The Thea Sisters are going to New Zealand! Their new friend Charlotte wants to show them the sights, and introduce them to Didi, a skeleton of a bird that went extinct many years ago. But when they get to the mouseum, Didi has gone missing! Can they find the stolen skeleton before it is too late?
Another 3am review so please excuse any errors. Probably some minor spoilers too. I made it through my first Thea Stilton book. I wish I had read these as a kid because I would have absolutely loved them. This book has changed my vocabulary in multiple ways lol. It was an extremely fun and educational read. I spent a lot of time Googling while reading and learned so many new and amazing things. I highly recommend this for anyone who loves learning or fun stories.
The art was great and the characters were all so cute! Thea Stilton has Saturday morning cartoon vibes and I am loving every bit of it. It's hard keeping track of who is who sometimes because there were so many main mice in this book.(7 to be exact) Each had different and unique personalities and it never felt like the book forgot anyone. Everyone had a chance to shine in some way.
The writing wasn't consistent with the art sometimes though. Tāmati was apprently wearing a hei matau but he was never drawn wearing one. Everyone said they noticed it though. I honestly don't believe them but whatever lol. All the mouselets(mouslings?)were supposed to have backpacks to hold their flashlights but the illustration only showed the same one blue backpack. Guess their backpacks were invisible and my none rat eyes couldn't see them.😔This is all minor but it was something that bothered me.
Also I hope you like rat related puns! This book is full of em. My favorite being the swear word replacements lol. Cheese and crackers! There are so many puns. Their hair is considered fur btw. I was so confused reading a line that said a character "tied up their fur" before getting into the water.🤣
I end this review with a word of advice:If you find a random tin of mints DO NOT under any circumstances EAT or attempt to eat one. Such a bad idea. Even if you happen to be a real mouse. You still shouldn't eat them. Probably wouldn't be able to open the tin 🤔
This one was really cute, but after I finished it, I realized the only time they were in a cave was a very brief moment in the book. Why in the world was this named after the cave???
