Rate this book
A stubborn librarian. A grumpy billionaire. Three giant dogs. And a surprise blizzard. Nothing could go wrong here.
Isa Garren is determined to save her small-town library. As the head librarian, she’s nearly secured a grant, but she’s just missing one key thing…a collection of first-edition books. Lucky for her, she’s learned that a local billionaire happens to have one. Unlucky for her, she hasn’t heard back from him after countless attempts to contact him. But in an act of desperation, she’s about to go knocking on his door.
Adam Wellington just wants to be left alone. If he’s learned anything, it’s that life is easier with only casual relationships. He’s resigned to his solitary life. He certainly would never fall for a woman who shows up on his doorstep.
When an unexpected snowstorm, wreaks havoc on both their plans, these two enemies are forced to stay warm under the same roof. Will Isa be able to thaw Adam’s frozen heart, or will these two opposites let their feelings for each other melt away when the clouds clear?

''You are the most precious thing in my life''

Safety warnings:
- No cheating
- No OW/OM drama
- Loss of loves ones
- PTSD/Trauma
- HEA

This had a cute cover and a cute story. I liked the characters and the setting.

Issa is the librarian of a small town who is trying to save it from going bust and requires help from the local grumpy recluse billionaire. After several attempts to get his attention via emails, calls etc she finally decides to visit him and demand his help. Little did she know the snowstorm would be the reason she stays and falls in love with him.

Adam has been struggling for years alone and dealing with the loss of his parents and a past betrayal. He keeps to himself and was truly grumpy in the beginning but to be honest it did not last long.

This was definitely lust/love at first sight, and they shared a few days stuck in the house together.

They do have some issues and miscommunications later on because of Adam's trauma but it gets settled without real dramatic events.

I think my one change would have to be that I wanted this to be shorter? it would have worked better.

Oh God, this book took me by surprise and what a surprise it was!!!! The story completely grabbed me and I read it in one sitting (the book itself is short) because of how fast it reads.

Isa is a librarian in a small town who needs some limited edition books that are in the hands of Adam, who is a billionaire who lives locked up in his mansion on the outskirts of town; here we can see some similarities to Beauty and the Beast but it is very far from that, the story of these two happens quickly, she goes to Adam's house to ask for answers to all the emails asking to borrow the books but a snowstorm leaves her locked in the mansion and Adam offers her to stay and from there we can tell (actually from the second day) starts as it is big attraction between the two of them.

The story was good, I liked that we see Adam struggle to solve the problems in his mind and that is a big step (if you read the book you will understand) and I loved even more that Isa understood it even when almost at the end I wanted to tear my hair out because of the drama that the author put in this but it was good; as I said a quick read and good.

This is a new author for me and I am more than grateful to get to know her way of writing because this book was without a doubt a very good one.

Thanks to the author & Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review!!

Such a fun read! It was light, cute and sometimes funny. Yes, Adam was a bit of a pain in the butt at times but he does get over himself eventually! Isa was strong-willed but also gentle and sweet. Just the right story to break up my reading streak of murder mysteries!

If I could give this 0 ⭐'s, I would. I got to 25% of the book before DNFing because I knew it would be a waste of my precious reading time. TBF, I got this free off of Kindle so it's usually a toss-up. Lately, all my Kindle reads have been bad or ok. For this book in particular, it suffered from bad writing. I enjoyed the premise of the book: librarian trying to raise money for her library, snowed in with a billionaire, it could have been cute! But a.) the librarian has rich parents/ a fallback trust fund so her library was never in any real danger of closing (i.e., there were no stakes in this book), and b.) the billionaire is a horny, unlikable character. Let's get into some quotes, shall we?
Elisha comes out of the kitchen and glares at me. "Well, fuck you very much, ho."
"You're very welcome, slut."

No one speaks like that! And this wasn't the only time they talked to each other like that in a "playful manner," it's giving secondhand embarrassment and also that one time my white roommate tried to "be cool" with me and would call me bitch like chill, we are not cool like that tf. Anyway, onto horny billionaire Exhibit A:
Her lips curl into a smirk. Something about that awakens my cock. Nothing has awakened that beast in ages.

🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️
This is from Isa's POV (it's dual POV which I usually don't mind but in this case, none of their perspectives add substance):
He pauses and turns to look at me, a motion that now feels like a norm between us because he's done it at least a half dozen times this evening.

You mean to tell me he's not just turning to address you because of human decency???? I am flabbergasted.

Horny billionaire Exhibit B, he catches her naked and decides to look her over before turning away:
In my head, I envisioned some full-bushed, spinster librarian who hadn't thought to bother with such frivolous societal expectations.

He also mentions her body "of sin" sometime later in the kitchen when she's in sweats and a hoodie. His entire inner dialogue makes me uncomfortable, and it makes me even more uncomfortable knowing a woman wrote this who probably doesn't understand what stereotypes she's perpetuating.
I look at my dogs. "You know you two are fucking traders, right?" I ask them.

What do they trade, good sir? Sorry. That was just me being petty but there were small grammatical errors that did bother me, like writing their inner dialogue and then restating it for the benefit of the other character but just saying it verbatim without even trying to change the wording or anything. For the record, I am aware she meant traitors, though.

I think my biggest issue with this novella are with the other Goodreads reviews since most of them said it was a cute, light, fluffy read without mentioning the juvenile writing, and unlikable characters. Again, I did DNF at 25% because I realized it just wasn't worth my time to read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

This was one of my favourite reads of the year ! If not THE BEST! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️from the cover to the very last page I was absorbed ! When I tell you I started at the beginning again when I finished I do not tell you a word of a lie ! ❣️📚

I don’t know how any words I come up is going to do this epic read justice 🤫

Loving the cute cover art ! I love any book that has anything to do bookstores , books or libraries so this was an absolute gift to me 🥰📚

Isa, the local town librarian is desperate to save it and needs a grant and to get she offered up a special collection of books only problem is she doesn’t have the collection as yet and the person it belongs to isn’t answering her emails 🫣desperate times call for desperate measures so Isa takes the bull by the horns and heads to the source himself 🤣thanks to Elisha egging her on !

Adam is known as the town grump and recluse but he’s just the most loveable man there is and he’s just good at keeping people at bay so imagine his surprise when he gets a visitor , an uninvited one at that , and her dog Felipe ( a horse sized dog) that tags along 🥰🐾🤣

Their initial “ meet and greet” didn’t go well it would seem the 4 leggeds had a better start 🤣Ames and Isaac seem to hit off with Felipe almost immediately! Ida and Adam had me in stitches right from the start but she’s heading home but with the weather being what it is he won’t let her and that’s how it all starts ….

I laughed hard , cried hard and had some serious swoon moments ! I mean i literally put my hand over my heart and sighed ! Just read this and you’ll understand…

“ My breath hitches as I find Adam on his knee, holding out the most beautiful garnet-and-diamond ring that I’ve ever seen. “Isabelle Lisette Garren, you are the soul that completes mine. I
didn’t know how badly I needed you until I almost lost you just after finding you. I don’t ever want to feel that loss again. I want to spend as much time as we have on this earth together, making it a better place. I want to play chess in the library and read in the conservatory and play with the dogs in the yard and eat Elisha’s cookies and Leo’s ice cream together. I just want to be with you, always. Please make me the happiest man on earth and be mine, be my wife?”

P. S. Her ring has diamonds and garnet so that’s my birthstone ! It’s a sign this book was written for me and you’re all lucky I’ll share it with you 🤣🥰📚

Other friends /characters I loved

Elisha is hysterical and a good friend she’s also a fine baker and Isa lives in the small apartment above her cafe ( I don’t think I could , imagine having to live with those decadent smells ? I’d loose my mind🤣)

Bastian is like the brother Adam never had and their paths crossed in a strange way but they’re tight and oh Bastian can cook good food 😉

Mr and Mrs Potter , the sweetest people you’ll ever meet and they’ve so much love for Adam 🥰

I picked up this book the instant I saw the list of tropes. I love forced proximity, grumpy sunshine, and I’m a librarian, so I adore reading stories about librarians. As I read it, I started to notice similarities with Beauty and the Beast. While this isn’t a retelling, it’s more of an homage to the classic Disney movie. Like a detective, I found myself hunting down all the cute references and highlighting them in my ebook. It’s so adorable!

