So now that I’ve reached the end of this epic saga, where the culmination of 3 series came together in this final book, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m in love with Sophie Lark.

The last 30 minutes or so were spend crying. My face is a state.

The way this just turned into the best kind of found family stories… I can cry right now just thinking about it.

This series has taken a part of me and it’ll stay with it always.

This was perfect. I have nothing else to say.

”There are crossroads in life where you can either choose the cold truth you see in front of you, or you can choose to chase the impossible dream.”

Wow. Just, wow. Sophie not only gave us an exciting, heart wrenching, and passionate story with The Spy, but she wrapped up the Kingmaker’s series with a neat little bow. I definitely ended this one shedding some bittersweet tears, because yes I already miss the Kingmaker crew. Sophie does a great job closing out everyone’s story, while also giving our Spy and his heroine, Nix, one hell of a story.

Here’s the thing about The Spy. The story in this book has been building since probably the first book and we just didn’t know it yet. In The Bully we get The Spy’s POV as a third POV, so we are teased and teased, and now FINALLY we get to know what the heck was going on! So many ah-ha moments in this book. I will warn, that the love story between the Spy and Nix definitely takes a bit of back seat to what the Spy’s overall mission is and all that ensues because of that mission.

There’s so much action and excitement and I loved it. I can’t say TOO much about what all goes down because it will spoil it for the reader, but what we are given is what makes this story a 5 star read for me. This book was just entertaining from start to finish and when I was done I still wanted more, because it was that good. I DO however wish we could have gotten just a DASH more of the Spy and Nix. What we did get is AMAZING though, and I almost feel like a jerk for begging for more, but yeah. I fully recognize that this was probably an incredibly difficult book to write because it truly provides us with so many things: a new and unexpected (for the characters) love story, closure for a big group of well loved characters AND side characters, the finale to a four book series, AND so many questions are answered that have been building about the Spy’s story since the very first book. So even though I’m mentioning that I wanted more SpyNix content, I’m also saying that the story stands without it as a 5, because Sophie totally put in the work to make this one amazing.

This book just contains SO much, and it was incredibly entertaining. I loved this series and while I’m sad that it’s over, I absolutely CAN NOT wait to see what Sophie gives us next.

For now I’ll be reading her back catalog, starting with Ivan 😚🎶

*I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review*

Okay... Let me just take a breath.... I am fresh off of reading this book and I have so much adrenaline and feelings washing over me.

Now, it's no secret that I am a Sophie Lark Stan. I make no illusions about it, she is one of my favorite new authors to me this year. I have have great respect for the stories she tells and the emotions they evoke in me.

I also am not afraid to say what I truly feel and give honest reviews to my followers. I did not know how Sophie was going to pull of this story, there was so much up in the air, so many dangling threads and lots of questions to answer and character arcs to pay off. So I was nervous that something might be missed.

I am more than happy to say, that is not the case.

This book is perfection. I was riveted on every single page and when the pages were running out I was terrified that it was ending. My heart is tiling beating so fast.

I can think of few others series, and none off the top of my head that have built a mystery for me in such a compelling way and didn't let me down in any aspect. I cannot WAIT to go back through this series and notice every little piece of work that was done and the bread crumbs that were put in place. Because it is freaking amazing.

Do you all even realize the short amount of time this author has been writing? Like.. wow. I can't even dream up a story like this. I will leave it to more talented hands.

I was immensely satisfied with who the Spy was.
I was amazed by who the 3rd POV was.
I was in awe of how the story played out.
And I really enjoyed the love story. Which is what this series is all about. Passionate, deep romances.

I couldn't have prepared for this couple and I was surprised with how deep my feelings were for them by the end. Because there is a LOT of pieces at play, but I was rooting for them all the way.

Anyway, there we are. The end of a journey. The end of a mission. The Happily Ever After.

There is no other rating but 6/5 stars for me.

Not all predators hunt in the open.

This series has been a guilty pleasure for me. It's one of those suspend your disbelief sort of reads that manages to hit the spot even if it's waaaay out there. I think I saw the comparison of Hogwarts school for criminals and it's definitely apropos.

