Relationship it’s complicated.
Being ghosted by the love of your life sucks. Zero out of ten, do not recommend.
One day, we’re exchanging rings and picking honeymoon destinations, and the next, Emery is just…gone.

A year later, as I'm forcing myself to move on, I bump into him.
While my brothers would love to find creative ways to get the truth out of Emery, I just want answers.

When it becomes clear Emery isn't lying about losing his memory in a car accident, I have a choice to make.
Do I let him go or try to win him back?

The Lost Fiancé Twist is book one in Ana Ashley's new series featuring the charming and far-too-handsome-for-their-own-good Spencer Brothers.

Interesting premise, poor execution. The most low angst amnesia book I’ve ever read. I loved the idea for the story but the writing style was very simple. The dialogue was stilted and in general everything just felt so one dimensional. This is a new author to me, I didn’t know their history but it felt very much like an amateur debut and I was then surprised to see they have published quite a lot of books.

The Ren side plot felt like it was trying way to hard to be on trend and funny - it was really just cringey for me.

The mum is the worst villain ever, at one point her dialogue was just laughable. In the end it’s revealed she and the dad actually did really horrible things to their son but it’s never really addressed and there is no retribution for what they did. It all just ..ended happily?

I often couldn’t discern whose POV I was in and the author couldn’t even keep track of her characters - there is more than one instance of her using the the wrong mc name in the wrong POV.

There are so many plot holes. I’m all for ‘just going with it’ for a story but the way this storyline is carried out really stretches any plausible belief.

The next character set ups are so painfully obvious - I was dying for just a wee bit of subtlety.

I was extremely close to DNF’ing at the midpoint and if this wasn’t a buddy read I would have, I did find the reveal rather endearing but skimmed a lot after that.

In my opinion there are way better m/m amnesia trope stories out there

2.5 (really hard to choose between two star and three star)

When I read the blurb for this book it sounded so good I immediatly bypassed my entire tbr to start it right away which I never do. Such a bummer the execution just wasnt there because I absolutely love the plot premise and I always love a good amnesia trope book.

The writing wasnt great, it felt so stilted and clunky, especially the dialogue between characters, it just never felt like natural conversation. The writing was a bit amateur and simple.

The end was pretty sweet, but I dont like how the plots were wrapped up-
*spoilers*
especially with Emery and his parents. If an author wants to write an evil side character, I need some justice. Nothing happened, everyone just continues on as if his parents didn't do such an evil thing to him??

such a bummer because I was so excited for this!

I'm not much for writing reviews these days but I loved this book so much I had to write something.
For those of you who knows me, it shouldn't be a surprise that I loved it. I've been reading this author since she changed from her old to her new pen name and I've been loving most of her work. This however is according to me her best book to date. It's everything I love about her writing but also showing so much growth in the actual writing.

Emery and Lex got engaged but then the day after Emery disappeared. When they meet again sparks flies but Lex don't know how to bring up their past. What follows is a very sweet, very hot and at times laugh out loud story about love and forgiveness. And moving on. For being an amnesia story it's very low angst, something you know I appreciate.

I can't wait for the rest of the brothers stories.

thoughts:
➤ this book is one of my easiest wins.
➤ first time dipping into the amnesia trope and i fucking loved it!
➤ it was light and fluffy through and through.
➤ very swoony and romantic!
➤ if netflix adapted this, i know it would be a hit.
➤ some scenes are unrealistic to me..... but again it is supposed to be a light read.
➤ and by that logic, i know what to expect in the upcoming books.
➤ alexis spencer and his family are hilarious. one of the best things here.
➤ the sex scenes are sub par to what i am used to. it wasn't hot (i'm taking this seriously!)

I just couldn't with this book.
The plot sounded like something I was going to love, and I was really excited to read it, but the characters and writing just grated on me. Sorry

So, so good!
What a thoroughly entertaining read.
Loved Lex and Emery... 💖💖

Very heartwarming story, lots of feels.

Very well-written .
Great characters and awesome supporting characters.

I enjoyed how their journey progressed after meeting again. Perfect amounts of steam, tension and laughter made this an all round enjoyable read.

