“One must be careful practicing deception. The easiest to deceive will always be one’s self.”

Thrilling Fantasy with amazing writing

Always aprehensive with Fantasy books as sometimes they can become overwhelming and far too descriptive as the author tries to create the world and that can pull from the story.
However, Six Moons, Seven Gods was a great read. Immediatly youre pulled into the world. Robert A Walker gently builds the world while focusing on the story. You start by being pulles into the intricate policies of the world of Baelon and are drawn quickly into the plots and betrayals that follow.
Very well written and kept me engaged throughout, what seemed like a simple plot to make the civilians fall in line behind The Guild becomes unravelled. Secrets and clashes make this a compelling read and the characyers are well structured.
Would recommend to any fantasy fans, and even to rhose unsure of the genre.

Copied from my blog:

Six Moons Seven Gods started out sad and grim. I found it difficult to really immerse myself in this book for the first, I'd say about third, of the book. I am not entirely sure why. I think partly because it was quite grim with nothing to ease it up a little. This is not a bad thing at all, just not what I am accustomed to and probably not what I was in the mood for at the time. Don't let this discourage you from trying out the book!

After I got past the first few chapters I started to find myself more drawn into the story. I found characters that I wanted to know more about, a few threads of the tale that I wanted to follow, and found myself interested in how the author was going to weave all of the different pieces of this tale together.

There are many characters that I do not like and, I am almost positive, am not supposed to like. I found this fun because most authors seem to try to make every character in their book likeable in some way or to make the ones we don't like the enemy that we will see destroyed by the end. This is not the case in this book and that made me happy. Not everyone and everything needs to be liked to be enjoyed or to be an important element in a tale. I was happy to see that this author understands that.

The writing is good, descriptive without being flowery, and keeps the story moving at a good pace. The setting is easily understandable and the story itself isn't too difficult to grasp even though there are quite a few people involved. The most difficult part for me was remembering who everyone was and how they might relate to each other in the context of the story.

I think I would give this a 3 or a 3.5 star rating. It just didn't draw me in and keep me engaged enough to warrant a higher rating from me. Do not think this is a bad rating. It is not.

Was this my favorite fantasy novel of all times? No.

Did I enjoy it? Yes, for the most part.

Will I continue the series? Yes, most likely. I want to see what ends up happening in the future.

Would I recommend this book? Also yes.

Just don't go into this thinking it is some light YA type fantasy tale. It is not. There is a lot to do with politics and intrigue where deception and ambition play a huge role. There are quite a few characters who are all nicely filled out with obvious differences in speech and mannerisms, thoughts and feelings, and actions and reactions. I enjoyed the variety of characters in this book.

Six Moons, Seven Gods is a delightful tale filled with intrigue, adventure, and humor. Initially reminiscent of Pratchett’s Discworld, the author creates a fantasy world filled with knights and guards, benevolent kings and violent villains, fair maidens and brutish heroes. However, Walker creates his own unique world that stands on its own merits.

As the Guild of Takers secretly plots to overthrow the ruling monarchies, a former King’s Guardsman tracks the group of bandits who killed the beloved Princess Lewen. Meanwhile, Lewen’s best friend Sibil struggles to find her place in the world when her absentee mother exclaims the king’s life is in danger.

Six Moons, Seven Gods is a story of happy accidents and about being in the right place at the right, or sometimes wrong, time. Shared from multiple POVs, the reader witnesses several separate occurrences that culminate in an exciting adventure. The ensemble cast works well together as the author weaves each tale into a solid story that kept me glued to the pages.

At the center of the tale is Sibil, our not-so-fair maiden. She seeks justice and feels the call to avenge her friend. She’s headstrong and determined. At times she’s accompanied by Rolft, the perfect anti-hero who stops at nothing to honor his fallen Princess and Queen. And then there is my favorite, Marshal Erik Carson who takes in the full measure before acting. He seeks to understand the larger picture, and I appreciate his methodical ways. I would also be remiss not to mention the evil plotting and horribly violent bad guys who add incredible depth to the story.