I've been waiting for this one with bated breath. I couldn't wait for The Spy to be revealed because I just knew it was going to be crazy. And man, was it. The Spy was a character I fell for immediately. I was desperate for the details to his past and the more that got revealed, the more hooked I became. Nix was a bit of an acquired taste, that admittedly, I just never acquired a taste for. She was...just okaish. She seemed a bit two dimensional. I get her father's story, but she just didn't add up for me.

The other thing that lowered my rating was the romance. I hate to admit it, but I just never connected with the romance here. Admittedly, it's something I've experienced with some of the other books I've read from this author. The romance just seems to come out of nowhere, with no real build up. For my tastes anyway. This is entirely a personal tastes thing, so don't take my word as gospel here because I'm clearly in the minority. But for me they just seemed to go from 0 to 60 in the span of a chapter, and considering their history and who they are to each other, I just couldn't wrap my mind around that. Nix's choice in the end was also mind boggling. I just couldn't believe her quick turn face and how easily she forgave and condemned.

I have to say my favorite part of the book was the secondary suspense story. Or not really secondary, but one that runs parallel to the romance and has some flashbacks. I lived for these two.

All in all, this was an entertaining read, but just not something that I'd come back to or find myself thinking about later.

Now THAT is how you write a series finale, my friends!!! Sophie Lark gave me absolutely everything I wanted! The Spy is exciting, mysterious, intriguing, suspenseful, and action packed! It's full of love of all kinds, heartbreak, longing, passion, and romance!  The friendship and family built over the course of the series between the characters is front and center and one of the most beautiful parts of the story to me. I never wanted it to end!

The spy is a character that I've been wondering about since I read The Heir, and I'm so glad we finally got his story. It was completely different from what I thought it was going to be in the best possible way! I loved his dynamic with the heroine, and the forbidden aspect of their relationship. It's always better when it's not allowed, am I right?! Other than that, I don't want to say much about the characters. I went into the story with very little information, and that's the best way to experience it IMO.

If you've read the previous books in the series, you know they all contain three POVs, the main couple and a third person that gets to take center stage in a subsequent novel. Because this is the finale, I assumed that would change, but it didn't! The third person's chapters in this one is done in a completely different way though, and it's actually one of my favorite uses of the third point of view in the series.

Aside from the hero and heroine's personal and joint storylines, The Spy was the final chapter of this incredible series that I've been obsessed with since the first book landed on my Kindle. Sophie Lark wrapped up everything beautifully. The way she wrote the epilogue was absolute perfection! She's just a brilliant storyteller, and I truly could not have asked for more!

New adult and mafia romance fans, this one's for you!

The end of a series always wrecks me, especially when it has become one of my very favorites and The Kingmakers has. I love this world, the storylines, the couples, and the characters. Sophie Lark made them feel like family and I’m totally destroyed to leave them.

The Spy. I won’t spoil who he is but GOD he was everything I wanted him to be. Seeing the struggle with his secrets and seeing him develop into the man he was destined to be as a result of this epic love with the heroine was cosmic, predestined. I feel like I have to leave it there.

Nix was an interesting heroine, ethereal, nature incarnate. I loved how Sophie Lark described her character and the elemental nature that led to the couple’s connection. She was the perfect match for the hero of this book.

While their connection was strong, physically and emotionally, it all kind of happened pretty fast. I didn’t feel like these two fell for each other. It was just there and explosive. Believable but fast. I would have liked for there to be more of them and more build up for them as a couple, BUT there was a lot of plot and subplots to wrap up, which ultimately needed to take precedent.

This was a story, too. The suspense, the pieces of the puzzle finally coming together, all the characters we have loved having their roles, character cameos. It is just action packed and thrilling. I loved every single part of the plot, and the epilogue, I WAS DEAD. It was so perfect for this world readers have come to love so much. Even though, I feel like I could stay here forever and would gladly read a million more stories from this world, Sophie gave this world the send off it deserved.

Epicness. The Kingmakers was just epic, and the Spy brought it all full circle. This series. The characters. The story-telling. The romances that move mountains. This world has everything I love in a romance, and it will absolutely be one of my favorite series of 2021. I don’t know that I’ll ever move on from this world.

