A compelling novel
Anyone who reads any kind of memoir has always something to think about; memoirs tend to leave a message to readers. In "Surviving is such a joy", readers will find interesting the way Tony De Angelis put into words his experiences throughout his life. He has gone through different situations that molded his personality and his attitudes in life. One of them was his experience when he joined the army and the places where he served. Also, he mentions his passion for politics and how some of his relationships lead him to meet important people from that area.
It’s an engaging reading since it’s told as if it were a journal, with details and anecdotes that helped me to follow this life story. It's a concise, well-written novel worth the while.

Awesome memoirs.

It is a complete revelation. I have read a lot of things about World War II, the Cold War and similar events but I had never stopped to think about the personal story of who lived it.
Surviving is a Joy: A Memoir by Tony De Angelis is much more than an engaging life story filled with action and adventure. It is a story of resilience, conviction and belief. It talks about how Tony could find the energy and inspiration to move forward even in the worst circumstances.
The book has some parts of the narrative that are really hard, even shocking, but they are also inspiring and admirable. I honestly liked to read these memoirs.

In this book, we join De Angelis’ reminisce of his service in the Army when he was just an adolescent, serving in both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

In this memoir, he recounts all the events that make the life of a soldier by conviction unique. The fact that the word ‘joy’ is in this book’s title is not just because.

He was inspired by the brave American heroes that fought during WWII, and this memoir can inspire others to do the same now or in the future.

His words resonate smoothly in our ears. He includes letters, photographs, and dates which help us follow his life through. It is written as if it was a diary.

A very particular story about the life of the author himself. A very complex life from an early age, marked by wars and international political conflicts. After serving for two decades in the military he found success in a political career.

It is a really engaging story, at times it allowed me to reflect on international political conflicts and how they affect different societies so much. The author's vision together with all his experience and the way he communicates his ideas left me very satisfied and that is why I recommend this book. This reading is especial for calm moments in which the reader can dedicate enough time to make the most of each paragraph
