Golden Angel is a USA Today best-selling author of heart and bottom warming romance.
She is happily married, old enough to know better but still too young to care, and a big fan of happily-ever-afters, strong heroes and heroines, and sizzling chemistry.
When not in front of her computer writing, she can be found sewing her next project, hanging out with friends, or wandering the grounds of the Maryland Renaissance Festival.
The Marquess of Camden had always struck me as a commanding figure. Being the spymaster to the Crown helped with that image…..but was it correct? When i heard that Golden Angel did some spying of her own to find out the truth,i couldn’t wait to hear what she’d found. The ARC of A Season for Desire told me the how,why and who,and it was glorious!
Evie had to hire a nurse when her uncle Oliver was shot. Because he was the worst patient she’d ever seen. He was stubborn and listened to no-one,not to his sons, and not even to his doctor. His only “weakness” was when he made the female staff cry…. Evie was strong enough to deal with him,but she couldn’t spend all her time nursing him back to health, right? Hence the hiring of a nurse with a stellar reputation….Diana. She was caring, confident, and most importantly discreet. And she needed to be,because to understand the situation, she needed to know everything about her patient.
There was however a side effect to her employment…..she really started to like the man she was hired to care for. And he seemed to enjoy her company too. So much so,that he pretended his recovery needed more time….. Until that theme night at the Society of Sin. The punishment Oliver dared Diana to give to him changed everything, and afterwards she knew it was time to find employment elsewhere. Only she didn’t count on Oliver’s determination to make her stay…..
Oliver and Diana’s story was so much fun to read! These two were made for eachother,in every way. Even though she was younger, and even though she felt he was far above her station. Diana may have struggled at first to understand what Oliver saw in her,but once she accepted it,she enjoyed their dynamic to the fullest. And Oliver finally found a woman that could give him what he’d missed after his wife died. More even, because she enjoyed it as much as he did!
These historical spy/society of sin books never disappoint. I love them and all their naughty parts. This book just so happens to be the Marquess of Camden's second chance. I imagine him as dark, handsome, and strong enough to throw his woman over his shoulder but with a naughty bedroom submissive side. After seeing how domineering he can be as the old spymaster it was very interesting to see him let go. To let his lady love take control. And take control she did. I loved Oliver but only liked Diana. I did like how she loved to control the bedroom. But to be honest I think Evie and all her besties spoiled me. Diana just kind of fell flat to me. Maybe it was because I didn't really get a whole lot of her and I only sensed a small spark between the two of them. I don't know, this book just seemed tame. I loved the prior book and am definitely looked forward to the next. But I think I would have loved more of the push and pull going into their "relationship" than just the very beginning and then the declaration. We get bits and pieces here and there but to witness them fall in love would have made this even better.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review*
Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
Diana was hired to treat Oliver when he was sh*t. He was the worst patient ever. He didn’t listen to anyone, not his sons and not his doctor. Oliver started enjoying Diana’s company. She too liked him. Oliver wanted her to stay so badly that he pretended that he still needed treatment. Then themed night at the Society of Sin came. He dared Diana to punish him. And after that fateful night, Diana knew that she needed to find a new place of employment. But Oliver was determined to make her stay for good. I loved their chemistry and passion. They were made for each other.
Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a nurse/patiens, boss/employee, age gap, secret society romance then you’re going to love it.
Dnf at 55%, even tho it’s a short book i honestly couldn’t finish it it’s so boring plus there was a time skip from when the two leads met each other to the time they did something together, i didn’t see the tension between them build so the attraction just wasn’t there in my eyes
This historical romance is in the same setting as Golden Angel's other Regency kinky romance books.
Oliver, the Marquess of Camden, is the (former) spymaster to the Crown and a powerful and commanding figure. And a widower. He has been reduced to bedrest after being shot in an assassination attempt. Needless to say he is NOT a great patient.
Diana Ruthorford is a nurse who is from a good family but who never married or had a "Season" due to family circumstances and personal inclinations. She takes on the job of handling the deeply irascible Oliver and tending him (whether he wants it or not) until he heals.
