Wyatt Henderson, an overconfident strategist, thought he had his whole life planned out, but he never expected to suddenly be the savior of an entire planet. Then came the fateful day he woke up in a room with four Alice, a linguist with crippling anxiety; Chloe, a secretive musician/fighter who doesn’t play well with others; Jamar, a jocular scientist lacking social skills; and Chase, a thief bogged down by self-doubt.
Hosted by an advanced alien race, this motley crew will need to put aside their differences, overcome their issues, and somehow work together using each of their unique talents to win a dangerous Contest - against other alien teams - for the future of Earth. But their biggest obstacle in their endeavor is a mysterious serial killer who threatens not only their efforts but their very lives!
With numerous dangers, infighting, and a possible betrayal, will the humans overcome these obstacles, win the Contest, and save Earth? Or will they return home empty-handed? Or will they return home at all?
This story is incredibly well-written, rich with vivid descriptions that bring every scene to life. The characters are layered, each with their own unique quirks that make them unforgettable. The plot is packed with unexpected twists and turns, keeping me hooked from start to finish. And the ending? Absolutely satisfying—yet it left me eagerly anticipating the next book in the series.
I love sci-fi and I love serial killers, and for the first time those two loves have come together. This such a refreshing new version of the sometimes overdone teens-or-young-adults-save-the-world story. First, you get to truly know all 5 main characters and even some of the nonhuman ones too. It has a unique story that I had to force myself to stop reading when real life needed tending to. I cannot wait to read the next one
I’m sorry, but if 5 humans played against a bunch of reptiles in a game that closely resembled American football, I’d take the humans DESPITE the fact that one of the humans is Canadian, one’s a Brit and two are girls. Knew I was gonna like this book from the moment when Jamar got jokingly called “Jake from State Farm”!
I enjoyed reading, FIVE very much! Getting to know the five college-age characters and experience how their relationships evolved in the midst of the trials they faced was exciting. This was an out of this world ride. In this sci-fi adventure, the motley crew of five strangers find themselves abruptly placed in an inter-galactic contest. They must put aside their differences and use each of their unique talents to work together to win this dangerous Contest, hosted by an advanced alien race. The characters are so relatable and enjoyable. I definitely recommend this book.
This sci-fi adventure is a wild ride from start to finish! Wyatt and his mismatched team of flawed but fascinating characters are thrown into a thrilling alien Contest with the fate of Earth at stake. The story blends action, mystery, and heart perfectly, with strong character growth and an exciting plot full of surprises.
A must-read for fans of high-stakes adventures and team dynamics done right!
The Contest is a fast-paced sci-fi adventure packed with action, humor, and high stakes. With a diverse cast of flawed but compelling characters and a mysterious killer in the mix, it’s an exciting, twist-filled ride to save Earth that keeps you hooked until the end.