The Billionaire and the Librarian is a cozy romance that checks all the boxes and tropes. The “beast”–Adam Wellington–has a trauma in his past, and his journey to healing is quite sweet. While it says it’s “enemies-to-lovers”, I wouldn’t quite market it that way. Isa and Adam don’t get off on the right foot. But they got off soon after… (I’m sorry, but I had to🤣)

I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for a feel-good romance that’s light and sweet, low on the angst, and is filled with ample references to a Disney classic!

The cover and blurb caught my eye and I enjoyed this one so much. “The Billionaire and the Librarian” is a sweet, steamy and cute forced proximity with a grumpy/sunshine storyline.

Isa is a small town librarian who has been working hard to make the library the best it can be for the town. In her pursuit to grow the library she has been asking local billionaire, Adam Wellington, to donate some of his collection. Isa is frustrated when she never gets a response so she takes matters into her own hands and goes to his estate. Adam is a no nonsense guy who gets things done but from the safety of his estate. After confronting him at his estate, she’s snowed in with Adam for the next few days. But as they spend time together.

This was such a cute and fun read. I loved Isa and Adam from the beginning and enjoyed their story so much. Isa is genuine, sweet and determined to grow the local library. She doesn’t put up with Adam’s grumpiness and calls him on his stuff. Adam is smart, caring and a good guy who had a difficult past that led him to building walls around himself. I loved their banter and how they first interacted. They had a great build up until they gave into the attraction that was clear from the start. They were exactly what each other needed. Adam is a gentleman in the streets and a deliciously dirty man in the bedroom. Isa and Adam grow so much in this story and the last few chapters were great. Bastian was such a great secondary character and I hope we get a book with his own HEA.

To me, this book was so bad it was good. Like the movie Chicken Little. So I gave it two stars, because at least it made me feel things- like secondhand embarrassment. This isn't a type of book I normally read, but I was in the mood for a rom-com and I love Beauty and the Beast.

Just, try to read the dialogue like a script. Just read the book out loud and you will see how weird some of the lines are. People do not talk the way the characters do- at least no one I know.

It has all the tropes I like, but this story was really hefty on the telling and not the showing. Or, the character would explain how they felt, and then say it out loud, which, like this sentence, began to feel very redundant. The dialogue was clunky at times, and some of the scenes didn't make sense to me (example- Adam just walking into her room just so there could be an awkward/tension scene). ALOT of scenes felt like that- a messy patchwork of what the author wanted to happen, so she unnaturally forced it into the narrative (the popcorn scene, the fall off the horse, etc). I prefer slowburn romance, so maybe that's why this book didn't do it for me. The smexy thoughts the characters had felt random at times, but I at least give Isa props for being direct. (I don't read a lot of spice either, so I don't really have anything to say on it except there is some spice)

I did enjoy the homage to the movie Beauty and the Beast. I loved that her dog was named Felipe, and that several side characters reflected the movie's side characters.

Billionaire small town romance meets Beauty and the Beast!

Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice:🌶️🌶️

Oh my wow! I was drawn in by the blurb of this book but I wasn’t prepared for such a cute small town romance with just the right twist of angst to keep you on your toes!!

This amazing book starts off with our MFC Isa stubbornly deciding to confront the towns local billionaire in an effort to acquire his rare first edition collection of books in an effort to save her beloved library. Unfortunately, Isa determination to borrow these books, leads her to be snowed in with the elusive, grumpy billionaire Adam. This unfortunate or perhaps fortunate incident leads to a series events that will have you laughing, crying and swooning. Though all those emotions could come from the amazing characters S.E. Rose wrote!!

