A Treacherous Proposition

Rate this book
HE TRUSTED NO ONE

And that was his strength until murder linked his life with that of the victim's widow. Now Vincent, Earl of Lonsdale, found himself drawn to the haunting vulnerability displayed by Lady Diana Corby. Truly, this was his soul mate! But could she ever really accept him, a man who daily bedded down with deception and danger?

Though secrets and lies beset her at every turn, Diana Corby would do whatever she must to protect her children even if it meant allying herself with Lord Vincent. He might be a man wrapped in a mantle of mystery, but she couldn't turn down his offer of protection or the shelter of his arms!

Ms. Rowell seems to write on the 'dark' side of this genre. Although I prefer a more light and fun book, her stories are always interesting and normally hold my interest. This story bordered more on the suspense/mystery than the romance. It is one of those stories that either (or both) the H or H have a secret. For some inane reason each refuse to confide it to the other even though it would help solve the mystery. I don't even think this secret when divulged would have solved the mystery more quickly. In fact, the waiting for the "divergence!" was tedious. I started 'skip, skip, skipping'. This hero was in one of the earlier books of this Harlequin series so it was good to see how he fared.

Ho hum, the heroine is lame and the hero totally unbelievable. Other than that, OK.
