She's a million miles out of my league. But when I find out that Kenna is my online student, the fake name I used to become a tutor gives me the confidence I needed to talk to her. I don’t know anything about women, but it sure seems like she’s flirting with me. This would never happen if she found out I'm just that nerd who can't stop staring at her in the cafeteria, unable to speak in her presence. If she wasn’t dating my best friend, maybe I wouldn’t feel so guilty for being desperately in love with her. But Kenna is the girl every guy wants, because she lights up every room she enters with her perfect smile and addicting laugh. I can't focus on anyone else when she's nearby. So I let myself flirt with her, and it somehow happens in real life, not just through our late-night emails. The real hang-up is that she doesn’t know there’s two versions of me, the quiet guy I am on the outside and the real me beneath the surface. When she inevitably finds out, I don’t know how she’ll ever forgive me for lying to her about my true identity.
This is book two of the Good Ol' Boys Series. It can be read as a complete stand-alone, but the best reader experience will be to start with book one, Falling For Temptation.
Mj also goes by Ariel. She's a native Texan who lives in Hawaii with her dreamy husband Justin and two kiddos. She can't resist pairing a damaged heroine with a southern gentleman who manages to tear down her walls one brick at a time. The men in her books will open every door and carry every bag, just like Justin does. She's eternally indebted to her writing, which rescued her from the darkest place she has ever been. Her lifelong dream is to one day write all her books in a house by the sea, with a wine cellar that's never empty and her imaginary characters somehow becoming her real-life friends.
This book was so messy… like it didn’t know what it wanted to be, and the ending caught me off guard? Pretty much everything that took place from Vegas on was bizarre.
I really enjoyed Levi’s character, but didn’t enjoy how much Kenna pined after him. It was verging on pathetic. And the whole tutor emailing thing was just not executed correctly.
I feel like this book wanted to be so many things but kept missing the mark. It was fun in the new adult college way- but also incredibly cringe?
I loved book one so I’m not sure what to think. The concept is THERE. I love good boy/bad girl (like in book one) but Kenna was not bad… just horny? Idk… I don’t like the way she was portrayed in this book. All of the pining and insta love for not only Levi but the tutor (that she doesn’t even know) like girl be single… live life… forget about boys for a second pls. The desperation was killing me.
es como que la autora tiene todos los elementos para hacer una buena historia pero NO LE PEGA A UNA, esta mejor que el libro anterior lo único que voy a opinar
It’s 4:30 in the morning and I’m sobbing. That epilogue brought it all back together for me. I was not expecting so much emotion and the serious moments.
I think the everything involving sarah towards the end could have been handled with a little more care. It just all happened so fast and then it was over.
Overall really cute, definitely slower paced in the beginning. The first 50% I wanted to smack them both and then everything happened in the second half—I felt a little whiplash.
the worst fucking thing ive ever read and ive spent my fair share of time in the ‘fluff’ tag of multiple fandoms. the magically drug overdosed sister who had a baby they wanted to kidnap over states lines was the cherry on top
Another epic romance! I love this author! Her characters are raw, real, open...I love the chemistry, angst...it's just perfection! Levi and Kenna are just amazing together!Give me more, please! Onto Silas's book! 4.5 stars!!!!
I really did enjoy this book but some things were just not talked about like the main plot?? like he is her tutor but she doesn’t know and when she finds out the reaction is weird to me. also they jumped from igorning each other to being gf and bf so fast there was no build up like the other book. but apart from that I did enjoy it I like the strong fmc and the shy mmc
Another 5 Star romance novel by M.J. Hendrix. This is the 2nd book of the Good Ol Boys Series. It can be read as a stand alone, but your going to want to read them all.
It was hard for me to put this book down. There wasn't much that I did not love about this nerd boy/popular girl, opposites attract, college romance, slow burn novel. I enjoyed getting to see more of Levi and Kenna's individual stories, their relationship journey, and a slight glimpse of Harley and Adam's continuing storyline. I cannot wait for Book # 3!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Seeing Double is the second book in the Good Ol' Boys series and brings us the story of Kenna and Levi.