Six Moons, Seven Gods takes its time spinning threads which are expertly woven together throughout the book. I highly enjoyed the story, and the epilogue left me excited for the next adventure in the The Legends of Baelon series.

My Rating: A-

I love reading a good fantasy and "Six Moons, Seven Gods" was no exception. Robert A. Walker immerses us into a world away from what we know as we encounter impeccable world-building, well-wrought characters, and vivid imagery, all blending in perfectly; the result being an amazing story that will tug at your heartstrings.
Here, skilled thieves from the Takers Guild conspire to overthrow the kingdoms but the story takes an unexpected turn when a psychic woman and her mysterious daughter seem to halt their plans setting off unlikely events that readers will not see coming. Walker writes beautifully and his evocative wordplay bears a significant role in keeping his audience immersed in the story. The story kicks off with a beguiling start and hurtles along at an even pace as it builds to a crescendo. Altogether, "Six Moons, Seven Gods" is bound to excite every fantasy enthusiast out there. Simply put, it's an intelligently written novel.

What if Power Were a Commodity? A Study in Shadows, Strategy, and Survival

Robert A. Walker’s Six Moons, Seven Gods offers more than a mere fantasy epic. It’s a labyrinth of political intrigue, moral ambiguity, and societal hierarchies that mirror real-world struggles for dominance. By looking into the overlooked aspects of Walker’s storytelling—such as the subtle mechanics of power, the allegory of Baelon’s moons, and the dynamics of The Guild of Takers—this review aims to uncover what lies beneath the surface of this rich narrative.

The Moon as a Metaphor for Power Cycles

The titular six moons of Baelon are more than celestial bodies; they symbolize the ever-shifting balance of power among kingdoms, guilds, and individuals. Historically, moons have served as metaphors in literature, from Shakespeare’s “madman, lover, and poet” association with the moon to modern sci-fi depictions of colonized satellites. In Walker’s world, the seventh moon’s absence looms as a metaphor for unattainable unity or control—an ideal every faction yearns for but can never fully achieve.

Does the waxing and waning of Baelon’s moons reflect the rise and fall of power itself? Walker doesn’t say it outright, but astute readers will notice how each faction’s dominance mirrors the celestial phases, inviting parallels to historical power struggles like those of the Roman Empire or Cold War superpowers.

The Guild of Takers: A Masterclass in Bureaucratic Villainy

While fantasy villains often wear their motives like badges, Walker’s Guild of Takers operates with chilling subtlety. This clandestine organization thrives on the “art of taking,” a skill so complex it’s treated as both a science and a philosophy. Their motto, “In a world of give and take, we do our part,” is as cynical as it is pragmatic.

Interestingly, studies in organizational behavior show that hierarchical systems like The Guild succeed by fostering competition under the guise of collaboration. Walker’s depiction resonates with modern institutions where power dynamics are hidden behind corporate or political facades. Consider this: how many real-world guilds operate in plain sight, shaping policies and economies without the public’s knowledge?

The Magister and His Masks: Leadership and the Cost of Secrecy

The Magister, the Guild’s enigmatic leader, spends much of the novel cloaked and masked, his true identity as elusive as the Guild’s ultimate purpose. Masks in literature often signify duality or deception, from the Phantom of the Opera to the carnival masks of Venice. Here, the Magister’s shrouded presence serves as an allegory for the opacity of absolute power.

A 2020 survey on leadership perception revealed that people are more likely to trust leaders who maintain transparency. Walker flips this notion, making the Magister’s inscrutability his greatest strength. What does this say about our own tolerance for opaque governance?

A Game of Shadows and Light

Walker’s world-building thrives on the interplay of shadow and light—not just in setting but in morality. The Guild operates in literal and metaphorical darkness, while the kingdoms of Baelon bask in the sunlight of traditional rule. Yet, Walker challenges readers to question: is the light always righteous, and is the dark inherently evil?

