken Woods, being dragged into a violent society of which I know nothing about. I'm starting to feel like Little Red Riding Hood; but my big, bad wolf? He's determined to win my heart. Send help, because I'm going to need it.
Hi, I’m Lola! I’m a book lover with a *slight* romance obsession. My books are all steamy romantic fantasy or paranormal romance, and there is always a happily ever after.
Stop by my Facebook group, Lola's Book Lovers, for updates, giveaways and other fun!
So what I liked about this book were the characters … both Ezra and Ivaylo’s personalities are sweet and so well written. I liked how he was so focused on her and how to please her.
Lola writes amazing worlds and this one again is unique and very interesting.
But … there was no real substance to this story 😔. It was completely about getting a mate and making work and it really couldn’t keep my interest. I need more.
I will read more of Lola’s work but this book\book series is not for me.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
The story was iffy from the first page but I pushed thru to the end. It was a struggle to finish but I’m trying to be better about DNF’ing books. Important things aren’t explained well enough and the whole story the FMC is fighting against what seems to be the inevitable and I don’t even know how to describe the MMC. He is too overly accommodating if that makes sense. The story is a bad written Cinemax movie. Unnecessary sex and a pointless plot. I know better than to read a book where All of the bad reviews are removed.
Such a fun story! I received an arc of this book & it was such a fun time! Ezra had lost her grandparents (the only family she had left) and moved to a place that reminded her of her grandmother. She still felt like it wasn’t right for her, until one day she saw an old woman sitting on the sidewalk and when she went to check on her Ezra’s life changed. She was transported to Evare, a place where werewolves ruled & where they needed to find love.
It’s such a cute story & a fun world I’m so glad I was part of Lola’s arc & I can’t wait to read more.
This was a pallet cleanser book. A basic plot, one I’ve read before in another book except instead of shifters they were fae…. It was a quick read that occupied a few hours of my afternoon.
3 stars. Nothing special but it was quick and cute at some parts. I love Lola Glass for how simple her books are and how many of them she puts out. This series is okay, but I’m invested. I have a feeling I’ll like the second one better.
This was not my favorite. I had a hard time getting into this book finding a story line for it. I love all of Lola Glass work but this one fell flat for me. I really hope the next one is better or at least have some sort of story line. It was very simple. She was abducted from earth, put in his den and somehow in their explanation of their worlds they fell in love. This is the first book that I personally would not recommend. That being said, I still hold strong that Lola Glass is an excellent writer and her books are great, this one just was not for me.
Much of the time, I love this author. This wasn’t one of them.
It was just too shallow, too fast, too cringe, and the world building less than minimal. At least from the parts I did read. I fully read the first half, but then started skimming, and eventually just skipping large portions.
It was just so silly, and not in a good, amusing way.
The FMC is abducted and dumped on an alien planet, told she will be claimed and mated, and he will be lusty. She essentially just shrugs, accepts, sits down and waits. Uh huh, totally plausible…
He bites her, initiating coerced lust, and locks her in his underground home to await her submission. After ONE day, she basically agrees they are mates, she just wants to take it slow, to do things the human way (cause while apparently everything about home and humans is ‘bad’ and needing to be escaped, it’s also still the best way 🤷♀️).
The world building is, ‘this is the answer, just don’t look behind the curtain’. Or question. Like how they pay for supplies, transport them, make them, industry, jobs, farming … and a million other details that just gets in the way.
I get not having to have all the details sorted. But they have this warriors society, but no workers, no setup. Modern conveniences, but no modern culture.
The gaps are too big.
It’s like the FMC. Everything is too easy, too simple, too booorrring. Some detail and development is needed to make you want to read until the end.
This was somebody’s daydream, jumping from point to point, focusing on the bits that made them happy, and not worrying the details that would explain it to those not privy to their heads. 😂🫣
I mean I love Lola Glass but this one had a weak start. It was an interesting base but just did not have the grab that Lola’s books usually have from the beginning.

