A holiday hockey romance that will make you laugh, swoon, clutch your pearls, and believe in holiday magic.
Hattie McNamara, a southern girl born and bred, has never seen a hockey game in her life, but when the offer to become the Seattle Vipers’ new Assistant Director of Media and Marketing lands in her lap, she can’t possibly say no. Leaving Texas and her unhinged ex in the rearview is just what the doctor ordered. Now, she’s in a new town, a new time zone, a new climate for crying out loud, and feeling very alone. That is, until she meets star goalie, Connor Shepherd. He’s so good looking it should be a crime and they have an intense connection, but the last thing she needs is a new relationship on top of everything else. The chemistry between them can’t be denied though, and the two become fast friends—and nothing more. No benefits. No dating. Just friends…When Connor finds out that Hattie despises his favorite holiday, he takes it as a challenge to change her opinion and make her love Christmas—and Connor Shepherd doesn’t back down from a challenge. They’ve both agreed that dating isn’t on the agenda, but the more time they spend together, the more Connor falls. His life isn’t exactly uncomplicated these days, so trying for more with Hattie may not be a good idea—or it could turn out to the best one he’s ever had.
Will Hattie fall in love with Christmas…and maybe Connor too? Find out in Puck the Holidays!
New to me author but I’d definitely check out more of their work. I loved the slow development of new co-workers (the h is in social media marketing for a hockey team and the H is the goalie for said team) to friends to lovers but man the internal angst they both had over whether or not to leave the friend zone dragggggged. Still, lots of adorable moments, immediate connection of the “this is a person that should be important to me” variety, nice chemistry, found family, cute kid, good bits of humor, eventually steamy times, and some suspense. And piercings 👀. Oh and sports.
Hattie (h) has moved from Texas to Oregon for a good job opportunity, but also to escape a stalking ex. She’s not interested in dating but she also feels a spark with Connor (H) right away. Physical attraction-type spark, but also a good person meeting another good person who fits type spark. Connor offers to show Hattie around the city and also hopes to change her mind about how much she hates Christmas once he learns about that as well. Holiday theming is on the lighter side overall I’d say, but it’s still present. This is a character-focused romance with some plot regarding the shift from friends to lovers and eventually the danger that presents itself when moving doesn’t stop the stalking ex.
Written in first person, dual POV. No om drama, but small amount of ow drama - the final push for them to face how they feel involves the H getting surprise set up on a blind date sort of and even though he’s not into the OW, the jealousy the h experiences was no fun. Both are experienced, H is a reformed player and has been celibate for years due to .
Connor and Hattie are wonderful main characters, fun and sweet. I was rooting for them the whole way, but also wanted to shake them because they were idiots when it came to their feelings. The almost-kisses and tension caused some internal shrieking a couple times lol. I’m from the south and I did get a bit of a kick out of Hattie’s Southernisms and how the team reacted to them. They’re leaned into quite a bit, but then family up north react the same way to me so it’s also realistic. Hattie’s a sweetheart who’s super friendly and extremely competent at her job. Connor’s also great at his job, in addition to being a teddy bear who’s covered in tats, has some piercings, and is just as intense in the bedroom as he is at work. Work-wise, this does have on page hockey, team events, and even a scary scenario involving the dangers of being a hockey player that had me emotional. For steam, it’s a slow burn but it burns pretty hot once the lines are crossed and Connor’s packing decorations below the belt.
Loved the side characters from Hattie’s new co-workers to Connor’s family. Lots of moments with a special family member that highlighted the deep bond shared with Connor but also one that was building with Hattie. Connor’s teammates were esp a riot and even though his best friend on the team was a manwhore of the highest order, he was lovable too (I wouldn’t read his book personally, but he made for an excellent side character). There’s lots of found family feels because of the team atmosphere.
The pacing did feel off in a couple places, but that might be because of how I felt about the relationship not progressing. They do truly get to know each other and are constantly in each other’s pockets before they become a couple though, which means lots of adorable moments. No third act breakup, once they’re finally together, they stay there. The climax has suspenseful elements that do get intense and danger for both main characters. It’s resolved and emotional, but leaves Hattie and Connor headed towards their HEA very much in love. An epilogue showing them further in the future would have been amazing though. I’m sure the intention is to have them be side characters in future books.
Triggers: stalking, abusive ex, mentions of parental and sibling loss, on page violence, brief recollection of a past miscarriage

I really enjoyed reading this book!
It's so hard for me to say no to a good hockey romance and this is one I recommend!
