Judy Blume spent her childhood in Elizabeth, New Jersey, making up stories inside her head. She has spent her adult years in many places doing the same thing, only now she writes her stories down on paper. Adults as well as children will recognize such Blume titles as: Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret; Blubber; Just as Long as We're Together; and the five book series about the irrepressible Fudge. She has also written three novels for adults, Summer Sisters; Smart Women; and Wifey, all of them New York Times bestsellers. More than 80 million copies of her books have been sold, and her work has been translated into thirty-one languages. She receives thousands of letters a year from readers of all ages who share their feelings and concerns with her.
Judy received a B.S. in education from New York University in 1961, which named her a Distinguished Alumna in 1996, the same year the American Library Association honored her with the Margaret A. Edwards Award for Lifetime Achievement. Other recognitions include the Library of Congress Living Legends Award and the 2004 National Book Foundation's Medal for Distinguished Contribution to American Letters.
She is the founder and trustee of The Kids Fund, a charitable and educational foundation. She serves on the boards of the Author's Guild; the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators; the Key West Literary Seminar; and the National Coalition Against Censorship.
Judy is a longtime advocate of intellectual freedom. Finding herself at the center of an organized book banning campaign in the 1980's she began to reach out to other writers, as well as teachers and librarians, who were under fire. Since then, she has worked tirelessly with the National Coalition Against Censorship to protect the freedom to read. She is the editor of Places I Never Meant To Be, Original Stories by Censored Writers.
Judy has completed a series of four chapter books -- The Pain & the Great One -- illustrated by New Yorker cartoonist James Stevenson. She has co-written and produced a film adaptation of her book Tiger Eyes, and is currently writing a new novel.
Judy and her husband George Cooper live on islands up and down the east coast. They have three grown children and one grandchild.

Another read with my brilliant little girl. I love I can pass these down to her as when I read them as a child I enjoyed them just as much. It was so fun reading words and sentences I read when I was young. Always a special place in my heart for these Blume books.

The book "Super fudge" by Judy Blume, it teaches us a very important lesson of how someone can care about somebody even though they try there hardest to not care. For example, at the beginning of the book perter was very affected by the fact that his mother was having another baby. Furthermore, it also shows how Peter mood changes from the beginning of the book through the middle, of how in the beginning he was upset and how in the middle he couldn't wait for the baby to be born. This shows that, Peter shows his true feeling towards the baby by not only showing him the way he was feeling about him but also, protecting the baby and caring more about him.

Fudge-a-Mania Nonstop action
By: Judy Blume

The book Fudge-a-Mania is a very descriptive book that includes features that anyone could relate to in real life. This book is about a boy named Peter Hatcher who has to spend three whole weeks with his least favorite person on the planet, Shelia Tubman. He has to stay with her because his family is going to Maine for a few weeks in August. It also happens to be the same time the Tubman’s are on vacation as well.

Peter’s family includes his baby sister tootsie, his little brother Fudge, his dog Turtle, Uncle Feather the bird, his Grandma, and Mom and Dad. Peter’s best friend is a boy named Jimmy Fargo. He isn’t very fond of Shelia either. Peter invites Jimmy and convinces him to meet him in Maine.

On the way to Maine, Peter’s little brother Fudge which is short for Farley Drexel, decides he is going to marry Shelia Tubman under the trees in Maine. It was a long ten hours to be stuck in the car with a bunch of ruckus in the back seat.

When the Hatcher’s finally made it to Maine they went into their house to find Shelia sitting inside it. Peter was in utter disbelief. He was wrong to think that the Tubman’s were his neighbors, but they were going to be sharing a house together!

After the first few days of being in Maine, Shelia offers to babysit Fudge every afternoon for seven dollars an hour. Mrs.Hatcher agrees to it, and Shelia is now Fudge’s babysitter. While in Maine, Fudge meets a girl named Mitzy that is the same age. Mitzy is a retired major league baseball player Big Apfel’s granddaughter. She becomes friends with Fudge and she also loves to play the sport baseball as well.

It felt like forever, but Jimmy Fargo finally made it to Maine. On his way, Peter met a gorgeous young library assistant and he became a part of the I.S.A.F club. Which stands for I swallowed a fly club. All without Jimmy. So the next day Mr.Hatcher rented a sailboat and the whole family went sailing except for Fudge who had a blueberry incident and had to stay back. On the boat there was a huge puff of wind that nearly tipped the boat over. When Peter, Jimmy, The Tubman’s, and the rest of Peter’s family was trying to dock the boat, Mr.Hatcher fell into the water.

