Being saved by a rugged man is not how I planned to spend my last night in London.
He even agrees to be my fake boyfriend.
He’s everything I’m not attracted to, tall, burly and nearly twenty years my senior, but after one intense kiss, I agree to a night of fun before I return home to The Lake District, for good.
The very last person I expect to see in the sleepy village is my one-night stand, or for him to stake his claim.
What was supposed to be fun, has chased me home and threatens to ruin my family’s Christmas.
Cooper
Saving a sexy disco ball from her ex in a bar was not in my plans when visiting my friend out of town. One kiss and I’m desperate to have her to myself.
One night and I’m on my knees for her.
Imagine my luck when she appears in the small village I call home.
She wants to pretend like nothing happened, but I intend to make her fall to her knees for me.
- A rugged fireman - super attentive - daddy / praise kink - age gap - hea
I loved this Christmas novella and it surprised me because it has some elements that I usually don’t enjoy but this just hit the spot for me.
It’s a quick, steamy romance that starts with a one night stand and some complicated family dynamics. Looking at this objectively if this man was not super hot and kinky, and this was real life I expect most of us would run for the hills but oh boy did it just work in this novella.
I just want to read it all over again and fall for him again 😂
Loved the pacing in this book! The spice was spot on and so good. Everything felt so right with this couple. Age gap, one night stand, he falls first… yes yes yes!
4.75✨ Dear Santa, this year I wish for Daddy Cooper. Some of you may know I have been on the hunt for some fast-paced, spicy Christmas novellas and this one right here checks all the boxes. What happens when you put a rugged firefighter and a sassy Christmas store owner together? A sinfully hot night with tons of dirty talk and ‘good girl’. Combined with age gap, brother’s best friend and small town vibes, I promise you a very 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘦 time.
After years of working in London, Katy decided to move back to her hometown in Lake District to start her own business. She also wanted to be closer to her mom who had been very ill. On the night of her leaving party, she stumbled upon the handsome, tall and burly Cooper. He was on a night out with his friend / colleague.
They got on really well and a few witty banter quickly turned into a heart-to-heart. When Katy’s st@alker ex showed up in the same bar, Cooper swooped in to stake his claim and chased him away. I loved how protective and forward he was. Their sexual chemistry was off the charts and one kiss simply was not enough to quench their desire for one another. They ended up spending the night together. It was thrilling, explosive and so dang hot.
Cooper was not ready to let Katy go. They stayed in touch but she didn’t expect to see him so soon. Let alone in Lake District. Imagine her surprise when he showed up at her door, helping her brother move her stuff into the new place. They were actually friends. Who would’ve thought? Small world.
Though she had feelings for him, she couldn’t act on it (you’d find out why). She kept pushing him away, but he wouldn’t take no for an answer. The back and forth was angsty but also swoony. He was not one to chase after women, but for her, he’d break all his rules. The way he worshipped her, cared for her and put her before everyone else was EVERYTHING.
Overall, a great Christmas read! Hope you enjoy The Christmess as much as I did.
I love a spicy novella & when you add Christmas into the mix, I’m on my knees! Now for such a short read, you don’t miss the important points & turn arounds. Katy is moving back home because her mothers health isn’t so good, but also because she is finally opening her own business & making a name for herself. The last night she in in London for a final farewell, she runs into a man named Cooper & he rocks her world like a Daddy would. After a fantastic night she finds herself back in her hometown moving into her new apartment, but of course her brothers friends help move her in & that’s when she sees the man her sister has a huge crush on & also the man whom checked every box for Katy in the bedroom Travis Cooper. Travis won’t take no & he isn’t one to ever chase a female, but when it comes to Katy he will break every rule especially when it comes to her brother Colton, now Travis also didn’t know Katy little sister also had a crush on him, which he wouldn’t have pursued anyways because of Grant. Travis lost his wife due to a horrible accident, but he has never been able to fully embrace his true daddy self until Katy came into his life. Now when all comes out Christmas morning Daddy Travis protects his baby girl at all costs, but Laurel (Katy’s sick mom) makes it known she approves of the relationship before she hits a weakness the day after. Those last few chapters had my heart in a chokehold because we all want a Daddy Travis to come ruin us with the amazing “finishes” he gives. I knew this was going to be a good smutty Christmas read & this author hits it out of park every time!
