I'm ruthless. My hands are stained with blood. And I'll cut my way through anyone threatening her to keep her safe...and to make her ours.
I’m the leader of the most dangerous gang in Orlando. I’ve learned to be vicious and violent to survive. Now someone is trying to frame the Mercy Drive Blades for senseless murders we’re not responsible for and she's become our only hope.
Sofia. The insatiable journalist investigating the most dangerous serial killer in the state.
When she’s left in the storage room in our club, bruised and beaten, I know I can’t let her leave.
Even if she wants to.
Whether she likes it or not, she needs our protection.
But she’s supposed to just be a means to an end, a tool to ensure that my men and I are protected--to exonerate us, no matter how guilty we are.
I have no right to want her, not after everything I’ve done to her. By trying to keep her alive, I might be snuffing out that very thing she most desires; her freedom.
I don’t just need to protect her.
I need to make her mine.
For good.

Journalist to solve the problem since the police won’t. Slow burn with mafia trope? Ahhh Sofia and Teo?! Heck YES I have received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Not a fan. I very rarely feel like reading a book is a waste of my time. But this one definitely was. My biggest dislikes were that the writing seemed disjointed and the relationship between the FMC and MMC didn’t seem even remotely plausible. But I have plenty more dislikes after that. We’re supposed to believe that Teo is the leader of this big, scary gang and he CAN’T STAND THE SIGHT OF BLOOD? And what’s more, all his inner circle know about it support him? I mean, cool they support him, but there’s no way he could lead a gang without being cool around blood. It was just a weird twist to add. I felt like it was super obvious that Archer was the Orchid Strangler as well once we met him, even if the author tries to throw you off by suggesting it might be Sam. There wasn’t really anyone else it could have been and while I like to guess that kind of thing ahead of time, when it’s too obvious it’s no fun as the reader. Last dislike, promise! The book is advertised as being reverse harem with a MM relationship as well. And while the reverse harem part probably comes into play in later books in the series (I’ll never know since I’m not reading any more of this garbage), the weird threesome that was thrown in at the very last second, was just that … weird AF. Wasn’t organic or believable in the least and making the two guys kiss was stupid. Go on a walk or something instead of reading this book. Organize your spices. Anything would be better than wasting a day reading this book.

Eh, it was okay? I guess the rh happens in later books? Which is lame. Don’t advertise it like that then. Also the mmc of this book was unrealistic and very controlling. Also I think each guy is going to get their own book which I hate. So we will see if I read book two
Riveting, slow burn GOLD with a fabulous plot! Amazing!!
Overall: 5 of 5 stars Performance: 5 of 5 stars Story: 5 of 5 stars Reviewed: 03-19-24
Sophia Reyes, investigative journalist, she’s convinced a spate of local disappearances and homicides are the work of a serial offender … one she’s dubbed the “Orchid Strangler”. The authorities don’t take her seriously… but someone does … and that someone is determined that Sophia’s story will never see the light of day … Mercy Drive Blades, ruthless and violent, there’re the most dangerous gang in the city … and they’re being set up to take the fall for the crimes Sophia is investigating… Holy Hawt Dayum, “Quiet” is BRILLIANT, riveting, slow burn gold! I was mesmerized by the smooth flow and perfect pacing of this story! I loved the ambiance, the dark foreboding FEEL of this story! The plot is RIVETING, with mystery, suspense, action, and tension boxes ALL checked! I’ll not be giving plot details to avoid playing spoiler, but know it’s ALL here, and it’s ALL fantastic! The perfectly written heat starts off as an almost innocent attraction, and then begins to build naturally until it erupts magnificently into “give me a bucket of ice NOW please” perfection! The characters are fabulously different! Fully developed, diverse and detailed with complete backstories, I loved almost every one! The ones I wanted to put in a deep freeze truly deserved the honor, trust me 😂! My attention was held from the first marvelously narrated words to the last! And I truly mean marvelously narrated! The author’s vision was beautifully brought to life by clear, emotive, perfectly timed, perfectly paced narration! I absolutely loved everything about “Quiet”. Five brilliant stars!
An enjoyable book and my first from Clarissa Bright. I listened to the audiobook of this story which was narrated by Michael Knight,he is also a new narrator to me.I was really impressed by Michael and his voice skills portraying both the male and female characters Teo and Sofia.I enjoyed listening to his performance and will definately listen to more of his narrations. This is a romantic thriller if you like serial killers with your romance then this is the book for you. Sofia is a journalist who is secretly investigating the Orchid strangler,a serial killer on the loose and who is getting more riskier. But in her pursuit of the killer she is putting herself in danger becoming a target for the killer. Teo is the leader of a gang in the city and he is pissed off because his gang are being blamed for the murders that are going on,as the bodies are always discovered close by to their compound. When Sofia is found on gang property and Teo finds out who she is they decide to come together to find who the serial killer is...But in doing so an attraction between them grows and soon they become more than what they expected. Sofia is being protected by Teo and the whole of his gang who seem to ALL be attracted to Sofia..This is the start of a series so I believe as the books progress Sofia will have a very steamy relationship with not only Teo but members of the gang too. I did enjoy this story, there is plenty of steam and action to keep you entertained. Clarissa's writing was very interesting and riveting I will certainly want to listen to book 2 as I am intrigued what will happen next. Great listen. 41/2 stars.
