I copyedited this book about 20 years ago. Most of the 100-plus works I've copyedited or proofread I've completely forgotten. I still hold scenes and phrases from this book at the forefront of my brain. Hallucinatory, an amazing stylist and recreator of the Old West. Brilliant writing.
