Author of the Colonial Exploration Corps, Space Janitor, Recycled World, and Krimson Empire series.

I grew up in the US Pacific Northwest, and after twenty years roaming the country with the US Air Force, I'm back. I have a spouse, three kids, and a dog named Pippin.

I've been an IT guy, a choir director, an executive assistant, a stay-at-home mom, a college instructor, and that lady at the information booth in a tourist town. But writer is the best job ever, because I get to make stuff up. Stuff I wish were true; stuff I'm glad isn't true.

When I'm not writing, I like to knit, read, bake, and ski. I also love to travel.

This book brings together everyone who has been stealthily planning the revolution in the Federation.

Quinn and Tony are doing all they can to remain free, so that they can help their friends but, while they are planet bound, the Admiral Andretti, Quinn's former boss, who has spent more time trying to kill her than any enemy' ever did, creates a coup, and takes over as Premier of the Federation.

With the help of Sashelle, her daughter's sentient caat, Quinn and Tony do their best to get off planet, but are caught and imprisoned at Firenz, the Premier's base, u and Quinn is badly beaten by him.

But help is at hand, as all of the disparate forces, including Tony's family, hone in on the base and, with Sashelle's help, Quinn and Tony manage to escape their prison, in time to join in the fight for freedom.

I absolutely loved this book, which made a dramatic, fun, crazy, ending to the whole Krimson Empire series.

In the write up from both authors - this was co-written by Craig Martelle and Julia Huni (an author I'm definitely going to have to investigate), it is mentioned that there might be more books written for this series, and all I can say, is that I seriously hope that they will be able to find the time to do so, as I feel there are other adventures that Quinn, Tony, and their families can go on!

Ok, having finished Krimson Surge I had to finish the series (or at least what the series is as of now). An intersting conclusion that does a good job concluding the series. Where I had problems with Krimson Surge (timeline mainly) I don't I Krimson Flare. Part of the reason is Ms. Huni does a great job pulling the series to a conclusion (or is it...). Here Quinn, Tony, and family (plus extended family) do a great job presenting a story that's fun and exciting. While Ms. Huni has continued in an accellerated fashion I don't have a problem with it because there's no obvious time lag between Krimson Surge and Krimson Flare. Instead we have an almost seemless move. What I particiarly like is that both Quinn and Tony have stepped up and become equals in almost every way possible and while the supporting characters are present they don't dominate the story telling. Rating wise this one pushes to the being the best in this series and what's nicely done is there's room for the story to continue if Ms. Huni wants (sorry, not spoiler here on what that might be, read it and see if you reach the same as me on the possiblity of a sequel or sequel series).

I kind of feel a little but bad for giving this only 4 stars instead of 5, but I recently read a couple books that each won both the Hugo AND Nebula awards along with a few others.

The Krimson Empire series is like those in that it's a good, fun read that is hard to put down. But it also isn't quite to that level in some way that I can't really describe or out into words. I would not be stupid these authors write something that good in the future, and I look forward to it when they do, along with all the stuff that might come in between that one and this.

I'll let others write about the characters, setting, and plot, but I will say that it is all well done, and consistent in the pacing, dialogue, and prose.

What a great conclusion to the series.... wrapped up most of the story lines but left some scope to continue the stories of the characters going forward if the authors choose to do so. I would be happy to read more. I really enjoy the people oriented story telling, there's enough action and tech to be interesting without overwhelming with the characters. It's all told in a very accessible and easy to read style (maybe addictively so... I finished it in one day :) ) I also really appreciated the humour.... anyone who lives with a cat will certainly appreciate the Caat character, and I love the "tip of the hat" moments to the old sci fi shows like star trek and others.

Great story!!

The whole series is focused on removing the Federation, a government with too much control. And the Roussia strong arm handling of their areas. Great characters including a caat . So there is space travel, family, regular shipping and delivery, adults, teens, military action and a little romance.
Obviously I enjoyed it. There is humor in misuse of 20th century entertainment icons.
I give 5 stars for the overall story and brilliant writing. However there are typos beta readers/editors should have caught.

I just finished the 4th book of the series and the crossover. They have kept me interested enough to finish one about every 2 days. I like the main characters and the humor. I always like it when the guy gets the girl in the end (or the girl gets the guy). There is enough technical stuff to be interesting for me and even though we have several cats around the house I wouldn't mind having a caat. I have previously read the Space Janitor and Former Space Janitor books, and I am glad I found this series.

Very fun read!