Since all of Oliver's children are kinky, it is not surprising that Oliver knows of the Society of Sin. He goes one evening (when he makes sure that none of his offspring will be there) and, surprise!, there is Diana. And both of them are very surprised at the desires of the other.
And the romance takes off from there.
OK, I really wanted to give them 5 stars, but I just honestly could not. It is quite well written. It is very entertaining. The characters are quite enjoyable. But...
It just did not have as much spark as many of the earlier books. Diana is simply not as interesting as Priscilla (in _A Season for Bliss_) learning of her husband's needs and learning how to meet them and meet her own (not really suspected) needs. She also cannot match the depth and challenges of Evie. Diana is simply not colored in vibrantly. She *should* be written to be interesting and compelling enough to command Oliver's continuing attention. Oliver is, after all, a very intelligent and perceptive and inquiring man.
The book is really short and a very fast read. I was surprised that it ended so quickly. It's possible that the goal page count was simply too short to fill in the character to more depth.
In short, a good and fine book, but not a great book.
Alright, when I started reading this book I knew it'll be Marquis Oliver and Diana's story.
We've all seen Oliver as this dominant, commanding figure who was the spymaster of England. He cut a fine figure and his presence demanded attention. Then we learn a few things about Oliver in A Season For Bliss (Desire and Discipline #1), and now we get a deep dive on who he is actually is.
I was expecting this book to be all about this very serious character finding love which it was but it was so much more than that too. We got to see a side of Oliver we never knew existed, the mischievous and fun guy who knows how to get people to do his bidding even if gets him in trouble later. I personally think he likes being naughty just so he could be punished. Haha!
It was a short and spicy read but it was also sweet in a way I cannot explain in words. Finding love more than once is possible and everyone deserves a second chance. That's the message this book ultimately send which I absolutely love.
I had such an amazing time slowly reading this wonderful gem of tale. Lord Oliver you naughty boy you. Ladies I could not get enough of this man and his un-abashed proclivities. This man had me getting a little hot under the color. Miss Diana is a minx her-self. She could toe- to- toe and out play with with the best of them. At first I was a bit weary of reading the book, because of the titles, but I had a book to read and review and I soldered on. An I am so happy that I did. The story and the plot was simply adorable and wonderful. It was a blissful tale and backdrop to Oliver and Diana’s love story. I loved the chemistry of the characters and the steam level that was explosive. I consider this an exciting book. I give this two golden snaps and a twist. Until next time my fellow readers this is Love To Read Them/ Review Them - Gal. Read on!
I really enjoyed the second book in this little series! Oliver, a Spymaster, has been shot and needed a nurse to help him recover. Turns out he was a very bad patient so Evie hires Diana who assure her that he won't run her off that easy. At first, they clashed but as time went on, you can tell they were getting more and more interested in each other. I loved the connection between them and I loved that Diana didn't take any cr@p from him which made him more and more interested in her. But he has a secret that only the people at the Society of Sins know about. I'm telling you right now to get this book. If you like reading about a woman in charge in the bedroom, Golden Angel does an outstanding job of telling Diana and Oliver's story.
This is the second book in the Desire and Discipline series and it is a short, entertaining read. Oliver is a spymaster who has sustained a g*n shot wound and is in need of help with his recovery. Diana is an independent nurse who is tasked with helping Oliver by tending to his injury. Not one who has the best attitude when it comes to his recovery, Oliver is the bane of Diana’s existence, but she is not one to be swayed from her duty. What started out as two people who clashed over just about everything, morphs into an attraction that cannot be denied over the time they spend together. Filled with drama, the pomposity of the ton and romance this is one historical that is just right for curling up with an afternoon tea.
I love the exploration of character in this story. Diana is such a strong woman, she knows herself and her mind but this is more of an awakening for her. As she fights her attraction, she eventually must give in to desire. Having experienced these characters on the sidelines in past stories, it was wonderful to see their attachment grow. Oliver knows what he wants and once he allows himself to move past his own objections, he goes for it with gusto. These two are so well-matched. The ever strong and commanding Spymaster and the stern Nurse who won’t back down, might seem not to work but it is exactly the opposite. Even the strong need that person who gets you to let down your guard. Diana is just that person for Oliver, taking over and taking charge so he can release all the burdens he carries. That is what truly makes this such a great story. Oh, and plenty of spicy times!