Katy is moving back home to open her own business and to be closer to mom who is sick. But not before one last Christmas party with her friends and colleagues. There she meets Travis Cooper. The two spend a hot night together and Katy gets some new kinks unlocked in the process. So imagine her surprise when Travis is one of her brother’s friends to show up to help her move into her new place. After a disastrous time dating her brother’s friends as a teenager, she immediately puts her walls up. But Travis makes it quite clear that he wants more than one night with her. I thought this was a cute little holiday novella. I had no idea that it contained Daddy kink so I was very pleasantly surprised when that came about (I LOVE a Daddy kink ok?). The brother honestly annoyed the piss out of me like good lord let your sister make her own decisions and mind your business about who she sleeps with. He was way too overprotective in my opinion. He almost treats Katy as if it’s her fault that his ex friend was such a stalker and overall shit bag. I also wish the first sexy scene between Katy & Travis wasn’t cut short. It made their overall chemistry feel stunted.
But other than that I had a great time! And it was my first read by this author so yay! Definitely recommend.
CWs: like I said the mom is sick and is hospitalized plus has a scare at home which involves calling paramedics
What to expect: -big age gap -Daddy -small town -bondage -a very slight hint of breeding kink -brother’s friend
I am in love with Travis! I. AM. IN. LOVE. WITH. TRAVIS. COOPER! This is such a beautiful novella, it gave me happy butterflies, makes me want this type of love. Always check trigger warnings before reading. Because it has a couple of kinks and tropes that you either like or you don't.
Coop is visiting a friend in the city and gets to meet Katy at a bar, they have one very hot and heavy night together, where Katy is thinking she will never see him again and he thinks no matter what he'll make sure he sees her again. Katy is moving back to her home town to be closer to her mother who is very sick. Well they see eachother again sooner then they both thought they would. She's trying to stay away from him and he doesn't want to stay away from her. They both have their reasons and wow...
It's such a beautiful story of finding love again after loss, of finding somebody who loves you for who you are, what you like, who loves you for all that you are. The way he takes care of her, how he makes sure she is okay before everyone else. UGH please i need someone like that. Oh He takes care of her REAL GOOD, if you know what i mean, in every aspect!
I found "The Christmess" recommended in one of my book groups on FB, and let me tell you, I am so glad I read it. After the last disaster I read, this felt like a great palette cleanser, and before proceeding with the review, I want to tell you to get the book!
The novella has the perfect amount of Christmas spirit, spice and realism. I loved the main characters, Katie and Cooper, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story. Some scenes made me cringe (because of the immaturity of Katie's brother), but otherwise I really enjoyed the vibe of the book.
The dirty talk was on point, and it definitely had an effect on me (*wink, wink*). I would've loved to read more variations of 'good girl,' cause I do feel like authors today overuse the phrase for it's popularity, but the other phrases were chief's kiss.
Overall, 4.75/5, great Christmas read and I highly recommend it for a palate cleanser.
Oof that was some epic spicy love and deep feels; I didn't expect to fall as hard.
Who doesn't want a guy who knows how to take care of your needs and matching with your tastes, worshipping you with his whole being and being your protector, all while being the sweetest? Cause I'd sure want myself a guy like Cooper. That man had me melting into a puddle basically aaall the time. And I of course adored Katy as well, her sassiness and loyalty even though it hurt her was admirable. But damn am I happy he came and put her first and didn't stop making her his no matter what.
They're truly perfect for each other and the chemistry so deep and beautiful. I loved how despite of this being a novella it managed to hit an emotional punch that I'm so happy when I get it even if it's a quick spicy read, and A. R. Thomas sure did give me that!
This steamy novella was the perfect quick Christmas read that had everything! A fun meet cute, witty banter, sizzling chemistry, and a twist to keep you on your toes!
Travis fell hard and fast for Katy and I loved how sure he was about his feelings for her and didn’t let her reluctance deter him. He knew what he wanted and went after it, and I was totally on board! He was sweet and supportive but when they were behind closed doors? This man had a filthy mouth 🔥
I loved the side characters, dynamic and banter between them. I’m now hanging for a Claire and Grant story!