Kenna is that cute, rich and popular girl that everyone wants as a friend. Kenna brightens up the lives of everyone she interacts with, though inside she feels off since she lost her sister and best friend. Since the accident that took her sister's life and spared hers, Kenna has spent her time trying to live as her sister would if she were alive. She lives surrounded by people and goes to a lot of parties, but she longs for someone who sees her for what she truly is beneath that layer of hers.
Levi is a college Clark Kent who comes from an oppressive family where silence is his safety net. Levi, the son of farmers, studied hard to get where he is and earns his living tutoring other students.
When Kenna hires him to be her tutor under dream payment terms, Levi (aka Mr. Taylor) accepts, at first not knowing who she is and, in the course of their conversations, they get to know each other better (something Levi hasn't done before due to his shyness) and Levi finds out who his new student is.
So, while Levi knows exactly who his student is, Kenna remains in the dark thinking that Mr. Taylor and Levi are completely different people.
So, throughout Seeing Double we follow a popular girl/nerd boy slowburn romance that represents the typical "I have a crush, but I think she/he doesn't like me that way".
I really loved Kenna, she's one of those characters that makes us want to be friends with her! Levi, despite being able to understand all his traumatic past, I found him, at times, a little possessive, which, after everything, made me not love this character.
I haven't read the first book in the series, and although it can be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the first book for a better experience (not least because Hailey and Adam's story in seems to have triggered a whole change in this group of farmboys and made them aspire to find a love like that), given that the beginning of Seeing Double follows on from past events in Falling For Temptation (Good Ol' Boys #1) and, in my opinion, that must have been why the beginning felt a bit rushed to me (as if those moments had already had a focus, even if in the background, in the first book).
After that, the book is composed of a very good slow burn and it takes a few turns that really surprised me and hooked me to the book. In fact, I really wasn't AT ALL expecting the way it ended!
This book is for you if: you like college romance, slow burn, popular girl/nerd boy, one bed trope.
I was really excited for Seeing Double, especially because I absolutely loved Levi in Falling for Temptation. I had high expectations for this book, and while it was definitely an enjoyable read, I feel like it had the potential to be even stronger. Levi was easily one of the best parts—his awkward charm, quiet depth, and emotional growth made his character really compelling. Seeing him slowly open up was one of my favorite aspects of the story.
The plot follows Kenna, a confident and outgoing sorority girl, and Levi, who’s more reserved and academically driven. Their dynamic had a lot of potential, and there were some really sweet moments between them. One of my favorites was during a tutoring session where Kenna, unaware of Levi’s true identity, openly shares her insecurities and dreams. It was a raw, vulnerable scene that gave a glimpse of how great their connection could be, and I found myself wanting more moments like that.
That being said, Kenna’s relentless pursuit of Levi sometimes felt a bit too much. I love a determined heroine, but at times, her constant chasing made the story feel a little repetitive. I think a slower, more balanced development between them would have made their relationship feel even more natural and engaging.
The book had all the right ingredients—interesting characters, great tropes, and emotional depth—but I do wish it had leaned into them a bit more. Some plot points felt underdeveloped, and I think with a little more nuance in their relationship dynamic, the story could have been even stronger.
Overall, Seeing Double was a solid read with a lot to enjoy, especially for fans of Levi. I’d rate it 3.5 stars—it had some really great moments, but I think a bit more balance in the romance and character development would have taken it to the next level.