Isa is a stubborn but sweet librarian, who is determined to not only save the town library but improve it! Isa was probably my favorite character in this book!! She was stubborn, sweet, and beyond understanding, with an amazing found family as well as an amazing biological family. Not to mention I love how she took care of those around her, trying to help them overcome there fears and just being a positive tornado in everyone’s lives. Then on the opposite end of the spectrum you have our grumpy, elusive billionaire Adam. After suffering a greatly personal loss Adam has closed himself off from the world, no love, no family, no personal connections, his only concerns are his business and his charity. When a firecracker of a librarian stumbles into his life and kickstarts all those feelings he thought he’d long sealed away, well Adam starts to see that maybe things need to change. Hilarity and sweet dates happen in the wake of their meet cute, leading to a sweet beauty and the beastesque romance, with found family, grumpy alphaholes, and just the right amount of spice and angst! If you want more info than that though you absolutely must run out and grab a copy of The Billionaire and The Librarian!

The Billionaire and the Librarian are going to bring you a delicious romcom filled with forced proximity, opposites attract, wonderfully witty banter, so much chemistry, enemies to lovers, three big goofy dogs and the storm of the season! Such a great adventure!
Isa is the town librarian, and she is in desperate need of rare copies of books that one family is in possession of. She is sassy, determined but lovely, light and airy until she meets him. She has sent the private billionaire so many messages, so she heads out after work one evening to speak to him face to face to convince him! Adam is a very private man, but we soon learn that he is a product of his environment. He keeps very few close to him and everyone else is at a distance until her. Isa and her dog literally barge their way into his office, and she is like a dog with a bone, but he can't help but become enthralled with her, she is intriguing, smart, sassy, and beautiful. He needs convincing and she is just the woman to sway him. The storm that neither one was expecting brings them together for the weekend and then the unexpected happens. Loved this couple. Adam is complex, giving, he isn't broken but so different from anyone she has ever met and is he unlovable? I guess you will need to dive into their story and find out!

It is ridiculous that this is my first read from this author!! (and what a fun read it is)

The cover grabbed my intrest, and the description pulled me in. This is a familiar trope that feels very much like a twist on the "Beauty and the Beast" story we all love. Luckily, I received a copy and began reading. The next thing I knew, I marked it finished!

Adam has a difficult backstory that contributes to his self-imposed isolation. Completely understandable and easy to connect with, and his sexy, grumpy billionaire self is not at all prepared for what's to come.
Isa is a strong willed librarian, set on showcasing books that Adam owns. She doesn't take no for an answer, and finds herself at the reclusive Adam's front door. In a blizzard. (Uh huh. See where this is going?😉)

The characters in this book are engaging and easy to enjoy. This couple's chemistry and steamy scenes are very entertaining and I liked following them to their HEA.

I thank the author and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for my free ARC. I voluntarily leave my review. I will certainly be reading more from this author in the future.

This book is a charming and heartwarming tale that explores the unexpected connection between Adam and Isa, two characters who meet in quite a unique situation. Their journey unfolds in a way that's both entertaining and emotionally engaging.

The initial encounter where they get snowed in together sets the stage for the simmering tension that builds between them. As they try to avoid each other, it becomes clear that there's more to each of them than meets the eye. This hidden depth adds a layer of intrigue to their developing relationship.

Adam's realization that change may be necessary is a turning point in the story, and it's heartening to see his character evolve. The journey of self-discovery and personal growth for both Adam and Isa adds depth and authenticity to the narrative.

What follows their meet-cute are moments of hilarity and sweet dates that will leave you with a smile on your face. This is a heartwarming romance that beautifully combines humour and genuine connection. SE Rose's storytelling creates a delightful and engaging reading experience, making this a book that's not to be missed.

S.E. Rose does not disappoint once again. In this sweet, small-town romance we have a strong and very independent female character next to a self-proclaimed broken billionaire who is grumpy on the outside but soft in some spots on the inside. What I loved about this story was how it brings to light that even rich people deal with mental health issues and that all people can benefit from counseling to move through the trauma they have experienced. The way she writes Adam's character had me rooting for him and hoping he would become a better man after meeting Isabelle. I adored their shared love of animals and books. Both characters are so down-to-earth and relatable. I had a couple of laugh-out-loud moments. While no tears were shed, there were definitely some heart-breaking moments. I could feel Adam's deep pain. I had so much compassion for what he had been through. I wish everyone could have a Mrs. Potter in their life. I know I wish I had one! Overall, I enjoyed this sweet love story that helped me escape for a couple of days!

