Losing Liberty Finding Freedom

Rate this book
'Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.' (Santayana, 1905) As our broken world emerges from the turmoil and oppression of a diabolical period in history, will The Church of Jesus Christ wake up, rise up and stand together to push back the darkness? The marginalisation and persecution of the Pilgrim Fathers in the 1600s has been allowed to happen again in our lifetime. They too lost many of their rights and liberties but, unlike our experience, they were completely free and able to go searching for a new life on distant shores. This book is a modern-day pilgrimage of awakening, revelation and searching for the truth. Losing Liberty, Finding Freedom is an encouraging and hope-filled reminder of what it means to be wholly set apart for God and living a life of hope, surrender and adventure. It will stir you, challenge you and prepare you for the days to come. Laura Brett BSc (Hons) PGCert is an evangelist, a qualified midwife, international speaker, mentor and activist. She is positioned at the frontline of Christian ministry, whether this be preaching the Gospel, praying for healing and deliverance or publicly speaking out for truth and freedom. Laura lives in North Yorkshire, England with her husband Rob and their three children.

Our current world is a rapidly changing place, especially over recent years. Have you ever wondered where your place as a Christian or a non-Christian is in this new society; this new ‘normal’ or with the new battles that we face. Laura’s book dives deep into these very questions and provokes the foundation of our purpose and understanding in these new times. Just as the earthly world around us has changed, our Christian world is changing too and we are faced with new challenges but not too dissimilar to the challenges that the early Christians of the past, the pilgrims of the new world faced. Laura excellently draws parallels between the two and really makes you evaluate the similarities between past and present.
If you seek the truth, and you are ready for an awakening you must read this book. It’s definitely time to stand up and start taking notice of what is going on around us before it’s too late. Don’t be left behind wishing that you heeded warnings from voices such as Laura’s! Reading this made me realise what an important job I have in standing up for truth and righteousness. It is simply not good enough to just watch society crumble around us and trust that we’ll be okay. We must take a stand and this book describes the perfect unity we have in this mission.. Jesus Christ. As a Christian myself I am already deep in faith but reading of Laura’s experiences with God and the journey she has been on has totally invigorated and fired up my faith where I didn’t realise it could be fired up much more. If you need spiritual fuel in your life these pages are guaranteed to get you fired up.

Laura Brett, a trained midwife who describes herself as an evangelist – which she surely is – takes the reader on a journey she, her husband and children took against the odds when travel restrictions made it very difficult, particularly for the unvaccinated, to move freely from country to country. The family plan was to go to the United States, but as she says to get there it took “patience” and “faith” which Laura appears to have in abundance. This family was not alone. Neither were they the first to make such a pilgrimage after the authorities had removed God-given rights to freely practice and follow their consciences and beliefs.

In Losing Liberty Finding Freedom Laura Brett fills in a lot of the gaps in my education and makes me thirsty for more knowledge of those who in the first quarter of the 17th century braved the high seas to set up a separatist colony bent on following Christian teaching in order to establish a democratic civilian system which based its religious philosophy on ”just and equal laws”.

For me this book enforced some ideas which were already seeded and taking root. It was easy to read, full of wisdom, apposite quotations and teaching.

In brief it was a pleasure for the eyes and the soul.

Having recently met Laura at a Ryedale Filling Station Meeting I was very interested in reading her book, I could not put it down. It is one that you will want to delve into again and again. I found I could relate to a lot of the events she has written about such as the infamous Covid and the devastation it created, separation of families, the loneliness of the destructive lockdowns that should never have happened, the fear generated that ruined lives. Those of us that trusted in God, rebelled and refused to be coerced into taking the vaccine. From the very beginning I knew in my heart it was wrong and put my faith in my Saviour and Psalm 91. The latter has been my Life-Saver since 1976. Our lives seem to have followed similar patterns and there were many other instances where I could relate, Laura's travels in the USA to places where my husband Jim and I have also visited brought back memories, even Boston, I never did get to Boston but the story of the Boston Tea Party has a special meaning for me which I will share with Laura next time I meet her.
Standing up for the Truth is very important even if you are threatened with arrest or lose friends because of it.

This is a book to inspire and challenge. I loved reading how God took Laura and her family on a journey of discovery, weaving together so many elements so beautifully. Laura writes candidly with honesty and vulnerability, calling us all to draw closer to God and to be willing to stand up for what is right, whatever the cost. Such a brilliant book to give to anyone who is searching for God or to anyone who needs reminding that he has a plan and a purpose for our lives. I sat and read it in one sitting. I was moved to tears and challenged to share Jesus with those around me.

I first became aware of Laura around Four years ago, when she was interviewed by Anna Brees - My lightbulb moment !! Since then I’ve followed and admired her determination to spread the truth and this book captures her journey of what has driven her. It’s beautifully written, very honest and a lovely insight into her family life and how her strong faith IS the backbone of everything. Give it a read 🙏

Done in a day. Really good read. Loved the photos at the end really helped me visualise it! I did actually google map all the destinations as Laura talked about them to see how far apart they were and what google depicted them as, to help me build a picture.

A timely, encouraging and inspiring read.

Like talking to a friend.

Laura has an amazing ability to write as if it's a conversation with a close friend. She opens up really honestly about personal and wider struggles over the last few years bringing all her observations back to her spiritual journey. I found it easy to draw parallels with my own experience and to take comfort from the scripture she uses throughout.
