When Fallen Angels Fly: Book Five in the Arizona series

Rate this book
One year after breaking up with Preston, Arizona has officially adopted his step niece, Dinah, and is balancing being a single father with two kids and a budding career as an author. When his début book comes out, he’s launched into fame beyond his imagination, due in no small part to his boyfriend and marketing manager Rafe Mansoor. It’s exciting, but it’s also a huge dilemma as Arizona’s newfound celebrity status impacts his two lonely kids.

Meanwhile, his troubled stepsister, Dolly, tries to cash in on his notoriety and could endanger Arizona’s custody of Dinah. It’s a painful echo from the past that has Arizona questioning what’s truly important in his life and what he needs to do to make amends with the people he’s hurt. Can fallen angels fly again?

4.5 stars. Okay, I’m processing, it’s really hard for me, I think I read this at the wrong moment.
Why? Why would you do this to a protagonist and even more to me as a reader?
I’m crying and I am inconsolable.

So, I read this story backward after reading the first page. Even skipping parts, it just is what it is!

Book five is an extension of the first four. Dear Arizona had the hardest life you could imagine.
In this fifth book he broke up with Preston, and started something with Rafe, he became a successful author, even famous. This does come at a cost to the well-being and relationship with his two kids.
There’s also the ongoing story of Dolly, Arizona’s stepsister, and his relationship with Preston and his dad.

“Like we always say, the feelings never been the problem. But how we supposed to fit together?”
That’s Arizona and Preston’s to the fullest. They were meant for each other!

The author chose a certain course, looking at the big picture, I think understand where it’s coming from, I think I do. Still, I prefer to be left satisfied finishing a series, not wrecked.
Overall an amazing journey, one of a kind. The writing is enthralling. The characters are fabulously portrayed. It all felt awfully realistic.

The whole series is a masterpiece, captivating and fascinating AF!!

Well if you had asked me to guess or predict the ending of this series and the ending for Arizona and Preston, I would have been so so wrong. I have enjoyed this series despite it being difficult to read sometimes. There is lots happening in this book as it attempts to clean up issues and stuff from books one to four so do not give up on it. I could not decide if not giving this couple the ending I wanted was realistic, painful, disappointing, or on target. In short it is all of these. Do not want to say much to spoil the book for those that have invested in books one through four. My advice is simply give up any expectations you have a good with the flow of the book. Reads like it says, a gothic southern novel, that is both emotional and realistic in its characters and storyline. I did receive an ARC and leave this honest review.

When Fallen Angels Fly is Book 5 in the Arizona series and should be enjoyed in order. I've really enjoyed reading Arizona's story. It's real, raw, and full of emotion. In this book Arizona finished his book and sets out on an extended marketing campaign to promote it. This takes him away for this family and Preston and the children really feel the effects of his absence. Sometimes getting what you want comes at a steep price. Honestly, I shouldn't be surprised by the ending because of the way the book started or maybe I was hoping for a different outcome. The book ends and I found myself letting out a breath I didn't realize I was holding. What can I say? I'm left with no words. This series has left its mark on me, and I look forward to what comes next. I definitely recommend this book and series.

4 Stars ⭐️

I'd like to start by saying that my rating is not necessarily for the completion of this story, it is more for the writer and this story as a whole.

Sigh.....honestly, I'm so upset. I feel like I've invested so much time into this story and these characters only to be so disappointed by the ending. I'm trying really hard not to spoil so I'm going to stop my review right here and say I think that this will be an ending that some people will find satisfying enough, me not so much.

I will recommend this read for previous book readers, you've gotta finish Arizona's story, it's pretty much a must read at this point.

I received an ARC copy of this book from a third party with the promise of an honest review.

This is the fifth book in the series and the final one for me to review. I can honestly say I found Books 4 and 5 much more difficult to read than the first three in the series. Indeed, I felt like throwing Book 4 at the wall and screamed opinions about Arizona making crazy decisions.

In Book 5, Arizona appears to have matured some and things with Preston (the only person I really liked throughout the five books) are looking up. Saying more would be a spoiler.

I have to say that the writing is strong or I would have declined Book 5.

I am GUTTED!!!! I have loved this series from the first page. Arizona is a character with so much depth and he is so relatable. I was pulling for him to be happy the entire time. I was cheering for him as he started reaching his goals and learned to stand up for himself and his family. The ending had me crying, cursing, and ready to throw my Kindle at the wall, but being Southern I can appreciate a beautiful tragedy

Well what can I say, the first paragraph was my warning and I continued onwards, I’d my fingers crossed I was going to be wrong when Preston said he was going to come to New York and they could finally be together openly but then that ending I really wanted the HEA Them not the box of tissues for myself.

Last part of this really strong series and though the final ending was already summarised in the beginning of this book it was still really painful. I am glad that Arizona "redeemed" himself from my feelings about him from book 4.
I received a complimentary copy of this book and am happy to leave a voluntary review.

What started as a series that left me waiting for the next installment has made me hate reading the series.

The end of the series left me feeling disappointed, why couldn't Arizona and Preston finally have the happy family life they desired in New York? The ending has left me feeling extremely disappointed.

This series has been quite the ride emotionally and I am totally happy for that. I hope there is more to come from this author as this story has been incredible and amazing and I feel lucky that I got to read it. Start with book one, the rest will take care of itself. I hope you enjoy this as much as I did.

Oh goodness, I'm stunned after finishing this book and this series. It's been just like life, up and down and then for Arizona, down some more. Here, from the blurb it seemed he was about to get some good things with his success as an author, and he does, but nothing comes without a price and for Arizona that price is always high. This is a book and a series I won't soon forget.

Once again just so depressing. The 1st couple sentences are literally Arizona saying he’s gonna die so won’t wait til the end for us to find out. Like wtf. Definitely won’t be continuing with chase’s story

He broke up with his boyfriend a year ago and his life is about to get better. He has custody of his step niece and his first book has become a best seller. Will he find love again? How will it will go this time? See how it will all go for him

What a thrilling ride that ended on a heavy note 🥹 I must say that notwithstanding the opening paragraph, I was not ready for the end. 😓

One year post-breakup with Preston, Arizona has embraced single fatherhood by officially adopting his step-niece, Dinah. Juggling parenting duties and a burgeoning writing career, Arizona's debut book catapults him into unexpected fame, thanks to his boyfriend and marketing manager, Rafe Mansoor. While the excitement of success grows, Arizona faces a dilemma as his newfound celebrity status affects his two lonely children. It has a shocking ending but overall it's a great book and series.
