Overmorrow
It's the mid-18th century and the world of Overmorrow is troubled by the mysterious condition, The Sepia, which causes sufferers to disappear to an unknown place, gone from the visible world.
Foxy Raine is working on her parents’ farm when her father, Almus, a prominent Handfacturing engineer, contracts the condition in Town; her world is shattered and she watches in horror as The Sepia slowly consumes him.
Foxy watches her father's last moments with her family as he disappears before their eyes like many others before him. She decides to channel her grief into discovering why this has happened. Her quest will take her around the world, where she will meet an array of people from different walks of life, confronting corruption and other social issues of the day, determined to make a difference.
Overmorrow is heavily influenced by Danny Boyle's 2012 London Olympic Opening Ceremony which formed the backdrop for a story which gradually began to write itself.

Anselm Rajah has great potential to build on Overmorrow as the premise was exceptionally good.
The world of Overmorrow is overrun with a condition called the Sepia which causes people to disappear, gone from the known world. The strong FMC Foxy Raine's world is shattered when her father is consumed by the Sepia right before her eyes. Foxy embarks on a quest to establish why the Sepia is taking over and to hopefully, save her father
The only thing I struggled with at times was the dialogue and I was expecting more of a steampunk vibe, otherwise, the narrative is sound and the book has great potential

Books are as much about the plot as they are about the atmosphere and the emotions the prose stirs in the reader. Unfortunately this books stirs little to no emotion in me when I read it. The style is explaining to the reader everything that is going on in incredibly factual language and it leaves no mystery, no emotion.
I feel nothing for the main characters. In fact, it’s almost like the book is written like a video game would be played out — same flat dialogue, same wooden actions. They don’t seem to have any facial expressions, which is quite unsettling.
The POVs are jumbled and hard to follow and the story is unfortunately badly paced. All in all, it’s quite hard to read and get something out of.

Overmorrow's best feature is its intriguing plot. It involves a fantastical mystery where people contract a mysterious illness called the Sepia and disappear into another dimension. Foxy decides to investigate after losing her father, recruits friends on her journey, and strives to unravel the truth about it all.
The story highlights the dangers of industry. I enjoyed its steampunk vibe, intelligent themes, and vibrant cast of characters. The pace is relatively good as Overmorrow's various moving parts come together, culminating in a satisfying conclusion.
Overmorrow's downside is its unpolished narration, including clunky dialogue, redundant descriptions, and a slack plot. These issues occur throughout the book, impacting its overall immersion and flow. A good round of professional line and developmental editing would have helped.
Ultimately, this is a clever and occasionally sweet book that, sadly, didn't quite reach the potential I expected.

Overmorrow does everything it promises and I really enjoyed the premise, the characters and the world-building. That being said I won’t be able to rate it higher than 3 stars as the writing style was not great and I consistently felt as though I was being over explained to - there were points I almost gave up and I think this book could have been half the length and it would have told the story even better.

A mysterious illness is spreading through the people and they disappear from sight in front of people’s eyes. Her father gets it and she watches as he disappears and she will do whatever she can to find a way to stop it. See just what she will find out

Good book, with some strange writing quirks. The spacing/thought breaks seem randomly placed. It also used some strange terms I was unfamiliar with but with the style of writing, I wasn't sure if it was made up terms or actual terms from another country I'm unfamiliar with.

I enjoyed the idea of this book. It’s well written. It moved slowly in a few places, but it’s an overall good book.
