Leah Steele grew up with sunshine and beaches, but now lives in the Midwest. She’s an awkward introvert who’s better left alone until she’s had her morning cup of coffee. If you can’t find her behind her laptop or a kindle, there’s a good chance she’s on a hiking trail taking scenic photos, or traveling around America.

A generous 3 stars after that silly ending.

I enjoyed the first book, mostly, but this one annoyed me quite a bit. Fundamentally, there didn't really feel like a proper storyline, it just sort of meandered and then jerked from one thing to the next.

Also, I appreciate there is a massively dark side to the show business industry, but I begun to find it all a bit gratuitous and ridiculous, which made me feel like I couldn't take the story seriously.

It is also a shame more time wasn't given to develop the guys before their cardboard cut out character types, considering 80% of the book was just them and their relationship. I also wasn't keen on the addition of Darius - I don't really know why that needed to happen. And the whole Tristan storyline was completely random.

I will probably read the next one, just out of curiosity, but this annoyed me more than it didn't.

⭐️Warning this review has some spoilers ⭐️

Enjoying the story, not the cliffhanger aspect but the underlying story … but had to roll my eyes at some of the aspects of this entire storyline. Also why couldn’t Tristan reach out to his friends — did his iPhone suddenly lose all the cloud data?

A lot of cliche aspects to the story including:

Also I don’t trust Darius and hopefully Tristan will be allowed to rejoin HIS band.

I am invested in the series after reading books one and two so I will likely read book three. Let’s hope it’s more realistic and all these unnecessary storylines are neatly resolved.

Idk really didn’t like this one and it was hard to get through. Why was it so hard for Tris to contact anyone? Is he not friends with any of the guys private socials or their families or anything?? That was ridiculous. Also can’t trust Darius the bits that tried to make him charming just made him seem like a creep. The next book will just be the guys searching for Raina and we still won’t actually get any meaningful scenes of Tris and Raina together. Also if i were any of the other guys I would have raged when she decided to fake date D over any of them.

Wow ok this book went by quick and before I knew it I was yelling how could Leah do this to us! Yeah that cliffhanger was brutal!

Will you be #𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐮𝐬 or #𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧?

I am #teamwhychoose all the way but Keaton still holds number one because this man says and does all the right things. I really enjoyed this one you get the perfect blend of spice and plot with the suspense and intensity that kept it interesting throughout the book. We get to see Raina take things to the next leave with her band mates and her found family. With their support she finds her strength to stand up for herself and find her voice against the injustice. There was some twist thrown in I didn’t see happening. I loved this second book and NEED the next one!!

One of my favorite micro tropes is always when the MMC takes care of is girl pampering is a swoon moment.

I loved Raina's development in this one after the rock bottom we saw her at in the previous book. Seeing Raina recognise what real support and family looks like was such a breakthrough with her completely understandable trust issues. I like how the relationships are evolving, both separately and together, in the group and just hope there is room for two more after everything that has happened.

I don't normally like character separation but I really enjoyed the use of Tristan and his journey in the book too as he has so much to make up for. I really didn't see the twist with where he has been coming and I'm interested to see what he makes of Darius. The use of social media was really clever too; I'm on team-keep-them-both and if Uncle D makes one of them go work with Carmen I'll be devastated! She is the worst.

I was absolutely thrilled when Isabella appeared; how Alyssa is still there is beyond me. I loathe that character even more so than Mr Lexington and cannot wait to see what the author comes up with for her in the next book.

The cliffhanger though - absolutely no spoilers but make sure your kindle is insured as you will want to throw it!