This book is part of the Claimed by the Wolf series and the main characters are human female Ezra and alpha wolf shifter Ivaylo. She was on her way home when she stopped to help a woman sitting on the kerb in the rain, who it turned out had a broken ankle. But instead of needing help, the sorceress Serae pulled her through a portal to her own world, Evare, for Ezra to become a mate of one of the wolf shifters on the other side of the Broken Woods. Her arrival will have sent the fifty or so shifters into a mate run, for one of them to claim her. The sorceress leaves her alone as she returns to Earth to find another human female, to try and make up for the curse she put on his people eons ago. There have been no more females born on his planet because of Serae, so their population has been declining rapidly, as those who weren’t able to find a mate and move to the Peak, live near the Broken Woods and await a mate, or give up and disappear into the ether as they go mad. Ezra wasn’t all that upset at being taken away from her lonely life on Earth, but maybe should have asked a few more questions, before the howls of multiple wolves could be heard. Ivaylo wasn’t waiting for a mate, having given up ever finding one like his parents, wanting to save the others in his pack from fading away due to the madness!
But when Ezra was brought through the portal, he caught the scent of his fated mate and the urge trigger his mating run. He reached her before any of his pack and had to rush back and get her safely into his den, before anyone could try and take her from him. She gets a view of the violence these shifters can bring, as one of them fights Ivaylo for her! The mating frenzy is hard for him to resist and the power of it covers him in a glow, some of which is also showing on Ezra’s skin, not that she fully understands any of it. She should have asked the sorceress a few more questions, but everything happened so fast. He is the ideal mate or husband, not allowing her to lift a hand, even doing all the cooking and cleaning, saying it is his duty as her mate to look after her. Perfect partner here by the sounds of it! He wants her to accept their mating, but he has to learn about their differences and get her to fall in love with him. She teaches him about human relationships and becoming friends before they become lovers. Some things are scary out there for her, but she can tell he would never hurt her, nor will any of the others in his pack, now they have accepted her as his. Serae is supposed to return at some point and Ezra decides to do lessons for the other shifters, to help them understand the females coming to their world and how to woe a human female. She has been working on Ivaylo so he has been her guinea pig during this process. Eventually Ezra becomes aware of the fact she does love him, loving the protective side of him and how perfectly she fits with him. Their first proper time together, she wants without them being at the top of the frenzy, but with a conscious decision of their own. He has had a painful role for so many decades, trying to keep his pack members alive as they await mates, losing so many, but now rewarded for his work with Ezra and a family of their own!
Lots of emotion, without an immediate mating, as people from two different worlds have to figure out the bond between them and how to reach an understanding of traditions and relationship building. I loved how inventive the shifters were in where and how they built their dens within trees and the features within them, with solitary chairs and no table for many, as the madness took hold too easily for those with no hope of having a mate, but with two chairs, pushing the madness quicker for many. Nice to see her meet his young parents! Misunderstandings and silence are far too easy to allow to occur, but communication is necessary when they have started out so different. A lovely HEA ending and I look forward to reading the other book in the series soon. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Both of the main characters are kind of lost in their lives until they find each other. While Ivaylo accepts his fate right away and adapts to pursue Ezra an make her fall in love, Ezra has to wrap her head around being dragged into a new world with new rules and fate running things... Like always, there is a happy end waiting for the characters after they work their issues out. This is a low angst read, perfect for when you want to get cozy, relax and need a comforting story to read.
Something about shifters just does it for me and this new book from Lola Glass definitely pushed the right buttons. Lost in the Broken Woods is the first book of Glass’ new series, Claimed by the Wolf and is a great beginning.
It starts off with Ezra, a human that has little left to enjoy in life. And in a moment of concern for another, gets dragged to another world. Despite this, she manages to find the positives in her situation, something she learned from her grandmother. Frankly, I don’t know how Ezra didn’t lose it when the sorceress essentially just dropped her off, told her she had a mate and then took off, a minute tops.
Ivaylo is the alpha wolf of the small pack of unmated males who are fighting off the life-draining effects of being alone and without fated mates. He has managed to stave off those effects by concentrating on his pack. But being the first to find Ezra, realizing that she is his fated mate and then claiming her, providing for her becomes his priority. Even if that means accepting her human ways.
This is a slow burn book but with a good set up for the next in the series. Ezra does drag her feet a bit too much despite knowing she is rather attracted to Ivaylo and really isn’t going back to her world. She does have the ability to learn a lot about this wolf culture and to teach all the wolves about humans, something that they will need in the near future. And she embraces that opportunity.
I really enjoyed this book. There isn’t much of a surprise plot twist, rather it is more of a developing relationship and Ezra coming to terms with her new reality. Minimal to mild angst but I get the feeling it won’t be as low key in the coming books. I can’t wait to read them!

