Third Constitutional Monarchy is the third book in the "History of Turkish National Struggle" covering mainly 1920. Original documents and scholarly research are the basis of this book written by Mahmut Goloğlu, the prominent researcher and author regarding the formation and the early periods of the Republic of Türkiye from 1918 to 1950. The earlier books described the Erzurum and Sivas Congresses. This book explains the forced closure of the Ottoman Chamber of Deputies, the formation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, its first laws, internal armed conflicts and rebellions instigated by the Allies and Sultan Vahdettin, how Mustafa Kemal Atatürk overcame them using his outstanding leadership along with his friends and members of the Assembly. How Mustafa Kemal and his friends managed to get support from the Bolsheviks, the politics around Bolshevism, the Allies trying to kindle Kurdism in Anatolia and how Kurds responded are detailed in the book.

Mahmut Goloğlu (d. 1915, Akçaabat, Trabzon - ö. 1982, İstanbul), Türk siyaset adamı ve tarihçi.

Babası Sarıkamış'ta şehit düştü. Trabzon'daki öğrenciliği sırasında Halkevi'nin yerel tarih araştırmalarına katıldı. 1938'de İstanbul Üniversitesi Hukuk Fakültesi'ni bitirdi. TEKEL'de müfettiş oldu. Bu süre serbest avukatlık yaptıktan sonra aktif siyasete atıldı. 1950 seçimlerinde Demokrat Parti 'den (DP) Trabzon milletvekili seçildi. İki dönem (10. ve 11.) daha Trabzon milletvekili seçildi, Meclis Başkan Vekilliği yaptı. 27 Mayıs Darbesi'nden sonra, Anayasa'yı ihlal suçundan Yüksek Adalet Divanı'nda yargılandı, aklandı.

Milli Mücadele ve Cumhuriyet dönemini konu alan tarih çalışmalarıyla tanınmıştır. 1976'da Karadeniz Teknik Üniversitesi'nde (KTÜ) Devrim Tarihi profesörü olarak ders vermeye başladı. Akademik çalışmalarıyla Boğaziçi Üniversitesi tarafından 1981'de Şeref Ödülü'ne layık görüldü.
