I've only read Melissa's books that are A part of a series. I liked themso I thought this would be a nice Christmas read. I'm not a fan of Christmas but the stories were cheesy and good spirited enough
The two short stories (“A Taste of Christmas” and “Snow Pine Christmas”) were festive, cozy reads, perfect for fans of Christmas romance movies.
Unfortunately, the full-length novel (“A Wonderful Life”) had a very different tone and didn’t meet my expectations. Spoilers below:
The early chapters were more serious than cozy, and Finn and Abby’s storylines didn’t intersect until almost 30% in. It definitely had a cute festive feel when they were together but that part was brief and the only thing Christmasy. The story then focused on only Abby for a long while as she had positive (and expensive) experiences with friends and family. The last third of the book brought Finn back on the scene, but overall, this story was more about Abby getting over her ex, starting her life again and dealing with a serious medical issue. Not very cozy. Felt like the movie 50 First Dates but without the humor.
3⭐️for the short stories 2⭐️for the novel (since that was the bulk of this collection, I gave it an overall 2⭐️)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Started off with A Taste of Christmas. A kind of cheesy romantic tale. Hershell’s, a chocolate company (seriously you couldn’t be more more obvious doing a knock off Hershey chocolate company), is having a contest for people to make a new chocolate treat for Christmas.
Then the longest story in the book, A Wonderful Life. Abby is trying to get over her ex when she experiences a head injury. Her family is nervous but she thinks she’s okay until she starts having some memory issues. She goes on a year long quest of big adventures to make lasting memories and may have found new love in the process with a dog trainer, Finn.
The last story is Snow Pine Christmas. Jennifer has started a new job as the event planner at the Snow Pine ski lodge in Colorado. Her first big event is coming up during the Christmas season. Turns out her client is her high school boyfriend. Can she pull it off?
A Taste of Christmas is a collection of novels, including one long-form holiday drama and two short novellas. The two short reads were cheesy and needed a lot of editing, but the longer book (It’s a Wonderful Life) pulled me in pretty quickly. Amnesia plot line without being too 50 First Dates. A cute and cozy KU find to read by the tree this weekend!
This is a book that has 3 short stories in it. They are Christmasy love(ish) stories. I really enjoyed the 2nd story. A woman has an accident where she gets hit on the head with a falling object. She has memory issues after that and works to make new memories and hold on to old ones. She finds love and a way around the memory issues.
Each of the stories there are challenges that need to taken care of, The second story, the longest of the three gave off 50 first dates vibes. Romance is in the air around Christmas time.
I should have read the description because I didn’t realize this was several short stories instead of a novel. The amount of grammatical errors was annoying. I just wasn’t a big fan.
Two short stories and a full length book are contained in the volume. All of the stories are Christmas themed and sugary sweet. Lives up to the subtitle.
Most poorly edited book I have read in quite a while. There were so many grammatical errors it was torture reading it, so I didn't. My suggestion, get a new publisher, or at least a new editor.