Lola Glass's Claimed by the Wolf series kicks off with Lost in the Broken Woods. It was a light, romantic, and entertaining read, everything I've come to expect from Lola.
I instantly liked Ezra "Ez" (the MFC) and Ivaylo "Vay" (gods, Lola is killing me with that name). Ez went with things fairly easy, she wasn't unreasonable and she actually communicated instead of throwing fits. Ez was open and willing trying and she lucked up with Vay. That man is an example of shifter devotion. Vay is understanding, protective, caring loving, patient, possessive, and so much more. He's swoon-worthy that's for sure.
The plot was fairly simple. Ezra was taken from Earth to the magical world of Evare. She and Ivaylo have a whirlwind romance. I enjoyed those parts but the world-building is what got me. This story is concentrated on shifters but there are other magical creatures in this world. The shifters are notorious loners when it comes to other species but I wanna know what else is out there. I have a theory they may be linked with another of Lola's series. A little of the shifters' history was given and it was interesting. These wolf shifters were a little different, Lola did a mix of different attributes that I've come across and their relationships were a little different than I was used to, which all made for a more compelling read.
I very much enjoyed Lost in the Broken Woods. Lola has created an interesting world with enjoyable characters, and a light-hearted plot. Sometimes it's nice to not have a break from all the drama and Ez and Vay were definitely low on the drama. I especially loved the epilogues that we got. If you enjoyed Lola's Wild Hunt series then I highly suggest you pick this one up.
It was so enticing that I couldn’t put it down, this book grabbed my interest from the very first page. I had to know what happened next. The story is well written with a very good storyline. This series has two books. Each book in this fantasy romance trilogy follows a different couple with their own happily ever after, and the stories can be read in any order. This is the first standalone book in the Claimed By The Wolves series. This a story about a woman named Ezra, (her parents wanted a son to name Ezra, but instead gave birth to a daughter, but didn’t care enough to change the name after she was born) and male wolf shifter named Ivaylo who is the Alpha of the pack. She helped an injured woman, and in return got pulled through a portal to a magical world and set in the path of a pack of wolf shifters searching for their mates. When they find her, one will claim her. She probably should've asked the woman what it means to be claimed and she definitely should've asked her what mating entails, and if there's a way to get back to Earth; but she didn't, she disappeared, and frankly, she’d rather not make it back home. When the gorgeous pack leader finally catches her, he tells her that she’s never going to leave his side, then bites her, and suddenly, she’s lost in a forest called the Broken Woods, being dragged into a violent society of which she knows nothing about. She’s starting to feel like Little Red Riding Hood; but her big, bad wolf is determined to win her heart. Send help, because she’s going to need it. So with all that and more this story pulls you in and holds you tight. I can’t wait to read the next story in the series. I highly recommend to everyone.
Part of the Claimed by the wolf series, most of her books grab you from the beginning and don’t let you go until the last page is turned. Ezra makes you want to give her a huge hug after losing so much she is sad no family when she finds a women who needs her help little did she know it was a witch who cursed the Ivaylo pack to counter her curse (which was a little too harsh) she comes to earth bring back mates for them and so when Ezra stops to help her she is transported to a magical world where she is told she is someone’s mate. Ivaylo sexy as all get out alpha of a small pack of unmated wolf shifters tired, fighting the life draining effects of not finding their fated mates being alone drives them to a brink of insanity but for him he concentrates on the pack which keeps his mind active until the moment he lays eyes on the beautiful women on his path knowing she is his fated mate shifting his priority to claiming his mate, taking care of his mate and providing for his mate but she is human something he knows nothing about. Although, he is willing to learn all/any human ways to make her happy but Ezra is a little slow still trying to accept the changes even though her world was sad she still misses it but she does what her grandmother taught her find the positive in the situation no matter but will they accept the human ways, will the witch bring back a few more human women, will she accept their ways, and can they find happiness despite the newness of the situation?
Ezra is on her own, having lost all of her family and just moved to a new town. She stops in a car park in the rain to help a lady sitting on the pavement, only to suddenly find herself in a new world, Evare, and is told that "the shifters will have begun their mate run. Soon, one will find you and claim you". She's not too sure about the situation but waits where she is trying to understand her new situation when a wolf comes out of the trees, only to become a man and bite her.