Hattie moves to get away from her creepy ex. She ends up having to work closely with Conner, the goalie for the hockey team, while she does the social media.
The single dad/uncle is a bit of a spoiler 🤫 but it should be mentioned if kids are going to sway your decision to read one way or the other.
I absolutely LOVED that there was no ridiculous break up scene and they had to find their way back together. ❤️🥳💖
You could definitely feel the chemistry between Hattie and Conner and you absolutely get to read about it. 😉😉
I can't wait to see what our next couple will be up to from the Vipers' Sin Bin!
Thank you author K.D. Miller for allowing me to be a part of your ARC team!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and finished it in one sitting. The characters are loveable, the problems each characters face are relatable, and it was a very sweet and loving romance brewing with a perfect amount of banter, tension and spice. Plus who doesnt live Hockey Christmas Romances 😍
Connor is my new book boyfriend! Slow burn, with spice and a fantastic plot! Characters are loveable, funny, devoted and we'll thought out. I'm always a sucker for a good hockey romance, but this one tops most! The only complaint I have...I could've read another 200 pages 😍
It was a very cute love story but also in the middle of the story it got me to the point where I wanted to jump in and hurt the one guy! But it's not the one she ends up with so it for sure was amazing!! I'm so glad the guy got what he deserved, and she finally got her closure and she got away!
I haven’t been a fan of Christmas themed novels (in the past,) but I am a fan of K.D. Miller and hockey romances so I thought I’d give this book a shot. I’m not sorry for doing so, it was a pretty good read.
Some of the tropes: Hockey Romance (obviously) Single-Parent Dual POV Stalker Abuse (mostly off page) Grumpy Sunshine Friends to Lovers …and more
I loved that the FMC, Hattie, was the grumpy in this grumpy-sunshine story. Hattie was like the Grinch, hated Christmas because she hasn’t had a good one in ages. Hattie’s had the worst December luck for more than a decade. Her latest run of bad luck was with a stalker ex boyfriend that had her moving from Texas to Washington, to get away from him. She lands a job doing PR/Marketing for the Viper’s hockey team and meets Mr. Sunshine himself, Connor. They become friends and Connor discovers Hattie’s dislike of Christmas, vowing to change her mind about the season…
I really liked the relationship development between Hattie and Connor. They start out as just friends and really spend the time learning about each other without the pressure of anything else. They had such good chemistry! Hattie was such a hoot with her southern accent and slang! Underneath all that Christmas grump, she really wanted to believe in the magic of Christmas. Connor was a real stand-up guy. (You’ll understand better when you read this book,) and had such fond memories of Christmas with his family. He had a love for the season and went out of his way to include Hattie in his traditions. There’s a lot of funny, heartwarming and jovial events in this story but there’s also a bit of a dark twist! The support characters were a riot! I loved the family atmosphere with the hockey team and the different personalities of all Connors friends/teammates. (I’m hoping Rizzo gets his own book in the future?) The found family trope his hard in this story. The spice was sizzling, too!
I’m glad I took a leap of faith with K.D. Miller and read this book. I’m becoming less of a Grinch myself, when it comes to Christmas novels. This was a great read and I’m hoping there are more Viper’s Sin Bin novels in the future.
I received an advance reader copy and am leaving my review voluntarily.
I was given the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this book. Thank you, K.D. Miller and team for choosing me.
I really enjoyed this book! This book is wow! The characters were great together, Hattie and Conner. Hattie gets a job with the Viper Sin Bin Hockey team, trying to get away from her psycho ex-boyfriend. she meets Conner (the goalie). It was nice to read about a different player other than the main lineup. They hit it off right away, becoming friends. You think that the ex was gone for good, yeah, right think again. I couldn't put this book down when I reached the midway part. In the last couple of chapters, I was on the edge of my couch yelling at my book. This is a slow-burn, suspenseful, funny hockey romance . Go get this book once it comes out because it's hockey, who doesn't love a good hockey book.
If you love holiday romances and love hockey romances…this book is for you! I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book and I am so glad I did! This checked all the boxes for me! ✅Hockey ✅Holiday ✅Single Dad ✅Grumpy/Sunshine ✅Snowed In ✅Crazy Stalker Ex…and more!
I just love the story between Hattie and Connor and need more of them. When Connor and Hattie become friends with an instant connection, he is determined to make Hattie love the month of December and Christmas! As they spend more and more time together as best friends…it turns into so much more. Add in the element of the crazy stalker ex and you are in for a wild and heartwarming ride.