This tension is personified in characters like Ruler Two, who proposes overthrowing the monarchs not for chaos but for a calculated shift to self-governance. His plan highlights the paradox of moral ambition: can an act of rebellion lead to stability, or does it merely swap one tyranny for another?

A Reader’s Responsibility: Understanding Power Systems

Walker’s narrative compels readers to consider their roles in systems of power. If the people of Baelon unwittingly enable The Guild’s influence, how often do we do the same in our world? Studies in consumer behavior show that passive participation often reinforces systemic inequalities—a theme subtly echoed throughout the novel.

Closing Reflection: What Is Power Without Perspective?

Six Moons, Seven Gods isn’t just a tale of fantasy—it’s a mirror held up to human ambition and the structures we create to wield or survive power. Walker dares readers to ask themselves: in a world where even gods are subject to political schemes, how much control do we really have over our own fate?

“Six Moons, Seven Gods,” the inaugural entry in The Legends of Baelon series by Robert A. Walker, plunges readers into a realm where the distinction between ally and adversary is as elusive as the shadows in Fostead’s south end. This novel is a masterclass in medieval fantasy, blending deception, loyalty, and ambition into a narrative that captivates and enthralls from the very first page. At the heart of Walker’s tale are the skilled operatives of the Takers Guild, whose designs to usurp the thrones of Baelon are upended by a prescient woman and her enigmatic daughter. The narrative gains depth with the inclusion of Rolft Aerns, a retired royal guard drawn back to King Axil’s palace by unresolved vendettas, adding layers of complexity to an already intricate plot. As these characters’ paths intersect, Walker skillfully navigates the reader through a labyrinth of intrigue, where every encounter could be a deadly dance.

The character development in “Six Moons, Seven Gods” is nothing short of brilliant. Walker’s protagonists, from the reflective daughter to the battle-hardened Rolft Aerns, are meticulously crafted, with their personal sagas mirroring the overarching themes of power struggle and redemption. It is through these well-drawn characters that the novel resonates so deeply, allowing readers to see reflections of their own trials and triumphs amid the epic backdrop of Baelon’s political chessboard.

Walker’s prowess in world-building is equally commendable. The author conjures the world of Baelon with such vivid detail that readers can almost hear the clamor of Fostead’s streets and feel the oppressive atmosphere of King Axil’s court. This immersive experience is facilitated by a narrative that weaves through multiple perspectives with remarkable clarity and suspense, making each chapter a revelation in its own right.

Admittedly, the novel’s ambitious scope does occasionally lead to a crowded stage of characters and a narrative pace that sometimes meanders through its own complexity. Yet, these moments are minor quibbles in an otherwise mesmerizing journey through the dark alleys and grandiose halls of Baelon.

For aficionados of the fantasy genre, “Six Moons, Seven Gods” is a treasure trove of intrigue, betrayal, and unforeseen alliances, wrapped in a narrative that questions the very nature of truth and the costs of ambition. While not all mysteries are resolved by the novel’s end, the anticipation of further revelations in subsequent installments adds an enticing layer of promise to an already compelling tale.

In summary, Robert A. Walker’s “Six Moons, Seven Gods” is a formidable foray into the realm of fantasy, offering a richly textured world that is as beguiling as it is dangerous. It stands as a powerful reminder of the genre’s capacity to explore the depths of human nature against the backdrop of an intricately imagined universe.

Six Moons, Seven Gods by Robert Walker takes place in three main locations, though the novel largely centres itself in the village of Forestead. The story is a bit of a slow burn and takes its time for all the various point of views and plotlines to coalesce into the climax. Personally, I appreciate that, and given the complex narrative, I don’t think it could work any other way. We absolutely need the extra time for the developments to seem natural – and for the characters to chew the screen.

And speaking of those characters, Walker does a nice job here, investing extra time into making even the tertiary seem realistic. Which is great, because there are a lot of them. Of these the two primary antagonists, at least in terms of screen time, Reynard and Spiro have the most satisfying development. Their friendship, and the devious nature of their interactions, almost had me rooting for the villains at times. Luckily, Rolf and Fereliss are still worthwhile contrasts, so as the story does not feel one sided.

