I'm tired of this revolving door of agents. Four of them have bailed on me in the past year, and honestly, I expect the rookie, Jase, to be number five.
It's not like I'm asking for much.
Just a contract long enough to pay off college tuition for my triplet younger brothers, the trio of chaos, and maybe an endorsement that doesn't make me totally cringe. I don't care about fame and media attention; I'm happy just playing the game and keeping a low profile.
Or at least, that's what I thought.
But when Jase suggests a night out dancing in disguise, I don't say no. Even though I have no idea why. There's something about Jase that makes me want to do all the things I've been avoiding for years.
But I have responsibilities, and despite what my brothers tell me, I'm just not sure if I can let go and truly open up to anyone, especially my sexy rookie agent.
(Totally Blitzed was previously included in the CLASS OF 22/23 MM ROMANCE GIVEAWAY under the title: BLITZED. It has been recovered to tie in with the series, but the actual story remains the same.)
Becca Jackson writes MM romance that delivers heart, heat, and happily ever afters for some totally adorkable and fabulous guys.
Becca’s books have all your favorites, small-town romances, bi-awakenings, sports, friends to lovers, and enemies to lovers too, but no matter the trope that takes your fancy, you’ll always find a happily ever after.
After reading Totally Ducked, I saw that there was a short novella that serves as a prequel to the series that was also available on Amazon. I wasn't quite sure what the link would be to the story I had already read, as the characters didn't match, and they weren't involved in hockey or Banana Ball (the sports mentioned in the first book) but rather in football. However, since it was only 63 pages, so I decided it was worth reading.
Given its brief length, I prepared myself in advance not to expect anything complex or deep... Because there's no time for that, really. But despite that, I was pleasantly surprised by Jase’s and Parker’s relationship.
Parker is an NFL player who doesn't want to be famous or make money endorsing products that go against his principles. Still, he needs all the money he can get and a good contract to support his three younger triplet brothers, who are attending college. To make matters worse, he's not having good luck with his agents, and he's considering changing agencies when he's assigned to Jase, a rookie agent much younger than him.
Jase, though a family member of the company's boss, has potential as an agent and knows he’s good. He is eager to be given the opportunity to show what he can do, and when his boss calls him into his office, he expects it to be his moment. But instead of assigning him to a young promise, they assign him to Parker, who clearly isn't thrilled about the situation.
This little story doesn't focus so much on their professional relationship but on how, once they get to know each other, they become more than just player/agent.
Despite its brevity, I found it incredibly amusing, from seeing them go out dancing in disguise and how that night of partying turns into an attraction and a connection they both decide to explore, to the conversations with Parker's brothers, who are a chaotic trio that I hope we have the opportunity to get to know in some future book in this same series.
I got a notification for Becca Jackson's newest novella "Blitzed" in my email the other day. It's available through #ProlificWorks. ["Parker I'm tired of this revolving door of agents. There wasn't much angst in this book. It was really refreshing. Just some I-shouldn't-feel-this-way-about-him-because-we-work-together-now feelings, on both sides. But it was instant attraction, instant chemistry, instant love. They had people on both sides tell them to live and let live, to let go, to have fun, to fall in love. It was gloriously supportive. And fall in love they did. ;)
Low-key athlete, rookie agent, and a sweet slow-burn payoff
Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️ Parker just wants stability—enough to support his mischievous triplet brothers—while rookie agent Jase is determined to prove himself. Their professional dynamic shifts when a night out in disguise sparks unexpected attraction, leading Parker to question whether he can balance responsibility with vulnerability. The chemistry between Parker and Jase feels natural, the banter with Parker’s brothers adds heart, and the dancing-in-disguise setup is fun. While the plot is lighter on external conflict and the resolution is predictable, it’s still a warm, satisfying romance that ties neatly into the Love in Play world.
When Parker meets Jase his new agent he thinks he’s to young and expects him to be useless like his previous agents but Jase shocks him in more ways than one .
Very cute story for a novella. We get the first story of the season and love the way how Jase is there for Parker and helping him be a star. It was a good fast read.
Tᴏᴛᴀʟʟʏ Bʟɪᴛᴢᴇᴅ (Love In Play 0.5) • Becca Jackson 🍁🍁🍁 • 📕
Jase and Parker take us on their journey to their happily ever after complete with sports (football), agent • athlete, size difference and closeted mc.
Parker has struggled with agents and is ready to give up until Jase comes along and changes everything.
A quick read that gives a fun little introduction to the Love In Play series. I can not wait to read more from this world.
I rated this novella 3.5 stars, so I rounded it up to 4 stars. This is the first time that I’ve read anything that Becca Jackson has written. I liked this novella but I do wish that it was a full length book as I was just getting a feel for the characters, their connection and then it was the end of this quick read. I hope that we may get a snippet of Jase and Parker as the series continues since this connected to the Love in Play Series but only time will tell. I also hope that Parker’s brothers, the Trio of Chaos (triplets) will get their own stories as they seem like a riot if their text conversations are any indication. I’m looking forward to reading the first full length book of this series. It’s Jase’s cousin Duckie’s turn to find love. I'd recommend this novella, series and author.
This was a great short story. When I finished I was a little sad it wasn’t a full novel because it had a great storyline and it has awesome secondary characters
I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