A masterpiece. It is truly amazing how Sophie managed to weave all three series together and tied up all the various mysteries and secrets she was sprinkling throughout the Kingmaker books.

I did manage to figure out the reveals in this story over the course of the books, but I had to WORK my brain constantly for it. I had such a fun time making my guesses and putting the different puzzle pieces together to see if they’d fit.

I can’t say much without spoiling anything…but this finale had a lot of similar vibes to the conclusion of the Brutal Birthright series. It is action-packed, full of secrets, revenge, death, and centred around a forbidden romance.

The romance does fall a little to the side in this one compared to the first three books, but that is because of how important the plot is. I think the romance fit perfectly with this story, and had it over-taken the plot it would’ve ruined it and not made sense due to the loyalty and ambition of our characters.

When Sophie creates her couples, they are truly POWER couples. They enhance one another, they build upon the other’s strengths and fill their blindspots. They are equals in every way and their devotion is unmatchable.

Sophie is one of the most talented authors I have ever read from and her art of storytelling only improves with each novel she puts out. She has a way of crafting her characters, couples, and plots that you are immersed so deeply in her story that you forget it isn’t reality.

Basically, I adore Sophie. Thank you.

My work reading both the Underworld and the Brutal Birthright series was so worth it to read this end of the Kingmakers (for now).

I didn't expect that epilogue. It was fucking beautiful. And I love this found family and where can I get one?! I don't know whether I want to be a part of the Gallos, Griffins, Yenins, or Petrovs 🥹

Sophie Lark really showed some of her best in this book. I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us because she can work some pure magic 💖

...im sad I didn't enjoy this one.. and I won't spoil who the H is so I'm say the Spy lol.. . I kinda liked The Spy I couldn't connect or care for Nix.. idk what it was but I just didn't enjoy her.. I tried so hard I put this book down like 4 times until I finally finished it... which is sad because I loved The Bully..

Spy is about family and blood so he has his mission to do so he sorta watches and befriends Nix at first then their relationship turns from sorta friends to boyfriend and girlfriend.. as for Nix only thing I enjoyed is her friendship with Sabrina that's about it.

I was shocked how easy Nix forgave Spy for all the lying.. using her.. like I don't mind she picked him at the end but kinda wish the aftermath she push him away and had their distance.. gotta earn that trust back.  I'm disappointed..

What a perfect ending to a series
(although I know The Savage is coming out this was intended to be the end)

I was scared for a second because the beginning is so slow but nonetheless it picked up and it was a rollercoaster that you couldn’t get off.

There so many thing that I want to say but I would be spoiling. The characters from this book are amazing and I’m so glad with Sophie choice for The Spy. His parents are the star of this book. I love the plot was amazing and little bit slow in the beginning but it will keep you a sense of mystery along the way.

The romance was good not the best but enough to make you swoon and feel all the good stuff.

THAT EPILOGUE ALONE? 5 STARS IT BROUGHT ME TEARS!!

I’m in love with the world that Sophie created. I’m so glad that she is dive into this one more time to bring Sabrina Gallo and Adrik story. I’m very excited for Sabrina, I think she is going to be spectacular.

3.5 - 3.75 stars

Out of the 4 books in this series, I liked this one the most. It's the most complex, with the most action. The romance is slow building and made a bit more sense then the romances in the previous 3 books.
I guessed the Spy from the first book but only cause I knew there would be a spy amongst the characters. Although spy is a bit much to be honest.
I was kinda dissapointed that we learn his identity almost immediately. I hoped there would be a bit more mystery but alas.
This book clarifies who the spy is, why he is in the school and what is the angle. It also ties up loose ends and provides a HEA fost all main characters, which was pretty nice.

Bonus points:
- nobody is calling anybody baby girl.🥳
- Nix and Sabrina are great female characters
- the Spy's inner struggle was just the right amount of angst

Star Rating : 5/5 stars

POV : Dual

Cliffhanger : None

Hero : -

Heroine : Nix

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 5/10

Heat Rating : 5/10

Triggers Involved : Kidnapping , Past trauma

Plot Summary :
The spy has been waiting for a long time to get his revenge. Waiting for the perfect opportunity to destroy the Moroz Family. And now the time has come. Nix Moroz is the princess of the family. She knows she has been kept in a bubble and is completely oblivious to the bad deeds of her father.