In a sort of Tolkieneque move, the setting itself has a lot of characterisation. Even though the imagery, and the writing favours succinct and effective over flowery, when Walker really wants to set a mood, he can bring a deft and glorious hand with his prose. Dark alleys can feel menacing. A drip of rain, miserable. And a tavern? Deceptively safe. It is a solid lynchpin to his writing style, helping keep the story grounded and believable.

However, like a double-edged sword, having a plethora of characters can lead to other problems. Namely, point of view exhaustion, and Six Moons Seven Gods, isn’t immune to this. Thankfully Walker begins each chapter with the name of the POV character. Yet, even so, I found myself lost at times, and/or jarred out of my immersion. This would have to be the one major negative.

Another issue is, again, due to the necessity of this being on the longer side of novels, the plot becomes a little bit frayed towards the end. Most novels tend to lull in the middle, and Six Moons Seven Gods hits this mark right towards the last third. Walker does however weave things back together quickly enough not to detract majorly. This is of course a difficult thing to balance, something even famous writers struggle with (Robert Jordan and your endless descriptions, I am looking at you).

Six Moons Seven Gods sums up to be a rare piece – a solid slow burn fantasy novel, in a world of fast pace/quick resolution narratives. I for one and more than thankful for the opportunity to have read Robert Walkers’s introduction to the world of Baelon. I fully believe, given enough time, readers of all ages will have equal praise.

“Six Moons, Seven Gods: The Legends of Baelon” is a captivating fantasy novel that transports readers to a richly imagined world filled with magic, intrigue, and epic battles. Walker’s prose is lyrical and evocative, painting vivid landscapes and complex characters that linger in the mind long after the last page.
The land of Baelon is a tapestry woven with ancient prophecies, mystical creatures, and warring factions. Walker’s descriptive prose paints a vivid picture of this world, from the towering spires of the capital city to the hidden groves where forgotten magic lingers.
The novel weaves a web of political intrigue, betrayals, and hidden agendas. Readers will be kept guessing as alliances shift and revelations unfold. Walker choreographs epic clashes—sword against sorcery, armies clashing on blood-soaked fields. The stakes are high, and the visceral descriptions pull readers into the heart of battle.
Complexity of characters and plot: If you are expecting this to be a linear story, know that no good fantasy novel ever works that way. The novel introduces a vast array of characters, however, they are not just present as sidekicks to the protagonist. In fact, each of them are the protagonist of their own story. This aspect of the book could be compared to Game of Thrones. While sometimes a reader might struggle to keep track, it just added to the complexity of the story and the intricate web of relationships added depth to the plot.
I liked Sibil and Mari’s character, but when you’re reading the list of favorites keeps shifting as the plot unfolds. What sets this book apart is its exploration of themes like destiny, sacrifice, and the blurred lines between good and evil.
The writing is polished, elevating the medieval setting. The prologue’s intrigue sets the stage for a layered narrative. Walker skillfully shifts viewpoints, allowing readers to witness events through various eyes. Assassins’ motivations and secrets unfold alongside those of the central characters. The novel captures the ripple effects of events and it makes Baelon feels real—a place where lives intersect, and consequences reverberate.
I personally find novels with complex politics to be more engaging as it leaves a deeper impact once you have finished reading the book. It is always a delight when the plot points connect and the story finally unfolds before your eyes. The more complex the story, the better the payoff at the end. That is why I loved reading this book so much. For me it felt like on a spectrum of Outlander and Game of Thrones, it would lie somewhere in the middle. Highly recommend!

Six Moons, Seven Gods was a great read. The prologue really hooked me into it and I was instantly in it. That was so, I read this book in joust a couple days. The world of Baelon is complex and rich.