Our FMC Sophia is a journalist trying to break into better stories by hunting down a possible serial killer in her area. She’s digging into the case because the police don’t seem too interested. Her world flips upside down when she gets too close.
Teo, the MMC in this book is a gang leader of the Mercy Blades. He is NOT a fan of blood at all. The serial killer in their area is targeting the gang by posing the bodies on their property. His world is flipped upside down when a possible clue is dropped in their storage room.
I listened to the audio of this book and enjoyed it. It would have been MUCH BETTER with a female/male narrator for each part. I don’t really enjoy when one person does both roles. It’s very confusing at times. I’ve seen this marketed as a RH but wouldn’t qualify this book as that, so I’m assuming the RH happens throughout the series. This book ends in a cliffhanger.
I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I knew there were 4 guys at the beginning, but as time went on, I kept wondering if this was really a RH book or not. As a book by itself, it 100% is not RH. She is only with Teo in this book, with Grayson thrown in a tiny bit in the last few pages.
I find it hard to believe this big gang leader faints at the sight of blood. How on earth would he have become leader? Seems iffy.
I totally knew who the killer was as soon as he was introduced. Even when they suspected Dam, I knew who did it. It was not a surprise at all. Probably because literally nobody else was introduced in this book at all. The only person we meet that we knoelw their name, yep it is them.
Nothing really happens in this book. I didn't feel any threat from the guys at all, so I didn't fully understand why she was so scared of them.
I will keep going, in hopes we get more background, more connections.
4 Star Review Quiet (The Mercy Blades #1) by Clarissa Bright
Audio:
Both the author Clarissa Bright and narrator Michael Knight are new to me. Mafia/Gang or RH (although I didn’t see it in this book really) are not genres I normally read, but here we go. What I wasn’t prepared for was that this book ends in a cliffhanger, so you have been warned.
This is a gripping, raw and dark book about Mateo (Teo), the leader of the Mercy Drive Blades, a man who is easy to be wary of. Sofia is a journalist and a woman determined to investigate a violent and dangerous serial killer. When Sofia is attacked, Teo has no choice but to protect her, no matter the cost.
The chemistry between them is crazy and impossible to ignore. The twists and turns added additional layers and the suspense element of the story was intriguing.
***AUDIOBOOK REVIEW*** Name: Quiet (The Mercy Blades Series) Author: Clarissa Bright Narrated by: Michael Knight Rate: 4.5 🌟
~So I listened to this audiobook at 2x speed and the person who narrated this story was Michael Knight and I believe it was my first time listening to this narrator. Now the story itself was not bad. I did enjoy listening to Quiet by Clarissa Bright. So we have Sofia who is a Journalist that was obsessed with writing the story of the “orchid strangler”. During her investigation she was threatened and then almost left for dead!!! Lucky for her she was found by Teo… Now Teo is this hot, attractive man, but the only downfall is that this man here is scared of blood!!! Yes, that’s when I was like okay!!! Big Mafia man scared of blood… that was just a buzz kill for me when I listened to this book… But other than that it was very enjoyable to listen…
Our FMC Sophia is a journalist trying to break into better stories by hunting down a possible serial killer in her area. The police don’t seem to be digging as far as they could. Her world flips upside down when she gets to close.
Teo, the MMC in this book is a gang leader that can’t stand blood. The serial killer in their area is targeting the gang by posing the bodies on their property. His world is flipped upside down when a possible clue is dropped in their storage room.
I listened to the audio of this book and enjoyed it. I am an easy to please reader if you keep me hooked and have a decent plot I’m in. I’ve seen this marketed as a RH but wouldn’t qualify this book as that, I’m assuming we get more as the series continues. There was one scene w/ 2 of the male leads and the FMC at the end of the book, but definitely not quite a RH or why choose in my opinion.
Okay so this is completely different than other series she writes. Honestly it caught my attention and kept me intrigued throughout the whole story. It's about a reporter name Sofia, a strangler serial killer, and Mafia people. It's a very interesting story and it keeps you very intrigued throughout the whole thing. I won't say much about it because I don't want to ruin the suspense of it. But the where the storyline is, you just want to know what's going to happen. Like I always question why was he doing this even though you do get the serial killer's POV, which is super interesting because you get to see what he's thinking of. All in all this is a really good series right now, I'm starting book two and I'm going to see how the rest goes. Because if there's a book too and what happened at the end, what is going on?
I truly don't even know where to start with this one. It was definitely a slow burn in the first half, but that second half though?! I LOVE the chemistry between Sof and Mateo. Who would have thought that reporters and the mafia could have such a working relationship. There wasn't a *lot* of spice, but when there was? 🥵🥵 It was suspenseful and the little bits of 3rd POV was icing on the cake! Once I finally got to sit down and read, I devoured the book in one sitting, between rooting for the 🌶 and trying to figure out who the 🔪 was, you will completely loose track of time turning the pages.