What shocks her is the utter hatred of her family at the kingmakers. That is until one boy offers her solace. The one person who she thinks understands her. Or is it just something she imagines? Because when she is not looking, he wants to destroy her and when she is at her most vulnerable, he will attack.

Overall Opinion :
Omg. The suspense is finally revealed!! I have been crazy wondering who the hell is the spy and holy shift, you guys are not ready!! The suspense of this book and the whole story of what is actually happening in the background is amazing. The author even makes us meet a lot of characters from her previous books which made me just crazy! There is nothing I love more than a good story overlap and this one has that perfectly.

Nix and her spy have a take which will play with your heartstrings, make you scream and cry and of course the author will make you enjoy every single second of that agony. The ending had me in tears because I just love these characters so much and seeing them all together getting the perfect ending they had deserved, just made me glad!

I would HIGHLY recommend this whole series and just this standalone to all those dark romance loving people. THE SPY is a tale full of love and betrayal and I can guarantee you that you'll love this book so much just like me!

The Spy took us back to Kingmakers with the large cast of characters and it was an explosive and exciting story.
The relationship of these characters that was built on lies and deceit and then blossomed into so much more.
I was drawn into the encompassing love of the other characters in this book.
The connection of friends who come together and support each other no matter what the circumstances is what makes this series addicting and loved so much.

The Spy by Sophie Lark is an absolutely phenomenal story. This series ends with a bang of epic proportions and I loved every single element and the way they all merged together. It is so hard to write this review because you really do need to go in blind to get the full impact of the story and its components. The characters, the world building, the revelations, and the way Sophie brings things full circle for beloved characters makes this story one that is all-encompassing.

This author has this uncanny ability to give us characters who are each strong in their own unique ways, and somehow manages to find their perfect match in a way that is completely believable. The relationship between this Hero and his heroine seemed improbable at the beginning, and by the end, their passion was burning the pages. I enjoyed everything about the way their relationship developed and the tension that existed between them was so well written.

There was so much going on in this story. The mafia action, the angst, the heartbreaking betrayal, the twists- all of it came together brilliantly. The author has been leaving a trail of breadcrumbs throughout the series about the events and characters of this story, and the way everything came to light had me on the edge of my seat. It's often times hard to keep momentum going throughout a series with different characters, but in this case things just got more heated and more intense with each book. This was mafia romance done right, with just enough suspense and romance to create a thrilling experience for the reader. This is one series that I highly recommend.

Brilliant, Show Stopping, Gorgeous, Flawless. SO MANY FREAKING WORDS TO DESCRIBE THE LAST INSTALLMENT OF MY FAVORITE SERIES EVER. i am overwhelmed with sadness, happiness, joy and relief UGH just too many emotions. Right away I was transported back into the world of kingmakers and it felt like no time had passed. I remembered everything and got sucked in immediately. I knew at just 5% this would be a favorite and i was correct. this story was so unbelievably amazing. It had strong themes of friendship, love, family, loyalty and so much more. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end this amazing series. no question went unanswered. no character (that we care about) was left without an HEA.. I just am
so happy and i need everyone and their MOTHER to read this series. speaking of which im trying to get my mom to read brutal prince.. she doesn’t really do romance, so the convincing is tiring. ANYWAYS. a million and one stars. So beautiful UGH THE AMOUNT OF TEARS SHED, THE AMOUNT OF THINGS ANNOTATED.. I will never shut up about this series. do yourself a favor and pick up my favorite series ever.

If I thought the previous books in the series were amazing, they seriously had NOTHING on this one. Sophie raised the bar super high! Full of shocking moments and revelations from pretty much the first page made this book very enticing, because you just couldn't wait to reveal and uncover all the secrets. Sophie's great writing skills pulled me into the book so quickly! I think lot of people will be surprised by who the Spy is, even if they think they already knew the character. They didn't. I was SUPER shocked by the revelation. This book was probably the most 'mafia' of the whole series. We got to see a lot of the other characters in full action, which was super exciting as well!