A lot of things happen and the fact that the book follows the story of not one but a few characters creates something that kept me entertained all the time

The author did a really great job with the character building. I found myself disliking a lot some of the main characters and I honestly think is something that was made in purpose. I really love this feeling on disliking a character and wanting to know more about them at the same time.

It was all so thrilling. Sometimes, a bit too much. I missed some pause at times, just to recap a bit or get some more description about the world and the setting. No matter that, it was not hard to follow.

In this book you'l find political intrigues, murder, battles and some really interesting characters. It was a really enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to keep reading the series.

I received a review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

In Robert A. Walker’s Six Moons, Seven Gods, loyalty and treachery entwine, friendships are tested, and dangerous secrets are held close to the heart. As deadly schemes unfold, an assassin’s life takes unexpected turns. At the same time, old acquaintances are revived from oblivion, and cryptic messages are delivered in this powerful plot that’s filled with many uncertainties. Additionally, rumors of murder spread about the land and threaten all who dwell within its borders. In this mystical world, chaos is propagated by the one sworn to the people, a daring assassination is set in motion, and the fate of a powerful captive is left yet to be decided. Six Moons, Seven Gods is a political tale that involves an intriguing mix of characters, including lovers, assassins, rulers, thieves, and a dreamer.

Robert A. Walker weaves themes of action, power, friendship, and love to create a brilliant, compelling narrative that hooks the reader from start to finish. I found myself turning the pages quickly as I couldn’t wait to unravel the next part of the plot. I especially enjoyed the author’s depiction of caramadie and friendship, as the characters are seen joking and teasing one another with statements like “You couldn’t rob a blind man if he left his doors unlocked.” Furthermore, the vivid descriptions make it a joy to picture the characters. For example, one character is described as having “chiseled facial features, skin browned by the sun, and thick crown of black curly hair.”

Six Moons, Seven Gods is told through multiple perspectives and involves various characters from different walks of life. I especially like Mari, as she blacks out and has visions that make her seem mysterious and intriguing. This is also the first book in the Legends of Baelon series, so keep in mind that this novel is setting up the whole series.

Fans of books set in a medieval, magical world will be captivated by this book. Amidst assassination plots and arrow attacks, visionary characters and mystical incidents leave you with suspense and deep questions that keep you turning the pages for more. Readers will find themselves laughing, their hearts racing, and their minds engaged with its intricate plot.

“Six Moons, Seven Gods: The Legends of Baelon” by Robert A. Walker introduces the King of Baelon and his people as they are grieving the loss of the kingdom’s beloved queen and princess. The king’s architect is gone as well, but his wife and his daughter Sibil are still alive. And with assassins on the loose, murderous plots against the king, and a rapist in the castle, the king and his loyal subjects have their hands full. As Sibil’s mother begins to reveal strange visions she has been getting, Sibil realizes she herself has some part to play in all of this. She takes on knight-like training like her twin best friends, Theos and Tristan, and seeks to discover the truth about what’s going on in the kingdom.

This sword & sorcery fantasy is well-written, and unlike much of its peer medieval fiction, it seems very refined. The prologue is compelling and a great opener to the story, inciting intrigue from the very start. Each chapter starts with a quote from a character or an organization in the book. These are clever little hints as to what the people and organizations are like.

The novel is not so much about certain protagonists, as there are many, but is more about Baelon as a whole. There is a lot going on, and it is told masterfully. It consistently jumps from different characters’ perspectives, including those of the assassins. It is a story that shows the effects of events on everyone, rather than on just central characters. This gives it a lived-in feel as if the events really happened and the characters are real. The time period is not specified, but it feels as though it is medieval, and it is not heavy on fantasy, as there are only a few whimsical elements. Everything comes together slowly, but with a complex plot and sizeable cast, it’s a valued necessity.

Author Robert A. Walker has a certain charm about his writing in “Six Moons, Seven Gods.” He throws a lure, and the reader takes it, slowly getting pulled out of their own reality and into that of the story. Overall, with heaps of interesting characters, good writing, and an excitingly winding plot, anyone who likes medieval fiction would find this book highly interesting.