I really liked Lex's family. At first I thought they were going to be annoying and meddling but there was absolutely none of that.

I loved how close the brothers are, including River. I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of this series... 💙🥰💙

I was pulled in by the intriguing premise and high GR rating but should’ve known better. The idea of a very smitten fiancé who just up and disappears one day, and everyone concludes that he’s ghosted his guy instead of encountering something more dire, was every bit as hard to logically and realistically pull off as you’d expect. I made it to 50% before giving up. I didn’t DNF though, just skimmed heavily to the end so that I could see how all the crazy played out.

The storyline was shoddily executed, full of coincidences and highly improbable situations that pushed the limits of credibility and artistic license. Phones, police, social media—nothing was used with any real effort to find this guy. Everyone simply assumed he'd dumped his guy--even though he was besotted--and left without a word. The remaining fiancé couldn’t reach out to the lost fiancé’s family because he knew nothing about them, even though they had been dating for a year. Plenty more improbable, head-scratching stuff occurred but no need to elaborate.

Beyond the glaring plot holes, the MCs suffered from interchangeable POV syndrome. They were clones of each other, impossible to tell apart. And then there was the mom. I’m so over evil parents. She didn’t even get her comeuppance. Holy dissatisfaction.

Going with 1.5 stars instead of just one since I was invested enough to skim to the end, and that should count for something.

I'm not sure if I'm not a huge fan of the amnesia trope (this is my first experience with it), or if this is just a not great example of it, but there was definitely a disconnect for me that made this pretty hard to read. Every book asks for a suspension of disbelief to some extent, but my god did these idiots test the limits of mine. The premise alone was pretty hard to cope with in terms of how all the history got them to that point, but then the whole Lex dates the new Emery instead of coming clean, I know the book would be nothing without it, but it skeeved me out something fierce.

I am interested enough in the family to keep going in the next book when it comes out though. Up next is a surprise accidental and probably drunken marriage, and we all know I LIVE for that trope, so that will give me a much better idea on if I want to continue with this author, and if the problems I had with this book had to do with the trope itself or how she wrote it.

Lots of good characters in this one, but you kinda have to overlook that neither of the main characters tried very hard to find out wtf happened when Emery disappeared completely out of character. Wouldn’t his job have filed a missing persons report? How did he not run into anyone he knows in a year? Did he not think to Google himself? Did he not have a bank account or credit report that could have helped fill in some gaps? How did they get through Christmas without discussing family? etc etc. Also, .

The Lost Fiancé Twist is an adorable, unusual second chance story with a new family of men to fall in love with.
The Spencers have me. I'm already desperate to have Adam with River. I have a theory about Noah's situation, and wow, Lex and Emery were cute.
There's a lot in there but it was sweet and enjoyable. I already know I want to listen to it when the audio is available.
Lex takes his second chance to have Emery fall in love with him and just does it right. They were clearly meant to be

This was a nice reading of a second chance at love.
The whole amnesia trope was well written and I loved both MCs, Lex and Emery, they're sweet and adorable.
Lex's family is awesome and his two brothers (and River) are very interesting characters.

Emery's mother frustrated me to no end, too manipulative and cold.
I also think that Emery forgave Lex too easily: he lied to him and I don't think he really understood how paiful for him was to deal with a huge void in his life. He should have been honest before they started having sex.

Anyway, I recommend it and I look forward to read more about this series. Next books will be about Noah and his fake husband and a Christmas novella about Frederick and Ren, but I think after reading this story, everyone will be waiting for Adam to leave Vitoria and get together with River.

I was in a reading slump when I saw this book. I was instantly invested in the story.

Although the book didn't really dive that deep into memory loss,

There were some few instances where the characters' names got switched around (first time it happened I was confused for a solid minute, trying to backtrack if I was reading it right), but they weren't that bad. They could easily be overlooked and updated.

I also would've liked

I really liked this book. But I also regret reading it now because I JUST NEED THE NEXT ONE!!!!!!

Lost and Found

I’d read the blurb first for ‘ The Lost Fiancé Twist’ and wanted to read it. But I forgot the name of it and had to put out an SOS just with what I remembered of the blurb. Social media can be great, sometimes.

