DS Jack Townsend and the rest of the Specialist Crimes Unit are called into action once again, as an apparent suicide of a middle-aged man is more sinister than it seems...

Wow this is the second book I have read in this series..I love detective books and this is right at the top..I cannot put these books down...I recommend for all the readers who like detective murder books ...with action and some emotion to give this a try..excellent! & now onto the next one.....
I do enjoy books set in a locality I know well and a book based on my hometown was a no brainer. well written and enjoyable, only downside knowing an area so well, you have to allow for the authors "artistic impression" especially when the book travelling about the area. Why did he go via there to get there? etc.
As our hero stumbles, recovers, and intuits his jobs. We are privileged to several tense moments rolling the story forward. Enright continues to develop his teams characters into a rememberable ensemble. Limited vulgarity. Quick read. Looking forward to more of the SCU squad.
I really enjoyed the story and have pre ordered book 3 in this series. However, only 3 stars because proof reading/editing is appalling. Wrong names are used and sentences don’t make sense. Many a time I had to re read for sense and to work out what names should have been used rather than those printed. This became quite annoying and spoilt the flow of the story.
The reading for me was spoilt with the many poor grammatical errors.
I am reading the Kindle version if that is relevant.
On a number of times there was a double use of the same Pro-noun, within the same sentence. As if someone was transcribing the whole book manually and miss-typing.
Awesome read, couldn’t put it down! I was right there in the office, car and every meeting with the team!! I can’t wait to experience Townsend next case(s)! Thank you Rob!!!
This second book didn’t disappoint at all and there’s another great twist which I didn’t expect. DS Jack Townsend and team are like family and this comes across in each book.
Another Brilliant read from Robert Enright, fast pacemakers and turns at every level. Jack Townsend is my new favourite police character. Descriptive writing from start to finish can't wait for book 3.
Enjoyed the book but thinking the editing could have been better. A few errors - wrong name used at one point and use of language a little bit ‘obvious’ . Strange and does detract from the story a little
Enjoyed the development of the characters and the fact that it is set 'locally' makes it far more relatable for me. A much better storyline with a palpable tension of divided loyalties. Looking forward to the next one😀
Good story, spoilt by spelling mistakes, “her” instead of “him” Hannon’s title fluctuating between “DS” & “DC”. Whoever was the proofreader needs to go to Speak savers!
Excellent series, now onto book 3. Highly recommend. One gripe - the word decimate. It is often used incorrectly as if something is destroyed but the real meaning is to reduce by one in ten. Think decimal, decade.
Another chase the killers for Jack Townsend. These are a thoroughly enjoyable read , the development of the characters in this second book is very satisfying. Looking forward the reading the third shortly. Definitely a recommendation for great story and police procedural.
Enjoyed the story line but I've never read a book with so many tips, grammatical does, misplaced words, which is very irritating and let's the book down. Proof reading desperately required please
Good story but far too many spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and duplications/wrong names! It just spoilt the whole reading experience. Such a shame! I’ve never read a book with as many errors in it.