Six Moons, Seven Gods is a fantastic first chapter and an excellent introduction to the acclaimed fantasy series The Legends of Baelon by multi-award-winning author – and in this case, also extremely talented narrator – Robert A. Walker. The series is already gaining recognition and a lot of awards from literary professionals in the fantasy world, but I know we audiobook listeners experience things differently, so this review is for those curious about how the audiobook version presents itself.

Without giving too much away, I can say that the story is very well written, follows multiple characters, and is set in the kingdoms of Baelon. From thieves to kings, from secret guilds to assassins, everyone has a role to play in this captivating adventure filled with mystery, intrigue, and secrets.

I had a great time listening to this audiobook, and I am eagerly awaiting the release of Two Crowns, Three Blades, Book 2 in The Legends of Baelon series. Six Moons, Seven Gods is extremely entertaining and immersive as an audiobook because Mr. Walker is not only a terrific author but also a very good narrator. He reads in a pleasant and engaging way, bringing the story to life and assigning distinct voices to each of the main characters, which makes dialogues flow naturally and adds depth to their personalities.

I always find it fascinating to hear authors narrate their own books, as they have an intimate understanding of their characters and world. In this case, things worked out more than satisfying, as Mr. Walker’s performance enhances the story rather than just delivering it.

The audio quality is solid, with clear and well-balanced sound. While there are a few small background noises here and there, they are minimal and do not detract from the experience in any way.

It is always nice to find new fantasy audiobooks, but it is rare to discover ones that are as good and as original as this one. This is not just a good audiobook but a great one, sure to delight and please fantasy fans around the world. I truly hope this series will continue to entertain us for many years to come.

"SIX MOONS, SEVEN GODS: The Legends of Baelon Book 1" by Robert A. Walker presents readers with a captivating introduction to the kingdom of Baelon, where intrigue, power struggles, and the ever-present shadow of the Guild of Thieves set the stage for an epic fantasy tale.

One of the strengths of this book lies in the skillful world-building. Walker creates a vivid and immersive medieval fantasy setting that instantly draws readers into the complex and dynamic world of Baelon. The detailed descriptions of settings, from grand palaces to humble stables, add depth and richness to the story.

The book boasts an array of diverse characters, from royalty to common folk, each with their unique personalities and roles in the unfolding narrative. The characters' depth and variety provide a well-rounded and engaging ensemble. The plot is filled with political intrigue, secrets, and the clash of competing forces, making for a thrilling and engaging read. The author expertly combines elements of magic and brutality that add layers to the story, making it a multifaceted fantasy novel.

While the book's world-building and character development are notable strengths, the plot's pacing may require patience from some readers. Every once in a while, a fantasy novel comes along that reminds me why I love the genre. Six Moons, Seven Gods is that book. Robert A. Walker delivers a masterfully woven tale filled with deception, shifting alliances, and a dark, immersive world that immediately pulled me in. With an intricate plot that unfolds like a dangerous game of chess, this book is a perfect blend of intrigue, adventure, and richly developed characters.

From the moment we’re introduced to the Takers Guild and their sinister plans, I knew I was in for a ride. The story quickly escalates, intertwining the fates of thieves, assassins, warriors, and rulers in ways that are unexpected yet brilliantly executed. The prescient woman and her enigmatic daughter add an element of mysticism that keeps the narrative layered and engaging. And then there’s Rolft Aerns—his return to the palace with a personal vendetta is one of my favorite character arcs in the book. His internal struggles and battle-worn wisdom give the story an emotional weight that balances out the high-stakes action.

What truly stands out is Walker’s ability to craft tension. The world of Baelon is brimming with corruption, power struggles, and secrets hidden away in every shadow. The pacing is tight, the fight sequences are cinematic, and the dialogue is sharp. There’s an almost poetic quality to the prose, making every scene feel immersive. The political machinations, the cunning moves of the Guild, and the betrayals that follow are a testament to how well the story is structured.