So, finding it is a teeny bit like Alexis and Emery’s ‘Lost and Found’ story.

Both MC’ came from families that expected them to take over the businesses founded by their parents, but neither of them wanted to do that.

Alexis and his brothers started their own business and Emery decided to be a Teacher.

I don’t recall how or where they first met, but here they are in the Botanical Gardens, with Alexis proposing to Emery, and him accepting but asking to keep it quiet until he returns from an important trip out of town.

The thing is Emery didn’t return from that trip and Alexis heard nothing, couldn’t find Emery at his apartment. The landlady said he’d moved out.

Alexis has been trying for the past year to pull himself together. His large supportive family has been trying to get him back to his old self without much success.

Walking in the Sunday Market to meet with a soon to be sister in law, Ellie, he is stunned to see she is accompanied by a man, and the man is Emery.

Emery smiles and shakes hands as if they were meeting for the first time. Alexis goes along with it, not knowing what else to do in the moment.

Nothing is as it seems as this story unfolds. The difference in the families of both MC’s is huge.

Somehow Alexis and Emery keep meeting in various places and Alexis doesn’t know how to explain to him their previous relationship. Alexis still in love with Emery, and Emery has become enamoured of Alexis, how can he tell Emery the truth. Then the matter is taken out of Alexis’s hands.
********************
Just adored these two MC’s who are made for each other. Emery is such an adorable guy who can’t get enough of his new boyfriend, Alexis. There are plenty of steamy occasions instigated by Emery.

Interfering parents arranging blind dates, brothers behaving strangely, all these side characters bringing much more to the story in unexpected ways.

I was expecting animosity and angst between the MC’s but that wasn’t the case, it became more mysterious when Emery starts having flashbacks which added a lot more depth to the story.

So happy that there are more books in this Spencer Brothers Saga. Noah is the eldest of the three Spencer sons and also the most oddly behaving one. I guess we’re going to find out just why in ‘ The Fake Husband Deal’.

Plus two frenemy side characters who featured large in Book 1, Ren and Frederick, plus the ‘succulents’ are getting a chance to explain themselves in ‘The Christmas Roommate’.

Loved the cover model who I think represents Emery and his freckles.

What’s worse than your boyfriend responding to your proposal with “Can we talk?” Said boyfriend accepting the proposal, asking to keep it a secret for a few days while he sorts out some family stuff, only to vanish into thin air, never to be seen or heard from again. Until he shows up at the farmers market a year later, when your brother’s fiancée’s sister introduces you to him, not having any idea what you used to be to each other.

Lex and Emery were in love. Emery has no idea who Lex is. A car accident completely erased his memories of the last three years, but he instantly feels a connection to Lex, and when they start seeing each other, he falls fast.

This is a sweet second chance romance, both main characters are great, and the plot was decent. There’s good tension thanks to Emery’s family who’s clearly hiding something, his mother trying to set him up with her friend’s gay son, Lex not telling Emery about their shared history prior to the accident, and Lex’s family, specifically his brothers, who know all about it. It’s low-angst, lots of spice, and I’m excited to read the stories of the other Spencer brothers!

❤️📚 Book Review: The Lost Fiance Twist by Ana Ashley 📚❤️

Just after Lex proposes to Emery, Emery falls off the face of the planet. Lex is left alone and heartbroken with so many questions he's sure he'll never get the answers to. Until one year later, he runs into Emery and is faced with a shocking truth - Emery doesn't remember him at all. There was an accident and Emery has lost the last three years of his life. Is this their second chance? Or will too many secrets cause everything to crumble?

I must admit I was apprehensive going into this one because of the amnesia trope, but I trust the wonderful Ana Ashley with my reader life, so I dove in. And you know what? I loved it! The amnesia trope was dealt with so well and I truly fell in love with Lex and Emery. The pacing of their relationship felt genuine and I loved getting to see Lex and Emery fall in love again. (Also, great news: there's no third act break up!) I'm so excited to see where this new series goes with the Spencer brothers.