Ivaylo is the Alpha of the wolf shifters and has been hoping for a mate for hundreds of years. He smells her the moment Ezra arrives in Evare and claims her. He now just has to help her to believe in fate and that they are meant to be together. Though Ezra accepts that his den is hers, she is determined that they should find friendship first and learn more about each other; but how long can they resist the Frenzy and will Ezra be happy to claim Ivaylo as hers?
Another fantastically heartwarming story by Lola Glass; full of deep emotion, brilliant characters with great chemistry between them, plenty of humor and spice. It was lovely to see another part of the world of Evare that we first saw in the "Forbidden Mates" series. Great for a cozy read & I would strongly recommend.

🌷 MY OPINION: A fairytale plot with a slow brun, sweet romance! And there's shape shifting wolves! What more could you ask for! 🩷 Bonus, this is the first book in the series, so yippee there's more to come 🌷
Ezra (named that because her parents expected a boy and just kept the name after she was born) moved to Georgia. She was alone, and was struggling. She had no family left. Although she had her teaching degree and an inheritance, she ignored both. It just didn’t feel right anymore. But her grandma had always told her to find at least one thing to feel positive about every day, and that has kept her going.
It was raining now and she spotted a woman sitting on the asphalt in the rain, looking up to the sky. Ezra walked over to her to see if she needed help and gave her a candy bar to eat as they talked. The woman touched Ezra’s cheek and she was transported through a portal to Evare among werewolves looking for a mate. There was magic and strange creatures there. Ezra is to be claimed by the Alpha Ivaylo and he is protective, gentle, and loving with her. She has nothing for her back home, so she is content to remain in Evare. Still, she wasn’t expecting Ivaylo to bite her!
Ezra will have much to learn here in the forest they refer to as the Broken Woods. But at least she won’t be alone with her wolf beside her. What will her new life be like?
Initially, I thought this fantasy was only mildly interesting. It grows on you as the dialogue between Ezra and Ivaylo reveal simple, realistic and humorous interchanges. Ezra, who recently lost her grandparents, was transported to Broken Woods in a realm called Evare by Serae, a witch, who is trying to rectify a curse that she placed upon the shifters here. The males are fading away due to madness and loneliness without mates. Luckily, Ivaylo is the first to find Ezra, recognizes her as his mate and claims her with a bite! Yikes 😳! The rest of the story entails each one trying to understand the other’s different mating habits. It’s very endearing. Readers will sympathize with the shifters’ plight and cheer on Ezra as she is committed to extending hope to this pack. Her method is to teach them how to woo the women when they arrive via Serae. And readers will also look forward to the next couple to be mated. [ I want to read about the handsome Worren, who’s ready to fade away.]. Here’s howling atcha! Lol 😝 This is a cute and entertaining fantasy worth 4 stars ⭐️. I have received an ARC from Booksprout and I am leaving an unbiased review voluntarily.
I lose myself in this author's books each and every time. This has the feel of an old fashioned fairy tale to it but I cannot quite put my finger on why. That aside I loved it. So often the female is so intentionally blinkered, purposefully misundertands or knowingly takes everything the wrong way, She says she wants one thing and honestly wants something else and the male just runs around after her thinking how lovely she is and it drives me insane! This is not one of those books, thank whatever deity you care to raw strength from. Ezra was a strong character without being irritating. She handled being dragged from one world to another with grace and some bookcase climbing. She was a delight. Ivaylo told the truth even if it might show him and his pack in a bad light. He came across as caring, open to vulnerability and as having a strong sense of right and wrong. They each tried to understand each other and be kind, although it cannot always happen and this book is all the richer for it. I can't wait to read about the next pairing.
"I usually don't do this type of fantasy/paranormal romance, but boy, am I glad I did. Lola Glass is a great author, no doubt about it.
This is actually a great perception of how the FMC is and how I would have reacted at her point at that age going through the whole process of being kidnapped and given such short info and with how she has to get her mind to accept that she's in a whole different world and what she goes through. I really haven't met many like the MMC, but if I was young again I would TOTALLY want one just like him, growls, provider, protector and friend who doesn't lie about anything even though it might hurt.
I know that I will be waiting for the next one to come out and then the one after that, too. Real good book to read in an afternoon, or maybe even a weekend, depending on your schedule.
This is a really good story, and I only have one issue with it, and that is that it wasn't longer. But that's just my opinion, so don't let it determine how you feel.

