Akcja tej opowieści, podobnie jak fabuły cykli „Elfy”, „Krasnoludy”, „Magowie” i „Wojny Arranii”, jest umieszczona w krainie Arranii, natomiast akcja serii zatytułowanej „Ziemie Ogona” – w krainie Ogonii. W chwili obecnej cykle ze świata Akwilonu liczą łącznie ponad dziewięćdziesiąt albumów! Myth uwielbia się przechwalać swoimi niezwykłymi złodziejskimi wyczynami. Czy ten gadatliwy goblin to mitoman, czy rzeczywiście jest niedoścignionym włamywaczem? Ale czy ktokolwiek rozpowiadałby, że przedostał się do pilnie strzeżonej twierdzy Czarnych Elfów, jeśli nie byłaby to prawda? Sami oceńcie...
Świat Akwilonu wymyślili dwaj francuscy scenarzyści specjalizujący się w opowieściach mitycznych, baśniowych i fantastycznych: Jean-Luc Istin („Merlin”, „Les druides”) i Nicolas Jarry („Zmierzch bogów”), którzy do współpracy zaprosili kilku innych scenarzystów oraz wielu doświadczonych rysowników.

A superb and hilarious fantasy heist tale with a goblins thieves crew hired to sneak inside a dark elf wizard's stronghold and steal a magic jewel.
I'm totally loving these spin-off series, far funnier than the original Elves.
Such a shame I'm not playing/DMing Dungeons & Dragons anymore since years, probably Myth should have been my next character or else a great NPC too.

I've been stuck on this superb French comic series set in a fantasy setting. Vol 2 of the Orcs and Goblins storyline tells the story of Myth. Myth is a goblin and a top-notch thief.
In the city of Scarande, a mysterious client hires Myth to steal the jewel of Raal'yn, from an old Dark Elf who lives in the citadel of Slurce. He recruits some friends and off they go. I would normally call it a merry adventure, but there is nothing merry about this tale (or this series), though it does have wry humor.
No more spoilers. This French series has been excellent. Their fantasy setting is well done and the best part? The stories are superb and the art, even at it's worst, is still quite good. Need I say more? Orcs! Goblins! Dwarves! If you enjoy fantasy, then take some time to read some fantasy done well! This entire fantasy series is growing to be one of my favorites.

Vous vous souvenez du bel Arsène ? Mais si, Arsène Lupin, le gentleman cambrioleur, le gars aux doigts de fées (les dames s'en souviennent, parait-il) à qui aucune serrure ne résistait, avec qui aucun bijou n'était à l'abri...
Et bien Myth, c'est la version gobelin du Lupin : ça est tout vert, balafré, puant, mais au niveau de la cambriole, il n'a rien à lui envier, il le dépasse, même, puisque notre ami de couleur sait se battre et grimper aux murs, tel une mouche.
Avant de découvrir la saga des Orcs & Gobelins, je vous aurais juré, la main sur le cœur, que je détestais ces créatures qui étaient réputées puantes, perfides, stupides, bagarreuses, envahissantes, vils,... Enfin, d'après ce qu'en disaient les Elfes et les Nains.
Maintenant que j'ai fait la connaissance de quelques uns de ses meilleurs représentants, je n'en suis plus aussi sûre...
Comme quoi, faut jamais écouter ce que disent les autres sur les gens différents de nous car c'est souvent trompeur : la preuve ! Ouvrons notre esprit et allons à leur rencontre, de ces Orcs et Gobelins (qui sentent mauvais, ça c'est véridique... et tout le reste aussi, d'ailleurs ! mdr).
Conseil d'ami, si vous croisez la route de Myth, planquez vos richesses et si vous l'engagez pour aller voler/tuer un ennemi/rival (biffez les mentions inutiles) ne jouez pas avec ses burnes.
Avec des dessins qui donnent envie de plonger la tête dans l'histoire et un scénario, certes classique, mais bien amené, voilà une bédé qui a du peps, de l'action et qui a pour héros un gobelin peu recommandable, vantard mais, ô combien attachant.
En plus, son prénom - Myth - me fait penser à la blague du gérant d'hôtel dépité qui avait derrière lui, une énorme mite dans une cage. Faudra que je vous la raconte un jour, tiens...
Devant un commanditaire mystérieux qui ne lui laisse pas le choix (tout en cachant son identité) et une mission qui a tout d'impossible, notre gobelin va développer des ruses de renard, aidé par trois compères tout aussi vert que lui et donner au lecteur une tension qui va aller crescendo, avec quelques scènes de bagarres bien détaillées.
Myth n'en est pas un (de mythe) et, s'il est un horrible vantard, il ne se vante jamais que de ce qu'il a réussi, contrairement à d'autres. En plus, il a un cerveau et il sait s'en servir pour découvrir l'identité du mystérieux commanditaire.
Un héros moche, puant et immoral à découvrir car il le mérite, ce Myth !
Comme quoi, tout est possible, dans la fantasy.