Oh My! Get ready for another one of the 'Good Ol' Boys' to steal your heart in this nerd boy / popular college girl romance story. After being introduced to Levi and Kenna in Book 1 (Falling for Temptation) I couldn't wait for their story and damn MJ Hendrix nailed it. Levi oh Levi you sweet adorable nerd, I adore you! I mean Clark Kent who??? My heart ached for him as his sheltered and heartbreaking childhood has left him with insecurities and social anxiety. His smarts were sexy as hell, his naivety was endearing, his feelings for Kenna were a little h.o.t and swoony, and his insecurities and anxiety were heart aching and heart stealing. Kenna is such a sweetheart. Not without her own past heartbreak, Kenna is still a sweet, caring, passionate and outgoing girl who knows what she wants and damn I can't blame the girl for wanting introvert Levi. The slow burn journey between these two fed all of my emotions. I laughed, I smiled, I swooned, I ached, and I rooted for these two as I devoured their story which was riddled with lust, insecurities, heartbreak, some cute awkwardness, secrets, a little heat, and some swoony love. I'm absolutely loving this world MJ Hendrix has created. I adore seeing these sheltered and slightly naive boys come out of their shells one by one. Bring on Book 3!
*this book was kindly sent to me by the author (M. J. Hendrix) in exchange for an honest review*
When Levi finds out that the girl he's tutoring and has been flirting with is actually Kenna, he has no idea how to tell her because 1) he's too shy to speak to her; 2) they're so different; 3) Levi thinks Kenna is dating one of his best friends and 4) how would she feel if she found out he was hidding this from her? ARE YOU READY FOR THIS WONDERFUL OPPOSITES ATTRACT, NERDY BOY / POPULAR GIRL COLLEGE ROMANCE?
M.J. always has the best side characters and Kenna stole my heart in book one. I was so, so happy when I first found out that this one was going to be about her and Levi (even though sometimes I just wanted to get inside the book, grab him by the shoulders and shake some sense into him 😂).
My heart broke once I got to know a little bit more about Levi and his family but seeing him come out of his shell and overcome his insecurities was amazing. My heart went from being broken to being all happy and excited for him and Kenna.
AND KENNA I LOVE YOU, WE SHOULD BE FRIENDS IF YOU WEREN'T A FICTIONAL CHARACTER. I had so much fun getting to know her, you guys know how much I loved Kenna in the first book. She's such a sweetheart and she's so funny! I was also happy we got to see how Harley and Adam were doing.
This book is a slow burn and you won't be able to put it down.
Everyone knows that, apart from Nora Roberts’ books, I was stuck in a thriller mood for a while, and even the ones I read by Nora Roberts had that thriller-y vibe. With that being said, it’s no secret that M. J. Hendrix made me fall in love with romance & rom-coms all over again! When I read M. J.’s debut novel “Falling For Temptation” – which is the first book in the “Good Ol’ Boys” series – I felt the urge to start reading more and more romance novels again & it feels so good! her writing is so good and it always makes me not want to put her books down. "Seeing Double" was everything I expected and more.
So grateful to M. J. Hendrix for sending me an e-arc. Thank you!
If you're looking for paper cuts from turning the pages way to quick then you're in the right place. This book is almost impossible to put down, with the perfect amount of twists you don't see coming. Highs and lows, insecurities and self doubt, and growth makes for a story that you can personally feel and relate to.
I absolutely could not put this book down. Was an amazing slow burn and had a few twists in it that I wasn’t expecting but it kept me on the edge of my seat. Absolutely loved reading this book and cannot wait for the next book that MJ puts out.
Oh my gosh, I loved this book, I knew I was going to love Levin since I read "Falling for Temptation" but I had no idea I was going to love it so much, he is so cute and good person, Kenna and Levi were just right for each other, my favorite line without a doubt is "My mind is a blurry, old photograph with black-and-white shapes, but she's in bold color." I finished it in two days! I wish we could know Silas' story too.
"I want to keep talking to you today. I want to talk to you every day. I think about you…constantly. Most of my days are spent wishing I were with you, wherever that is.”

I’m torn between loving this book and hating it lol.