My interpretation of the star system;
3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again
4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series
5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read

Ok, book 2 had a lot of potential, and I feel like.book 2 was a great book for Raina. She is slowly pulling away from the tozic grasp of her label and uncle. The guys are with her every step of the way, helping her and protecting her. Im so happy. ahw has Izzy and gill now because her old.ma ager is disgusting. You see some.grear.secy scenze with all the boys. Nah and Blake started getting bi curious. It's all a great time. The Tristan plot is where this could have been better. I understand what the author was doing, but also, we really couldn't get Tristan with them sooner. And I felt like the search for him was weird. I understand because he was such a hole thats why they think he left, but even his friends didn't try....I like dare and the way he was obessed with her. I knew immediately he was there for the right reason. I also think the blake story like got worse. I love it when he is dominate but his weirdness with his glasses is weird, and now he's uncomfortable because of his huge D*ck. I laughed because i was like, "His is his plot line. Especially since you have Keaton with bring pretty much mute and qe never really know aboythijg about why Nash is broken so I thought this was very silly and unwanted. The cliffhanger was annoying since she should never be alone and hasn't been the whole time. Hopefully, she wraps this back better.

thank you Leah Steele for the opportunity to ARC read Riffs That Ruin 🎤🎶🎸🗒️

”But I’ll fight for her, and if that means crawling through hell to do it, I’ll burn every inch of the way.”

HAHAHAHA i don’t know why i didn’t think the cliffhanger of this book was going to leave me emotionally damaged 🥲

this book picks right up from where we left off in book one and oh Raina girl, am i ready for you to get your HEA with your guys.

there’s so much mystery around where Tristan is but also can Raina trust her new guitarist, Darius, or is he a spy for her uncle?

but this time around, Raina has the support of her guys while she begins to take back control of her life and career. at every turn you get to see them support her and remind her they’re in her corner, and in Keaton’s case literally behind her or in front of her to protect her.

”Repeat after me. I am Raina Lexington. A brilliant, bad@ss b!tch who lets no man diminish her.”

this books picks up on the spice but also the relationship between Raina and Blake. i cannot wait for the last book to see how it all comes together.

“Are you willing to fight against the darkness trying to get you down, or are you going to cower in its shadow?”

It keeps getting better! The first book in this series literally wrecked me while reading and it seems that book two is slowly putting my pieces back together. I adored this book. So much support in this one that was severely lacking in the previous book. Raina has been through enough terrible events in her life with people that didn't treat her the way she should have been treated, from family to friends to people of a professional standpoint. I was so happy to see people start to see the real Raina, everything that she has made to keep hidden due to her pop persona or because of all the crazy rumors floating around about her. Things feel like they are starting to look up. Raina has the guys who love her, her new manager that is going above and beyond to make sure Raina isn't taken advantage of, and her unwavering fans that support her no matter what. I know the road ahead isn't going to be an easy one, but all of this positivity is going to help counterbalance some of it. Raina's uncle is going to slip up, he already has a little bit. My guess is when he does, it's going to be a doozy. More people are watching and noticing things that just don't add up and they are going to catch everything as it falls. I can't wait for justice to be served.

This book really shows Raina becoming stronger and more confident in herself. She's finally realizing (with the help of a new character) that she doesn't have to sit back and let the world believe what the label (aka her jerk uncle) is telling them about her. She wants to show them who she really is, and I'm SO here for that! I absolutely loved watching her character growth.

It's amazing to watch her relationship with each guy progress. They're proving that she can count on them and they will always have her back. Tristan is MIA. What happened to him?! Where is he?! After how he acted toward Raina in the first book I didn't think it'd be possible, but I miss him! Like, I'm freaking dy!ng to find out the mystery behind his disappearance. And I cannot wait for the groveling to begin!! It will have to be epic!

I'm seriously torn between needing the next book ASAP and wanting to wait a long time to read it. I'm excited for the conclusion and to see how Leah wraps it all up, but I also don't want to say goodbye to the story or the characters!

Also.. that ending.
THAT. FREAKING. ENDING.
That is all I'll say about that.

Keaton is my personal favorite of the guys, but they are all dreamy! Keaton will always protect and cherish Raina, Blake and his sweetness had me giggling and kicking my feet, Nash and his sunshine and dirty mouth had me drooling and Tristan.......I fell soooooo hard for him in this one!!! And Darius!?!?!? HELLO!!!! I can't wait for more of him!