I adore Golden Angel's "A Season for ... " books. 'A Season for Desire' is the second book in her "Desire and Discipline" series which started right where book one ended. Lo and behold, we see a new side to our illustrious spymaster! Oh, but we also are witness to the nurse his niece Evie has hired. There's a tragedy that leads to a mystery that still hasn't been answered to completion. I love the back-and-forth banter and sticking points from these two characters. I can't wait for her next one
This was such a fun read that you can finish in an afternoon. We have seen Oliver and Diana before in the other spy stories and now it is their turn. Oliver is now recovered and wants Diana especially after meeting her at the Den of Sin. Diana is no pushover and what follows is maybe not what you would expect. This is a very steamy story that will set your kindle on fire with the addition of an excerpt from the next book.
A truly short and sweet story featuring an injured marquess and the nurse that heals him…and awakens something else. With a proclivity for dominating and a man who seems like nothing could possibly make him bend, the two main characters create a wonderful juxtaposition that seem to work in all the right ways. With a nice touch of historical romance, murder mystery, and all the talk of the ton, this book is perfect for a lazy afternoon spent reading.- Jade
Another book with a rather dominant female lead character (jumps up and down happily). It will be interesting to see if the entire series is that way. Diana and Oliver's story has been progressing for several books now, so it's nice to see it come to fruition. I love that Golden decimated the pool of Dukes so her ladies will have eligible suitors. Looking forward to Lady Catherine's story (she reminds me a bit of myself).
This novel was short but good. The development of the relationship between Diana and Oliver was well paced. Of course the incident with the dukes is going to continue into the next novella. My one issue is the end scene between Diana and Oliver was similar to Book 1 in this series. Otherwise this was a good read.
I received a free copy through a Goodreads book giveaway.
Golden Angel, this A Season for Desire (Desire and Discipline Book 2) was utterly delightful!!! Knowing what one wants and desires and being able to communicate this to your partner goes a long way to healing some as well as releasing tensions and guilt. Well done Golden Angel!!
I love that Diana and Oliver got their own story. He tries to pretend like he's not healed all the way to keep her around. She knows he's faking but can't seem to walk away. Luckily they meet at a Society of Sin party and find out that they have even more in common than they realized. Golden does historical romance so well and this was another great story!
I truly enjoyed this story. Diana is a formidable woman, enough to keep up with Oliver, the Marquess of Camden. These two have strong characters and they enjoy bantering with each other. But one night will change everything for the better. I love how Oliver strong armed Diana about a certain matter. So good
Marquess is recovering from a failed attempt at his life and Diana is the beautiful headstrong nurse who warm Oliver’s blood in a way he thought impossible after the death of his wife. Oliver though is determined to make Diana his even as the Ton is rocked by unexpected tragedy.
After nursing Oliver back to health it's time for Diana to find a new client. She's preparing to leave but Oliver's not having it. When he discovers she's a Domme he knows she's perfect and sets out to convince her to marry him. This was short and steamy with some serious female Domme/male submissive action in the bedroom.
This just wasn't for me. The characters have no personality aside from Diana liking to be in control and Oliver living to be mistreated. If you're into that kind of dynamic definitely read this, but I was personally looking for more of a romance / like a dominant man.
This was a super enjoyable read. A fast pace, electric chemistry, rich sweetness, intense feelings and lots of steam made Oliver and Diana's story intriguingly different and delightfully fun.
This spin off series is amazing! Golden Angel just keeps getting better and better. Still are smexy times but the depth of emotion and drama has just gotten better and better! Love this one!
Uma delícia Marques de Cadem o grande espaço da coroa é na realidade um submisso e não resiste ao chicote de sua enfermeira. Não gosto de histórias de Domme, mas essa foi deliciosa.