If there’s one thing I love, it’s a fantasy novel that respects its reader’s intelligence, one that doesn’t spoon-feed but instead trusts you to piece together the complicated world the author has presented. Six Moons, Seven Gods does exactly that. It’s clever, gripping, and utterly absorbing. By the time I turned the last page, I was already eager for the next installment. If you love fantasy with high-stakes storytelling, morally complex characters, and a world that feels alive, this is a must-read!

I have been reading two Fantasy novels this past week, and boy, they couldn't be more different from each other... It's Iron Flame, and This one Six Moons, Seven Gods.
The reason why I brought this little tidbit of information up is not to say one is better than the other but to remark on how we, as readers, can enjoy many different nuances within the same genre... A more simple approach like with Iron Flame and An in-depth, immersive fantasy ride like with Six Moons, Seven Gods.
I love the worldbuilding within this book... I felt like a time-travel tourist visiting my dream medieval fantasy. And let me tell you that oftentimes descriptions of places and settings are overlooked or just glossed over. And they add so much character and feel to the story. A connection the reader needs to feel right there in the thick of things...
And they are thick, The plot is filled with political intrigue (which is completely my jam when it comes to this type of Fantasy tale), Magic, Power Struggles, and complex politics... It will grab your attention, and you will need it to because it's elaborate and intricate. You can miss a single detail, but it will be so very worth what little effort you have to make.
The Characters are so varied and not just there to fill space... They have their distinctive personalities that carry out their voices in a perfect blend. You won't get confused even with so many of them and will feel connected to all, to their friendship, their banter, their relationships I found that a truly amazing feat.
This is a great first book to set the tone for what I'm sure will be a captivating series with all any fantasy lover wants. I'll be on the lookout for the next installment, and if you like intricate storylines with deep-rooted world-building and relatable and diverse characters, definitely take a chance on this one.

✨BOOK TOUR✨
“At least you know the difference between gaff and gaffe, eh? That’s something! My advice? Avoid them both. You’ll live longer.”

📖: Six Moons Seven Gods
🖋️: Robert A. Walker
⭐️: 4 of 5

What a way to start a book! The prologue was so intense.🔥🔥

I will admit, I struggle a little to get past the world building in every book but once that was over and the different POVs started.

I couldn’t put the book down!

Let’s get into it

Thieves, premonitions, and assassins. Oh my!🤯

“When you shortchange me, Kasparr, you shortchange the entire guild!”

While Raynard is not a person you want to mess with. The thieves create a plan to attack the kingdoms.

Yet plans don’t always work out. Especially when Mari and her daughter come into play.

While they team up with the assassins, body’s keep dropping. Betrayals awaken.

Will Mari’s visions come true? Or can the kingdom’s be saved?

Find out in Six Moons and Seven Gods!

This book is beautifully written by Robert. The beginning captivated my attention. The world building with the rulers, did get a little slow for me but it picked right back up fast! Before I knew it, I was done with the book. I kept wanting to know what happens next.

Now, I need to read the rest of the series!🔥

Thank you Author Marketing Experts for allowing me to be a part of this tour. As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.

The Review

This was an engaging, powerful tale of fantasy-driven political thriller meets fantasy-driven mythos. The author's imagery and thick atmosphere throughout this novel were incredible, as they really brought the world of Baelon to life on the page and made the lands of this world feel vibrant and alive.

To me, the heart of this story was the incredible story and character development. The intrigue and drama that the author can develop in this novel capture the political intrigue of Game of Thrones but add even more fantasy elements that make the story feel original and unique. The characters were engaging, and each character, whether protagonist or antagonist, had a complex web of morality that kept them emotionally invested. The secrets each character held allowed the more redemptive arcs to feel engaging.

The Verdict

Remarkable, magical, and entertaining author Robert A. Walker’s “Six Moons, Seven Gods: The Legends of Baelon” is a must-read fantasy novel. The action, suspense, romance, and each twist and turn in the narrative are enough to keep the reader enthralled, and the richly developed world of Baelon will keep readers wanting more of this fantasy world.