And that twist!!! Wow!!!! I just have no words!!!

Riffs that Ruin by Leah Steele
(Book 2 in Survival Records series)

•Rockstar
•Why Choose
•Fake Dating
•Forced Proximity
•Friends > Enemies > Lovers
•Second Chance
•Trigger Warnings!!! (please check them! They are HEAVY)

Book 1, Lyrics That Burn, absolutely consumed and destroyed me. I’ve been reeling for more and finally got it! Well, kinda… Leah sure takes pleasure in putting us through an emotional blender and leaving us with endless questions. Which is where I’m at. Like huh? Why? What? WHAT?!?!?

I really don’t want to say much because I don’t want to spoil anything for those who haven’t finished book 1, but we do see another man come into Raina’s life (friend, foe, bf?), we see some positive changes come about for this poor girl who has been put through the ringer, we see some kindle melting spice (I’ll be reminiscing about that for awhile), but then… BUT THEN!!! Oof… come stress with me until the final book comes out! I have a feeling book 3 might just make my kindle explode.

Happy reading y’all!

Oh my...

Buckle up and get ready. Raina is back! And this second book is going to stir up so many emotions.

So the first book ended in with a cliffhanger. Tristan found himself in a dangerous place and the rest of the band had no idea. I'm pleased that the author didn't just let readers off the hook. Tristan is missing and the band is trying to find him, but Raina's uncle insists on bringing in a new guy to take Tristan's place. Distrust can't be helped, but Dare is hard to resist.

I don't want to ruin anything for readers so I'll just say that it was great to see Raina and the guys really coming together as a unit. They are really great and supportive. Especially with Carmen and her uncle trying to steal Raina's career. But the best part was seeing Raina learning to stand up for herself and open up. Bonus, readers get to learn more about Blake. And maybe see a little more of Nash flirting. Enjoy the silent communication between Raina and Keaton.

Warning another huge cliffhanger will leave you screaming for just a few more pages. I need the next book right away. This is such a great series!

I just finished the first book and was thrilled to learn that the second book was coming out in a couple of days. That cliffhanger was tough, and this story begins with Raina, Nash, Keaton, and Blake concerned and searching for Tristan. Raina explains to the group that the scene they witnessed between her and Tristan wasn’t what they had imagined.

Raina is a survivor, and I admire her strength and her unwavering love for her fans. She understands her limits with addiction and remains steadfast in her decision to stay away. As their relationship with each other deepens, I find their interactions with one another to be incredibly engaging.

We discover the truth behind Tristan’s disappearance and witness his gradual works his way back to Raina and the band. Tristan’s journey will be challenging, as his faces opposition from those who are determined to keep them apart. From the very beginning, this story captivated my attention, and I couldn’t put it down until the very end.

Omg!!!! I am so happy to be back in this universe! I love Raina so much and this book was soo fantastic in showing not only her fans (in book) but also her fans (out of book) how amazing and incredible strong she is. Reading the journey and progress she made from being a sad broken girl with what felt like the world against her to finding strength and vulnerability and the brave willpower to stand up to know only the toxic industry she is trapped in but show her fans the real her! As much as I love Raina, I love her men just as much. As always Keaton is my favorite silent protector and being able to see even more of that protectiveness in this book had me blushing and giggling. Blake also opening up more and Nash as always being be golden retriever boyfriend!! And the new guy Darius, I’m really loving that he is there for her, hoping that it stays that way. Still haven’t forgiven Tristan but it’s getting there.
I loved everything about this book and cannot wait for the next!!