I absolutely adored this story and was hooked within minutes of starting the book!

Isa, our feisty librarian, is in need of a grant to keep her small town library open and functional and has proposed a viewing of first edition books. The problem? She doesn’t have access to the books and the owner is not responding to emails. Adam, said owner of the books, is super surprised when Isa stops by his mansion unannounced to discuss the subject, only to have a huge snowstorm come through that effectively makes them stay together for the next few days. Somehow, Isa manages to get Adam to open up a bit and not act the part of the curmudgeon.

Loved how the two characters fit together, even when you thought he was going to mess it all up, Adam managed to pull through and overcome!

This was an arc read through Wildfire Marketing, and I’m happy to be selected because I’ve found a new to me author that I’ll be reading more of!

Boo. This book had potential!! A hot billionaire who reads?? Sign me up! Adam is a mysterious billionaire who's parents died in a car crash and left their mansion and fortune to him. Isa is the town librarian who is struggling to keep the lights on. When Isa applies for a grant using Adam's special book collection as the crown jewel she gets snowed in at his house when she confronts him about ignoring her request. Unfortunately Adam is very bland and one dimensional. Honestly Isa is too. This had potential with the beginning being pretty good but this book tries wayyyy to hard to be a Beauty and the Beast interpretation. The author establishes direct connections like the west wing and the ball gown but basically abandons the reasons and just continues on with her version. This reads like a middle schoolers Wattpad fanfic. There were a lot of super cringy lines and dialogue. It was hard to read.

This book was such a cute read I devoured it all in one sitting. It gave me some Beauty and the Beast vibes without being identical to the story and I was here for it. Isa is a librarian in a small town trying her best to keep the doors open while providing different services to her patrons but funding is nonexistent and her only hope is a collection of first edition books owned by the recluse billionaire, Adam. When Isa goes to confront Adam about responded back to her request she isn’t prepared for what all ensues next. A blizzard, some cute dogs, and so much more happens that bring these two closer, but will Adam open up to Isa and let someone in or is he too traumatized by his past and will let fear win? So much happens in this story that’s cute, emotional, steamy, and more I loved every second of it.

Honestly, Isa and her dog will amuse you. And win your heart right away. But Adam? He’ll break yours before putting it back together. And not because he’s unbearably controlling (much), or because he’s grumpy and gruff (which he is), or even because he’s clearly got ideas about safety that aren’t compatible with the modern world. No, he’ll break then fix you because of all he’s been through. All he’s tried to survive. And how he’s still able to find it in himself to fall for Isa. Sure, he’s going to mess up a bit. But the apology? Yeah, that’s worth its weight in gold. Or books.

So enjoy a grumpy guy, a funny woman, the scorching heat between them, both physically and via their battles of wits and snark, and let Adam’s journey toward happiness make your day a little better.

The Billionaire and the Librarian is such a cute read. There are plenty of laughs out loud moments to go along with the little emotional ones. Isa is the town librarian looking to bring some special books to the library and is tired of waiting. Adam the recluse of a billionaire holds the books close. You feel for Adam as you learn everything he's gone through and how it's affected him. There is this chemistry you cannot deny between Adam and Isa as they are trapped together. I love them so much. Such a fun read. Isa and her friends will put a smile on your face even as Adam has his missteps. This is just a start to what I believe is going to be one fabulous series to come. Isa has a plan to help the financially strapped library where she works if she could only get Adam onside. Her attempts to contact him have failed so the personal touch is needed which includes a surprise visit including her dog and results in some forced proximity.

Due to his past Adam doesn’t allow many people close and expected the same would hold true when it came to the determined librarian who is temporarily staying in his home. He certainly never expected her to break through his walls and show him what was missing in his life.

Isa is a good person with the best of intentions and Adam soon realizes that she is different from anyone he has known. This is a heartwarming story about overcoming the past and how the right person changes everything.