Lost in the Broken Woods is a standalone novel and the first book in the Claimed by the Wolf series. I really enjoyed this take on fated mates romance. I liked that the physical and emotional relationship between Ezra and Ivaylo took time to build.
In this book, Ezra is transported to Ivaylo's world and is told she's about to be claimed in a mate run. She's understandably confused by this sudden turn of events but is she's happy to be away from Earth. I liked Ezra and enjoyed her interactions with Ivaylo. Ivaylo is a protective and caring hero. They come from very different cultures and must learn to navigate those differences.
Lost in the Broken Woods focuses on the romance and takes place in an interesting and different world. I would recommend it to fans of Paranormal or Fantasy Romance.
I look it forward to more books in this series.

Even though it was kinda slow moving, once I got into It and attached to the main characters “Ez and Vay” it flowed pretty well. Although Ezra got on my nerves 😬🫠 with her lack of enthusiasm and emotions toward Iovayo her supposed mate.🙄🙈I mean, why do these god like guys have to bend over backwards for the human women🤔to become their mates, I’m sorry but that’s a bit too much, it should be an equal thing imo.🤨🥴her books seem to focus on these guys nearly worshiping the women that are basically kidnapped by a dumbass witch who casted a spell that caused the dwindling of the female population. Sounds to me like she should have been dealt with for screwing up.🤔but that’s my opinion.💁🏻♀️anyway, good love story, but totally unrealistic bcz males are definitely not like that.😆moving on to find a little more realistic romantasy.😂
I have mixed feelings about this book, this book was a nice easy book to read and like her other books I have read lately it lacks a plot twist.
The characters were ok in this book I didn’t love or hate them but they lacked something, they changed so quickly to be what the over person wanted and a lot of back and forth on the female side on what she thought she wanted.
I like the back story toward the pack and the curse on them and would love more exploration into that aspect. This book is heavily more romance than plot driven which isn’t a bad thing if that’s what you’re in the mood for.
The spice was good in this book, like her other books she does write good spice scenes. Overall an alright book it’s a quick read if you just need something to get you out of your other heavy world building reads.
When Ezra goes to help a woman who is sitting on the side of the road, she ends up in a forest being told to stay where she is and that her mate would find her. Confused and unsure of what is happening, she is stunned when a wolf turns up and changes into a man, Ivaylo, who claims her with a bite. As Ivaylo takes her to his den she finds out more of what will happen. As she explains how humans deal with relationships, both Ezra and Ivaylo have to learn to communicate with each other before they are both happy for Ezra to claim Ivaylo. Beautiful and heartwarming, this is a perfect story for a cosy read. Highly recommended.

The MC just didn't do it for me, I generally don't like people who argue for the sake of it. If she's so feisty how come all she did was sit in the same spot for 2 hrs. She didn't even ask where she could find the witch or others like her if she was so inclined to be difficult and go home.
The world build is lacking for me but what really threw me was a fully working bathroom when the lights were provided by bugs. Let's also not forget the "home" or whatever, is underground, under a tree. Please don't say magic, that would make some books 2 pages long.
Don't know about everyone else but I like to immerse myself and literally forget the time when I read. When I start to question things, I start skipping and get bored.
3.5 stars Ezra is a lonely woman transported to a different world by a witch. She is meant to be a wolf shifters mate. What the witch does not tell her is that she will change. Not only does she know the language, but she is changing into a wolfshifter. Ivaylo is the alpha of his pack who is trying to keep his men from devolving into madness and literally disappearing. The witch who is kidnapping females is the one who cursed them, in a fit of temper. Ivaylo is just barely keeping it together and on this first attempt to bring a human, he finds his mate. This was a good story. It started good, but kind of lost momentum. Ezra and Ivaylo built a good relationship while learning about their different cultures.
I started skimming at 70%. It was just so boring! I didn't like Ezra at all so I didn't care what she did. Ivaylo seemed like a doormat and only cared what Ezra wanted. The division of labor seemed very unfair and unhealthy. There was way too much telling instead of showing.
I didn't agree with Ezra about how human women would react to being transported. I don't think she could speak for all women based on her beliefs, which didn't even make sense to me. In what world are people reluctant to marry? People who shouldn't still get married all the time. That's definitely why the divorce rate is so high, but she acted like no one wants to do it. If the reason they are brought to the wolves is because they have nothing keeping them on Earth, I think a lot of women would like it.