Really sweet story from a new to me author

I really enjoyed this book from a new to me author. It’s an intriguing premise. I’m not quite sure how you could ask someone to marry you knowing so little about them but it’s what was needed to make the set up work. It’s such a heartbreaking yet at the same time hopeful situation.

I loved the relationship between the brothers as well as the rest of the family. Lex and Emery are characters that I immediately wanted to get their HEA. I also loved Emery’s friend Ellie. The secondary characters in the book really add a lot to the story.

I’d have preferred to see much bigger consequences for the villain of the piece. But I’m bloodthirsty like that! The ending of the book gives us quite a lead in to book two. I’m glad that I’m finding this series after it’s completed so I can binge the books all together!

5⭐️ 3 🌶

This was so fun! One day read for me, had to finish. My first book by Ana but it definitely won’t be my last. I fell in love with every side character and I really hope they each end up with their own book because I already so invested in them all.

Lex thinks he that was ghosted by his new fiancé Emery, heart broken he tries to move on, only to be introduced to him a year later where he learns that Emery was in an accident and lost the last three years of his memory and has no idea who Lex is.

I would absolutely recommend this book so glad I read it.

Meraviglioso inizio di una nuova Serie,
che secondo me, sarà troppo divertente e fantastica!! 🤩
È quello che succede ad Alexis Spencer & Emery Livingston!!

maybe I read this series completely backwards…that one was on me BUT nevertheless compared to the other books in this series this one just fell short.

( full warning that reading this series in order would maybe have different results because nothing to compare it too but i was feeling a little chaotic and read the latest book first )

This was a cute, very low-angst read. There were some circumstances of the author using the wrong character’s name and other typos that were kind of annoying. Overall, it was a little bland, but I’ll be reading the rest of the series because I’m interested in the brothers’ stories.

The Lost Fiancé Twist is the first book in the Spencer Brothers series by Ana Ashley. The Lost Fiancé Twist is the story of Emery and Lex. 1 year ago Lex asked Emery if he wanted to marry him, then Emery disappeared.

I loved their story. It was sweet, sexy, full of feels and very well written.

Arc review

3.5 stars rounded down simply because there were a lot of times where had this not been an arc, I wouldn't have finished it.

The entire premise and plot don't make any sense and I spent more time in my brain focused on that then the actual story itself. Another thing that irked me was reading the blurb and thinking I was going to read a great 2nd chance romance with loving parents meddling in (in my mind encouraging them). I expected a fun, light read despite the accident that took them apart. I guess there are all those things on Lex's side, but the majority of the book takes place in Emerys life with the worse parents ever and just enranged me alot during this book. This wasn't helped by Emery's passiveness in his situation. I stopped reading this book many times. It did get better in the end. I was going to give it 2 stars by the mid point.

What I liked:

- Great characters
- Great chemistry
- Lots of steamy scenes
- HEA (although there wasn't the conflict resolution that I felt was needed).
- Cute dates
- Cute animals (I was curious about the lizzard stamp on every chapter and it took a long time for that part to come but it was really cute)
- Found family in Lexs family and multual friends (I was more interested in Adam and River and Ren and Frederick and Noah)

Lex and Emory's story is heartbreaking, healing and full of love between the MC's and Lex's family. Losing someone the way Lex does, suddenly and with no answers must be awful but Emory has the most valid of reasons after being in a car accident that stole his memories.
Though they have spent a year apart and, for Emory at least, they start a new relationship, it's as though little time has passed and they just fit together, like it was meant to be regardless of random acts and interfering families. Both men have a lot to work through and Lex has the most supportive system in his family. Ever so nosy but there in a heartbeat if you call out a DEAFCON 1-4, alcohol included. Emory only has his new best friend, Ellie, who he works with at the school he teaches at. He currently lives with his parents where he spent time recuperating but his mother has some strange ideas on his future and what company he should keep. When he and Lex reconnect and he shares more of what he does and doesn't know, not everything adds up. I have to say, Emory's mother is a piece of work, not someone I would be able to easily forgive but Lex's family makes up for it in spades. I can't wait to see what drama Noel and Adam bring to the series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