This book has so much going on and happening in it. The author did a tremendous job with building the world of magic and wars going on. You can see the images of the writing in your head as you are reading, like a movie. The author tells us about many characters in this read overall. And like any good fantasy sometimes it is told through several POV from different characters. This book is like that, you get many characters telling their story and sometimes the same story in different perspectives.

The King of the land called Baelon, has just lost his wife(the queen) and their daughter(the princess). He is grieving for them in the beginning of the book. However the story reveals that that is not really true, Sibil and her mom are alive elsewhere. OOO, a mystery. I love to read about how it happened! Sibil has two friends too in this story who are trying to figure out what is going on in Baelon.

The story was well written and I am so glad to have read it and shared some of my thoughts with you. I highly recommend this book to all fantasy readers!

Thank you so much to the author and @therealbookgal for having me on this tour and sending me a physical copy of the book! This quick review is entirely my own thoughts and opinions!

SIX MOONS SEVEN GODS is an epic tale of friendship, love, and power with a wealth of incredibly well written characters, twisting plot turns, and absolute chaos. Mr. Walker’s prose is rich and lyrical. He masterfully brings Baelon to life on every page with incredible world building that is well thought out and full of history and forgotten magic.

This is the fantasy I LOVE. Intrigue, murder, epic fights, politics, deadly schemes, thieves and assassins. I’m absolutely invested in this series. It’s giving me the Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson Epic High Fantasy vibes I’ve been craving lately. Mr. Walker kept me turning pages until the very end and I cannot wait to jump back in when the sequel drops.

For all you epic fantasy addicts out there, this one is for you.

Walker has pulled off an epic fantasy, the likes of which I can’t say I’ve ever read. If you had told me that there could be this many POVs in a story, and it would be an amazing read, and not the least bit confusing, I wouldn’t have believed you. The story is tightly woven, and being able to see the story from various POV, some shorter than others, helps keep the story moving, and helps you understand everything that’s happening at once. The characters are as rich and varied as the world they inhabited, and the descriptions are so vivid you’re practically experiencing the story first hand. The plot itself captures you from page one, and makes it difficult to stop reading. There are so many different threads woven into this story, that it’s hard to say much without risking spoilers. I will say it has some Mistborn vibes, so if you enjoyed that series, make sure you grab this!

4-1/2 Star Review

Medieval fantasy comes to life thanks to the creative mind of author Robert A. Walker.

Six Moons, Seven Gods serves as the attention-getting first installment in the Legends of Baelon series. Packed with intrigue and adventure, it’s a reimagined good vs. evil tale.

An essential component of a successful fantasy world is attention to detail. Readers should approach this series with a clean slate and soak in the unique world-building aspects. As a guild of thieves plots to take over the vulnerable kingdoms of Baelon, a series of events are set in motion, creating chaos.

As secrets unravel, revenge and betrayal are common themes. The conclusion provides a natural stopping point, teeing up events for the next book.

Six Moons, Seven Gods provides a solid introduction to The Legends of Baelon series, leaving readers ready for more. ~ Amy for Novels Alive

"Six Moons, Seven Gods" is the first book in "The Legends of Baelon" series, and I went into the book without knowing what to expect. The world-building was exceptional. The author was able to seamlessly transition through multiple character perspectives as he wove the thread of the story. The book has everything that makes my fantasy-loving heart warm and fuzzy, including magic, romance, witty banter, tension, vengeance, and betrayal. Some of the plot twists were unexpected, and I am left with some questions that leave me eagerly waiting for the next installment in the series. I didn't have "medieval fantasy" on my book bingo card for 2024, but I am so glad I discovered it. This book could easily be a brilliant screenplay and box office sensation.

This book was amazing! I was drawn into the plot, kept engaged and didn't want to put the book down. I love books set in a medieval fantasy setting. Walker weaves into the plot and character the mystery of magic and the brutality of the times. Eagerly awaiting a sequel.