I don't want to talk about the characters, because it's basically impossible to do without spoiling anything. But just let me say this - HOLY SHIT OF ALL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! I loved them both - to be fair, I already loved the character who played the Spy, but I fell in love with the real him even more. And the heroine of the book was just so fierce, smart and brave! The two of them made a great combination. The Spy is Sophie's most erotic book yet, in my opinion. Just saying...

Five huge huge stars! This is definitely one of my top three reads of this year!

I wanna go for a walk on the woods, that's all I have to say!

My favorite book written by Mrs. Lark is the spy, my favorite character is dean hands down, but he has a bit of completion with my dear SPY. The Spy gave this series the perfect closing it deserves. The Spy gives all the answers to the questions you might have since the heir. Mrs. Lark outdid herself, this book has become my favorite. There's so many things i wanna write about but I don't wanna spoild the book for other people so the only thing i can say is that I'll never see the woods, pol and Christmas dances the same. Mrs. Lark you just gave me so many good ideas that I'm sure my husband would appreciate them.
OMG the playlist for this book was amazing. I love listening to the song that goes with each scene. It makes everything more real and let's my imagination run while.

I would love to see a book about Sabrina and a special someone, cara and a special someone and my dear baby boy Kade. Please write at least a novella about them. I feel like they deserve their own story as well.

Thank you so much for this amazing book, like always your books rocked my world.

We've been waiting, and now the Spy is revealed! But I can't talk to you about him, because SPOILERS.

So let's talk about Nix. After convincing her father to let her go to Kingmakers, she's accepted as an Heir and believes that she truly knows the dark underworld that she's a part of and the role her father plays in it. Nix quickly learns that she's very wrong, and has been more sheltered than she can possibly imagine. Despite one immediate friendship, she's lonely and alone. Isolated as too dark even among the darkest of mafioso children. Even though she's tough AF and motivated to find her place at Kingmakers, she breaks your heart a little. There's so much that you the reader know going into this book that Nix is entirely oblivious too - it all builds to watching her view of reality shatter and watching a strong woman put herself together again in her own image. Once again Sophie writes a woman who is badass in a very unique way, and finds herself as much as she finds love and a future.

What I will say about our hero, the Spy: bro is carrying around a lot of guilt and a lot of weight that he puts on himself, and every time he lets go to be himself feels so good. His romance is unintentional but deep. Part of his guilt is surrounding his friendships and his struggle makes you want to give him a hug. Also, the moment when he reveals himself to others was hilarious. The scene before it was ridiculous, and then it just escalated and I loved it.

My thoughts on the romance: it's that thing where they can't help but be themselves with each other, because the others sees them for exactly who they are. Nix is the kind of person who would intimidate others based on size and force of personality; it's not even something the hero notices because he's too busy obsessing about everything else about her. Their foreplay is so much fun, and there's nothing like a hero with a boner that he's angry at because he's failing at fighting his attraction. These two DEVOUR each other.

Everyone's secrets are finally revealed in this one, not just the identity of the Spy and his huge secrets. What is Miss Robin's secret? Who are Hedeon Gray's parents? And we get a nice wrap up on all of our couples in the epilogues - their future choices, chances, and a last look at their happiness as we say goodbye to Kingmakers. We also get a little bit more of some side characters, who I hope get their own books in the future, or at least somewhere along the interconnected Larkverse we hear that they're doing okay.

Can't wait to see what Sophie gives us next!

At this point, I’m a broken record.

"I didn't know if this book would work for me, because..." - well, it has a deception plot, which I'm never a fan of.

When will I learn to just trust Sophie, sit back, and enjoy the ride??

I've made so many accidental assumptions about this book. Like in Ivan and Snow - the first two books from the Underworld series that I read before The Spy - for some reason I got it in my head that Snow was Ivan's brother Dominic. I don't know why. But I was CONVINCED. So when Snow started and he's a boxer whereas Ivan leads the Bravta (mafia group) I was like: "Oh, he has a hobby. That's nice." And when Snow said "I came from nothing / I don't know anything about the Bravta" I was like, "Dude! Don't be so hard on yourself! Just because you're not the official leader doesn't mean you're not important." Yeah... he's not Ivan's brother.

