Sophie Harrington moved to Glenwood Falls and opened Max’s Bow Wow Bakery featuring bakery treats for dogs and humans. Max is Sophie’s terrific dachshund. Hadley Moyer, her best friend, owns the Needlework Trading Post shop next door. And Deputy Rey Beltran, recently promoted to a lieutenant, was a high school friend. The town held an annual Friendsgiving celebration to share a meal together, helped by Hadley, Sophie, and her new assistant Erin who was setting out treats from Max’s Bow Wow Bakery.
As it was getting late, Sophie and Hadley went to Drysdale Apple Orchard to pick applies for a pie. Rey couldn’t go with them since he was working late shift that night. They saw Rosemary Davenport, an older woman who had sat at their Friendsgiving table. She had a heavy basket and was talking on her phone, being snippy with whomever she was talking to, something about her rent money. So they left quietly so she could finish her call but she walked down another aisle, still talking. When Max later started barking, they followed him and saw a purple boot sticking out from behind a tree. It was the dead body of Rosemary! And Sheriff Briggs who just arrived was not happy to see Sophie there. He seemed to think the victim died of a heart attack, but Sophie didn’t think so, and she always followed her gut instinct when she sensed something was off. The lab later confirmed Rosemary was poisoned by red baneberry, and Erin had been the one who had delivered that small boxed pie with the anonymous note that thanked Rosemary. Now the police were questioning her as the prime suspect! Would Sophie begin her investigation to find the real killer before Erin’s reputation is ruined and she is convicted for something she did not do?
Another cute story of pets and mystery., this one during the Thanksgiving season. As usual Sophie is playing Nancy Drew disregarding the dangers involved. I enjoyed the ladies at the retirement home.
I absolutely loved this story. The characters were realistic and smart putting together the clues. The author did a great job of misdirection. Loved the secondary characters in the retirement community. Highly recommend!
It's time for the Glenwood Falls annual Friendsgiving lunch. Sofie Harrington and her bestfriend Hadley Moyer have volunteered to help with the setup and decorating. During lunch they are joined by Rey, Sophie's policeman boyfriend, and Rosemary Davenport, an elderly woman who lives in the local retirement community. Erin, Sophie's assistant at the bakery, is part of the serving crew and finds a box addressed to Rosemary and brings it to her. Inside is an individual pie which Rosemary eats for dessert. A few hours later Sophie and Hadley are picking apples at the local orchard when they see Rosemary speaking on the phone. Max, Sophie's dachshund, takes off running to Rosemary and the ladies find her dead on the ground. Rey tells Sophie the coroner concluded Rosemary was poisoned. When Sophie tells Rey about the pie Erin becomes a suspect in the case. Sophie and Hadley decide to investigate to find the real murderer. They ladies are able to identify the bad guy and the police arrest that person.

Fatal Friendsgiving and the Bow Wow Bakery is the second book in the Doggy Bakery Cozy Mystery series. It was just as cute and entertaining as the first in the series. The main character, Sophie, is very likeable. She owns a bakery that makes baked goods for dogs and humans. Her BFF (Hadley) owns a nearby crochet/knitting type shop; they’re able to get together and help each other. They have a great friendship. The mystery was well thought out and I enjoyed trying to figure it out. Sophie has a cute weenie dog (Max) who is with her most of the time. There is a little romance and the small-town setting (in New Hampshire) is described wonderfully. The book was the perfect length for me, not terribly long but it didn’t feel rushed at all (moves at a very good pace). I look forward to the next in the series!