This is my second ARC read for an author. I enjoy doing ARC reads because it gives me a chance to honestly review books for someone who is eager to hear my opinion.
I liked this book. I enjoyed reading Hattie and Connor’s story. I definitely felt my heart wrenching a few times when I would read about the various things they went through. I also resonated with her when she had issues with her ex. I loved how easy Connor and Hattie’s relationship was with each other. Gave me all the Christmas feels.
I really enjoyed this read! It was a friends to lovers story, and this was the first holiday read I’ve done in a while, so that was definitely a nice touch :) The end of this book also ended up being more of a thriller type which definitely pulled my attention!
This follows Hattie and Connor. Hattie has been offered a job far away from Texas with the Seattle Vipers as a Media and Marketing manager. She is new in town and with the Southern accent that charms the people around her, in this case, the handsome goalie of the Vipers Connor. One thing is clear Hattie has never enjoyed Christmas and Conner is determined to change her mind.
I enjoyed this book. Such a feel-good, funny holiday romance with a little suspense added in there. Lots of Southern terminology which the author added a little list in the back which I appreciated. I love how Hattie opened up to Conner when snowed in about her past. I felt it was the perfect time to come clean about it. The tension between these two just built which I loved. Ollie is a great kid and enjoyed it when she popped up in the book.
I felt the Southern terms were great just too much personally for me. I wish we got more Ollie at the end she kind of dropped off but overall enjoyed the storyline and characters.

This is a roller coaster of emotion. I loved every second of it. The slow build up of feelings between Conner and Hattie had me at the edge of my seat waiting for them to tell each other how much they loved each other. I loved Hattie’s southern charm and Conners golden retriever/reformed playboy vibes. The plot was 10/10. Definitely one of the best books I’ve read so far! Thank you for the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this❤️
Loved this book! The build was amazing you really fell in love with characters. This was my first hockey book and I definitely will be reading more! The spicy scenes were really great too!
'Todo lo que puedo ver es a Hattie. Es como durante los juegos. Todo lo demás se calma a mi alrededor, se vuelve un poco borroso y todo lo que puedo ver es el disco. Se convierte en mi único enfoque, mi único propósito. En esos momentos en el hielo, es lo único que importa. Y aquí, en este momento, Hattie es lo único que importa.'

Puck the Holidays de K.D. Miller
Argumento:
So, I have to start off by saying this was my first read by K.D. Miller and I absolutely cannot wait to see what she has up her sleeve next.
This book is one that I will hold close to my heart for a long time. From the incredible characters to the storyline and plot twists, I would not change a thing about this story.
Hattie is a true southern Belle that needs to get away from her current life & ends up moving to Seattle to become a media and marketing person for the Vipers hockey team. And she instantly becomes the southern little sis of their franchise. They love to give her head about her southern accent and make fun at her exploration of things. And she likes to learn all of their hockey slang and take “test” to show she has learned the way of the game.
Hattie (FMC) Instantly becomes best friends with Connor (MMC) & they grow the best of friendships. They have a lot of family similarities and are able to connect on a deeper level. He also becomes very protective of her and I adore this about him. Their friendship/relationship is very beautiful and makes my heart pitter patter. You must read to find out how this story goes!…. It’s a MUST READ.
The character development, storyline and plot twist are done perfectly. The throwbacks to childhood books, movies, etc. make me feel so much more connected to the book also. Love all of that.
Thank you to the author and pr team for allowing me to read an eARC in return for my honest review.
I normally don’t read hockey romances but I’m starting to get into them. This was the third one I’ve read and so far my favorite. Love the whole reverse grumpy/sunshine trope. Having the girl be the one who doesn’t like Christmas. I totally understand her reasoning. I love this book so much. It’s a slow burn, spicy, cute, fun and some suspense towards the end. I was hooked right away and loved every moment of the book.
I love Hattie and Conner together. They became friends so fast and love the banter between them. They are so cute!! I love how great he is with Olie too! He such a handsome, sexy and had a beautiful heart. He is a great book boyfriend!!
If you enjoy the tropes, friends to lovers, grump/sunshine, holiday romance and hockey romance? This is for you!!
Hope to see the other Vipes get their girls too. 😍😍
- Hockey Christmas Romance with a main male character with tattoos and INTERESTING piercings ?
Ya sold me ladies and gentleman. I buckled up and went for the ride.
The plot was actually plotting - I rly enjoyed the story. Trigger warnings should be checked * It did go 0-100 real quick but the dramatic effect had me crushing the last 50 pages.