Later the next day, there was a big baseball game with Big Apfel. Peter was very excited and was very confident he was going to do good. Jimmy did not want to participate because he was nervous he was going to do bad. Peter ended up stuck on Fudge’s team, and Jimmy ended up on the beautiful library assistant Isobel’s team. Peter was playing second base when a fly ball was hit to him. He got distracted to see if Big Apfel was watching, and the ball dropped right at his feet, and he overthrew to first. When he was at bat, he hit one over the third baseman’s head who happened to be his grandmother, but she jumped up and snagged the ball in her glove. When Isobel was up to bat she hit it to Mitzy and threw to to Fudge. Fudge then walked over to Peter and handed him the ball. Peter caught Isobel in a rundown and got her out. She was mad at Peter and now disliked him.

Lastly, Peter’s Grandma and Shelia’s grandpa announced that they were going to be getting married. This was the worst news of the whole trip for Peter and Shelia. All while Jimmy thought that this news was entertaining, and was laughing. A few days went by and they had the wedding.

Overall, I would give this book 5/5 stars. This is because it was a very descriptive book with many details. I think this book would be good for children ages seven and up. The book Fudge-a-mania has a fun childlike element that I think many readers would enjoy.

I really enjoyed reading Fudge-a-mania! I am glad that there are more books in the series. This book is really funny and it makes me want to keep reading. I can't wait for Peter, Sheila and Fudges next adventure because they are so much fun to read about. Judy Blume is a wonderful writer who finds the funny in everyday life. I especially like the characteur Fudge. He is always getting into trouble. An example of this is when Fudge ate so many blueberries and got so sick that he turned blue. I am interested in reading more books by Judy Blume and I would recommend this book to my friends!

I think this is a brilliant book to read. Peter is going to Maine to see a wedding. But the bride is Peter's classmate Sheila and the groom is his little brother, Fudge. But it turns out in the end, the bride is Peter's grandmother and the groom is Sheila's grandfather. If you are curios, you may want to read it!

My children loved the fudge series and requested these books be read to them (from age three to ten) at least once a year.

How would you feel if you had to share a house with you worse enemy?Or even worse finding out your 5 year old brother is planing to get married with her? This book is called "Fudge a mania" and in this book Peter has to handle his younger brother which is always getting in trouble. In my opinion I really enjoyed this book because of the things Fudge did.

In this story Peter and his family went to a trip to Maine. He finds out that his 5 year old brother named Fudge is planing to marry Peter's worst enemy, Shelia Tubman. His family has to go through a lot of challenges throughout their trip and also, they meet a lot of new people. I think the conflict of this story is person vs self because even though he would fight often with Shelia and Fudge there was still more of his own problems cause by his bad choices. The theme of this book is to be more careful with your actions and choices.

I think the title "Fudge a mania" relates to the book because Fudge is a very energetic character that is always doing something odd that usually gets him in trouble or gets Peter mad. The fact of making the setting be a house that the only thing separating Peter and the Tubman's family is a simple wall is important to the story because it's hard for Peter to control his angry when he has to share a house with his worse enemy but, at the end makes him get used to them.

I liked how the author was specific when he explained how the characters felt about certain stuff. I really liked the book but, I thought the ending was kinda boring because nothing really interesting happened. That is why if I were to be the author I would have added a bit more text and events at the end.

I'll rate this book a 4 out of 5 because I liked it because it was funny and I was able to relate a lot with some of the characters but, at the same time it wasn't best book ever it could've have had a bit more event so it could leave us with curiosity. I would recommend this book to a person that likes funny books but, that they also have a meaning to it. I would really encourage you to read this book. Just try to imagine how Peter has to handle his younger brother who is always getting in trouble and is really energetic.

these books were great examples of the stresses of life being a kid: school, siblings, and most important, not having a say in lots of things!

My sons and I read this together. While I'm sure nostalgia is getting to me, it doesn't compare to Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing or Super Fudge and the memorable events of those books.

This set turned out to be a perfect gift for my two girls (rising first and second graders at the time). They're still reading it over and over to themselves two years later. In fact, they've got the Super Fudge audio CD on rotation in the basement now, so I bought Blubber this morning and plan to pick up another personal favorite in the future (Are You There...?)

Highly recommended for any kid that has siblings or wishes they had one or two.