This is a great cozy read. Friendsgiving - a local celebration that encourages the locals, friends, families and visitors to enjoy a catered dinner and the opportunity to meet and make new friends. Emma and Hadley do just that when Rosemary Davenport joins their table. After the meal, Emma and Hadley are off to the local orchard to pick apples. They see Rosemary there, seeming to be having trouble with her apple basket but do not approach her as she is on her phone. Shortly after, Max, Emma's precocious dachshund, discovers Rosemary very dead beneath an apple tree. Emma simply can't accept this as a natural death and begins investigating it as a murder and possible poisoning. She works her way through and around the small group of people in Rosemary's small circle of friends and family and possible killer. The twists and turns are engaging leading to a surprising ending. This is a voluntary and honest review of this book.
This is the second installment of the Doggy Bakery Cozy Mystery series. Sophie, Erin, and friends attend a Friendsgiving celebration in the town of Glennwood Falls. Afterward, Sophie, Erin, and Max decide to go to a local orchard to pick apples for some pies when they encounter Rosemary, an irritable member of the community, having an animated conversation on her phone. Not wanting to experience her prickliness, they avoid her. Soon after, Max, Sophie's wiener dog, starts barking. They discover that Rosemary has died and Sophie suspects foul play. The local sheriff shows up and eventually suspects Erin, Sophie's employee, of murder. It's up to Sophie to find out the truth. This was an enjoyable little cozy mystery.

Cozy Friendsgiving Mystery with Sweet Animals! I really enjoyed this trip to Glenwood Falls and meeting Sophie and Max and their friends, both human and canine! This was a well-crafted story with detail that made me feel as if I was right there in the town, attending the Friendsgiving, the quilting workshop and sitting in the bakery enjoying one of Sophie's human treats. I loved the description of Rey's family and of the residents at the Retirement Center. Max making their days brighter brought a smile to my face! I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves a cozy mystery with lots of animal friends, and I look forward to reading more books in this series. A Friendsgiving lunch is being held & Sophie, Rey & Hadley are joined by 3 others on there table. One, an older lady named Rosemary received a mysterious present that turned out to be a sweet berry pie. After the lunch Sophie & Hadley go to an apple orchard to pick some apples to make pies with. They see Rosemary there, but she’s on the phone so they go to another row. Then Max (Sophie’s dog) takes off & barks furiously. Sadly Rosemary is dead. So naturally Sophie has to try & sort it all out, especially as her newly hired help at the bakery is the unlucky person to have seen & delivered the package. There is a lot going on & in part of the “finding out” Max is now a very welcome visitor to a local home for the older people that Sophie visited as Rosemary had lived there.
Hadley and her best friend Sophie are happily attending the annual Friendsgiving in Glenwood Falls. They meet Ms. Rosemary, also seated at their table, and are dismayed to discover her dead body later that day in the Apple Orchard. Sheriff Briggs is not happy that they have found another dead body, but quickly determines that Ms. Rosemary died from a heart attack. But Hadley and Sophia disagree due to her blue face and lips, which indicate poisoning, and remember her being gifted a blueberry pie from a secret admirer at the luncheon. They set out to discover who could have wanted her dead. A fun to read cozy by an author new to me, who gifted me an ARC. I write this review voluntarily.
This is a well written cozey mystery with a bite of murder the array of familiar characters along with the new will draw you in within the first two paragraphs and of course this wouldn't be a mystery without a deadly schemer hidden in plain sight and with that said I can say you'll be enticed further through the intrigue of the baker, stitcher and a fury four legged friend searching for clues and making new aquentances along the way through a plot that will have you captivated with laughter, shagrin and a suy or two. Fatal Friendsgiving and The Bow Wow Bakery is book #2 in the Doggy Bakery Cozy Mystery series by Belinda Page.
Sophie, Hadley, and Rey enjoy a Friendsgiving meal. Afterwards, Sophie and Hadley go to an orchard to pick apples. Unfortunately, they also find a dead body.
I enjoy the friendship between Hadley and Sophie. As an animal lover, it is fun reading a story where the pets are so important to the owners. Max reminds me of the dachshund that was my first pet. I really felt sorry for the victim. I certainly didn’t guess how the crime would be solved. And the Thanksgiving meal was really sweet. I look forward to Sophie and Max’s next case.