Loved all of the characters. Hattie I just wanted to hug. Connor I wanted a lot of other things 🥵 hahah 😅 the side characters were so likeable.
I wanted a dash more Christmas 🤶🏼
A sprinkle more of spice would have been good. But the slow burn was GOOOOOD.
Overall I enjoyed this. I would definitely recommend for lovers of sports romance and people looking for Christmas books🎄
Who doesn’t love a good hockey romance with a side of Christmas? I really loved this arc and I need a second book!
Hattie leaves an abusive relationship to move to Seattle to help with Social Media for the hockey team the Vipers. Connor “Shep” Shepherd and Hattie have a connection from day one and become the best of friends. They go back and forth fighting their feelings for each other until they finally give in. This is a slow burn but oh so worth the wait! Plot5/5 ⭐️ Spice 2.5/5 🌶️
(4.5⭐️) I love a grumpy holiday hater who slowly gets persuaded to see the magic of Christmas. This reverse grumpy x sunshine was a great read and the slow burn was worth the development of their relationship. After Hattie's horrible ex would not leave her alone, she left town and the state for a great opportunity with the social media team for the Vipers hockey team. Who doesn't want to make flirty thirst traps all day with hunky hockey players? Along comes Connor who is instantly smitten, but knows Hattie has her walls up, so a deep and meaningful friendship is built with shared secrets and late night phone calls. The sweetness of their friendship made the spice of the their relationship all the more potent. An overall great read that had me on the edge of my seat when Hattie's ex makes an unwelcome appearance but Connor will stop at nothing to protect the woman he has come to love.
My. God. Where can I find a Connor? I need one. K.D. has this knack for making these characters so real and not unrealistic like some authors. It's one of my favorite things about all of her books. Not only that, but the humor and sweetness and the dirty... just... So. Good.
I have said this before, but if she writes it, I'm going to read it. I have never been one to pick up a sports romance, but she wrote it, so I did. And she did not disappoint.
If you enjoy the friends to lovers, both of them having a past of some sort, I highly recommend. If you enjoy hockey players with some REAL fun surprises when clothes come off, I highly recommend. If you just enjoy something cute, sweet, and spicy, I highly recommend.
I was fortunately given a copy of this as an ARC, thank you to KD Miller and her team for giving me early access!
This was a 3.5 star read! I liked it enough; it gave me everything I wanted in a hockey romance and the banter was great. I didn’t love the writing style to start out with, it seemed a little early draft/young adult in style for my liking, but after the third chapter Miller found her stride and it got better!
This was a quick read; I read it in one sitting. I liked Hattie and Connor’s dynamic and I enjoyed the fact that their relationship was strong and the book’s conflict didn’t come from deception on behalf of either of the MCs. The plot was relatively predictable (you figure out how it’ll work out within the first third of the book), but it was still fun. It had light spice (I’d say like a 2.5/5 compared to some of the things I’ve read before). I wouldn’t say this book is a full out Christmas/holiday book because the Christmas aspect isn’t the main focus, but you definitely get a little of the Christmas cheer from it since it does take place during the holidays.
If you’re looking for a quick, light read to get you into the holiday spirit, I’d highly recommend!
This is a very good Holiday book. It is a slow burn but very good and gets u to know bout hockey, too. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait for book 2 to know what happens with them and the others. If u haven't read this book yet and u love hockey romance and slow burn books but a very good plot and a roller coaster ride of emotions, ur gonna love this book.
Predicable, but it was okay. I liked how Hattie and Connor built their friendship first, before exploring their attraction. I wasn’t entirely sure why at first, he was coy about raising his niece, though.
Tropes
Hockey romance Workplace romance Cinnamon roll mmc with a dirty mouth Christmas novella
OMG!! Connor and Hattie are the best live story I’ve read in a while! The slow burn was absolute torture- and having dual POV the whole time just waiting for one of them to make a move! Ugh! So good! K.D. Miller is quickly becoming one of my top authors!!
I made it a couple pages in and I don’t really like the writing style. The first paragraph was written like a text message. I don’t care for that. Maybe I’ll try again, but that was such a turn off for the book.
Such a fun quick read! I am usually not a fan of holiday romance books but this one was an exception! The characters were fun and lovable. The story had a great flow, kept my attention really well, and had a good amount of spice! Definitely an all around 4.5 star read! I would definitely recommend reading this for a fun holiday friends to lovers romance
I received this book as an ARC with the promise to review
I received this as an ARC. I loved the story, I typically don’t care for friends to lovers but she did this one right! I can’t wait to read more from her!
