These writings in honor of Douglas F. Kelly pay tribute to the impact his ministry of preaching, teaching, writing, and mentoring have had on countless people. Featuring essays from a host of contributors, including John Currid, Sinclair Ferguson, and Ligon Duncan, From Generation to Generation points not only to the contribution Dr. Kelly has given to the church, but also to the God whom he loves and serves.
Having known Douglas Kelly, this was a very enjoyable read. The entry by his wife, Caroline, is almost worth the price of the book as she develops the rich family legacy that molded his life. There are priceless stories and anecdotes. Especially the story his son tells about a lecture at the Evangelical Theological Society where he from memory quotes Irenaeus in Latin then translates it into English (page 351). Amazing mind!
The various contributions are uneven in quality and depth, but those from his former students are heartfelt and appreciative. The entry by Ligon Duncan is a powerful apologetic for the need of seminary training for the church.
