Chosen by the crown, Meri ascends to the throne, becoming Queen of the Light Fae, a kingdom full of adversaries and hidden agendas. Guided by Solandis’ unwavering support, she must deftly navigate the intricacies of the Fae court and carve out a path toward a more enlightened future. But when long-buried secrets, including a traitorous conspiracy from the past, emerges, the Light Fae Kingdom finds itself teetering precariously on the brink of rebellion.
Four enigmatic men, each with their own complicated pasts, become an integral part of Meri’s life, but not all of them are who they seem to be. Meri struggles with who to trust—not only with her heart, but her kingdom.
As tensions escalate between the aristocratic light Fae and Lesser Fae, Meri makes a bold move. Will her daring plan work or will the light Fae be engulfed in an all-out war?
This is a why choose, reverse harem, paranormal, fantasy romance. 18+ years of age due to mature content.
Author of steamy contemporary and paranormal romance books, Stella Brie lives outside of Nashville, TN, with her husband and golden retriever, Bailey. After her husband challenged her to write a paragraph, she wrote a book! Ideas are pestering her night and day now. She's currently in her writing cave, but when not writing, you can find her reading, boxing, traveling and all the other good things in life.
I didn't realize that Meri's story was going to be a duet, so my main original complaint at 70% into the book that the romance was glacial and unsatisfying wasn't applicable with that information. Just note that the book ends with only a confirmed M/F with a possible two others, and there was only a single spicy scene. TBH, I didn't find any of the romance super believable and leaned more towards unexplained insta-lust. Meri's history with Cormal was based on prior history before this book started, and we were supposed to assume they were just deeply in love with each other due to it.
While I liked the base plot's political intrigue, I found that everything was rather dry narration, and betrayal and death happened left and right quite quickly after introductions. There was no time to be emotionally invested in characters before they were offed.
The cast wasn't great to figure out without reading the previous books and remembering the context. Many character names were similar and could be difficult to keep straight - Kier vs. Kian, Camon vs. Carlen vs. Cormal. Main character backstories were glossed over, and I had to infer a lot rather than have it outright re-explained to me as a first book in a spin-off series. If things ended up re-explained, they tended to be a huge dialogue dump.
Hopefully, we can get a satisfying romance and political conclusion in the next book and some more character development, especially with all the convoluted mysterious histories. It was otherwise an okay read to follow how the Light Fae's politics evolved after Nyssa's death.
So I really wanted to love it because I love love loves the rest of the series. The story didn’t flow smooth, the character development was choppy and the whole story seemed rushed. For being so old, meri acted like a teenager. It hurts me to give a 3 star rating.
Unfortunately I had to DNF this book at 45%. I’m really sad about this as I LOVED the first three books in this series. I just don’t like Meri 😢 She is new to the crown, has factions that are against her and the most important thing to her in this book is dating. 🙄 to find love - which okay I get but she should be concentrating on training, working on the kingdom. There are no MMC’s in this book I’m rooting for. No one who I hope wins her heart. Maybe I was hoping Meri would be more like Arden and be a kick ass chick.
This is a spin off of the Killian blade and Arden’s story. This takes place with Meri, her friend who kinda betrays her but not really. Anyways Meri is Queen of the Light Fae now and has to fight for her crown. There’s several moving parts to this story and once it gets going it gets going. Originally at first it was a little tough to get through because Meri wasn’t doing much Queenly stuff imo. She was going on dates, which kind of bugged me. I was suspicious of who she was going out with from the jump, there was just something about him that raised the red flags. Meri, in her semi innocence dismissed a few of those flags. It all comes to a head at the end of the book though. So many moving parts. I still need to know who Madoc is to Meri, will he be part of her harem, or is he a relative of some sort? A Royal? I love that we have Solandis and Vargas in this book as well. Yep Vargas is alive! Which we knew at the end of Arden’s series. I can’t wait to see what happens and where the crown went.