OOooOf! The first book in this series left me wanting so much more and this book well this one is doing the same thing😅 I adored this book. This book has been much more fulfilling though! Raina has been through the wringer with sh!t people that didn't treat her the way she should have been treated/ needed to be treated. It was a breath of fresh air to meet the real Raina- not the one she acts like in front of the camera so to say. Things are definitely looking up, they have too RIGHT!? Raina has a better standing with the guys who adore her, a new manager that is actually watching her six, and her fans, because they for sure matter to her and her mental health ( my opinion as an outside person looking in). I really can’t say much else without it feeling like a spoiler, plus I like to keep y’all on your toes, peak your interest without giving it away! That’s 100% Leah’s job and she KILLS IT🥳

This book had some plot issues. Mostly that in and of itself, there really wasn't one. The action seemed to move along quickly, and then suddenly things were over.

The biggest issue that I have is Tristan trying to get ahold of them again. Even if you don't have the phone numbers saved to the cloud, you can still reset all your passwords, if necessary, to get email or other messenger programs back up.

This book succumbed to the middle book in a trilogy fate of not much really going on. For the most part, so much of it just felt like filler. Not having even read the last book in the trilogy, I can tell right away that this could have been a duet.

And something else I really don't like with multi-book RH is introducing new people into the group in later books. Now we have Darius joining the other 4 guys.
I will admit, though, I did suspect him all through this book, too,

I will move on to the fila book left.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Choose your side, #teamdare or #teamtristan just know I'm 100% #teamraina.

After the cliffhanger in book #1, I was ready to dive into this book head first—and man, I wasn’t disappointed.

Keaton, Nash, and Blake rise to the occasion and with their support, Raina finds strength to stand firm against her uncle and his latest project. This found family will undoubtedly go down as one of my top favorites.

Tristan had me in a chokehold this book. Between his determination, ability to admit his wrongs, and his love for Raina even from afar, I was ready to forget why I was mad at him in the first place.

Darius was an introduction I wasn't expecting and I'll be honest, I was giving him a major side eye 👀 but—he grew on me.

The cliffhanger in this one got me good. I was ready to throw my phone into the next dimension! With that said, I am dying to know what happens next.

DNF a few chapters after Tristan’s disappearance. This book had my adrenaline, anxiety and frustration run so high after a few chapters, with a constant influx of anxiety because it kept adding to the helpless feeling and the MC’s not taking the reins on anything, that my nervous system was all over the place. I started skimming through the book to see if it got better somewhere and seeing if it was worth it to read it. Seeing that the whole book is one anxious mess keeping my adrenaline and feelings of helplessness skyhigh, without actually getting somewhere in the end of the book, and the added potential source of betrayal by another guy, I chose to stop investing my time and energy in this book.
It might be me, being triggered too much to take this read as just another book to entertain me, but me body absolutely disliked this.

OMG 🤯🤯🤯 This was such a wild, chaotic, passionate, emotional, and touching continuation of Raina’s journey. Full of suspense & twists and turns that will keep you so invested in where Leah’s leading you. Right off the CLIFF 😭 That’s right where she took us lol, but I would happily go again & again if it means we’re FINALLY gonna get to see everyone get their HEA in the next book. I’m so ready for all that Leah has in store for us 🙌🏻 If you love whychoose romance with rockstars, friends-enemies-lovers, second chances, and bi-awakenings, then this is your story right here. As soon as you read Lyrics That Burn, you’ll be ready for this amazing story. You won’t be sorry 😉❤️

3.5 stars. This book continued the turbulent and raw experience of traumatised popstar Raina, and her bandmates, with increasing WC/RH spice. There’s a major turning point as the FMC - buoyed by her supportive ‘found family’ - starts to reclaim some control over her life and music career, and rediscover her resilience. But I didn’t appreciate the introduction of a certain new character (D)… I’d have preferred learning more about the guys already in the picture (we’ve had next to nothing about their backstories).
I enjoyed this and am looking forward to book three’s release (especially after that cliffhanger), but I’m hoping it offers more growth rather than amping up the drama for drama’s sake.