I loved this book. I really hope that someday this series will continue. There was alot of action and the book was over too soon. I enjoyed reading a book that had so many family interactions. A talking caat makes any story better! Thanks to both authors for their comments after the book. I really enjoy hearing about their lives, especially during this dreary Covid time.

I enjoyed this series. It is quite light, easy reading with characters you grow to like quite quickly. Julia excels at characters that are consistent to themselves. The plot relied a bit too much on coincidence and the ever growing abilities of the caat but these are minor issues. A nice read that you don’t have to put a lot of effort into....

Spies, lies & dictators Lives

You get five stars because you drew me & I'm hooked. I really want to see what a Wedding between Quinn & Tony looks like; plus future endeavors, of course! This is a fun story that deals with some serious subjects really well. When is the next book due?

Great series!!!

This series is about a "family" in the future. It's got it all: Granma, mom & dad, kids , aunts & uncles, good friends and even the family kitty, living and working together. It's exciting with plenty of action as three powers battle it out for control. Also a lot of humor and the dynamics in the family is realistic and funny.

The last book for now

A lot happens in this book. Reggie gets one of the kids. Will he get both? Will Quinn get him/her/them back? Will Quinn and Tony get out of prison? Will they both decide they love each other and express it? What can the cast do now and how? Will the newest stealth technology scramble their minds again?

As things heat up the ensuing chaos makes things quite dangerous. Everything the earlier books have been working for has come to a head and we get to see how things play out.

If you read the others you need to read this one. If you haven't read the others what are you waiting for?

The Final Battle? Great Series Finale

Everyone has their own agenda and that is not a bad thing. Tony finds the elusive Krimson agent. Will he help? What side of the war is the Federation on? Follow the cat and find out.

Quinn, Tony, and Sassy

A most excellent space opera with a talking caat. We’ve got everything here. Politics, action, exes, and a new sentient species (with some really cool abilities) outing themselves to the galaxy at large. A really fun trip and the best Krimson book to date.

4th in Krimson Empire

Good character and world building. One way I judge books I like is whether I care about the people in the story. Quinn and Tony grab you right away. I adore the caat.

Krimson

I thoroughly enjoyed this series. I was attracted by the family feeling of the books. Mostly I was glad that there was excitement but no prolonged violence and I especially loved the “Caat”.

Great finale

Quinn, Tony, and the gang continue their adventures. Everyone hits their stride as this chapter draws to a close. It's all been building to this, and now finally...oh, wait, no spoilers.

Finally

You'll have to read the book to find out what my Headline means. I was a bit skeptical for a while, after a while it came together. It was a fine story and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Looking forward to other books by Huni. She is good.

Series finale with a comprehensive wrap-up that pretty much checked all the boxes. Plenty of action with LOTS of machinations - everyone seemed to have a plot/scheme. They wouldn't have survived without the caat though - truth!

*No Spoilers*. I really enjoyed the book. This was a very good wrap up to the series. It had relatable characters and a fun plot. Sashelle the caat was great and serves a story (hint).

Reviewed on Lili Lost in a Book

The last book in the series.

I really enjoyed this series so I’m sad that it’s over. I really enjoyed binge-reading the entirety of the series. And what a way to end it! It was great!

They defeated the Russoken, are freeing planets from the Federation, but work for Tony and Quinn is far from over because the Federation is about to hit back.

I loved how action-packed this book was! You know I’m an action kind of girl, and this book had it nonstop! It made me so happy 🥰 There were points where I was seriously stressed out because the characters just found themselves in some really tough situations and I just didn’t know how they were going to get out of these predicaments. I was on the edge of my seat! Does Sashelle maybe rescue them at times? Perhaps 👀 I mean, from the last book we know how absolutely badass she is! I love that sassy caat! She is probably my favorite character, but can you blame me? She can communicate telepathically with others, she’s smart, and her banter with the other characters is the best!

But I love all the other characters as well! I love how close they all became—some of them were related by blood, but all of them became family. I love a found family trope! And Tony and Quinn... I finally got my wish!!

Although I wish we would’ve gotten more romance out of them because, by the end, they were so freaking cute! But I get it, this isn’t a romance first and foremost. But I am gonna miss them! 😭 Although there is going to be a Krimson Empire/Colonial Explorer Corps/Space Janitor crossover and I am SO FREAKING EXCITED!!! I cannot wait! If you’re looking for an action-packed sci-fi with fun characters and a good plot, I highly recommend this series!