This was a sexy little number indeed! I didn't expect it to be so spicy so early on, but it worked and I loved it! This story wasn't cheesy and I built a connection with the characters making it a perfect book to read around Christmas.
Katy and Copper are sizzling together; age gap, firefighter, crafty girl, daddy kink and protective brother. There are also a few sad and serious bits to pull on your heartstrings. Under 100 pages, dual POV with a cute and spicy HEA.
What's not to love! Give it a go, you will enjoy it 🎄
I have this a five star as I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the flow of the story, I connected with the story,I felt I was Kathy. I longed for a protective brother, I have a brother in law now very similar. I enjoyed how the story starts with a crazy one night , not knowing they are from the same quiet home town. How connected they really are. Travis being her brothers mate. Love the ending with there sexual relationship in full swing Sequin happy for Travis to be the Dom and her 'daddy' .
This scratched that Christmas spicy romance itch and I loved the AUDACITY these men had. Love an obsessed age gap moment. The daddy kink threw me for one but I got past it, I could NOT get past the fact that travis and Katy never used protection or even asked about it?? Girl Katy going bare on a one night stand with no birth control is crazy work. And when Travis is all like “it’s never too soon” in terms of getting her pregnant after literal DAYS of meeting her?? Jaw is on the floor. Regardless still loved these insane men what a fun ride
This sweet short novella is such a wonderful addition to your Christmas reading list truly. A possessive MMC and a timid and shy sweet FMC, with family drama sprinkled in and a happily ever after is such a great way to get your spicy fix in. Even with the limited amount of pages in this novella, the author did wonderful in making everything clear and fleshed out enough to feel satisfied! (spice rating: 4/5 🌶️ (for a short novella)
I've said it before and I'll say it again, do not sleep on small town. The innocent looking covers, the Hallmark channel worthy town, the spice can still be 🔥. Cooper and Katy's holiday story is a perfect example of that. If you're looking to warm up on a cold evening, grab your blanket and download this novella.
When one of my favourite authors announced she was doing a Christmas, age gap, spicy, daddy kink novella - I knew I would instantly fall in love with it.
A.R Thomas ALWAYS crushes every book she releases, and the story of Katy and Travis is no different. She packed such an incredible little love story in such a small book, that I know it'll be one that I'll reread every Christmas!
It was a sweet, steamy, age gap, insta love romance with relationship denial and daddy and praise kink.
I loved Cooper, he was so caring, dominant and determined to make Katy his, despite the road blocks she tried to set because of her family and a horrible past experience.
Title: the Christmess Author: A.R Thomas Genre: novella Spice: 🥵 yes Series: stand alone
Thoughts - it’s been a while since I’ve read a daddy kink and I forgot how much I enjoy it. It’s a short and sweet Christmas novella but wow does it pack a lot into it. Special mention to the dominant but also soft alpha that is Travis MMC. He is actually a little bit of everything you want in an MMC and a fireman too 🫠 say less right! Definitely a read in a night recommended read.
Plot - a last hurrah before moving back to her home town, Katy MFC is saved by an unexpected man when her ex walks in. She just never expected to see him again. One night stands should stay one night… right?
* Insta love * One night stand * Daddy and praise * Found family
“Her slim neck would look pretty with my hand around it.”
I really enjoyed Katy and Travis' story, it gives all the christmassy vibes, Sweet and yet a little spicy with Daddy Travis. A really quick and sweet read, perfect for those looking for a little festive daddy k%nk.
Well, well, well. Don't let the Pretty cover fool you! Daddy Kink 🫠. This little novella is utterly filthy in the best way. A perfect read. And my word Rachel can write good daddy stuff! Definitely worth a read for the Xmas period
I thought this book was a brilliant christmas novella. I instantly loved the characters and the way it was written. Super easy read. Travis is such a force to be reckoned with, he's hard not to just love his character. Would highly reccomend.
This is a spicy novella which has the male character falling I love instantly. A bit too unrealistic in terms of that. Plenty of spicy scenes for those who love spice as the main part of a book.