OMG!!! What a cliffhanger! I can’t believe that I have to wait for book 3 to find out what happens next. I absolutely loved this next instalment of Raina & her men. Seeing her, Keaton, Blake & Nash all become closer and how they will take care of her however they can is heartwarming. As much as I didn’t want to I couldn’t help but feel sorry for Tristan and although I haven’t forgiven him yet, I’m glad to see he’s trying to find his way back to them. Darius was a great addition to the story and I liked the mystery around him and his motives, as well as the chemistry sizzling away between them in the background. A fantastic read that I couldn’t put down!

Passion, tension, heart ache and danger will keep you reading!

Leah’s Riffs That Ruin is a thrilling continuation of Raina’s story. From the first page, I was hooked! Raina’s strength and resilience grow stronger as she navigates complex world with the unwavering support of Blake, Keaton, and Nash.
The addition of Dare adds an exciting new dynamic to the group, while the thought of Tristian keeps the tension high. The explosive ending will leave your jaw dropping and begging for more. If you loved the first book, you won’t want to miss this addictive sequel! Can.not.wait.for.book.3!!!

I was so excited to read Riffs That Ruin, book 2 in the Survival Records series! I had been "patiently" waiting for it after the cliffhanger from book 1!!

This author knows just how to keep you on the emotional razors edge with the issues Raina faces, and her past that's still mostly hidden in the dark from those she loves. These characters are flawed, insecure, possessive, and determined to make their world more secure. In a rockstar's life, that seems pretty hard to do!

This book pulled me in quickly and held my attention to the very last page. I highly recommend this book, but I would suggest reading book 1, Lyrics That Burn, it really needs to be read first. I would also suggest you check the trigger warnings as there are some situations that may be triggering.

Whyyyy.....

I loved reading Riffs and Ruin. I could not put it down, and I loved the characters and world building. Keaton is still my favorite. I can't say that Darius is my fave, I don't dislike him I just don't fully trust him. I really liked how it kept you on the edge of your seat.

I love a good why choose series and I can't wait to read book 3, Melodies That Bind. Both book 1 and 2 end on cliffhangers that leave you on the edge of your seat wanting to read the next book!

This is more for 18+ readers as there is some content that isn't suitable for some readers. Make sure to mind the trigger warnings. I loved reading this series and highly recommend it!

Holy this part of the series was intense. So much happens I'm not even sure what to say, except I'm dying for the next part. Raina and her boys, they have this connection I'm not sure anyone else understands. Each gives her heart a different healing patch. This girl has been thru so much pain in her life, it's about time she finds her family in these men, and finally has someone on her side. There's definitely a few twists and turns that happen here, but those I will not reveal. What a great emotional intense series this is.

Holy Smokes there is a LOT happening in this book! Raina finally has her family and support system, however, things with Tristan are still a giant question mark. We meet a new character as well, that seems to turn everything topsy turvy. I do really like them, though! I adore the addition of Raina's legal team as well. The time of being used and run over is close to being over for her. Raina is slowly but steadily healing and I love the transformation I'm seeing for her. The cliffhanger is rough though!

This is just as good, perhaps better than the first book in this series. The cliffhanger leaves me wanting more definitely. I am not over it for sure but I do love that the guys support our girl Raina and she's finally having people in her corner. Now that Tristan is missing her uncle insists on bringing in a new guy. A guy you nearly can't help but like. Could he bring in something good? The trust issues I totally understand. I love how it all pans out and won't ruin the story but it's all coming together in the end.

Get ready for one wild ride, because Raina and her men are back in the Survival Records book two.

With the cliffhanger at the end of book one, we’re left wondering where Tristian is. Distrust blossoms in the air, as Raina’s uncle insists on bringing in someone to replace Tristian. But Darius is hard to resist….

I enjoyed seeing Raina and the rest of her guys coming together and being supportive. With so many things up in the air, it was great to see Raina start to take her power back and stand up for herself.

Of course the cliffhanger at the end of this book will have you screaming. So far the series is amazing and I’m eagerly anticipating the next.