There is a lady that they meet there an older sassy lady that tells everyone to be thankful for what they have and is later found dead. Even though it was thought that it was a heart attack they find out she was murdered. Sleuthing is something that Sophie is good at and suddenly she is in the middle of the case. With many possible suspects from the feast, Sophia gets busy looking for the culprit. The antics of her lovable daschund Max, especially with the retirement home residents, are heartwarming. Another who done it for Sophie, Hadley, Rey and Max. I enjoyed this latest book, Friendsgiving was fun until poor Rosemary bit the dust, literally! I really like these characters and get hungry reading of all the bakery goodies. Erin is a nice addition to the mix as Sophie’s helper at the bakery. Max in an elevator reminded me of my own pup that loved elevators and would sit straight up to be petted as we went up or down. This is a fast, enjoyable read, perfect for holiday reading. Looking forward to more adventures of this group of pals.
Until I started reading cozies, I didn’t realize how dangerous being a baker could be. Belinda Page’s Doggy Bakery series has been excellent and this story is no exception. Why would someone poison an older lady that everyone seemed to love. Secondly who did it? Baker Sophia keeps us running following up clues. We get romance, humor and mystery plus plenty of twists and surprises. I leave these books hungry and wanting to head to my favorite bakery. In spite of this, I really enjoyed this book.
What an amazing story. It's almost Thanksgiving and everyone seems to be running last minute errands! Our heroine is doing everything she can to finish up with baking! As she finishes and heads over to the place she is going, The Friends giving event! She is excited because this is her first time with a large crowd and helping with an event of this magnitude! There is, as always, A portion of the story that made everyone sad! One of the older ladies begins to feel ill! Read this story to find what happens!!
This is my second book in the Bow Wow Bakery series and I am certainly going to go on to 3rd. Very enjoyable and believable. I like the dog relationship since I talk to my dog all the time and it is good to know I am not alone in believing they know exactly what we are saying. The murder mystery part is low key with respect to gory details but the investigation is easy to follow with respect to the steps our detectives take. The personal relationship with the ladies and the police officer are good additions to the story but not overdone.
4-1/2 stars. 2nd in series. Sophie, owner of the Bow Wow Bakery, & her friends Hadley & Rey, a police officer, are celebrating Friendsgiving, a Glenwood Falls tradition. Later that day Sophie & Hadley find one of their table mates dead in the apple orchard. Natural causes or suspicious death? They investigate with the help of Max, her dachsund. Charming small town & interesting characters.

This was a Doggy Bakery Cosy Mystery. It was a lighthearted, fun read. I love cosy mysteries, and culinary mysteries are one of my go-to types of book for when I just want something to chill out with, especially if there's a cute animal sidekick. This was a very autumnal themed book too, so a good choice for the time of year.

This is another sleuthing adventure for Sophia at the bakery. Her new assistant, Erin, is the prime suspect. Sophia, her dog Max & her friend Hadley set out to find the killer. Plenty of fun & danger along the way to the satisfactory conclusion. This is an enjoyable read, well told. Recommend I received an Advanced Reader Copy from the author. This is another awesome book in this series. Belinda Page has done such a great job. This follows Sophia, who owns a bakery for humans and dogs, her dog Max, and her best friend Hadley. This whodunit deals with an elderly lady being poisoned at the community Friendsgiving dinner. Sophia's assistant Erin becomes the suspect. They work together to discover who the real murderer is. Great book!
3 1/2 STARS I really enjoyed this story. Second in the Bow Wow Bakery series it is just as charming as the first if not more. I love the idea of a Friendsgiving celebration and feast and the author has created a town anyone would love to live in ... aside from the murders of course. I received a free advance copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my opinion of the tale.
I received this book as an Arc from the author and I’m writing a review because I to. I love this series! A woman dies in an Apple Orchard after attending a Friendsgiving event. I received a free advance review copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. I really enjoyed this book about the Bow Wow Bakery and it's owner, Sophie. She is as good at finding clues to a murder as she is at baking both human treats and dog treats. I recommend this book.
Sophie, Hadley and Rey are going to the community thanksgiving dinner. Who expects one of the people at your table to die at dessert? Sophie and Max her loveable dog soon get caught up in the why of it all. Emory Keller keeps you flipping the pages with her story. She puts you right into the story line. Great job.