I’m so glad we are getting Meri’s story! I’ve been interested in knowing more about her since book 1 in the Killian Blade series. Stella truly gives us such interesting characters & worlds to explore.
Meri is the kind of queen the world needs! Solandis is the kind of mother/best friend we all need. The guys are what every woman needs, loyalty, loving, encouraging, and most of all let the ladies be their bada$$ selfs when the time is called for. Cormal (MMC) is wicked and yummy, Rivan (MMC) is such a genuine, but tortured soul. Madoc (MMC) is my kind of rough and rugged that you know will be all kinds of wicked
I really need the next book, and kind of hope this world never ends.
I will admit I did struggle to get into this book to start with but I think that was because I’d spent so much time with Arden and her story it was a bit of an adjustment to get used to new perspective but once I did get into it the story was fabulous. The ending of this book was absolutely spectacular and has me wanting to read the next book in the series already. I would recommend giving this book a read.
Good read. Had fun. The plot of “fantasy racism/classism bad” has gotten a little repetitive. Not that I think it’s a bad point, just has been presented in roughly the same way thrice. Still gunna read the next one to see if something new happens and because I’m deeply invested in Solandis. Also not a critique of this book but it was such a slow burn I’m worried the next one will feel rushed since it’s the last in the series. We will see.

I sometimes take a break from an author and I knew this was a different story line than the first 4 books, but I’ve forgotten some details about the characters and wish that I remembered more. Overall this is an excellent book and I will dive into book 6 immediately. I really wish the editor would figure out the correct use of was and were. I think the constant misuse is the main reason I took the break. Meri and Cal were - and makes it plural!
If you are a fan of the Killian Blade Series you are going to want to read this. Unknown enemies at every turn, familiar faces, and Meri being a bad-ass. I am so glad there is going to be another installment in this series and absolutely cannot wait to read where this story goes!
I was so happy to see another book in this series. As usually the author's story balances details with, fast pace story telling. Familiar faces show up as well as inter connecting tidbits from Garden's story. Can't wait for the next book.
I wasn't sure what to expect with Meri becoming queen but I'm here for it. Love her finding the balance of her heritage and what she's learned. So many reveals
I think this in within top 5 series’ basing itself with Fae myth and Lore. Five books three powerful stories three powerful women heroes. Not a single moment in any of the five books so far predictable or not completely genuine to the authors own imagination.
I was somewhat sceptical at first, but since I already knew most of the characters, I kept reading. I ended up loving it and can’t wait to start the next book.
I was so pumped to finally get Meri's story and it delivered more than I could hope for! Meri is one of my favorite characters in this world and it was such a wild ride watching her grow into her new role as queen.
After so many books of being teased by her connection with Cormal, it was amazing finally seeing this relationship move forward! Their history together has created a special bond that i can't get enough of.
Thank the gods they have such a strong bond, because the rest of the harem is slow to form. Meri and Rivan have obvious chemistry and feelings for each other, but have entire worlds to overcome if they want to be together. And the last spot is a slight mystery between a broody trainer and a mysterious lord. I have a favorite between the two but don't want to spoil anything.
Overall I really enjoyed the way the relationships are formed. Each relationship has layers to it and builds at its own pace. These relationships also show it takes a while for Meri to get close to someone after the traumatic past she has had.
The author does what she does best, weaves interesting and intricate worlds together with a slow burn romance that quickly burrows into your heart. Once i started reading I was so excited to read more. The story only gets better and better as you go on. I'm so excited for the next book in the story!
Stella Brie has kept me captivated from the very first book in this intriguing universe and I am so excited to finally read Meri's storer. She is another bada$$ like the other 2 FMC in these books. This book it hard hitting from the very first page and as soon as I started it was impossible to put down. Stella Brie is such a talented authour who really knows how to make her readers completely engrossed in her character and invested in what happens to them. I cannot wait to see where she takes us next on this merry go round of drama, suspense, steam and twist and turns.