This is a heist plot. Myth must infiltrate a forbidding dark elf stronghold and steal a jewel.
The characterization of Myth is good — an irredeemable rascal, only out for himself — arrogant, treacherous, cunning, and greeedy. He’s not likeable, but he’s still appealing. That’s because he is highly skilled, very determined, and somewhat funny. Plus, he is a heavy underdog, which always generates sympathy.
After an opening action sequence/mini plot, wherein Myth concludes a mission while evading assassins, he gets his main mission. This is the kind of structure Indiana Jones films use. The book does a good job setting up the dark elf tower, building anticipation as Myth gathers his crew and travels by boat and then by cart through the spiky mountains.
SPOILER
The sequence wherein the goblins enter the tower through narrow tunnels and face off against a giant gargoyle on rope bridges is the best in the book. A formidable enemy with a good back and forth struggle. This is just a hint of the danger to come, Myth assures us. But it isn’t so. The rest of the tower falls flat.
Perhaps the author ran out of pages but the tower is way too easy. The goblins go directly to Raelyn from the catacombs with no further obstacles except some slippery walls and worthless mines. Raelyn himself is just a guy — an ok fighter, but nothing more. Nothing to have earned his reputation.
The denouement features Myth’s meeting with his client. Anticipating the client’s betrayal, Myth preempts the elf, attacking him with an explosive fake gem. This scene was pretty good. Myth betraying everyone and walking away with the loot perfectly crystallizes his character. There is one more scene, bringing the story full circle to a tavern, which didn’t add anything and should have been cut.

The art is workmanlike, but good. Especially the faces of the goblins were well drawn. Designs lack imagination and invention, but that’s the nature of this series.
On the whole, this is a solid tale. Its major flaw is that it fails to fully deliver on its central hook — the impregnable fortress of the dark elves.

I fear I generally do not like Goblins as much as Orcs. This fell into the problem many male writers fall into where they aren't paying attention to gender and the entire world becomes male. This would have been a really fun story if they'd gender flipped the main character. As it was the only woman in the story was a rich noble at the begining. It was fun. And I liked the art. But I do wish for a little more depth and divesity in fantasy.

I loved this book. This goblin gambles with his life to make his living and that is to obtain rare object (not legal) to paying customers. I'm curious what will happen with the goblins further on in the series.

Ten album tylko dla fanów. Same schematy i klisze, tym razem złodziejskiej roboty w świecie fantasy. Do bólu przeciętne. Główny bohater niezbyt ciekawy, a reszta tylko do zapomnienia.

J'avais adoré le premier tome (Turuk), et j'ai encore plus aimé celui-ci. Myth est un personnage hilarant qui m'a beaucoup fait rire tout au long de ma lecture!

Un'altra storia intrigante, divertente e con personaggi privi di morale. Mi piace come il mondo delle Terre di Arran stia prendendo vita anche attraverso lo sguardo cinico e furbo dei Goblin.

Myth est un sacré personnage !
J'ai préféré ce tome 2 au 1er ; déjà, quelques pages de plus ne sont pas de trop (le 1er est si bref !), cela donne plus de profondeur à l'histoire. Par contre, je trouve que le mécanisme de l'histoire est un peu trop similaire à celui du tome précédent. À voir si cela se répète !