Starting with what i didn’t like. There were two things: - The writing. I somehow prefer it in this book and in the previous one. I don’t know if it’s because it did improve or i just got used to it but i feel like it was better. Some sentences were cringe. Not in dialogues but in the inner monologues. - That author took the miscommunication trope to a whole new level and i wish i weren’t here for it - so many things made little to no sense
Now what i liked ????: - The nerdy, super shy man and the popular woman every man wants and how they both had a crush on each other, tbh i just loved it. (bonus point for Dan liking her at first) - How it started going south with the baby (not a pregnancy trope) but honestly i loved it - The drunken proposal ??? the secret marriage ?????? i didn’t know i loved this trope until now and it literally just became one of my favorites (so disappointed that we didn’t get everyone else’s reactions to it though) - Seeing how BAD they had it for each other at the beginning of the book (sorry but it had me giggling, kicking my feet and throwing my phone on my bed- i legit had to take breaks to BREATHE because of how cute they were)

Stars: 4.5/5 Tropes: best friend’s girl, nerdy boy/ popular girl Spice: 2/5 Series: Good Ol’ Boys Triggers: Infertility Hero: 4/5 Heroine: 4/5 Violence: 1/5 Dark: 0/5
Seeing Double is book two of the Good Ol’ Boys series but can be read as a standalone! This’ll be the third book I’ve read of MJ’s and if you’re looking for a straight forward romance with a few cliches here and there and a HEA, her books are a great match. If you’ve read the first book in the series, you’ll know who Levi (hero) and Kenna (heroine) are. We get a little glimpse in Falling for Temptation (Adam and Harley’s book) of Levi and Kenna. My absolute favorite parts were the little email exchanges they have. And the part when Mr. Taylor (Levi) sends Kenna soup because she’s hungover!!! I no joke rolled my eyes at Levi’s cuteness. Spice is a 2/5 because it’s not descriptive but you still know it’s happening.
Kenna is someone who isn’t afraid to stick up for her friends, someone who’ll give you a ride when you’re stranded in a campsite trying to escape a meet-the-parents, someone who is genuine and can’t help but want to make sure the people she cares about are comfortable.
Levi is a total sweetheart and the definition of nerdy hot. Muscles AND brains. Levi thoughts are my favorite and I love hearing them almost as much as Kenna. He’ll follow you to make sure you’re safe when you go piss in the woods, and scare off a mountain lion when they approach you. He’ll have soup delivered to your door when you crave it and can’t stomach anything else.

This was a good read. I’m obsessed with the sweet shy boy trope. I wouldn’t call Kenna a bad girl, so it doesn’t fall under the good boy/bad girl category. Regardless Levi was amazing. My only issue with the story was I feel like all the darker storylines weren’t very fleshed out. I almost felt like everything was glossed over and only ever really brought up when it needed some serious blended in but not enough to really pack a punch. I didn’t love it as much as the first book in the series, but it was good enough that I will check out a third.
My excitement to read this book quickly vanished when I realised that the whole story would turn into 1 big cliché.
Levi and Kenna rarely interact with each other, but when they do one of them is usually naked or drunk. After basically not speaking to each other throughout the first half of the book they spontaneously (and drunk) get married in Vegas. From that moment on, Levi undergoes a metamorphosis in which his pathological shyness completely disappears and where he suddenly knows how to talk to people. Truly the most unrealistic personality change ever!
The ending consisted out of a series of unrealistic events such as “let’s adopt a baby after being together for like 6 weeks at the age of 20 while still being in college”.
I actually did really like them together, but I just feel like some events were too cringy, unnecessary or just didn’t belong in a contemporary college romance.

I love this book. Seeing two people from two different worlds like each other without them knowing. It has all the twists and turn. This book made me feel like I was riding an emotional roller coaster. I laughed, I cried, I was happy and I was also very sad for both Kenna and Levi. I couldn’t put the book down once I started reading it, like all the other books by MJ Hendrix has written.
