When the flu struck it wasn't like any before it. It carried such force that no one could have been ready for it. The CDC had predicted it to be one of the worst. However, what we expected and what was delivered were completely opposite. Unfortunately, it was not the same for everyone. There were three types of people.
The first had no disease and remained able to care for loved ones and the ill.
The second had the flu and felt like hell but the majority would recover.
The Third and the worst were fostering a zombie virus that was going to bring the nation to its knees. The dead outnumber the living and are never satisfied! Mike Evans puts himself, his family, and his neighbors through an apocalyptic hell that no one could have ever expected. Start this mile-a-minute series today to see who will see tomorrow! Those that survive will come to question if it was luck, or if is it just prolonging the inevitable Book info for 5 6 & 7

Close to home couldn't prove to be more accurate in this, the seventh installment of the action packed zombie apocalypse series, Zombies on The Block! No character is safe and everyone of the dead are starving for a taste of the living flesh. Continue the saga to see who lives and who will perish.
Mike Evans lives in Iowa with his wife, children, and two adopted dogs Rusty and Harley Quinn. He writes with a passion to bring his characters to life, to make you fall in love with them, and then make you flip pages to find out if they’ll survive or perish. He keeps his characters realistic, there are no superheroes. There are no perfect characters in his books, everyone has their flaws much like that of life. Mike loves to write in different genres and is unafraid to try something new.
When the zombie apocalypse started one neighbourhood in Ankeny, Iowa fought back. The fight for survival increased as more and more zombies showed up because of the gunfire of the survivors. People from the neighbourhood that were out of town or not at home had horrifying trips trying to get back to their families and friends. The neighbours and friends banded together to get them home, unfortunately many were lost along the way, 3 deaths broke me and had in in tears. Will the survivors make it to their planned safe location or will more be lost?
I quite enjoyed Evans’ Zombies and Chainsaws, so I gave this set a try. The basic premise is to follow what happens to a neighborhood full of people when the zombie apocalypse happens. The biggest problem with the book is that Evans takes on too many “main characters” and it not only gets hard to follow who is who, but it drags the story on forever. If the series were half the size, it probably would have been ten times better.
On the negative side, Evans dialogues need a lot of work. They are stilted and mostly what everyone does is bicker, which is unpleasant. On the positive side, there is a ton of action and Evans zombie flu, while not unique, does have the advantage of putting zombies everywhere really fast.
If I were buying these books one by one (instead of getting it as a complete set) I would have stopped after the first one or two. Since I got the set, I persevered to the point where I thought I should finish the series even though I had stopped enjoying it. I think it’s worth a look if you are a big lover of zombie apocalypse scenarios, but it’s not an example of Evans’ best work.
There's a thing called comedic timing, it helps build the punch line. In this case it's dialog, too much strips the suspense/horror because you're paying attention to that and not building a mood. And spacing, at least double if not triple between each paragraph is unusual and too much. When a paragraph is sometimes only a sentence or two the page looks strange. Then Anna, she died! Her gym buddy climbed the rope up the side of the building and bit a chunk out of her thigh. I went back and reread it because when Colby came and found her on the gym roof, she had bumped her head but was alive!!! The plot was good and I loved Denny's character. But Elisa, Diane, and Emily were lucky not to meet an unfortunate end. When emergencies happen sometimes it's smart to get off the X and not insisting on having the last word. It would have been good to see how they settled in.
This series is big on humor and gore. There are sad parts but they are broken up with great sarcasm and dark humor. I would recommend this series to any reader who enjoys zombie apocalypse stories.
During the series I kept picturing all my neighbors and how they would handle an apocalypse. Mike and friends would probably do better. Lol . give the series a chance its funny and entertaining.