Love 💘

This story was good. This story was about dealing with loss, love, laughs and overcoming your fears. Isabella is the town librarian. She is smart, sweet, beautiful and amazing. She got tired and decide to make a visit. She unexpected gets stuck by a snowstorm. Isabella is a beautiful soul and a good woman. Adam is reclusive. He is grumpy, smart, loner and a billionaire. He has a surprise visit that started a change of events. He was fighting within himself. I love how he became a better version of himself. The writing was done beautifully and I got right in to. I was hooked! I absolutely love this story! Amazing work S. E. Rose!

This was such a cute romantic comedy. Isa is the town librarian who is as stubborn as they come and Adam is the grumpy billionaire from which she is trying to borrow a first edition collection of books to help save the library. Adam has been through a lot and has some very unreasonable ideas when it comes to the safety of the ones he cares about. This in-turn pushes Isa away. His grand gesture to get Isa back made me swoon. This book definitely gives you Beauty and the Beast vibes without retelling the same old story. I will recommend this one for sure.

#thebillionaireandthelibrarian is the all new book by @seroseauthor

Adam and Isa meet in an interesting situation. Isa is a librarian who needs the rare, first edition books for a feature in her library that Adam has. She tries to play by the rules, but when she doesn’t hear back about the books she needs for a grant, she takes matters into her own hands. With her horse of a dog in tow they head to Adams estate on the outskirts of town to confront him.

They end up being snowed in together. And try to avoid each other as the tension between them boils. They dogs become close, quick friends who make the best of the situation. Adam and Isa get to know each other and there’s a lot more under the exterior for them both. But when the storm clears, so does their time together.. for now.

I really loved these two. Adam had so much depth to his emotions but never let them out. He didn’t open up about his family or life until Isa. Something about her made him want to talk and calmed him. Isa pulled him out of his comfort zone while getting to see another side of him. Isa is fun, loyal and lovable. Adam can’t stay away no matter what he tries. I hope to see more of these character soon!

I absolutely adored everything about this forced proximity, opposites attract, enemies to lovers romcom. Isa and Adam were so much fun. I seriously wasn’t sure who I loved more. She’s sassy and spunky and incredibly determined. He’s stubborn and grumpy and slightly damaged. Together they made for an enjoyable romance read. Add in a host of fantastic secondary characters - Bastian I’m talking about you - Ames, Isaac and Felipe you pups too! All and all, a must read romance! Wow, this book surprised me! If I hadn't worked, I would have finished this book in one day. This modern retelling offers a fresh take on the Beauty and the Beast love story. Isabelle is the local librarian for a small town. The library she oversees is struggling financially, and to win a grant, she hopes to have a special exhibit of first-edition novels. To obtain this exquisite set, she drives to the mansion at the far end of town, to meet Mr. Adam Wellington, the local billionaire.

Adam is rude and angry at the first meeting, practically yelling at Isa to leave immediately. But a random blizzard triggers unsafe environments, forcing Adam and Isa to spend days together, in close proximity, at his mansion. Bickering turns to banter, and the heated arguments slowly melt into attraction. I loved Isa's strong fierceness and spitfire - she was Adam's perfect match. Adam has a lot of baggage and reasons why he is such a mess and prefers to be alone.

This story is filled with banter, humor, tender moments, heartbreak, and some spiciness that will leave readers blushing. I am looking forward to the next story of this series!

First time reading S.E. Rose work and I had to say I really enjoyed it. It's a Beauty and the Beast retelling with a fast paced story and a good plot. Wish that there's more to the world building though, it has more potential in it.
But that being said I'm excited to the other books of S.E. Rose

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!! This book was such a fun, cute, quick read! I loved Isa and her stubborn, feisty attitude. The way she was determined to get what she wanted and not back down to the grumpy billionaire had me rooting for her. Adam was a grump, but he grew on me. I was dying to know how things would work out for them and to watch Adam open his heart.

This is definitely a must read book for sure.- By Alisa

Dnfing at 20-something percent because: poor writing, the hero gives me the ick, and it’s boring.

Also, why would an author give you a scene where someone bursts into someone else’s bedroom and asks what’s going on and then never explain why?

I read a short story by this author earlier in the day—was supposed to be a romance, but the story was really about them becoming friends and the epilogue was basically that he asked her out on a date. I think this author is not for me.