THE CLIFFHANGER. We need the second book STAT because I am READY.
I would’ve loved this so much more if the audio was better. I loved the story, but the narration was lacking.
I never speed up audiobooks, but I had to listen to this on 1.5x speed to hold my attention. There were also several spots in the audio that “skipped” a few words, but I didn’t notice it as much when I sped up pace. It would have taken me one day to physically read this, but the audio took way longer because I couldn’t find the sweet spot till about 50-60% in.
With that being said, I thought the story line was great! And the spicy ending 🥵 and the cliffhanger 😭 I figured out the killer before the end of the book BUT there’s obviously more to it the way it ended! I’ll be looking forward to the second book 🥰
Dark mafia romance reverse harem audio. This story had a serial killer mystery story . It grabbed me from the first page . Clarrisa the author wrote a very interesting written story . The story was written with a great amount of detail and description . Love Sofia the heroine works for a newspaper. She knows there is a story behind the killing.
Teo the heroine, one of the men that is interested in Sofia is a very strong man and not afraid to take action and not afraid to show how he feels.
The murderer is called the orchard killer , Sofia is the one that gave him that name. Grab it and see does the killer has his or her sites on Sofia . Is the killer a man or a woman. How does the mafia tie into the serial killer plan
Sophia is a journalist who is trying to get better stories. There is a serial killer in the area and seems like she is in their crosshairs now. When Sophia is placed in the basement of a local gang leaders (Teo) club, it looks like the serial killer is trying to frame this gang. Teo falls for the sassy reporter, but not before he tells her that she is basically a prisoner and will be under the watchful eyes of him and his friends.
You have corruption, a few twists, mystery and a cliffhanger. Looking forward to seeing what happens next in this series.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wow! This book was something else, Teo and Grayson damn they are some incredible men🔥 Sofia is one lucky girl!👀😅
I really enjoyed this book, it was such a quick easy read and I loved the whole mafia/crime/dark romance vibe going on, it was so different to what I normally read but I loved it!🫶🏼
That ending though as well!!! I hope there’s a book 2 cause I need to know what’s happened!🫢
Thank you so much Clarissa for providing me with this ARC to read, I really enjoyed it and I highly recommend this book to others!😁
**audiobook review** This book was good. michael knight nailed the characters and did an exceptional job. I wouldnt say this specific book is RH but I can see where the series all together could be. The story line was unique and really good. Journalist and mafia/crime teaming up is not something you see often so I enjoyed that aspect. Overall it was a pretty good story. Leaves you on a semi- cliffhanger but it is a good ending for the book to sort of be standalone but also leaves it open for the next book..
First and foremost that cliffy at the end?!? What, that's it?!?!
But seriously I really really liked this book. It was like a mafia murder mystery. I especially liked the chapters from the killer's point of view. I like that the reader gets insight the main cast doesn't.
That end though. It was all wrapped up nicely until the very last sentence. I'm really hoping the next book comes quick. I can hardly wait!
Sofia, a journalist, takes it into her own hands to find a serial killer and ends up in the company of a dangerous group. The heat between Sofia and Teo is off the charts & is a little touch and go. I love that you find yourself hoping it goes further while reading. I am a sucker for characters finding their match and having so much chemistry. Teo ends up showing his true intentions and how much he cares about Sofia when he literally takes a bullet and faces his fear of blood to protect her. The fear of blood was a nice twist to the assumption that all “bosses” are cold blooded and don’t mind the gory parts of their work.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Finally a book that combines a murder /serial plot and a reverse harem without making the FMC a damaged person that is scared of her own shadow. Can't wait for the next book to see how the rest of the guys get worked into the harem, and to find out what happened to the missing
This audiobook has it all. Narration is superb. A thats voice clear and sexy in audio. The suspense that develops builds leaving you wondering who will live and who will die. Will it be Sofia who was kidnapped by a ruthless gang? Or will it be the serial killer who wants her dead? Or maybe anyone who is connected to Sofia. Listen to or read this exciting first book. You will want more.
4/5 stars, 3/5 spice. This book is a combination of romance, thriller and suspense. So if you’re looking for a mix, this is for you! I enjoyed the suspense just as much as the slow burn romance. Good listen! Can’t wait for the next in the series.
Quick mystery/romance read. I enjoyed the plot and Tao's character. He has a bad boy persona, but you get to see his soft side too. The last chapter was a bit much for me and just unnecessary. It didn't fit with the story at all.
If you are looking for a good thriller you will be disappointed. If you are looking for smut there is two or three good ones, you will be disappointed. Didn’t rate 1 star because it was a quick read. & the ending left me intrigued to read the second book.
Sophia is a journalist trying to write a story about a serial killer. She gets too close to finding the killer so he abducts her and leaves her with a mafia boss. Teo is suspicious of her at first, then he decides to protect her.
Holy crap this book was hot and had an amazing plot and storyline and I liked how the chapters from the orchid stranglers perspective was written. That steamy end scene though HOLY CRAP!
This book is gripping. I couldn’t put it down. Michael gives a brilliant performance. The storyline is unpredictable so I was guessing most the way through. Written very well.
