Blair Babylon is the nom de plume of an award-winning, USA Today-bestselling author who used to publish literary fiction. Because professional reviews of her other fiction usually included the caveat that there was too much deviant sex and too much interesting plot, she decided to abandon all literary pretensions, let her freak flag fly, and write hot, sexy, erotic romance.
Bought this book as Amazon said I had 3 books missing in the series, but it turns out it is the 2nd half of Hard Liquor repeated. I re-read Hard Liquor to remind myself what had happened, then started Strong Spirits and it was word for word the same as the 2nd half of Hard Liquor. Annoyed that I wasted money on what I thought was a new book. I love Blair's books and I don't know what happened here. Did she originally write a big book then decide to split it in two, but my copy of Hard Liquor includes Strong Spirits. I am really annoyed as I just spent £11.47 on 3 books that were included in books I already had. So before buying books 2. 4 and 6 check if you have the full or half versions of 1, 3 and 5.
Blair has a flair for the intriguing aspects of a book she written. You really have a problem putting it down once you start reading it. I have to admit that I have read these series totally out of order but still loved everything about them!
Finally the story ends! This last book in the saga of Arthur and Gen is the best one, perhaps because there is less sex and more plot. Gen and Arthur get their day in court, in the House of Lords and most of the plot lines get tied up, but not all of them. This book is the best in the series, which really doesn't say much for Ms. Babylon. Aptly named incidentally. Once again I will express my view that if Ms. Babylon had better editing, hadn't divided the story into four separate books, and toned down the sex she could have had a best seller. This may be so for the other books in her name but I'll leave that for someone else to comment on since I won't be reading anything else written by this author.
