Mackenzie would rather spend the holiday alone than deal with her stepdad. However, when she discovers a cute basketball player at a party one night before her friends leave, she finds out that he’ll be spending the break on campus just like her.
After missing the winning shot, Corbyn’s father punishes him by making him stay on campus for the break. Basketball has been Corbyn’s number one ever since he can remember. The last thing he needs is a girl to distract him.
Yet, the girl from the party seems to be everywhere he is. Despite trying to keep her at a distance she manages to push her way into his life and convinces him to relax and spend the holiday with her.
Will Mackenzie make Corbyn realize that basketball isn’t the only important thing in life?
Emily is the author of several young adult, new adult, mystery and romance novels. She lives in a small town in Ohio similar to the towns in her stories. Her favorite place to read is in her pool.
I enjoyed it. However, I don’t feel the writing style and story should be classified as “New Adult” as their actions and the tone of the story felt younger than college aged characters. I think it would be better if it was classified as YA as that’s more the vibe of the story and writing style. While I enjoyed the story I don’t think I’ll be continuing the series.
Absolutely adorable book! I ate it up in one sitting. Watching both of the characters support each other in ways no one else has was so beautiful. Watching them help each other fight their battles and stand up for themselves…. Amazing. Emily did I wonderful job at telling a very clean unputdownable book. I am so mad I took so long to read this one.
Book 2 in the series. Fantastic. YA Sports romance at its finest. Second couple out of all the friends to have their own story. I've come to learn that this author really is amongst the best indie authors I've read for YA. Love everything she writes.
Mackenzie is an outgoing sorority girl and Corbyn is the quiet, focused basketball star. Corbyn is hell-bent on not being distracted my girls and/or having a girlfriend during basketball season. It’s all he’s ever known with how hard his dad is on him regarding the sport. Yet, he cannot get Mackenzie out of his head. The two both end up staying on campus during Christmas break and are the only ones in their houses (Mackenzie - sorority house and Corbyn - basketball house). Mackenzie is persistent which Corbyn *thinks* he finds annoying, but they end up spending quite a bit of time together and it’s so heartwarming to see MacKenzie chipping away at Corbyn’s wall of ice and seeing a budding romance. Seriously, this story will pull at your heartstrings. I wasn’t ready for it to end. I loved MacKenzie and Corbyn.
Notes: Chapter 21 - all the warm fuzzy swoony feelings!!! 🥹💚 but thennnnnn… Chapter 30 - I repeatedly said “wtf Corbyn.”
Emily’s sweet young adult book provided a relevant story for students during college years.
Mackenzie met Corbyn at a party and was instantly attracted to him. For personal reasons they both remained on campus during the Christmas break. Mackenzie was concerned about being alone so she turned to Corbyn to hopefully make the time bearable. Unfortunately, his life revolved around basketball which didn’t leave time for female friendship.
Emotions run high during these challenging years. Emily made you believe that life isn’t perfect but sharing time and history with someone you care about can truly make a difference in your life.
This book was a quick read and I highly recommend you read if you love a sweet romance.
Mackenzie is an outgoing sorority girl who seem to always attract the wrong guy. Corbyn is the star basketball player who has a no girlfriends during basketball season. One night at a party Mackenzie is hosting the two cross paths. There was something about him that peaked Mackenzie’s interest and Corbyn was drawn to her and couldn’t stop thinking about the night they met. When circumstances beyond their control force them to remain at school for winter break, they can’t help but cross paths. With no one else around and Corbyn’s strict father cutting him off financially Mackenzie can’t help but reach out to help him and once she does Corbyn can’t help but find ways to spend more time with her. Will their relationship blossom and last once everyone returns from break and basketball season picks back up or will their brief time together be nothing more than a memory? If you love a story that tugs on the heartstrings and takes you on the path of a budding romance, then this is definitely a book for you. It will make you laugh, cry and want to scream at times. This book is written as a dual POV and I guarantee you will fall in love with both!
This is a sweet college romance that ties into Falling for Autumn, these books are interconnected stand alones. When Mackenzie and Corbyn end up on campus together during Christmas break, he does everything he can to avoid her. Mackenzie ends up helping him out when his dad cuts him off. They end up spending a lot of time together and sharing the secrets of why they were both left on campus over the holiday. They end up falling for each other even though Corbyn has a rule against dating during the basketball season, she may be the one to break the rule for.
This is such a cute YA story! One party, a chance meeting, and a Grinch who almost stole Christmas. Mackenzie and Corbyn are stuck at school for Christmas break; both for very different reasons. Luckily, Mackenzie isn't one to give up on spreading some cheer when Corbyn's grinch side comes out. This reminds me of a holiday Hallmark movie, and it's wonderful. Her stepfather, though - yuck! I look forward to reading more books from Emily.
If you haven't read any of Emily Camps books, you are missing out. Falling for Mackenzie is precious. You will love Corbyn and Mackenzie's banter and personalities. Absolutely LOVED this cute book!
Perfect holiday read. You have the "Grinch" mmc and "Cindy Lou" fmc. Both stay on campus for Christmas and build a friendship and love over a few short weeks. Great novella and definitely recommend!
Took me a few days to finish, only because of work and life! Lol i absolutely loved this book. Seeing both characters grow and open up to each other was so sweet. Definitely a feel good romance.
Mackenzie and Corbyn are definitely a couple you wouldn’t expect together! She’s very out going, bubbly and a people person as to where Corbyn is as described in the book a Grinch and focused on Basketball! Can Mackenzie bring him out of his Grinch personality?
Mackenzie and Corbyn both have a backstory for why they aren’t going home on the holidays and instead spend the holidays without their families….. I am not going to give too much away! But there is a back story for each of them!
Would highly recommend! This would even be a good holiday read as it happens during Christmas season!