Anyway, the same thing happened with The Spy. I was convinced I knew who the hero of this book was. But then I messaged someone saying, "I think the spy is x, but wouldn't it be so funny if it turned out to be someone random like y - even when we know x is the hero of book 4??" Reader, 'x' is not the hero of book 4.

I can give nothing away because it's better that way.

If you enjoy Sophie Lark, dark romance, or mafia stories, PLEASE give this series a try. I will say: the experience reading this book is a million times better if you at least read books 1-3 from Kingmakers, AND 1-2 from Underworld.

The speed at which Sophie writes and puts out books is alarming and admirable. I don't know how she comes up with (and keeps straight) interweaving plots, characters, family's, family feuds... I don't know how she keeps each book feeling exciting and fresh. But dang, I'm grateful because I will eat this shit up.

And as I've said with just about every Sophie book I've read so far (for sure with There Are No Saints, book 1 in her Sinners duet and The Heir, book 1 of Kingmakers) - I have never read a book like this.

Wow wow wow! What an epic ending to one of my all time favorite series! I can't believe it's over, but these books will definitely stay with me and I'm already planning a reread asap. There are so many connected characters and I greatly enjoyed trying to put clues together and finding Easter eggs from previous books. Lark is a genius in how she wove everything together and wrote a series that took over my soul.

I don't want to give spoilers for those that haven't read this, but I will say I was so excited to finally reveal the spy and uncover what has been going on in Kingmakers. We also got a brand new female character who's born of the sea, wild and untamed. I adored her fighting spirit and the way she's completely herself, no matter what others think.

Of course we also kept up with the other characters from Kingmakers, as well as a couple from Lark's previous series. If you haven't read the Underworld books, you definitely should before jumping into this! I was ecstatic to see more Gallos, Griffins, and Wilks and I hope they are featured in future stories because I'm not ready to let go.

These books have been an adventure and led me to a whole community of Lark readers. I'm so happy I discovered these wonderful people and have made connections that hopefully will last for a long time to come. This is more than just reading and I thank Sophie for bringing us together!

It’s hard to write a lot about this book without giving anything away, so i will keep it brief. To start, i read this in one sitting because it was such a page turner i *literally* couldn’t put it down. I kept telling myself “ok, at the next stopping point we go to bed” and that just never happened.

I loved learning more about the spy and figuring out what his purpose is. It was so cool to see mysteries unravel and honestly just impressive to see everything that sophie created and how it all came to fruition. The relationship between the spy and his love interest was super intriguing. Very much “i hate you, but i want you, and i hate that i want you” vibes.

I felt like this wrapped up so many things so nicely, and the epilogue was just perfect. I was so glad to see how things turned out for the characters i loved, even though it was sooo not easy to say goodbye. the love stories and the friendships created in this series are some of my favorites. all of these characters love so hard and would quite literally do anything for each other, as proven in this book. Kingmakers was a place unlike any other, and i’m so sad to be done, but I can’t wait for the Savage and see more of Sabrina and Adrik!

Now… did it take me 150 pages to actual get into the story/romance??? Yes. Yes it did.

BUT ONCE I GOT THERE WHEWWWW😮‍💨 I had SUCH a great time reading this book. Like I am not kidding, anyone reading Sophie’s books, PLEASE listen the the songs as they are laid out in the books, because they make the book so much more enjoyable and it makes you feel like you really are watching a movie with background songs coming on at the perfect moment🤭

Does this book have issues? Sure, I thought the romance just kind of got serious out of nowhere. However I had the best time reading this book, and the plot and intrigue kept me hooked til the end!

Hello!! I really needed to devour this book. I can see that all mystery build up have a fruitful end. The plot was great and the chemistry was fire. I like nix and her straight outward personality while i also hope that it should have been more of her in the book. Also there are multiple pov which represents a clear view of plot with all the mystery going on. I like everything sophie lark write. So i really enjoyed this book. And its a little sad that this series already ended.
